It probably can’t be reached. In the bug report tool there is a category for mining nodes. Hopefully Anet can make it so it doesn’t spawn there anymore.

There used to be quite a few spots in Orr where nodes would spawn inside walls and rocks but I think most have been fixed by now.

Name one other company that has “hundreds of skins” in their game for armor choices.

Any decent game, where the developer releases modding tools, gets hundreds and hundreds of skins all for free!

The modding community makes them, and many modders are far better at armour/weapons design than the fugly crap Anet’s so-called professionals have come up with since game launch.

Go to any mod hosting site and see for yourself ..

Not in mmorpgs. Take WoW for example. All the armours pretty much looks the same.

And I get the impressions that the person who said that had WoW in mind. 90% of the armors in WoW are reskins.

And to the person who claims modding can do that, well yes, it can. And I knew this reply was coming as well because some one was going to pull the “Skyrim…” card. But Skyrim is a single player game.

No mmos have the ability to add in user created content like most Bethsoft games we’re used to. So I guess I should have been specific and said mmo, instead of games. Then again, we’re talking about an mmo so I thought it would go without saying.

If you didn’t want or can’t handle peoples input on your posts then maybe you shouldn’t post? You seem awfully worked up because some one told you this is a fantasy game and as such comparing items in it to things that are real is not valid.

You know, I’d actually deleted that post because I didn’t feel like stirring up more crap with people who apparently can’t comprehend something so simple as a comment regarding my very clear opinion on taste in hammers. All I gave was my personal taste.

Can you read at all? I’m serious. Did you actually comprehend a single word of the posts I’ve made? I never once said that hammers in this game ought to look a certain way for the sake of realism. I said, quite literally, “The hammers in this game are comically large and most just look silly. I’d rather have a realistic looking polehammer anyday.”

I know that this is a fantasy game. Almost 3k hours should make that painfully obvious to anyone.

What I’m electing to take offense to is that certain users are just relentlessly drilling in on something that was never even said, perhaps out of some misplace sense of intellectual superiority, for the sake of making an argument out of nothing. I never asked for input on my post – probably because I never put forth an actual argument for the sake of debate; I merely made a very plain comment and then gave a picture to a user to show him that the two handed version of a medieval weapon is in fact very similar to the single handed hammer.

Does any of that make sense? At all? This is exactly why people have a problem with these forums. All of this right here in this thread? Unbelievably ridiculous. People need social skills.

Oh, and for the record, my opinion on what Anet does with hammers in GW2? I don’t really care one way or another because I’m content with a couple of skins right now. If they add more later, I’d personally like to see them varied between different types of aesthetics, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. And yes, I’m more than happy with my magical Sunrise, animated Frostfang, and glowing eyes Howler. But I’m not going to complain if they add a couple of things giving a nod to real life historical counterparts.

Anyone have a problem with this?

It makes perfect sense. What doesn’t make sense is how worked up you’re quite obviously getting because some one replied to your post. Evidenced by the fact that you took the time to reply multiple times and at great length detailing your side of the story.

Seems like the designers dont like hammers.

You were just backing up your opinion with a picture before. I didn’t think opinions needed backing up. It’s all subjective. Anyway back on topic, again.

You know what dude? No. You don’t get to have your precious last word if you’re picking a fight with me. You just couldn’t drop it in a respectful way, could you?

My picture was in response to the user who was saying that the hammer in question can’t be compared to a GW2 two handed weapon, so I posted another, very similar example to show that it was a good comparison. This had nothing to do with whatever problem you seem to have with me or my opinion, and I never once asked for your input. When I debate with you, you will know it. Trust me.

Are we done now?

Were these the ones they used next to the girls shooting fireballs from their hands and the guys summoning undead? Or were these the guys next to the people wielding twilights and magic scepters?

I’ll let you come to your own conclusion as to the idiocy of trying to apply real world logic to a fantastical, highly stylized, and magical game world.

