In World of Warcraft (Legion) you have 4 types of raid difficulties:
1. Looking for Raid: the easiest mode, available to all casuals. You don’t need to know bosses tactics.
2. Normal: a bit harder, still availible to random groups, you need to know bosses tactics.
3. Heroic: you need an organized group to be able to do it. Only a small percentage of players are able to do it.
4. Mythic: Hardcore only: 1% – 3% of playerbase are able to do it. Expect a lot of wiping.
Of course you get better rewards, harder the content is.If we could get just two different types of Raids in GW2 that would be awesome: one for casuals and another one for more experienced/skilled players.
That will never work. Raids are not the focus of this game and frankly instanced content in GW2 has never been a main driving force imo, hence why dungeons got little to no updates in the past (with its team being disbanded) such as fractals who only got development in recent times.
Your tiers of difficulty in GW2 are already there in game: it is called dungeons, fractals and raids which cover 1, 2 and 3. And from I have little experienced and have seen raids in GW2 could still be a number 2.
What is the point of having all these portals if we can glide ?
Can only glide to platforms that are very close to each other or are lower than the one you’re coming from.
Hmm I see. So I guess these portals will replace jumping mushrooms then.
Or they’re a part of something else. I’m trying not to read too much into it until I see it in person.
Yeah I agree with you but speculations are fun to make now that we are hyped for next week.

I really, really hope this means we will be able to play as Risen in the xpac, Ive been wanting this for years now, it’s exciting to think it could be a possibility.
I wouldn’t suggest getting to excited about that. My own opinion is that it is highly unlikely. I think they are teasing playing alongside NPC risen allies, not a PC. Woodenpotatoes has laid out some really good speculative arguments why a new playable race is probably NOT in the works, many of which would still apply to Risen/Undead/Mordrem.
To late I am excited :P I actually think they really need to give us a new playable race for this 2nd xpac, people were disappointed that we didn’t get one with the first xpac, so I’m hoping they are going to address that this time.
Also a new race would mean they sell a lot of character slots, plus the fact we are 5 years deep into this game, there are plenty of good reasons why we should have a new race imo.
Yeah new race won’t happen. However in recent LS our characters were turned into mursaats, jormag minion and white mantle. So we could transform into an undead in order to form an alliance with them. We also might be able to purchase a tonic with karma.

The problem with “hype” is most people start reading what other players are posting and getting caught up in what others are talking about without reading what the Devs posted. And in then they start getting conflicting or wrong information that they take to be true. And then they get upset that it’s not like what other players said or what they imagined what was said in between the lines of what the Devs said.
I was not disappointed in HoT. I read what the Devs said. I understood what they wrote PLUS I also understood that things may change anyway since “nothing survives first contact”
Actually, the problem with HoT is that it didn’t contain the amount of content people expect for an expansion from playing other MMOs. The fact that it took three years to come out AND was full priced AND was over-hyped by Anet just made the problem worse. I don’t think you can really put that on players.
And that is exactly why they said, as they promoted HoT, “it is a feature expansion pack” not a content full expansion pack. And I don’t think they worked on it for three years since they had no time to deliver content between the announcement of the expac and the release date.
Maybe for season 4
hmmm maybe they should make Braham turn into an antagonist ? He could fail his attempt to kill Jormag and become corrupted.
This fractal trailer kinda reminded me of Omadd’s machine
Path of faith ?
So here’s what I’m guessing makes somewhat sense of the image. I feel that it may actually take over the area between Blootide Coast/Sparkfly Fen and Timberline Falls. It’s roughly the size of Doric and that would actually be a good spot to fill in. Though it could be further into Orr, here’s where I doubt that’s the case. I’m pretty sure Orr is where we’re headed in the new expansion. According to Taimi the Elder dragons were returned to their pre awakened state. Which may mean we’re getting another Orr Dragon, it may be having Aurene take up that spot and the power vacuum left with the death of Zhaitan or possibly a reborn Zhaitan/a Zhaitan’s offspring. Maybe a hidden dragon that is found beneath the area. There is a lot of Orr mobs in lower BC and Upper right corner of SF. I’m guessing that whoever seizes the power of the area will control the Orr. And with the human god’s home being right there it would actually make sense to be rushing in to prevent them from exploiting the leaderless Orr in the area.
