The meta is better but the matchmaking system can use improvement.
Well I’m just looking at it from my perspective of 8-20 min queues in the current system and I don’t want it to be any longer. You might say there’s a decent population but my queue times do not reflect that at all.
You severely overestimate the population of “real pvpers”.
snip
You pretty much completely miss my point and went off on a tangent on respect and unrelated stuff.
All I’m saying is without a proper incentive to keep playing in legend and even adding a DISINCENTIVE aka rating decay or division dropping, it’ll just completely ruin queue times of people that wish to play.
Sure people like supcutie or Java or those other ESL nice guys will continue playing and do just fine but for the rest of us who want a few games here and there during offpeak hours it’ll be hell and over 30 mins queue.
Honestly the biggest difficulty for me getting to legend this season was fighting the queue times. It’s kinda hard to move up when your games take 15 min to pop and another 10-15 minutes of playing. Make it worse? Oh man.
It’s funny people draw comparisons to LoL since they’re complaining a lot about Dynamic Queue (which is same as what we have as in premade and solo mix) and losing a lot of players due to that since you can smurf/buy carry etc.
It will be even better because those who arrive legendary have to be careful not to descend back to the diamond, the queue time will be high with or without a division loss.
Most that S2 arriving in legendary, gave up playing pvp or created another account to play again, I believe that with a fall in the division would be better to solve this problem.
That makes zero sense. If I make it to legend and there is potential tier loss, unless I am an ESL player I’m going to stop playing period. You say that most in S2 legend stop playing PvP, if you add division drops I can guarantee that it won’t be most people stop playing PvP, it’ll be majority stop playing PvP in legend.
There is zero incentive to risk losing legendary or even diamond.

Well if you’re going to disincentivize people from queuing like this, that’s basically RIP PvP for most of us that don’t play prime time.
This season I had regular 11-20 minute queues for Diamond/Legendary around halfway thru the season. By no means was I rushing at all. I would imagine with this new system you guys propose, I might as well not bother playing because games won’t pop after diamond, if that.
I miss SEA Time, it was great fighting cA/FUG/HIRE/AHMA with 3 map queues on TC/JQ/BG on EBG.
Nowadays it’s just a ghost town or some PPT stuff ain’t nobody got time for that. You can thank YB for the lack of activity in SEA.
Legendary incentives don’t necessary bring the people you want to the game mode. Look at the PvP backpiece and the long list of complaints about people who farm their profession achievements or just have no idea how to PvP.
It would suck if there were massive queues from people trying to farm their legendary rather than actually play WvW and prevent those who want to WvW from getting in due to queues.
I think most people would agree with you that seeing raids and SAB get all the updates while other parts of the game ‘languish’ is kinda bad.
I know I’d be annoyed if sPvP got everything for 8 months and every other game mode got nothing.
It just doesn’t make sense to blame the raid team or people who like raids though, it makes more sense to blame ANet for not delivering content that you want.
The point is they already proved they’re that level of player by reaching legend. With the added risk of losing that division there is little incentive for most players to continue playing after reaching legend.
I thought 20 min queues was bad enough already for me in legend, if you implement this system nobody will be able to play at all in legend cuz RIP q times
The point is, raiding in GW2 isn’t hardcore. Anyone can do it if they really wanted to bar some serious real life circumstances (eg. disabilities).
45 minutes clear raid wing 1 is standard nowadays in pug groups.
You can argue all day why and how but when raid wings are cleared faster than AC1-3 pre HoT, you can’t really call these raids “hardcore”.
Then don’t play it, nobody’s forcing you to play raids. It’s like complaining about hating SAB but wanting SAB yellow skins, nobody owes you anything.
I know i’m not entitled to legendary stuff that’s why I actually commit to doing raids and PvP for the backpiece instead of sitting here crying and being bad at the game and hoping they change the game to cater to me instead of self improvement.
If you care about the reward then do the content or buy it from raid sellers.
I don’t sit here complaining about tribulation mode in SAB and demanding storm wizard skins to be given to me by running infantile mode.
It’s the same for legendary weapons (pre HoT), WvW/PvPers had to do PvE that they had no interest in just to get a shiny. Now you guys have to raid even if you don’t want to, big whoop man up and get good or buy them.
None of you are entitled to anything, if you spent half the time posting here actually in game practicing, you’d have cleared all the raids and probably have them down on farm by now.
If nobody cares then i don’t see why you have to complain about it. Obviously you care or you wouldn’t complain right?
