Winning and losing streaks are statistically expected. This is not a symptom of whatever you’d like it to be.

Long win streaks and lose streaks are most definitely a symptom of poor matchmaking.

I have yet to see a complaint about matchmaking that doesn’t boil down to “I’m not winning as often as I think I should, so clearly this is the game’s fault”.

I dont think losing that often or wining that often is the problem.
For me the problem is the huge skill diference between players in the same team.
Its not ok that 1 players wins 1vs2 and rest of team dies and cant capp anything.
Players wouldnt rage if all 10 players had a similar mmr, but thats not whats happening, u get 1 or 2 players that are really good and then u get players that double capp and insta die or +1 a 2v1 already leaving mid….. i mean really crazy stuff, and that is why players rage, too much skill diference , thats the real problem.

Yep this is the main complaint I’ve heard from everyone. The “I’m losing 8 games in a row” is a symptom of this getting vastly different skilled team mates such that teams are uncarryable.

Of course there are a few who complain about anything and everything but those are not the majority.

I only know of one thing requiring the Dominator event, and that is accessing the Mastery Point in the lava. I don’t know of any tokens being locked behind it, or anything else for that matter.

The mastery point requires Jade not Dominator and even that one you can just slightly cheese it by standing on the ledge.

The dominator kill gives you updrafts which you can take to get the tokens up higher (3-4 at least) as well as the tunnel which shoots you up to 2 more tokens and a POI.

I think it has something to do with PvP becoming a joke.

Old PvP: Required targets, skill and burst combos with point rotations.

Current PvP: drop some traps, throw some random AoE somewhere, get hit and proc a bunch of passives and bobs your uncle, you won the fight. Follow the other 3 players to the next point, rinse and repeat.

This. In the old days you had to coordinate the CC AND the AoE AND the damage to hurt people nowadays every freakin AoE has a CC built in and does damage

Oh and of course they want to make cap points smaller so that AoE has a 100% chance of landing on the point because aiming and coordinating skills is apparently too hard #feelsbadman

The majority of the people in unranked are there for the achievements and not for the “PvP experience”. They’re already kittened off having to do PvP so they’re just doubly salty and rage at people.

You can say yeah they shouldn’t be there but they are and they’re salty. Makes it worse the unranked matchmaker is trash and sometimes I see good players teamed with complete trash it just sucks for everybody involved.

Nothing should be designed to guarantee hits on points/nodes. If you can’t even aim your AoE it doesn’t deserve to hit anything period.

Running around the outskirts of the points to contest is an extremely valid strategy and heck at least it requires more skill than dumping all your stuff onto one node.

What you’re basically saying is there should be no downsides to blindly throwing AoE onto a point with people on it. What?

Foefire is too big but the new ones are kinda too small and favor DH far too much. Just because the fights take longer doesn’t mean the fight is any less interesting, being able to kite and having room to avoid big damage is interesting in itself whereas dumping all the traps/wells or w/e onto the point so people get off is hardly interesting.

What is the proper way to rotate?

Rotate is basically a mesh of common strats that you should do as a PvPer.

So basic things like:

1. Try to match numbers on nodes; don’t 4v2 because you’ll lose the other caps

2. Don’t hit on a bunker 1v1 if they own the node, if it’s theirs but you can kill him < 10s then sure

3. Don’t stream into a ‘zerg’ and keep dying, regroup and focus on what you have/can do

4. Let’s say you win the initial mid fight, you either watch for respawns to your home/mid or push far + watch respawns to match numbers. A lot of people just sit mid and lose everything in the process

5. If you’re losing the fight or you know it’s lost and you can peel, break off and decap a node that the enemy isn’t at if possible. If they try to zerg you then you break off again and help your team once they’ve respawned.

I’m sure there’s a better guide out there somewhere but these are some basic rotation strategies. I might’ve left stuff out though since I’m sleepy.

As for your questions:

- 1v1 on your own owned node? Yes. 1v1 vs them on their node, no unless you can wreck them fast. 1v1 on neutral? Sure.

- 1v2 bad guys they own the node? Still good. If you can occupy 2 ppl that lets your team do stuff 4v3

- Snowballing is kinda high level strat, I don’t feel like even half the people in legend can pull it off so I very rarely do this, I always play 2 point strat unless I have pro league player on my team that I know can carry.