I think the next expansion is headed south below Orr. I’m guessing the human god’s are building up in the area to push north and take over Tyria.
I will probably be wrong, but I think it would be a good shift into the human god’s being the next big bad that needs to be handled.
I don’t think you are right. The location you describe has no water and we see a ship in the small teaser of Anet.
Hmmm my first guess would be: we are ont the middle of July and people take vacations/summer job which results in an even worse matchups than before due to population being lower than normally. Did you play off-peak hours as well ? Other than that how can you be sure that the guy wasn’t just trolling you ?
All it really needs is for the HoT powercreep to be toned down way more. Its fine if core specs are a bit worse than elite specs, but as it stands, elite specs are still way too good for the most part. That and much more frequent balance patches. Its boring to play the same build on your class for month after month because there’s no balance patch trying to change the meta.
Current problem is that they will nerf HoT specs….then release the next Xpac ones to completely overshadow both the core and HoT specs to make sales :/
Who said that they would nerf HoT spec to make next elite spec OP ?
Ok enough jokes^^
Here is a serious suggestion:
GW2: Vengeful Ashes of VabbiSounds a bit long. Vengeful Ashes, maybe?
Or, GW2: Heart of Desolation
#nothejokeswontstop
Vengeful ashes ? Yeah, sure. At least it doesn’t reveal too much of where we might be heading to.

GW2: Vengeful Ashes of Vabbi
Desperate decoy feels so outdated and even back in the beginning of gw2, I have never found any reason whatsoever to run it whether in PvP or PvE. I would rather have it replaced or if the devs want it to stay (who knows if it could offer some good synergy with the next espec), at least change its mechanic to be an actvive like that: F2 grants invisibility. The duration of invisibility is based on the number of illusion that were shattered (40 seconds cooldown). Other than that, it would be better imo to design a trait that supports mantras. First of all, make mantras three charges baseline. I also feel like we are not rewarded enough for gaining chaos armor in general, so here is my suggestion: when you gain chaos armor (this effect does not apply with staff 4), your equipped mantras are recharged. This effect is only applied to mantras which have consumed all their charges in the first place. 35 seconds cooldown.
Agreed, in that it needs some kind of buff/rework but i really couldn’t think about anything to fit in good, so i just sticked to the QoL-Change.
Hmm to me, this QoL-change will never be enough. I find the purpose of desperate decoy counter intuitive to the mechanics of the game overall. Sometimes whether in PvE, PvP or WvW going down might be necessary and when all class can rez any other class, I don’t really understand why adding another fishnet of security is really important. Other than that you want to keep attacking a target even if you go down to 50%. It is just disruptive but I guess that overall it is better that at the beginning of the game when the effect would trigger at 20% health.

No to delayed LS updates to bring easy mode raids. There is no point in having more easy instanced content that will bring another source of lackluster rewards. For that I can already do T1 fractals, dungeons, world bosses and meta events. What is the point in grouping with other people to gain rewards equal to what the game already provides in any other sources on content ? Personally, if I ever want easy mode raids I will just participate in the easy raid wing encounters. Can we close this thread now ? ^^
Hmm I am kinda nostalgic of deep wound. Could it be introduced in Gw2 ? If you could only apply it through an elite skill, I kinda feel like it would work. Other than that OP, I hope your ideas will never be implemened in the game because it feels pretty terrible.
Yeah, I agree. I’m confident that ATs as they are currently will fail. There’s simply no incentive to form teams not only because of rewards, but because they are facing people way above their current skill level. I really think you need different levels of tournaments to make them work.
