Kaineng Assessment - Not ready for T2/T3

A server with only oceanic presence will not do well in T1/T2. Considering the 4 T1 servers all have pretty good oceanic crews.

The big 4 are nothing to joke about.

Are you implying you think Kain has no NA presence, or what?

From what I have heard, Kaineng only has a good oceanic presence mainly because of WM and that alone.

I do not know how it exactly is obviously but it seems that the oceanic presence is what has been the biggest part of it.

Right, well, on reset night we had queues on all 4 maps and that has been common for several weeks.

Please note I’m not saying numbers = skill. But to say that we only win because of WM is a bit ridiculous and unfair to everyone else on the server.

I think he’s implying that some people say YB and CD held you guys during N/A primetime at reset. I don’t know if that’s true or not. If it is true, Kaineng relies very heavily on its overnight for victory, which means you’ll be in for a rude awakening in T3, would get stomped in T2, and T1 will only be a twinkle in your master’s eye.

This isn’t saying YB and CD are bad at NA, but that their NA coverage is not as large as those in higher tiers and their Oceanic/Asian is very very small. Again, this is all speculation because you guys have swamped all your competitors with population/coverage so far. 29 hours until we find out.

I’ll not deny that they gave us one hell of a fight reset night, better than other server has done in a month, but we were still winning ppt for the entire night until the oceanic people took over.

Take from that what you will.

My favorite part of every week has been people thinking we have zergs everywhere and at all times. Keep it up keyboard warriors. I’m sure some people appreciate you.

You’re priceless, really. The only keyboard warrior here is you. Everytime someone says they’ve taken a garrison or something, you come here all buttmad and make excuses. “We were outnumbered!” Whatever. Both Yak’s and CD have been outnumbered since day 1. Deal with it.

Err..welll…that’s not true.

Bahah, lets all just move along. Nothing to see here folks, just ignore it.

So you didn’t play the day of the reset then? Because the numbers were pretty even during those first hours.

Difference between outnumbered some of the time and outnumbered all the time. That person claimed to have been outnumbered since the start which is an outright lie.

But hey…small victories, I guess.

They want it to take longer than it does for exotics. Apparently they want it to take a month per piece. The fact that it takes less to get it from a method that not only is more difficult, but also may give you a ring with stats you don’t prefer, is something to think about, but it’s not that bad.

Does the monthly really only give 10, though? I was thinking it’d give 15-20. Where have the devs said this? The monthly for this month wasn’t supposed to give any laurels.

It’s in the Jan 28 patch notes.

So after having a bit of time to play I agree this seems broken.

Just being in malchors leap and being downlevel’d from 80 to 77, my dps is literally cut in half. Losing 3 levels should not make me lose almost exactly half my dps. I’m not exaggerating either as people will think I am. It took me while to realize what was causing my loss in damage though.

Something is wrong in their calculations.

Old level scaling system was perfect, please bring it back to the game.

Agreed, but it’s very unlikely they will revert this change.

Side note, in the level 15-25 zone I was doing comparatively more damage than I was doing being downlevel’d to 77. The calculations they used to decide damage for this seems way off.

It’s entirely likely the exotics you get from the boxes will be account bound like the ones in fractals.

Not that that has anything to do with wv3 where the number of people present at any given moment can be higher or lower though. I still think it’s worse than before.

Why is encouraging people to change their playstyles a bad thing?

I understand what you are saying… but this isn’t about changing playstyle (that I don’t want to change anyway) but it is now a task that now forces me to co-operate when I don’t wish to. I don’t have time to or inclination to do so.

If it stays like this, I will move on… another game perhaps. I don’t do dungeons or fractuals for the same reason. I don’t have time. The mechanic for accumulating a reward of say Karma based armour has now been put outside the realms of the time I am prepared to invest in playing.

To clarify, I am now expected to perform certain tasks that I would rather not do every day rather than achieve them via just playing which I can do each day for 30 minutes.

If you have no will to play with other people what exactly are you doing in a multiplayer game? And this also begs the question of what exactly you do actually do in game that you’re so against playing with other people?

And as some one else pointed out, they removed the combo daily and you can revive npcs. I can think of quite a few places across all level ranges where I could go to revive npcs and get it done easily. And also npc revives also count towards the combat medic title achievement as a side benefit.

All things considered these new dailies are easier to finish than the older one and more interesting to do at the same time.

To tell the truth I think they could afford to bring a few back since they removed the chain-CC spam, which was the real problem. I could take on 6-10 orr mobs at a time before (once they wasted all their CC against my stability), now they’re so thinned out I can’t even find more than one or two at a time, which isn’t even remotely challenging or rewarding.

They weren’t reward before..

I think you mean ‘rewarding’.

And they were to me, because I liked the challenge. Now that’s gone, and yes I know the zone is improved and the changes were sorely needed. But I think they went a little too far, excepting the risen giants and the temple events, both of which require groups, Orr doesn’t feel anymore challenging than your typical 1-15 zone now.

Thank you Monsieur Grammar Police, that is exactly what I meant.