- Unranked is a piece of….. ya know. Don’t expect much I can afk games and still win or rotate like mad and still lose.

AB chests are better than all the other maps since they guarantee 1 rare (the big one) sometimes give 2. Other maps don’t guarantee anything and can often roll worthless junk like Milling Stones and Barbed Thorns or w/e.

For comparisons sake, doing Tequatl or triple wurm is far less rewarding and the cooldown is longer and only able to grab giant chest once a day. Farming Geodes in Dry Tops is extremely slow and some of the events are actually hard (sandstorm giant 1shots, stupid frog knocking you off the little platform). Even Fractals are behind after the dailies are done.

As an ‘old player’ I can tell you ANet doesn’t balance their rewards very well in GW2. For a long time Dungeons were top tier gold (outside of TP/buy gold) and then came SW chest farm.

Nowadays between Fractal farms and node farms and SW chest farm they all outshine the reward for DS/TT/Dry Top/Teq easily on average and if you have recipes for dungeons then dungeons outshine them too.

A lot of people become “amazed” at how easy it is to make so much gold in GW2 but really it’s not that surprising, it’s just boring as hell like AB multi mapping is.

Even those who primarily play for rewards/items and lack time will not be doing VB/TD/DS. Actually, they’ll ESPECIALLY avoid those since the reward:time ratio is bad.

Fractal T4/node harvesting offer a far better return so if they’re truly so limited on time and want gold/items they’ll avoid metas entirely.

I mean it’s pretty obvious to anyone who plays the game that nerfing one meta doesn’t make another popular.

When they nerfed the original SW chest farm around Amber did people suddenly go do Dry Top instead? No.

When they nerfed frostgorge champ trains did the guys suddenly go do events in Straits/Malchor’s Leap? No.

When they nerfed queensdale champ train did people go do Wayfarer Foothills? No.

I can go on and on but it’s pretty obvious if you’ve actually played GW2 to know it won’t happen. Any AB nerf will just result in less people doing AB, nothing else.

Personally I don’t care if AB gets nerfed or not since it barely affects me but it’s kinda funny how poor arguments and justifications are thrown around by people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

You’re overlooking the fact that SW chest farm still exists.

Those who look for rewards might go to AB for now, if it gets nerfed they’ll go to SW.

Those who don’t care about rewards and do metas for fun, do whatever anyway.

VB/TD/DS isn’t even on the list for people who primarily look for rewards.

Thus it makes no logical sense that a nerf to AB will suddenly populate 3 metas which offer next to nothing when there’s a mountain of different things that are far more profitable than them.

The only 100% fact that can come from AB nerf is that less people will do AB.

Fused weapons

It’ll probably go up after the initial burst of tickets get burned up. I doubt most people have 4 tickets or more just lying around to trade for fused.

I wished it was cheaper than 4 tickets/400g but if I look at it objectively, I am getting 16 highly coveted skins for the price of 1.5 legendary weapons which isn’t too bad I guess.

I mean if you only have 30 minutes of play time just to do AB then you’re not gonna be able to do VB or DS anyway since those take longer so maaaaaybe sure they might do TD instead of AB if the rewards were even. Maybe.

I’m not even sure you read the whole post I made since I basically said that if we equalize the rewards people are more likely to do other metas but instead of nerfs to AB, there should be buffs to the other ones.

There’s a reason why people don’t bother with DS, it’s a long meta with trash rewards unless you need specific things (collections/achievements/HPs/Pets etc). Nerfing AB isn’t suddenly gonna make DS popular since it’s inferior in rewards even to TD or VB for example.

I guess reading is hard for people though so w/e.

I can’t speak for everyone but even if you nerf AB it isn’t gonna make me wanna do DS/TD/VB lol.

Back when I actually did HoT metas, I always did TD before AB, they never overlap so it just makes no sense how nerfing one will suddenly make the other more popular.

You should be arguing for TD/VB/DS buffs and not AB nerfs, that way there’s a guarantee people are more likely to do those metas.

Fractal Relic Sink Needed

The reliquary is a poor token sink, I have had it for almost a year and I still have more relics than ever despite never running fractals. The fact that you can buy the +5 agony for 25 relic then sell it back for 75 keeps it going for a long long time. Also there is not much worthwhile to buy from it.

