I’ve lost matches because of:
MM necros
3-4 mesmers that refuse to swap
3-4 thieves that refuse to swap
Pushing far when they have 4 respawns
Bad play by me
People that push far 1v1 and die at the start
Getting team mates who don’t call targets
etc
The only reason I have the one win is because I saved 8 people from mid via Search and Rescue. Take away those 40 points and I’m dying. I was a Legend last year via complete solo queue.
I agree. I was Legend in Season 1 too and the same thing is happening to me. When i was in ruby matches were fine, but once i reached half of diamond division, i almost never win to conditions outside of me. I did everything possible to carry the games, but no deal…no matter how skilled i play. I was always in first place of the team in performance…but the team exploded against the enemy when they went 1v1 or team fights.
This. I went to T5 diamond then dropped a lot and lost a ton of games due to people playing warrior or thieves and just generally being bad.
Some games I played poorly and I could tell I lost it for the team but those were far and few with most of the losses just basically from comp or utter incompetence of team mates.
There’s really not much you can do when your team decides to queue with 4 mesmers and not swap as a solo queuer. RIP in pipperonis
Can’t really ‘out rotate’ anyone in stronghold if they do some cheese necro MM rush strat + ele sustain on the door breakers which seems to be what happened in the OP?
This is why I don’t play stronghold unless I have a full premade comp
The endless snowball doesn’t even work in raid wing 2. Makes the whole wing unplayable!

I had no pip in diamond and i had 2 legendary in my game. So yeah I duno what anet did.
It’s regularly bugged for me, I had to wait over 5 days to get a non bugged map for my juggernaut collection or was it quip I forgot.
I mean I get Chaith and Caed ON my team sometimes and other times I get total dweebs. Either they expanded the MMR range heaps or something’s weird.
I see the same issues in diamond now. I’m not a top player but I get matches with people from esportz teams like Chaith and Caed?
I’m definitely not their tier but somehow MMR thinks I’m there.
On the flip side, I get matched with random people playing useless warrior and 2 DH against a meta 2 nec/druid/ele/rev comp so rip idk what’s going on anymore.
Winning is always better than losing the 3rd match for the bonus pip. You need to actually win the next match to get the pip back so basically you’re going to get 2 pips either way with a win/win or a lose/win.
If you think throwing the 3rd match just to get the bonus pip is a smart idea maybe you belong in “MMR hell”.
I think you need to get some WvW experience so you can the treb in PvP then you’ll be god tier
Calling targets is super important. If you see a rev or thief coming your way from your team, call target so they can traverse terrain to get to the target rather than have visual before being able to target them.
You’re queueing stronghold and wondering why your queue times are long?
Well at that point you should probably take a break and/or wait till they move up honestly.
If you can, try a different timezone too it might help.
I’m surprised you didn’t complain about the stupid RNG in Bifrost 3 from the Corals that you needed for the paint lol.
Anyway congrats, not sure if you’re world first but you beat me. I only did all the non-HoT pres and nevermore pre so far, stopped cuz of PvP leagues.
Block the mesmer. Watch if he’s in game, if he is, queue up. Queue dodge, we’ve all done it and you should too
I stopped getting blowouts around ruby. Not every match was tight to the teeth but it was very rare to get 500-200s anymore.
I had the same hammer rev for 4 games in ruby, had to try extra hard for the win but it’s doable even if your team mates aren’t the best. Riding the MMR wave only works for a while until you get real opposition.

SEA/OCX won’t be playing if it’s LATE EU. That’s like 6am – 9am for us or some weird time.
OCX would be playing around maybe 1am PST and SEA would be 4am PST (rough guesttimates). The OCX population for PvP barely exists anyway, even when I queue I get NA players on my team who don’t sleep rather than Australians.
As much as I agree that fractals have gotten jack for a long long long time and HoT only made it worse, it’s not really fair to blame the raid team for that.
You wouldn’t blame the raid team for the lack of WvW updates either, it just makes no sense.
If someone duo on your team you have a chance to run into 5 premade. If all solo you have a chance to run into 4 prem+1 solo. But hey, in s1 premades were only “1%”
No, they said a FULL PREMADE (5 man) vs 5 SOLO QUEUE players was 1% of all games.
There’s definitely more premades than just 1%
They reintroduced like 100 briefly during one halloween for those shiny skritt ticket things. But yeah outside of that no reintroduction.
I think a lot of ppl just sell the skin cuz they need $$$$ for the HoT stuff and shield isn’t a very widely used thing outside of mesmer right now.
I think I’ve bought like 2 and haven’t seen any for months though might be broken so try and ask support?

Definitely have to adapt with thief. I had 2 games today with a thief and both times trying to open team fight mid we lost. Came back after we just played sides then split them up where thief can really shine.

I was a pug there, I never lead SCAR so I don’t know what you’re on about. I just remember how mad salty you were being called out that you were breaking the scaling even though the commander already had 20 in squad.
I don’t care what guild you’re in or who you think you are but that’s what happened from my perspective, as a person who was simply there for the meta following the commander.
In the end some nice people moved to other lanes from the squad because of your selfish actions. If anything it just made your guild EG look bad for thinking they knew better in a pug map.
If almost everyone in the 20 man squad wanted you to go away maybe the problem was you rather than the entire squad and with an attitude like “I’m Iris from EG I’m gud I know better than you” who can blame them?