Bravo. Apparently you’re jumping to conclusions about a very simple comment we made also, with regards to our own opinion on what is aesthetically pleasing. What is your problem? I never once said that all hammers should be a certain way for reality’s sake, nor did I make any comparison regarding armor, physics, or what have you.

If you didn’t want or can’t handle peoples input on your posts then maybe you shouldn’t post? You seem awfully worked up because some one told you this is a fantasy game and as such comparing items in it to things that are real is not valid.

They’re not going to make 20 sets of skins, hoping you’ll like one of them. What you’re asking simply isn’t reasonable.

How can other companies make hundreds of skins if ArenaNet can’t?
They can if they want to. And the cry for more skins & customization is groving strong…

I’m only asking for more options to chose from, and it requires a new solution of AP rewarding.

Not to mention the common problems with the designs – if everything has some detail we don’t like – example: Big butts, unreasonable giant metal pieces, etc – then a lot of skin goes to the style sink.
Another problem is the unreasonable different shapes & pieces of same skins. ex: Hoods.

Anyway, I’m happy with the Azureflame skin, even if it would be mutch cooler if were black and black flaming – or gold, or midnight rose — so I’m waiting for the customizations. But more important: I’m waiting for the sheating animation fix nearly for a year.

I even like the armor set I made, even if I want it to have more reinforced look as I’ve posted in the Ranger forums. We’ll see how far they let us go…

So there is a way how can they make really good for skins everyone – we just have to guess what? to Wait. This is exactly why we need a better crafting/post-craft custom crafting system.
For example: Azureflame+Abyss Dye+Paint Blueprint+10 MF Stone = Ascended Black textured Azureflame

Name one other company that has “hundreds of skins” in their game for armor choices.

Listen people. I’m not arguing about the fact we get something now, and I know it is a really nice thing at least.

My problem is, I want to get something, but something I would even like. Now this is something you people can’t argue with.

This is why I’ve suggested to have different sets unlocked as whole at each milestone of AP. This way, everyone would have something he/she wants, and wouldn’t be a problem if you don’t like the current unlock – you’ll get another style at next!
So it keeps people motivated to go further and further with APs.
Right now, you can pick up some Zenith by time, and thats all. it would go very long if someone wants to collect all of them, and I’m sure arenanet don’t want limits on these sets

I hope you guys now get my logic and mean.

Yes, we get what you are saying. You want more rewards for less effort and ones that you “like”. Even though it’s impossible for the designers at Anet to know what that is, specifically.

I’m not disappointed with the rewards, but I really think they should have reworked the AP system before they implemented it so it was balanced. A lot of the WvW rewards will take in excess of 10 years playing 18 hours a day doing the exact thing that is required for the achievement, yet its worth the same amount of AP that I can get for another achievement that takes me a couple of hours…

They can balance wv3 achievements separately because most, if not all of them, will be getting massive buffs (hopefully).

If you don’t want to unlock something, you don’t need to open the chest.

Jeesus spare us BS.

“If you dont like it dont do it”.

I am semi disappointed too. I thought there would be a wider variety of things. I’ll grab the few skins I need and be done with it, again, not giving a crap about achievement points because the reward for all of it is small.

Even if you don’t like the skins, 15g for 5000 points is small? 30g for 10000 points is small? By the time you’ve reached 10000 points you’ll be handed a total of 70g for literally “doing nothing”.

Not to mention the laurels, gems, account bonuses, boosts, and gem store items that you’ll be getting too and all for free. Small?

I guess if you play the market and are flipping precursors then those gold amounts are not an incentive, but for everyone else? Hardly small.

This is taking entitlement to an entire new level.

Well consider this: I have 4700 points, so almost at that 5000 point mark for around 15 gold. That is with 1000 hours played.

Someone starting out, when they get 500 points and get a gold that is nice $$ to get, but time spent vs money earned..ehh I dont know. Its not like someone racks up 500 points in a few hours.

I havent gotten any gems yet.

Ive gotten loads of crappy armor skins that I never liked looking at to begin with in the mists.