Tbh they just need to up the APs rewarded, too many things post HoT gives like 1 or 1+1+1 (eg. destroyer wep collection), which is stupid considering the effort involved. I still haven’t bothered with some because they are all 1 AP.

Uncapping dailies does nothing but make the current APs feel even less worthwhile (why bother grind 1000 giants for 5 ap when you can login another day for 10 ap?) and won’t really solve the core issue which is the fact that AP is really hard to get nowadays (not the content; just the actual aquisition).

One of the benefits of the new system I’ve noticed, it helps 3rd place servers because there is no longer an incentive to PPT the 3rd guy to death. Instead, 1 & 2 need to ensure 3rd place gets 2 points for a higher lead over the other guy.

It doesn’t fix coverage holes or anything but at least this seems to be working.

The most profitable venture is to craft toxic consumables with bloodstone dust. They go for ~80s and give a decent profit on the blood stone dust you spend.

Not really. The price of Toxic spores has risen so high you’d have to farm them which takes its time.

Even buying out the toxic spores and T6 dust I still calculate 75s profit on 100 bloodstone dust so I have no idea what you’re talking about but by all means feel free to not do it, not like I care if you make money or not.

Pretty much everything on that list of yours has uses except for Pile of Auric Dust and Airship Oil.

Bloodstone dust = good profit with toxic consumables.

Dragonite ore = get the eaters = 300/day gone approx
Empyreal Fragments = get the eater = 150-300 gone per day

Lumps of Aurillium = AB keys for multi map or get the Ley Line thing to spend 25 / day. Alternatively it is an extremely good way to buy Obsidian Shards for less karma.

I mean if you spent the time making this whinge post instead on the wiki looking at the uses of bloodstone dust you’d have made gold off of the bloodstone dust instead of deleting it like a misinformed person would.

At the current prices, it’s approximately 80 silver profit for 100 bloodstone dust making Toxic Focusing Crystals.

WvW Fights Need to be Addressed

ANet removes a lot of things that they deem unsuitable for sPvP such as Clerics Amulet which is in no way OP in WvW for example.

It’s not as simple as ‘removing amulets’, in fact it is bad practice to do so since it just hides what is really wrong with the game – poor class balance.

The problem is, the PvP devs only have so much power so they do what they can. WvW is tied to PvE gear so removing stats is not going to be a good idea, they should instead focus on fixing class balance.

I generally don’t mind fighting premades, last season it was fine if I fight premade most of the time only rarely lose due to players who actually have a strategy in their premade.

This season however the matchmaking is so trash it gives you randomly bad players so it is a massive disadvantage to fight premades, even mediocre ones. I am lucky I barely had to fight any when I was climbing as a solo q.

The only thing I worry with an MMR only system is I play during OCX which doesn’t have many high MMR players (if any players at all). It would be nigh impossible for me to gain MMR as a solo q player vsing random non pro league players night after night.

I mean, my q times in sapphire were 12 minutes average. Legend q’s don’t pop so rip if I need MMR to get legend.

I only got legend this season because I played most of my matches in NA prime.

Practice Raid mode

Training mode wouldn’t really work – you can just look at Unbound Guardian in Bloodstone Fen for an example.

People there don’t really go to greens, don’t dodge blues, don’t care about seekers and half the time don’t break the bar. When the mechanics are ignorable (as would be the case here in a dumbed down training mode), they will get ignored.

It’ll be a waste of resources making a training mode as is suggested in the OP.

You talk a lot about how the meta constricts playstyles and whatnot but my first VG clear, like many others, was done in a random assortment of exotics/ascended with weird stats like rampagers for the condi classes. Most of us did not have top tier meta builds because there was no meta back then.

We still did it despite that difficulty with our random builds and weird non chrono tank (we used an ele, a DH and a scrapper tank) for our first couple of VG kills.

It is my firm belief that people like you who complain about the meta are just using this as an excuse to not raid. Just like in PvE, PvP has a certain meta with meta builds but I too do not run the builds on metabattle.com. Still got legend just fine all 4 seasons.

Basically it all comes down to attitude. Most of you do not have that attitude to raid and easy mode raids won’t fix that.

Unless you play GW2 24/7 you’re always gonna be ‘left out’ of something. You aren’t meant to 100% the game, it’s pretty much impossible even for players who have played since launch.

The titles are fine as is, time limited or w/e it’s pretty much the only thing to show off for PvP outside of those Challenger of the Arena or w/e titles.