Never had q time problems this season or last unless I picked stronghold which never pops
I had a game where we stomped them 500-120 and everyone on their team was legit bad. Then the next game I got 2 of those people on my team and we lost 400-500. Don’t really know why they put them on my team but w/e, I don’t think the MMR stuff is working properly.
Yeah I had a 500-120 or so game today where the other side had ok players who knew how to rotate and fight etc. Their only problem was they had a thief with 0 points spamming shortbow on ledges and getting 1 shot every time our revs looked at him.
I feel bad for that team, their MMR will just keep dropping even though they’re not half bad.
will cause many of the new, average, and bad players to just give up before matchmaking becomes balance again. Call it quits and go home.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic but every game mode needs new blood or it just dies a slow death. Taking WvW as an example, not having new pugs/guilds/players drains the playerbase as hardcore/vets move on, the same will happen in PvP.
There aren’t even enough players/teams for those ESL weekly matches, the last thing PvP needs is a ‘we dont need those players’ mentality.
They merged too many traits into one so now some traits are clearly superior OP and the rest suck. I’d probably reshuffle stuff so that there’s an actual choice required in traits (payoff/result etc) rather than just pick the one with 4 different good things bundled in.
There’s no way to have a high diversity of good builds if some traits are clearly OP. Either nerf some of them to be in line with the rest, or rework the bad traits into something people might actually pick.

I got legend last season and I’m on saph now. 2/4 T4 League Elite so I need diamond and i’ll be done.
So that’s crossing 5 div + 4 div = 9 div total? Ruby is 3 div so 3,3,2,2 is enough to get the backpiece. Even 3,2,2,2 seems to be enough ?
So just with enough effort anyone can really get the backpiece, ruby x 1 + saph x 3.
I’m pretty sure it’s Ruby Ruby Saph Saph for the backpiece minimum and 60 days + the achievements. It’s really not that bad, even my friend who only plays casually is halfway done with the backpiece.
Balanced for PvP doesn’t mean it’s balanced for PvE at all. Imagine if they buffed banners on warrior to usable levels in PvP (as in meta), they would be severely OP in PvE.
The situations in PvP and PvE are just totally different, for example, you would not be chaining symbol auto attacks on guardian hammer and stacking them for DPS in PvP.
Took them almost the entire season to address Amber Smurfing/OP specs/Stronghold farming etc. Forgive me for not believing a single word they say until they do it.
They specifically used weasel wording and if the dev didn’t say 5v1-1-1-1-1, most people would have missed it.
Letting us know that 1% of the games are 5v1-1-1-1-1 doesn’t mean too much because most people that complain about having to fight premades consider 5v1-1-1-2/5v1-1-3 or any variations of 1-4/1-1-1-1-1 etc a problem. They specifically avoided giving out any more numbers to pretend they’re listening to the solo q complaints when in fact they made a change that basically means nothing (1%).

The casting was good but it really highlighted how poor the spectator/observer options were for casters since the fights looked terrible and you couldn’t view all 3 points at the same time.
The trash in raids are just annoying. They drop 0 loot, time gated events which take up ~40% of the raid ughhh.
But I thought eles only took sin trinks for ferocious winds, accuracy kinda negates that?
I already use accuracy on guardian to max out crit chance, I believe the current meta hammer DH build utilizes it (the one vC? posted with their 6 man sabetha).
That’s under the old system where if you did ok you got no pip loss. Now you can be placed into totally futile games against full premades and lose pip for it regardless of what you do, if you find that enjoyable ok.
I think ANet thinks that by making solo unenjoyable, people will group up and run 5 man premades. Well most people instead opt for the other direction, which is not PvPing.

Unwinnable? I guess you didn’t read the part where solo-queuers had 50% win rate over full premades in season 1. My only complaint is removing the extra pips awarded for beating a 3, 4 or 5-man teams. There were so many newb guilds just queuing for lulz, getting extra pippage for beating them was pretty cool.
But the thing is we aren’t using the season 1 match making system anymore

If you want more people playing PvP, the answer is not to feed them as fodder to full premades.
If you have long queue times? Tough luck. Go find a team to scrim or something, there’s far more solo players than full 5 man teams and ANet should cater to the majority.

I was doing Minstrel III collection which needed to push gates of arah. So I tagged up, ping the waypoint and everything, pushed the entire chain with only 10 people, there wasn’t anyone else who came along lol (and no volunteer thingy popup).
Anecdotal and stuff but yeah
Nothing with happen with BD. BD has no PvE end game and GW2s PvP is basically ded anyway so not like they can steal much of the playerbase.
I think raid mechanics aren’t too bad but it feels really lazier than dungeons to me. In dungeons we’d used to have reflects, stability, stealth, vuln stacking, fury stacking and other things to pay attention to but nowadays all that is automatic or unused.
Sure the fight mechanics are alright but the profession mechanics … not really being fully utilized.

Famster sums it up nicely, pretty much feel the same way here. This week raided for ~1.5h, capped, got nothing to show for it and everyone’s done for the week.
Nothing else in game for them to do since fractals are boring/easy/annoying and open world is faceroll grind fest.
A lot of people played GW2 for instanced group content such as dungeons, pre HoT fractals and those got destroyed so there’s literally nothing else in GW2 for them to do.
