The people who got their undeserved titles and stuff need their accounts permanently banned. I mean if you guys just ban them temporarily from the season that just gives away the message that cheating is OK and the repercussions are minimal.
They did change CDN providers recently, but in this case…
HoT appears to be running on different servers, specifically Amazon’s EC2 cloud service. Using /ip on these maps returns their private local IP, whereas -maploadinfo shows the actual remote IP. It could just be a pass-through, but if they’re actually running HoT on Amazon’s servers, they’re likely testing its potential / cost.
This makes so much sense why there is suddenly insane lag spikes every time there’s a slightly big fight in WvW
I am seeing people stuck/run into walls then it all speeds up after a while and I’m either dead or just doing nothing with 4k ping spikes, literally unplayable.
Ironically chat is fine, every other thing is fine, TP is fine, just GW2 in WvW the skill bar starts blinking and nothing works which seems to me the servers aren’t able to handle the load. Really annoying.

To me it doesn’t seem that odd. Both teams have a fairly tight grouping of players, and the teams are only ~200 points apart.
You have to be crazy to think this is fair, Edison might be the 2nd best thief in NA and you think 2 guys with a 1510 rating have a fair shot.

It doesn’t need to be fair. The 1510 rated player probably lost around 7-8 pts that match. that match should be an anomaly for them.
there aren’t a lot of players at the extreme end of the spectrum to play against. If your rating is putting you near the top 250 players, you are going to be getting matches with and against them once and a while. twice last season I was on a team with the person that had god of pvp title and I was low gold. That is a much bigger issue IMO. I was almost 700 points lower than my teammates. I know the team we played against both times was rated pretty high because I got 18-19 pts for the win. They would have ended up losing a lot of points for that match since I was dragging the team average rating down.
The 1710 guy on team 2 probably lost like 13 or 14 though in a 0% chance to win game like that. Hardly fair.
It’s because so many people quit PvP and moved on to other games or focusing on purely PvE/WvW instead. You can’t have good matchmaking if there’s no one to match LUL

Just buy the PvP potions from “real PvPers”. This is really a non issue, I know plenty of people who did this. Do your PvE, make money, buy from PvPers e z.
I mean if getting the “prestige” of number 1 and the monetary gains which are above what 99% of players can make a month isn’t enough to entice you to tryhard then don’t?

More like it’s good the rewards aren’t there to be “farmed” so it allows more potential teams to compete in the monthly where the big $ is. It’s unlikely those teams will win but it’s more healthy to have a bunch of teams than to just have them never bother because they will get stomped in every single daily AT game by pros.
Daily ATs = casual
Monthly AT = where the pros tryhard
Getting 1st place or even 2nd in the monthly AT is amazing rewards already and far outweighs most PvE player income
This needed to happen eventually, it was great while it lasted and am I sad it’s gone? Yeah. I pretty much only did daily rooms except for S5 and like 20 games in S6 but I understand why ANet did it and I think they did the right thing even if I am not benefiting from it.

Now that so many are in full PvD mode, WvW is just a farm mode now. I enjoy seeing the new faces but any semblance of defense is seemingly gone. WvW is one dimensional now more than ever. Typically commanders avoid outright fights and often happily leave structures undefended for PPT flipping later.
Maybe others enjoy this style more than I but I would rather have fewer dedicated players than mobs just farming paper. Can there be something in between?
this is a direct result of gating rewards behind wvw rank. you get much more rank flipping structures then you do participating in wvw pvp.
It’s also a result of gating rewards by time. If I’m gonna get the same pipz/reward track by “AFKing” and playing legit, I’m gonna probably AFK if the fights aren’t fun. Seriously I played 10 hours last night to finish diamond/mithril and played half of that legit then I just realized why I am even bothering might as well just “AFK”.
Once the pugs figure out you might as well not follow the tag and just occasionally tag a guard once you have full participation up you’ll have 30+ afkers every map doing just that.
Took me 3 months to sell my Bifrost back when they were 4.4k each. That was the longest, the rest all sold under a week.
You can swap to focus offhand (air 4, earth 4 = absorb/reflect + earth 5 = invuln) and take some util skills (mist form, arcane shield, earth shield) to survive the panels and just swap back after for fights. Alternatively don’t do the last panels and volunteer for the 2nd button where you can just blink (lightning flash) up and let your allies in quickly.
Since you pug it’s gonna be like that, organized groups tend to just have people blink to buttons and aegis/invuln + stealth the last switch so people on the panels can just /gg early.
Sandstorm is also pretty decent for trash enemies due to blinds and also you can always let other people pull aggro/run in first so you can just do damage without taking as much risk.