I guess being stuck is possible if you manage to be the 6th-10th lowest MMR out of the 10 every time you get a game roll. In theory that makes sense since you’re supposedly ‘the worst’ in that bracket but people argue that the difference between the 6th and the 5th guy isn’t really that great to warrant such different PvP experiences.
Idk
I agree tho if you’re stuck below ruby you’re probably bad and deserve to be there.
But the argument is that over time, the quality of ‘actual diamond players’ decreases a lot since everyone who is better already moved up. Thus, it is overall easier to move up later in the season. Which is also why we have bad legendaries, average legendaries and pro legend players.
Also the whole depending on what timezone you play really matters a lot. EU prime time on NA servers is noob farm central.
Same. Never seen a good player who’s toxic, only bad ones.
The complaints about S1 was that MMR on both teams are even which means if you had a high MMR you probably had a to carry a bunch of scrublords.
Nobody complained about the teams being ‘too balanced’, don’t be stupid
Man I should be rewarded with PvP legendary backpiece + legendary armor doing what I enjoy which is easy mode AFK-ing in DR since this game is marketed on play how you want. I just want to be able to work hard for and earn my legendary stuff by AFK-ing in DR rather than have to deal with the filthy elitist raiders. While you’re at it, I also want all the SAB skins too, for free, by AFK-ing in DR because that’s only fair.
/s
Tempests die pretty easily to spike damage or heavy condi pressure.
Usually thief/DH/rev/warrior with the burst role and a necro focusing on the condi and they melt pretty fast.
Use shovel dig until you get a bunny enemy, it will kill you and u can respawn.
Nothing was announced about soft wood changes either. I don’t see how an exact comparison is ‘silly’ just because it doesn’t fit with your rhetoric.
This is what I did but for diamond after being stuck for almost a week between T0-3. I queued with my legendary friend for 5 games (ended up 4 win 1 loss) and after that breezed to T6/7 diamond in like 2 days.
It’s good advice
As someone who spent over 10000g, nah it’s fine. You can’t expect anet to compensate you every time they change something. Where does it start/stop? Those guys who made nevermore before soft wood plank changes? The scribes? etc
Decap engy meta was the best. 15 minutes of knocking people on and off points and ending the game with < 200 score was the bestttttt!!!!!!f
It’s cuz all the good PvPers are playin the true real end game PvP which is SAB
Congrats on getting out of MMR HELL BRUH
It’s just pathetic how much time Ohoni spends on these forums trying to get easy mode raids yet if he spent even half that time instead in the game trying to git gud he’d have cleared both wings already.
They probably want us to redo them all yet again cuz it’s so fun! Gotta rerun all them fun fun fun exciting core fractals!!!!!
Idk if you realize but your real name irl is on the youtube thing might wanna remove that.
Also, props to posting a video of your actual gameplay, I hope you get some good feedback on how to improve and just ignore the trolls
At first I thought “how did these baddies get legend” then I realized they just didn’t care once they got there.
There’s no real incentive to try or play properly in legend, played for like a week in legend and it wasn’t really fun at all, just long q’s and lopsided wins or losses. Stopped at T5 X1 since i don’t really need the gold and most people that play in legend are probably just doing it for backpiece achievements (eg. profession)
I don’t play on alt at all but last night I had legend q’s of 20 minutes and the teams were not balanced at all. I won or lost by a landslide.
Maybe during NA prime you can play in legend but any other timezone it’s just a waste of time trying to get a game going.
I seriously considered getting an alt but I didn’t wanna ruin other ppl’s experience.
4-5 reaper teams generally have a tough time winning at higher levels because they lack mobility, lack sustain and generally don’t work very well together.
If you try and team fight 4v4 or 5v5, obviously you will lose to the necro but if you split it up and make it 1/2/2 or some other combination + out rotating them with +1s then you will probably win easily. Having an ele is a big plus too, once they blow all their cooldowns they have nothing to sustain and it’s gg.
God walking amongst mere peasants
Back on SoS when we first fought FA with Luvpie at the helm, it was interesting to fight Choo/HOPE because previous WvW experience was just pug blob fighting for me and it was amazing to see organized groups play well.
Also some amazing fights with CD/SBI in SEA time back before the CD guilds moved to TC and Olaf quit.
TC/DB in SoS garri during SEA time was pretty hilarious as well, we held for 2 hours against 2 full map qs those were the good days.
Honorable shout outs to guilds like KH/Meow/KA/TKG/MERC and a bunch of other OCX guilds too, lots of good fights and trolling throughout the years.
Ah sorry I mixed up the 2 spiders.