The thing is though the mobs in Orr were never challenging, just annoying. Coupled with the insane respawn times (has that been fixed too?) it just made the entire area way more tedious than it needed to be.

Like I said before. You guys are complaining about something that is not even half finished. Anet has said from the start that the changes they made yesterday are only the start of the changes they are making to the achievement system.

In in the next two updates (the ones that are supposed to be equal to a full expansion worth of content) there will be more ways to get laurels and more ways to get ascended gear and hopefully more things to spend them on.

It’s entirely likely that once those updates go live in the next two months we’ll log on and find out that we have a lot more laurels than we did before. The big hint is that they’ve talked about having to tweak the repeatable and unlimited achievements.

Complaining and over reacting for no reason at all.

In my opinion, this game requires too much grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

fellyn.5083

Hi I like the rest of you bought into this game but I feel like I was punched in the gut and laughed at.
This game was suppose to built on not having grind. This was one of Anet’s key manifesto points however now:
1. Legendary weapon grind
2. Gold Grind – you need atleast 100 gold for the ideal build and armor you want. If you want any of the ‘special’ weapon look at grinding out atleast another 300-500 gold (legend range for a min of 1.5k to 2.5k) -unless your brilliant at investing or lucky your looking at around 50-60 hours of grinding to get the armor and build you want. Ironically in GW1 which was ‘suppose’ to be more of a grind this was alot simplier and easier.
Another key point of their manifesto was no gear grind as of now there is:
1. Ascended gear (what?! isn’t this what they said WOULD NOT happen? Did they not say how they disproved of this? How the game should be about having fun?)
They already stated they tend to add more gear grinds later how (Why? The game was released for only 3 months and Anet felt they had to add in a gear grind already?) I can’t imagine what will happen in a year from now.
2. Karma gear -to get one set of karma get you need atleast 240k karma. Yeah for the above avg. causal – to hardcore this is possible but for us casuals this is NOT possible in a reasonable amount of time.

And finally did they not state how this was directed towards everyday? People who simply do not have the time to put in 100s of hours into the game? The information given above tends to differ.
What I don’t understand and what the community in general is confused about is why this game was marked towards people who don’t like grind. Simple put, why not market it towards the people that love grind? (not saying that is bad but it is a completly different market)

How can anyone take you seriously when you so completely exaggerate. It takes nowhere near 100g to get a character kitted out in full exotics.

Just run some dungeons and you can get a full set of exotic armor inside of a week playing 1-2 hours a day. Compared to what it was at launch that’s nothing. And outside of repair costs that requires 0 gold.

I’m talking about exotics that look the way you want them to. So add in Dye(s) and runes and my cost also includes jewlews and rings and backpacks etc.

What you’re talking about are things that are purely cosmetic. I’m guessing you’re new to the Guild Wars games because that’s how it was in GW1 as well.

You can get the very basics quite easily but the cosmetic good looking stuff took a lot of work. Anet has never lied that GW2 would be any different than it is as far as that goes.

And like I said if you do dungeons you can potentially make a lot of money so getting the accessories won’t be all that hard.

Wow it’s been a while since we’ve seen one of these threads. I’d thought we were beyond this by now.

Maybe they can make World vs. World only accessible during certain times depending on whether the server is a US server or EU server but now that ArenaNet has already established no more free world transfers it will be impossible to follow this plan out unless they make exceptions.

On high pop servers that would make queues absolutely unbearable. On some there are already long queues as it is now.

Sorry to break it to you but as far as warriors are concerned condition damage is pretty gimp. The only condition we can stack fairly reliably is bleed and both necro and thief do that far better. You can use swords/sword and do pretty well but it’s not really going to be optimal due to the hard cap of 25 stacks on conditions coupled with other classes that do conditions better..

That being said it’s a good starter set for you as it saved you money from having to craft a set of armor.

Best advice would be to either go for another dungeon set or start farming karma to get the karma gear. CoF has berserker stats while the Arah set has knight stats, both of which will probably be the most recommended stat combos for warrior.

Of course this all depends on what kind of build you’re going for, too.

I’ll just say this. GW1 didn’t have all the skills it does now when that game first came out. Expansions will add new weapons and skills.

True, although a good amount of skills we might get in the future will be limited by the highly restrictive weapon based groundwork they have set already.

The dual profession approach from gw1 basically meant, that each new class being added would directly contribute more options to your existing main classes. In gw2, this is no longer the case, because they feared too much complexity, both in balancing it and noob players comprehending it.

Maybe. Maybe not. They could easily evolve the current system. I think eventually they’ll almost have to allow us to pick weapon skills because they’ll probably run out of weapon types (giant 2 handed axe for warrior please!) to give us long before they run out of skills to put on them. At the very least they might allow us to choose different complete skill sets for them.

Then when/if that happens, not so different from GW1.

Maybe they should have restricted it a bit more. Make it so that if you’re level 1 you can only join up to 10. And if you’re level 11 you could only join up to 20 and so on.

It wouldn’t stop people from kicking people so their guild mates can join them or whatever but it would stop people from joining games where they aren’t geared for it.