Well game has been out almost 5 years. That’s under 1000 gems a month in char slots which seems pretty reasonable if you think about it.
Yah I have 70 characters and I sometimes want to make new ones but can’t because capped.
My secret to using guardian in full zerkers on all types of PvE content is getting gud.
You should try it too.
But dungeons can be solo’d in full zerk (or viper), celestial is just a crutch for bad play.
Same with fracs, those SC record solos are all done in zerk.
Self-sufficiency is about skill first and foremost, defensive gear stats just help pad any lack of skill.

Lol no this isn’t true at all. They changed epi to allow for counterplay in PvP/WvW. Condi thief got BUFFED while it was already the highest DPS spec in raids making it totally unbalanced.
At this point it should be obvious they just throw darts or w/e and see what sticks. There is no testing or anything.
The new sigils…I don’t know. They just feel kinda awful to use. In general, the top few classes feel more balanced, but, the game doesn’t feel fun, anymore. Your guys’ thoughts?
This game hasn’t felt “fun” for a while. I’ve been running the same build on my engineer literally since Heart of Thorns launched, and it’s seen nothing but nerfs for two years. I don’t know what Irenio’s deal is, because we never asked for gyros in the first place and he absolutely refuses to let us use elixirs or gadgets in any real capacity—you know, the things that are actually fun to use.
Today they even felt the need to nerf Protection Injection, a trait which ostensibly just managed to, I guess, fly under the radar for five years before needing this change in May 2017. It’s almost comical at this point. What changed that warranted this nerf?
There’s just absolutely nothing inspirational in these patch notes. They just constantly tackle the low hanging fruit like Healing Signet without properly addressing the deep issues that elite specializations put into the game: there’s just very little build variety, and this patch only stifled things further for multiple professions. I didn’t play nearly any games in season six, and I don’t see why that’ll change for season seven. I don’t care how good or bad it is: I’m just tired of playing the same kittening build every kittening season, and it’s sad they continue to nerf our meta build without helping us create any actual alternatives.
Same dude. I used to play scrapper/engi pretty heavily in PvP (like I was engi main when glory was still a thing…) but after 3 seasons of hammer and being a res bot or far troller I decided it was boring and moved to Necro/Ele/DH.
Idk what they’re doing, scrapper is already boring and most builds are bad on it so you’re left with either standard scrapper or base condi engi which is just cheesy and not really that great.
I guess without the guidance of pro league level Engis like Chaith ANet clearly has no idea how to balance anything in PvP for Engi. I’m not surprised to see them gut DH either, it wasn’t really OP but noobs that ran in and out of ToF were commonplace even in Gold so I guess ANet had to ‘balance’ DH around stupid tier play.
I played 600 games in S5. 20 in S6. Probably 0 in S7 this just isn’t fun anymore.

Bit of both, it’s skilled based in that a plat 3 player is likely to be way better than a gold 1 player but it is also grind based in that some guy can just grind games offpeak and get +1 to +5 MMR per win over a lot of wins.
I mean the top 25 you see aren’t bad players, they’re all pretty decent anyway but it’s hard to say that #4 is better than #25 (as an example). They’re all pretty close.
They said 150 insights to make the precursor into legendary armor. They never said how many insights to make additional sets of precursors and it could’ve been 10000 magnetite shards which is worse.
There is no bait and switch and if you got baited it means you can’t read.
The game wasnt made with PvP in mind but more for PvE and WvW

People were unimaginably underwhelmed considering you can literally waltz around in that PvE map and acquire ~54 berries in around 6 minutes with boosters on as opposed to the 50 berries you get in the reward track with sub par rewards and to top it all off – takes hours to complete.

Which for – the track or the farm? Sorry I haven’t actually done the track so idk if it’s 50 or not.
Track is 100 berries, makes it worthwhile as it converts to unbound magic and to currency for the trinkets. Personally I’ve used the reward tracks to gear something like 4-5 characters with the HoT trinkets I wanted. Sure, I could have gotten it much faster doing the PVE farm, but getting it free while I play what I have fun playing… can’t complain.
The doric track gives 100 too for some strange reason, better unbound magic value there if you’re looking for that specifically.
Not saying people don’t cheat/smurf but HALF of the top 25 paid for their spots? That’s pretty funny and false lol.