Boosts are nice.

Weapon skins are nice, although giving us only ONE choice, for say a short bow…everyone will run with it(and by everyone I mean a lot of people). I figur’ed we would have a better variety here.

And its not that we get 70 gold for doing nothing. Thats a lot of hours played…whether fun, or not..grinding or not.

It doesn’t matter how long it took. I’m in a similar situation to you, around 1000 hours now, and just about 5900 ap. I didn’t go out of my way to earn a single one of those points. I don’t farm, I don’t grind, I just played. Anet is giving me stuff for just playing the game, as far as I’m concerned that is only good.

People saying they don’t like the skins, or that the rewards are small? So what. Four days ago we didn’t get anything for our efforts. Now we do, and it’s not good enough? There is a word for that and it’s entitlement. People thinking they are owed something when they are not.

Also I’m pretty sure they’ll be adding more to the rewards system too. I remember reading that it’s still incomplete. Sad part is I don’t remember exactly where I read that.

P.S. I didn’t include the pvp items or titles (one at 5k ap, and one at 10k ap) in my earlier list.

Zenith Weapons - More skins later??

fellyn.5083

Looking through the later chests in the achievement panel you can see what is coming which is good but I noticed that the weapon skins are the same at the later tiers as they were at the earlier ones. Will the other skins show up later, like the torch, etc?

There are no “tiers” for weapons. When you hover over the chest it just doesn’t show every weapon you can pick from indicated by the “…” in the lower right of the list. At least I’m pretty certain that’s how it works.

So I think you’ll be able to get them in any order you want.

I’m just a bit miffed that we have to wait 24 hours to get another chest, and then another 24 hours… kind of defeats the purpose of having the rewards be retroactive.

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

Problem: The leader boards, not the HoM achievements. People only started making a big deal about achievement points in the last week or so because they knew things were going to change and we’d get real rewards from them.

All of these complaints come from people who think everyone else in the game should care about their place on the leader boards.

Solution: Remove the pve leaderboard, or at the very least make it so it’s friends only.

Problem: solved!

So am I seeing it right that, at least to 2500 AP, there is nothing Engis can use? Really???

But let’s make sure all the Warriors can have their greatsword. Wee.

I’m pretty sure the list when you hover over the reward box doesn’t show everything you can choose from. In the lower right corner there is “…” and I take that to mean that there is more to see. They did that to make it so the list isn’t obnoxiously long.

Besides that it doesn’t make sense to only let people choose from random weapons at random reward points.

Nick, that’s not what I’m saying. I said they deserve something for playing Guild Wars 1 and being a loyal customer – the 50 total achievement points, skins, AND titles is enough of a reward in my opinion.

To make it a requirement to play Guild Wars 1 in order to make the GUILD WARS 2 leaderboard is not fair. 500 Achievement points vs 50 achievement points rewarded before is a huge difference.

There’s your problem. You’re worried about the leader board. Stop worrying about it and your problem goes away.

Daily PVE achievement point caps

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

fellyn.5083

I really don’t get the argument that casual players need to catch up. And why make a big deal about daily and monthly achievement points that everyone who plays the game can get every single day, but not time limited achievements that go away? Even if you cap points at 5 for a day a new/casual player who missed some events will never be able to catch up anyways.

I just don’t see what purpose it would serve. There is always going to be some one new, and there is always going to be the hardcore players. The way it’s set up now the game caters to both. If you’re new and want to “catch up” you can work to get as many points as you can in a day/month. If you’re hardcore and want to go for a top 100 spot on the leader board you can do the same. If you’re casual you probably don’t care either way. It’s fair.

Ya know, I think the people who claim new and casual players need to catch up are the same ones who think it needs to take 1+ years to make a legendary weapon and that RNG is a good game mechanic.

Hence why I gave examples to mitigate the damages via more achievements. If they want to keep up a leaderboard about this , then yes, it should be fair.

So you want to take points from people who have already earned them and then tell them that to get back to where they were as far as points go, they have to earn them again?