And how exactly do you create different tiers of competition with low PvP population ? It is already happening in ranked and even with a given rating you still get lopsided matches. Anyway even if you create that, the same thing will happen: manipulation of games with smurf accounts 2.0 (in NA especially). At some point you are gonna need to accept that gw2 PvP will never ever reach the potential of a true PvP focused game. You also make it sound that no team whatsoever will ever improve (if anything unranked should get 5v5 only separate queue). How do you expect them to improve if they are stuck facing the same team of their tiers ? And how do you account for the level of a PvP team reaching another tiers if there is so much disparity between tiers in the first place ? You really believe that all “pro team” up there will spend their entire day playing every single tournament of the day if you basically only need to to only win two tournaments to qualify for the monthlies ? Make daily rewards more appealing and more people will join. That is pretty much it.
Chapter 6 confirmed
Expansion 2 confirmed
PvP and WvW overhaul
New raid confirmed
(Silence from fractal team, as usual)Where exactly is anet not alive?
When did they say a new raid was coming ?
Gw2: Sands of (S)vabbi…r

Inb4 players will then complain that mounts are bad because they wanted to participate in an dynamic event and they couldn’t because traversing the maps with mounts only took them too much time.
I wonder how people have been able to outsustain thieves all this time around then because shatter invisible power mesmer is just a subpar imitation of what thieves can do on a more regular basis.
You know what would be cool to have in the PvP lobby ? An NPC who talks about the different meta builds and who who gives a clear descriptive statement of the different counters to any build for a general purpose.
I would say it is counterproductive to promote race advantages in a game where race change doesn’t exist. And to be fair, these so called race advantages already happened in some raid encounters. The game really doesn’t need more of that. Imagine how toxic pugging will become. It is already toxic enough in some cases, there is really no need to add more of that. Edit: in terms of immersive story line, profession based interactions like Lake Doric update or wing 4 should happen however imo.
(edited by flog.3485)
How about that: step 1, useless sigils and runes become salvageable for luck. Step 2, the devs create another sink for luck
Sure Dh is such an OP class that every top players pick /s Don’t mindlessly spam your skills, take notice of the skills a Dh uses and you will see it is not an OP class. It was obviously OP as hell before with daze on traps but they already have had a series of nerfs, it is fine now.
whatssss qp ?
qualifying points
I think you are talking about the chammpion’s rest. Yes it is a VIP arena for winning the monthly automated tournaments if I recall correctly.
What is so different between fractals and dungeons anyway ? I will tell you one difference: dungeons are a boring instanced content to run because you can abuse the different mechanics of how they were designed to completely trivialize the content. I had to go back in ascalon catacombs for a legendary and frankly it felt painful to run. Though I will say this: in order to gain enough tokens, I was able to run story mode of other dungeons and I actually had more fun runinng the story modes than the three paths of Ascalon.
Well Sir to answer these questions:
1) Post will LI will always be present. You can;t change what people want to do, its their own time and that is that. What will go away will be the posts by other players (that want to learn the raid but can;t because of elitism and LI ping bla bla). Now they have the chance to learn the mechanic, git gud and once that is done join groups or start ur own whatever and do the kitten raid.
2) That is the problem that is causing all these posts with I can;t raid. It’s a circle that comes back to the same issue: no experience, you can’t do the raid, no one will take you, boss is too difficult for training purposes and for players that don;t know the mechanic. Since you can;t learn the mechanic other way – except by doing the actual raid – we have a big problems And that Sir is ur circle of never ending issues.
Just make a system that is better for players and that is helping the player base and pushing it to raid. Don’t let raids end up like dungeons. Lack of interest is a big – big issue. If players end up doing more AB or DS versus a raid, y’all that is a problem. That means that content is not reachable except for a minority, and the game is for all players.
How is this a problem ? The game was never founded on the basis that people would be required to raid and doing a successful DS or AB requires more people than doing an instanced content with ten people. At the end of the day, it is pure choice. If you have the time to commit, the willingness to learn, do it and join the different training runs that people advertise and that you can advertise. If you can’t be glad that you can already change your stats with a mystic forge recipe. Other than that, I think it would be bad for the game to dedicate more resources into raiding that what the devs already have if the identity relies much more on casual metas and dynamic events that require more than ten people.
There is nothing wrong in being versatile as long as the versatility of eles doesn’t make them godmode like it was before with cele amulets.
You want to lower the requirements of ascended on a game mode for which tiers of gear are unnecessary to play ? Are you serious ?