Have people link AR gear before bringing them to much higher level fractals.

That won’t work because when you link your rings it doesn’t show the infusions you have in them. Though it does show the hard infusion.

About the new dailies…all things considered I finished them more quickly than I did the old ones.

A few tips – don’t set out to do things like get 10 combo kills. Just go to a place like Orr (that place has more people than ever before in it now, it’s crazy) and do some events. Especially the event chains to unlock the temples. You’ll be done in minutes.

And for the dodge one, go to southsun and fight the karka. Dodging their initial attack will get you 2 or 3 evades/dodges. It took maybe 10 minutes. And there are 3 orichalcum veins there so it’s worth a trip to gather the place, too.

So game is built on GW1 engine. All those wonderfully unique and interesting skills aren’t in this version… whhaa!? consider this Anet. A warrior in gw1 has more than 200 unique WEAPON skills. an assassin also has more than 200 unique WEAPON skills. thats 400 descending skills for each slot.
You get 5 skills in GW2 with interesting combos from other weapons. 5 from greatsword. 3 from 1h sword, 2 more in the offhand. 3 from mace, etc. the combos are pretty cool… for awhile. but since the skills are LOCKED there isnt much room for variability.
To be fair lets take ONLY the first 5 slots from GW2 and apply the concept to GW1 using 400 factorial down to 396… the math is simple. 400X399X398X397X396 = 9986232009600 different possible combinations you could potentially have available to just 5 weapon slots. you read that correctly. nearly 10 trillion. Then stack the variation available with the concept of traits and major traits?
Coming from GW1 I was shocked, baffled, disappointed.
Please answer us as to why you took such a huge step in this direction. It was so much FUN creating and tinkering with different ideas.

What isnt fair of me is you said you wanted to take out the overlapping, bland, etc type skills. Well why not a compromise? Use the 1handed sword on a warrior for example. Number 1 is a chain with condition at the end. Add different “chains” that vary those conditions as possible skill slots. 2 is a gap closer, so why not vary the method with which you close? or sacrifice the closer for a ranged movement impairment. 3. the cripple. take it out for more damage? or a shorter version with a secondary condition applied.
Do we need 200 weapon skills? maybe not. I’d love to see it. but a healthy 3-5 for each slot in varying degrees?
Then come Elites. my gosh your signature ability for christ sake! what happened?

I’ll just say this. GW1 didn’t have all the skills it does now when that game first came out. Expansions will add new weapons and skills.

So.. why do you hate alts?

If they nerf AoE without and regard to game balance, you’ll have a problem.
If they change AoE to improve the game, as various dev posts intelligently illustrate they intend to do, you’ll be fine.

I can’t imagine myself playing this game where the strengths of most single target classes (Warrior, primarily who also have plenty of powerful AoE) continue to get stronger while AoE heavy classes just keep getting weaker patch after patch.

New name after patch: Warrior Wars 2

Here’s the thing though, warriors are not over powered in any way, shape, or form. In pve they may perform well but in both spvp and wv3 they are near the bottom of the list in terms of performance.

And just to be clear, hundred blades has many drawbacks attached to it’s use, namely it’s a 4 second self root channel that only hits 3 targets at a time. Which is the target of many peoples complaints. Let’s also not forget that to get those crazy big numbers you have to spec glass cannon which in melee range can get you killed quite quickly, especially when you’re struck in place.

I appreciate your response and since the ele is my main source of info (tied with guardian) I would have to say that the warrior is OP, at least compared to most other classes. Hundred blades drawbacks are all very similar to D/D Churning earth. Churning earth roots you for 3.25 seconds but you see none of that damage until the end. Churning earth also has a 30 second cooldown where as hundred blades has an 8 second cast time… And even when specced full glass cannon I can’t even match the damage of my friends lvl 80 warrior with hundred blades when he is running a mostly support build. AND my survivability is STILL lower than his while he is doing more damage than me. The only positive for churning earth is that you can teleport to the enemies vicinity using lightning flash, but that forces you to use up a utility slot just so you can make your strongest skill practicalish.

I understand what you’re saying and I agree to some extent. But that doesn’t mean warrior is op. It just means ele’s need work. What it would take to fix them I have no idea as I’m by no means an expert on eles. But for all intents and purposes warrior is the most balanced class in the game and has been since launch.

Hundred blades is just one skill. The only other complaint warriors get is kill shot, which I do agree could be toned down by quite a bit. So yeah, 2 entire skills are what people base their argument that warriors are op on.

Take those 2 things away and warrior is perfectly average. They don’t do anything better than any other class in the game and a lot of things worse. Which is why in spvp and wv3 they are considered not good.

How difficult would adding race changes be?

Not really much point in talking about it. Anet has flatout said they won’t be adding race changes to the game.

Kaineng shouldn't skip T3...

Not like we can do anything about it at this point. If you want to talk about what we do once we’re there then that makes sense.

The thing I’m curious about though is will the game let us actually skip tier 3? Has a server skipped tiers before?