That’s not gonna happen. People do AB for the loot, they don’t do it because they enjoy HoT metas. If AB gets nerfed they’ll just move onto the next most profitable thing which is probably SW right now or even Bloodstone Fen.

As long the AB meta pulls people from other areas of the game, it’s a problem that needs addressing in my opinion.

Many things pull people from other areas of the game, not sure why you think this is a problem. Every time a new chapter of LS comes out people rush to it, it pulls people from the game to a specific area so it’s bad?

You have to understand, the people that specifically grind AB won’t suddenly go do VB if it’s nerfed just like people that login just for LS3 won’t suddenly go do VB when LS is unavailable. They MIGHT do it but it’s overly optimistic to expect even half of them to do such a thing.

Can’t really take you seriously when the basic mechanics aren’t understood by you guys.

There’s a lot of engi gyro complaints but I don’t see why tbh, it’s not at all strong when there is so much cleave (eg. DH) and the old S&R 1200 range was farrr stronger than anything engi has to offer currently. I’ve played both engy and DH and can say that the res power of a DH is far stronger than engy gyro.

Really the only servers who seem to want to be t1 and enjoy it’s blob play style is BG TC JQ, and really after spending so much time up there by themselves building for that style of blob play it’s to be expected for other servers to falter after a while, YB and DB. Can JQ rebuild their NA to stay up there? they’re open again, or will Mag push up there by default when DB drops.

NA prime in T1 is blobby as hell but OCX/SEA actually isn’t that blobby and is the only tier where there is consistent action. If you’re looking for GvGs in OCX for example, T1 is the only place where you can do it (eN/LATE/TF/KnM etc).

If you want blob fights in SEA? T1 is the only place for it. Every other tier is PvDoor and that’s boring. There is a reason most OCX/SEA players transfer UP not down and it isn’t to PvDoor or win the PPT. It’s for people to play with/against.

What NA prime people fail to understand is, there is extremely low population of OCX/SEA players nowadays such that even to congregate on 3 servers there’d be maybe 1 map queue on each, or 2 if lucky. This is evident in all game modes, there aren’t enough of us to go around unlike NA. We don’t have that luxury to move to different tiers.

So sure you can cheer for DB’s collapse and look at it as lol wagonbrand kek but in the end all this NA bandwagoning is hurting OCX/SEA players on JQ/DB who just want to play the game really.

Also now with the linking business going on there’s no more stability of T1 so if you get a bad roll week then that’s basically no action the entire week (eg. JQ capped 10 keeps in SEA on a Saturday night). But yeah yeah PPT PPT PPT scoring changes blah blah is all NA ever cares about.

Safe stomps actually require you to use your utilities/brain and S&R/Stealth Gyro or stealth in general can counterplay ‘safe stomps’ (or even having ya know 2 allies res together). It’s far more exciting to be able to pull off a clutch res/stomp than it is to watch/play a boring linear game style where things are fixed.

Ressing/stomping isn’t even bad right now, there are more important things to worry about than res/stomps such as matchmaking balance and other things.

Already finished those achievements years ago and even then people nowadays do the reward tracks since it’s faster/easier than to grind the actual dungeons to finish those achievements.

Also the content is old and boring after having done it for years on end.

Queue Times

I was getting 12 minute queues in sapphire playing duo with my friend last night. Basically if you play outside of NA prime you’re R.I.P regardless of division.

Not really surprised since this matchmaking is utter trash.

Different Raid Difficulty Would Satisfy Most

Timer is pretty much never the reason anyone fails. Ask any person who has raided regularly (~20+ insights) and they can tell you every group that fails is due to mechanics or bad play and not enrage timer.

Most of the time when I do my kills someone will ask how much we had left on timer and nobody would know because nobody cares about that. I’ve killed Matthias well into enrage with half the raid group dead, big whoop it’s not a 100% wipe mechanic like some other games.

Also I’m pretty sure you can run whatever build you want and still manage to clear raids if you’re good enough. Low man clears, no elite spec clears, masterwork gear clears, 1 hour matthias kill etc have all been done.

I’m fairly certain the PvP devs don’t actually play their own game.

They do but it’s always in premades (at least duos) as far as I’ve seen.

If they actually solo q’d they’d realize how bad S4 is and how frustrating it is carrying a bunch of people who don’t deserve anything above ~Sapphire.