The kitten storm that would follow if such a change was made would be amazing to see.

They’ve done worse in gw1, let people cry. BTW people used to have over 40k from salvaging, they’ve got over it.

They got over it because it was a blatant exploit and they likely knew it would be fixed.

And it wasn’t from salvaging. That costs to much. It was from transmuting, which also had an unlimited tier, and it just so happened that you could get unlimited transmuting items from the HoM.

And what did they do in GW1 that was much worse? I played GW1 from the first day it was out until well after Eye of the North came out and I don’t remember anything happening on the scale of what you are proposing.

Transmutation glitch was fixed a LONG time ago. Salvaging wasn’t an exploit, it simply wasn’t capped. And yes, I have a personal friend who had over 15k achievement points off of salvaging alone. He played the trading post in a way that required him to salvage 1000s upon 1000s of mats. For a while he owned 60-80% of the t2 or t3(IDR) leather. Yes he was very rich in game, and he quit about 3 months ago. Kiera {somthing} was his charecter’s name.

We’re not saying points should be removed. We’re saying that the points should not be counted towards the rewards, leaving the leaderboards intact. Nothing more or less.

And how do you know they will be? From the info that anet has released so far it says that you will have to complete certain achievements to unlock rewards. Hence the whole “new UI to track achievement progress” thing they are adding. It’s not based on how many achievement points you have so far, which is what this entire argument that dailies/monthlies shouldn’t count is based on.

It’s all speculation at best and pointless to worry about until we know exactly how it will work.

Lol people are disapproving of the new rewards before we even know just what these rewards are? Yeah, they gave us a basic description but no more. Seriously, guys?

Also, is there any evidence that this was a direct response to the community? Honestly, I highly doubt it. Developers don’t plan a massive game like GW2 without a good, solid plan for the future. My guess is that they have had this in mind for plenty of time now. They may have even hoped to add these rewards from day one.

Let’s all take a chill pill, people! Read my sig…

I’m pretty sure this achievement system update has been in the works since they first started tweaking achievements. Which was what..February? March?

Pure speculation. Again, though, we don’t even know what these rewards will be. There’s no sense in complaining about them now. That’s like a little kid who complains about his mom’s dinner before he even tastes it.

Well..it’s not. When they first announced they were making changes to the achievement system back then they said we’d be able to get laurels via achievements.

At any rate, I’m not complaining.

I still don’t get why this should ever be different. You chose to only play WvW, so you choose to only play a small portion of the game so getting less achievement points then people playing all of the game is a pretty logical thing.

No. The issue is that the people who only play PvE will get a lot more achievement points then the players who only do WvW.

The WvW achievements are very limited, award very few achievementpoints and the higher tiers on most achievement (tier 4, tier 5) are pretty much impossible to do.

When i play WvW all day why shouldnt i get as much reward as people who do PvE all day? My contribution helps the whole server with serverwide boosts. PvE players help only themselves.

Then the problem isn’t how rewarding pve achievements are. It’s how unrewarding wvw achievements.

I guess all we can do now is wait till Tuesday and see. I don’t really care to spend anything on them either but I just cant see there being zero cost beyond AP unlocking for some nagging reason at the back of my mind.

Probably because Anet hasn’t been very generous with rewards since the game came out. Most everything if we could actually get it just by playing required massive grind and rng.

March?

Err…are you really asking if we’re sure if we want more stuff to work towards? Because the answer is a definite yes.

If by “work” you mean “doing easy and mindless activities that a bot could do better than a human being, pretty much like a Skinner rat pushing its small lever over and over”, aka grinding and farming… The answer is “no, thank you”.

Good games are about having fun, not about farming, grinding or even about receiving some kind of reward. Unfortunatelly, MMORPGs are not good games, and they have their small legion of addicts who don’t understand what a good game actually is.