This spider is inside near the tombstone, I had wait 5-10 minute for her to spawn.
I don’t use Sigil of Ice or nightmare runes at all on my reaper, nerfing either would do nothing really to me lol.
The problem with reaper isn’t any of those 2 rune/sigil but rather the high dps/might uptime they can achieve by synergizing everything while running a tanky amulet (mercenary).
Like I can have 25 might easily in team fights in shroud and my chills/poison tick way too high compared to everything else despite being super tanky due to PVT+Rise!+Shroud combination.
@Rieselle you make a good point about having fun game play. Back when I played dota in WC3 there was no reward for losing but I kept playing because it was fun. GW2 PvP could be like that too.
@Cynz I recall when we had Glory and nothing to buy with it but 18 slot bags haha. You’re right PvP is nothing like PvE and perhaps my ideals of introducing PvErs to PvP to sustain population is a bad one.
I basically agree with everything you guys say, just trying to bring about different viewpoints but I’ll concede feeding people ‘teddy bear stamp for participation’ isn’t ideal.
And there are dozen of skins I will never get because…I don’t pve regularly and neither I belong to a raiding guild, I don’t see why pvers should feel so entitled to anything , are we talking about the same people who kick you out if you lack the correct gear for a raid? the same ones who said to have no time to teach you this and that trick to speed up the map clearing?
…Sorry somehow I don’t feel that “good” about giving the skin for free, if not can I get a reward track for the : ghostly infusion, legendary armor etc etc?
Just for “sheer effort” I should get my hands on the anything by your logic…sorry it doesn’t work like that anywhere, you’re either good enough to get it…or you don’t that’s how reality works both in pve and pvp apparently
I guess you’re right. I just feel bad for the guys who play a lot and don’t really get anywhere.
Is there any way to make them feel somewhat rewarded and not frustration with nothing to show for it? 30 loss streaks aren’t really a good thing for the health of the game. Some people might argue they’re just bad players who don’t deserve anything but I’d rather these bad players eventually get good and integrate into the PvP community rather than just rage quit and never come back to PvP.
Honestly they should’ve kept the backpiece and the divisions separate. This allows the skilled players or people who care, to climb to legend but leaving the people who can’t or won’t, still able to get the backpiece through sheer effort.
Some might argue that the PvP backpiece is prestige but I don’t see it that way at all, it’s just a farm and anyone who’s done any sort of PvP can get it over 2-4 PvP leagues. The prestige should have been the guild leaderboards the legend X10 or whatever leaderboards.
A simple fix would have been to remove divisions from the achievements and maybe change it to something else.
If you’re worth a 7 and you become a 9 in the team, you’ll get 9 team mates and not 7 which makes it even easier?
Unranked is where people go to test builds and generally muck around. Judging people’s skills in unranked is laughable at best.
Adding that would only worsen legend/diamond queue times since a lot of people do their class profession wins (or try to) due to the limited risk involved by not being able to drop divs.
Like if I knew I was risking losing legend, I’d just stop playing once I hit legend until next league and many other people would too.
I have already hit legend, but matchmaking is still complete trash. You get matched with the same team/party of people over and over into a tiltfest. Not very fun game play design IMO.
Can confirm even in legend balanced games aren’t common.
Hi, i farm these fastest doing orrian truffle run in CS + snow truffle in frostgorge + portbello mushrooms in Mount Maelstrom inside the troll cave.
Doing it on multiple character helps too.
I still need bladed armor so I’ll probably eventually still do VB. The other maps? Not so much.
Will still save up machetes from my ley line thingy every day tho.
Ok I misunderstood your post. I apologise. So you are logging in prime time and winning most of your matches. Well congratulations on figuring out the secret to MMR hell. Although it’s still hard to believe it’s as simple as the time of day you log in. What division are you in now and how is your progression?
Actually it is true what time of day matters a LOT.
I play during OCX/SEA so my queues in legend are 5-20 min (usually over 10). Some days I get sunfish (ESL player) other days I get diamond mesmers who look like they just copied metabattle and have no idea how to play.
I find that during NA prime you will get more people that are generally within your MMR range rather than wide spreads. This makes it slightly easier to coordinate since everyone is on similar skill level.
In diamond I decided that after 1-2 losses I would stop since the timezone didn’t favor me at all (usually blowouts) and only played if I was consistently winning since it would almost be always the same 6/10 people.
I was stuck in diamond T0 “MMR hell” for a while until I followed this principle to not tilt my gameplay due to bad matchmaking.