I dont want anything lowered, I think it’s fine the way it is but when you’re trying to go up in rank & 3 out of 5 players don’t give a flying hoot – what would you suggest? I’ve suggested taking ascended out of pvp & there was alot of hate for that too
Offering these rewards in unranked is lowering the requirements of having to gain ranks to get rewards, it is like saying “oh you can get legendary armor by playing an easy mode” and frankly I don’t see how people will be more motivated to win in unranked….other than that it also is pretty unfair because in unranked, players can put up a full 5 man party against pure randoms. You can twist it all around but that doesn’t change the fact that you are asking to get top tier rewards in an easy way for a game mode that doesn’t require tiers of gear in the first place.
You want to lower the requirements of ascended on a game mode for which tiers of gear are unnecessary to play ? Are you serious ?
I don’t particularly have 5 maps to be called "worst maps ever" but if I had to choose one, I would say ember bay. I don’t criticize the design of the maps in general, it has been always been outstanding imo, even in the original guild wars, but ember bay has just no interesting things going on in terms of event and these events feel shallow to me. I can’t bring myself to say "I am gonna spend some time in ember bay to do some events". Southsun cove is a close follower I would say.
Honestly, the last I did swamp I had a different experience. I assumed everyone in my group would use the “ready check”. And yet, everyone had already reached the trees while I was waiting at my position for the “r” to be appearing in group chat. So imo, it would be better to ask your team members how you are going to proceed at the beginning of the fractal. I was in tier 1 in EU…….
As above, you don’t need to do a single champ HP to max our your hero points for core + elite.
The champ ones are for those who want that extra challenge in the open world and it is fair for that to exist, whilst not impinging on others who want to be able do things on their own. The number of hero points allows for balance between the two types of players.
If the time ever comes that HoT is abandoned (which isn’t now), then perhaps they could readjust the champ HP’s, but as it stands, I am unconvinced of any need for it.
How many people are regularly doing the HC champs at times when no one is asking for help? There may be some, but I rarely see anyone doing them now that HoT is in the second half of its second year. The rewards for those events are lower than what comes from doing any of the events the zone offers. If GW2 has taught us anything, it should be that rewards drive the vast majority of players, not challenge.
If the “challenge” is the point, then having champ events on the map unconnected to HC’s would serve that purpose. There are champion events not tied to HC’s all over core. How many of those get done regularly if at all? Once, you could find champ trains in zones. Those weren’t being done for challenge, they were done for loot. Now, just doing regular events in HoT or in S3 zones is a lot more rewarding than champ trains used to be. So, champ trains are rarer these days, it they happen much at all.
The fact is that the HC’s are part of map completion. Map completion ought to be solo play for the vast majority of players. Dwayna knows there’s very little that’s rewarding in this game for solo play as it is, and there’s tons of rewarding content for groups.
I would disagree with that. Map completion is tied to rewards such as legendary items and other collections and these sort of rewards shouldn’t be instant gratification that are too easy because rewards as instant gratifications are already covered with easy metas/WB to do with people. If things are too easy to get, then players get them as fast as possible and then complain that the game has no rewards to go for (such as core tyria for example). And how hard are these HP anyway ? I mean we are talking about some HPs that are in 4 maps only. Players also form HP trains, others you can duo/trio them for most part. The only thing that is required in terms of low-manning is to take a cold hard look at traits, weapons and armor and choose the most relevant weapons, traits and armor that will easily counter the mechanics of a particular boss. Is it so unreasonable to do that when you can to that by simply going ooc? When the zone was designed to have more challenge that core tyria ?
I don’t think it is a good idea for the them to ignore HoT once the new expansion is out. Hot and the new expac will come out as a package for new players. The best they can come out with, is have rewards and/or content that makes players go back to HoT zones imo. If the zephyrites came back into the scene, then they would obviously would want to see the dragon they protected, so that means we would go to tarir.
Oh, and they should make old maps still relevant with updated stuff, instead of splitting comunity into 3 different content, Base/HoT/NewExpac
But this will requiere everyone else to get the newExpac
This just explain an even deeper problem
GW2 got released and it was something revolutionary, but they then decided to go back to old generic standard MMO design, dungeon behind an UI screen, raids behind an UI screen, new expac in new zone etc..