Because I don’t know you and you don’t know me I’ll just say that I hate the grinding as much as anyone. I want fun game mechanics that are challenging to complete and don’t revolve around bosses with millions of hp and cheap 1 shot mechanics that artificially inflate difficulty. The aetherblade retreat is a good start to that but it was still a little over tuned in certain parts (the laser fences coupled with golems that pull you around was pretty cheap).

So I think we’re on the same page as far as that goes. But I still want to be rewarded for my efforts.

not sure how paying a few laurel or karma or something for the skins that you unlock is being elitist. If you have played long enough to unlock the acheivment points required for these things surely you can handle paying 10-20-30 laurel or 42.5k karma. Do realize that some of these skins are probably unlocked at 5k + achieve points. Im betting some are 10k + to give exreme people some goal. If you have put that much time in game the currencies are peanuts.

The reality is that many people are over 5k achieve points and anet isn’t just going to give free skins. They will want to you put some effort into acquiring them when Tuesday comes. Hopefully you saved some karma, laurels, gold and ecto.

Oh and to address your fears about having to buy the same skin every 5 lvls to 80. Go look in your bank and tell me how many transmutation stones you have….I got 76. YES they will work with these new skins on nooby gear just the same as they work if you have hom gear and want to save the rune when upgrading you can save the hom skin to save you a trip to the HoM.

Yes, but how long does it take to reach 5000 ap for a regular player? I’ve around 900 hours after almost a year and I just reached 5000 ap last week. There is no reason why they need to attach a cost to use the items once they’ve been unlocked, that’s just absurd.

And I’m 100% certain the items will work like HoM as far using them goes. Where you put it on an already made item that has the stats you want. It’s not going to be an entire new item. It’s just a skin.

I get what you’re saying about the complaints though. I find it extremely odd people are complaining about the achievement rewards already when we don’t even know exactly how it works yet. They can’t even put that kitten off for 1 week to see how it’s gonna go.

What are your 3 biggest problems with GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: fellyn.5083

fellyn.5083

For me..

1: More bigger dynamic event chains. Imagine huge castle sieges similar to ones in wvw only for pve. Where you need to attack from different places and have different objectives that need to be met to advance the event.

This is how I imagined Orr would be when we first started hearing about it and was more than a little disappointed it’s not. I think this sort of thing can be easily done and it saddens me that none of the dyanmic events as ambitious as I’m talking about. Make it so once they’re taken over they need to be defended too and the rewards given out from these sort of events could be limitless.

Anything from world buffs to gold to rare loot that is actually worthwhile. Precursors, I’m looking at you.

These events could actually stand a chance at failing even when they are zerged.

2: RNG. It’s not fun and a lazy game mechanic.

3: We need new weapons. Or a better weapon skill progression system.

It would be great if it were like the HoM, however something tells me that it won’t. Why? because their post about the AP states you can “trade” them for currency, gold, gems or laurels.

I think those rewards will be 1 time.

Another thing I’ve noticed in the preview shots:
Don’t expect full suits of armour.
The pieces displayed are helmet, shoulders and gloves.
Looks like doing a full set of even derivative stuff is too much like hard work for ArenaNet.

All the official sources that talk about it say full sets. Besides that, maybe they didn’t want to show off everything all at once, which seems likely or that they didn’t even have the complete sets finished when the screen shots were take for the promo?

And what the hell guys. First new armor sets we’ve had in the game since launch, and you’re actually complaining? Really? And it’s not even out yet.

Daily PVE achievement point caps

in Bazaar of the Four Winds

Posted by: fellyn.5083

fellyn.5083

I’ll state that I like the achievement system. Everything that has been done and that is coming soon. I am glad we have so many choices for completing the daily achievements.

Being in the top 500 achievers, I dislike grinding all achievements in the daily to stay competitive with the top people in the achievement leader-boards.

I do enjoy all the variety of activities, but don’t like spending the 2-3 hours that I play just trying to get the achievement points. I like doing lots of various activities, however I end up focusing on the achievement activities rather than on things I enjoy more than others.