If bunkering was so OP every ESL team would run 5 bunker but obviously that never happens outside of the trololol d/d ele era.
Also what Loop said, there are plenty of DH counters. Even thief can counter DH by constantly +1-ing the DH and good power warriors can ruin DH too since the DPS > DH sustain even if they aren’t hard counters.
If you wanna complain about sitting on a point bunkering, longbow DH is not it lmao. Maybe you wanna complain about paladin symbolic DH or druid but not longbow DH. You’re literally complaining about traps doing too much damage then saying DH is bunking the node with a ‘real bunker build’ which just doesn’t happen sorry.
Go try and play the marauder meta medi trapper longbow see how long you last sitting on a node bunkering against anyone who has their dodge key binded.
If you sit on a point with your traps camping longbow when nobody is there then the other 2 points should be lost since it’s 5v4 while you afk there.
If people are too bad to take advantage of this, it isn’t a DH issue but a player issue.
As for traps, most metabuilds only run test of faith and maybe trap heal. ToF is fine if you realize it only hurts if you run in and out of it and the other traps are not worth mentioning (actually L2P issue if you die to blade of proc/dragon maw).
If you’re gonna complain about “OP”, symbolic DH is way worse than longbow DH tbh.

It makes no sense that 2 pro duos can fight each other and lets say they win 50/50 because they’re both really good duos they end up eventually BOTH losing rating because the other 6 players are low rated.

Got hit with a -39 one game last week having a keyboard turning thief and necro on my team. It was the reason I stopped trying, wins were like +7 if lucky and losses were painful. I was considering grinding 120 games for leaderboard in the last week but after that I realized I had better things to do so I just do 1 game every 4 days to keep the Plat badge for S6.
I got a few perma merchs binded myself, it’s unfortunate but I don’t think ANet will do anything about it.
They didn’t even do anything about the people who had multiple copper fed (gem store item) salvage kits.
Another reason why people might list these items for these prices is to boost their account value ranking on gw2efficiency.
Wanze pretty much listed the reason why this trident is almost 10k gold.
The majority of core GW2 builds don’t really live up to the levels of elite spec builds, that’s pretty much a fact. Outside of niche stuff like condi engi, necro, thief maybe burn guard there’s not much else which would be comparable to elite spec builds.
When you think of balance that way (core v elite), the balance is super poor. However, if you look at the class distribution, every class now has playable builds utilizing elite specs which sorta makes the balance ok there.
It all depends what you’re looking at and I think both of you are right in your own way.
It’d be nice to see more variety on various classes though, especially on classes like Ele & Rev.

Rating loss is insane, you can get like -30 or more for a bad RNG game but wins only get you like +5-7 if you’re lucky. Side effect of low pop matchmaking but idk how ANet can fix this short of restricting queues to +1/-1 sub divisions (eg. gold t3 / plat t1 / plat t2 in same game maximum and no other deviation) to wins/losses are around 12/13 rating.
I don’t see a point in keeping the div once you reach it not being able to drop, it’s far too easy to luck out and place in Plat when you don’t belong there the current system is fine if you don’t play/keep up the skill you don’t get to stay there.
It says when the season ends on the PvP panel, should be 120 games max for LB position.
How did Anet make it “worse.” Literally the only two changes between last season and this one is the removal of decay/volatility exploit, and the removal of placement sniping.
Are you saying that PvP was better off with those exploits?The real reason that s6 is lower pop is because the hype wore off. Kinda like how S1 was probably the highest participation season despite being a clown show with all the exploits and that whole bunker fiesta. Hype/newness is everything.
1) Completely gutting the rewards to mediocre levels
2) Death of ESL – lack of follow up regarding pro league
3) Same meta kitten, boring af no change at all – balance fail
4) Refusal to fix the matchmaking system that puts silver and plat players in the same game

Only engi and sc/wh ele has to put in effort for high DPS, every other class is pretty easy. Maybe necro too but that’s just because of broken combo fields.
You’ve got like condi warrior/condi thief that are almost if not just as good as ranger with just as easy rotations :/

You can still get all the way up to GWAMM in GW1 right now, but you have to work for it a fair bit. I did it last year – from scratch.
Like other people said, trades are kinda hard to get by but you can get most of the stuff just by playing yourself and trying to hit the right festivals for the rest. For example, halloween is great for finishing the 3 consumable titles (tonics, drinks, food).
Also, you won’t really have access to FA (since nobody plays it) so for canthan cartographer you will need to break out of the map a bit to finish the title.
For the Black Widow Spider I’m pretty sure it needs to be level 20 and then you go to the Hall of Monuments to dedicate it before it shows up as a point.
Yep played 8 games last nite just to see how it was and it was way worse than anything I’ve ever seen in ranked since 2013. It was basically a clown fiesta like unranked. I won 7 of them just fighting people 1v2 or 1v3 which would be impossible if they were remotely real PvPers and the one I lost had 2 keyboard turners running mid and feeding lol.
All this while ~1.7k rating and people rage whispered me saying they were low gold and I was ruining their games :/