They should have went the subscription route with free xpac so no matter what everyone will get the same content, and they can release new stuff in old maps no matter what
You can’t mix revolution with old standard
If they went subscription based game, players would have left the game en masse. Why saying that they went backward in design when they created dungeons behind an UI screen ? Dungeons were released with the game as the original revolutionary design that you claim.
Or the game would be like it is now, just without raids. I prefer the version with them.
Possibly. But then, i’s equally possible that the same would apply to the game with easy mode. And i would prefer the version with it.
I already said and I think most of the raiders agree: An easy mode without rewards besides whites, greens and rares is ok if the development would be done by the LS team assisted by one member of the raid team to prevent problems etc.
I would rather see the LS team just working on LS content with a new map.
I too miss current events, crossing my fingers very hard right now.
Tldr: Kill the mobs before and nothing will harass you while nod farming.
I agree with Fallesafe. There should atleast be some merit in doing challenge modes in raids. The rewards system has always been pretty crappy. Most of the time you get no more than an exotic armor piece worth no more than 30 silver.
As for flog’s statement that the game has been running under the same motto for years…that’s plain not true. The game has strayed far from what it used to be, what it once promised and what it once stood for.
Raids were always meant to be high end content for people who wanted challenging content. So it stands to reason since it is “harder” than regular content it should be rewarded differently which it isn’t.
And instead of sticking to their original thought they implemented easier raid content to make raids more accessible to beginners only succeeding in loosing their regular raid player base. They implemented the raids simply for people interested in more challenging content.
Furthermore, the original guildwars didn’t operate under this conclusion either. Every elite area offered the chance of high end equippment even more so if you did them in hardmode. So please get your facts straight before making such a statement.
What are you on about ? The ascended zerker gear that I crafted for my mesmer have the same stats as the legendary zerker gear that players will obtain in raids. The armor that I obtained in Guild Wars by completing the story in nightfall has the same stats as the fow armor that you could get by completing the fow multiple times.
That is the problem though, if you make the game having to reach high tier difficult content to get best armor stats, then it stops being casual. Personally I never played the game with the intent of getting the best of the best, I play to chill in a giant playground with an amazing combat system. But in order to make the transition for more difficult content with raids and high tier fractals for players willing to do so, these things need to be available in the open-world since most of the game was build in offering a large open world experience. Other than that, the game was build around the idea of skill in PvP and WvW and skins to chase. In the end, maybe you just don’t fall directly into the target audience that the game is catering to and your proposal at the end of your feedback seems really impossible to implement for a game that has been running under the same motto for the last five years. Heck, it is more than that, it is up to Anet franchise as a whole since the original Guild Wars operated under the same system of not offering higher tiers of gear in higher difficult content.
I want to be able to obtain legendary WvW backpack while doing open world PvE content. I can not accept that Anet forces me to do content that I am not familiar with and thus that I will not enjoy /s
I was looking through some of my old videos and I came across a video I made of the original Flamekissed Light Armor set that was in the gemstore way back. They removed that set from the game, but it, imo, looks like it could have been an awesome legendary armor set. Even if they just added special effects to the tier 3 cultural sets we have now, i think that would have been better than this set that we got.
This set looks like light armor. It’s sexy, and it flows and isn’t stiff. And it has cool effects.
Lol if they had done that, they would have been called out for laziness of not wanting to create a new armor.
Isn’t it a middle ground when you provide easy open world content for more casual play while at the same providing more “difficult/hardcore” content with raids ? I feel like they reached this middle ground only with HoT release, whereas before it was way too much tuned to easy/casual.
Let’s put it this way once and for all: the emphasis on sylvaries is intented as well as logical and directly follow the lore set up of Guild Wars because it ended with the birth of the Sylvari race. Now let’s take a look at the real culprit of all of this: was the story telling of how Sylvaries evolved throughout these 250 years as good as the storytelling of Guild Wars in general ? No, certainly not.