I’ve been thinking for a while, that it would be nice if the daily PVE achievements capped out at 5, with number required for the daily. This would definitely give me some sanity and would help even out the achievement point gain for more casual types that just want their laurels and mystic coins.

Granted, it is a choice that I make, so take this with a grain of salt. I only make this is a suggestion and to hear what peoples thoughts on it are.

What are your thoughts on this?

Because you take things to an excess you want it capped?

Well if you can’t manage yourself get some one else to do it, I guess.

There's nothing legendary about it.

You did it lobsided.

1/ you start with the cheap items, to end with the most expensive component? That’s silly. You don’t buy the spoiler for a car you don’t own.

2/ you complain about the so-called flippers but fail to see how they provide you with a 100% chance at precursors.

3/ You presume these precursors are owned by dishonest people, which is a dishonest presumption.

I don’t flip, I’m too casual for that. But I do see the value these guys offer me: 100% chance for my precursor. Once I have that, I can start on the rest of my gifts. Economics 101.

So your idea of legendary is to buy components for it on the market like any other random piece of junk?

Though I do hope they remove the AP from people who salvaged or transmuted thousands and thousands of items to get massive points.

They already did when they set the cap for those achievements.

I thought that was the case but doing the salvage monthly last month I got the salvage achievement twice so I thought it might still be like it used to be with unlimited levels.

I think Your AP will correlate with your spendable points, but when you purchase something, your AP will still be the same, you just won’t have as much spendable points.

That would be very disappointing. There is no reason why they can’t make it like the HoM is now, where we can access the rewards as much as we want.

Though I do hope they remove the AP from people who salvaged or transmuted thousands and thousands of items to get massive points.

Did no one else notice the picture of the slyvari with the amazing looking staff or the human female with ornate looking armor that isn’t fire themed?

Nope? Just saw the fire stuff and your first reaction was to complain? Righto.

I could be wrong but the language they use on the webpage implies that it will be a system similar to the HoM.

“From now on, you’ll be able to unlock rewards like exclusive new armor skins, weapon skins, and permanent account bonuses as you earn achievement points on your account.”

“These rewards will be retroactively awarded for any tiers of account achievement rewards you’ve already earned on your account.”

Capes can potentially work and look good on a charr, though.

The reward chances are broken, I don’t think proof is needed here. For reference point, I’ve committed close to 2000 hours in Guild Wars 2 and have never had an item worth more than 5 gold.

Nobody ever promised that you’d get a precursor in less than 500 hours, 2000 hours, 4000 hours and so on.

You conceived an arbitrary expectation for no reason whatsoever, and now rant because it wasn’t fulfilled.

How long do you propose people play before they’re “worthy” in your eyes, of a reward? Because after investing 2000 hours into something and not having anything to show for it most people are going to quit and tell everyone who will listen to avoid the game.

I still don’t get why you’re defending such a bad game mechanic as rng.

Legendaries and similar skins are supposed to be rare, select few people are supposed to have them.

If you insist on arbitrary numbers, let’s do some arbitrary math with your 2000-hour precursors. A population of 2.000.000 players that plays on average only two hours per day, after a year of farming will generate over 700.000 precursors. With 20 precursor models, that’s 35.000 precursors of each type, after only one year.

If you don’t understand how “unrare” that is, consider that TP currently shows about 10.000 Globs of Ectoplasm. Or, there are only about 20-30 each of the cheapest and kittentiest exotic items that are much more easy to come by.

Where has Anet ever said legendary weapons are supposed to be rare and only a select few (ironically, chosen at complete random) deserve to have them?

And if your retort is “you can precursors off the market”. In what way is buying one of the main ingredients for such admittedly rare weapons that only a few deserve off the market like any other common piece of junk legendary?

You didn’t answer my question. If a way can be made to get precursor weapons that is fun and challenging, why on earth would you defend RNG over that? Just to keep them rare?

New flash; they aren’t exactly rare anymore. Nor are they the prestige items people like you claim they should be because anyone can buy one if they spend enough real money.
