No, RNG is horrible and always will be, at least until some more light is shed on why some people can consistently get horrible drops while others very very consistently get amazing drops with little effort. If it was spread evenly where some people got good occasionally, some got bad occasionally, but overall they had success, then you could say RNG was working as intended. But when people repeatedly, and consistently get horrible luck with drops, and it’s always the same people, something is amiss. I know so far I’ve opened about 500 of the open world chests and about 50 of the gem store ones and have nothing to show for it other than consumables. No tickets, no minis. Yet a friend of mine, who is notorious for his good luck, opens 150 open world ones and gets the mini and 2 tickets, opens 50 gem store ones and get 4 tickets. This is the norm for him. This happens every RNG event. And the bad drop rate is the norm for me too. RNG has and always will be a bad system.
I can’t really say that if I ever seen the same people over and over being unlucky. Me, im one of those mix results kind; dragon bash very unlucky, southsun superbly lucky. That said, i think its a poor mechanisms that prevents us from getting our goals (yes a goal we set for ourselves be it skins or stats) simply because of luck/chance.
I’m all for it to be a gem store skin. No RNGs please, i’d do almost anything….anything to go around RNGs.
they’ll be probably obtained by a dungeon merchant using tokens from the new upcoming dungeon.
You know, i really dont mind that at all. run dungeon a few times, enough tokens, get skin,,, thats infinitely better than opening a BAZILLION boxes, which u get either by mindles grind upon grind or pay an obscene amount of money for, or BOTH… all to be foiled because ur just…unlucky?
Story sharing time! :P
Ok seriously though, gratz to the op and all ppls lucky to get their stuffs thru RNG. It feels good and quite grankly it even feels like this time the mechanics are done just right. I get the feeling because for the southsun weapom ticket, my story was that I logged in, run southsun with the 200% MF, and in less than 5 minutes got a crate.. ONE crate, opened it and guess what? Weapon ticket! That was fun and everything seemed right!
But dragon bash? I got hordes of those coffers! HORDES! Got on a MF banner, and started opening them by the HUNDREDS (yes i know pl opened thousands, but this is only one of my SEVERAL coffer opening sessions). Did that sevral times and the most significant thing I got out of it is 3 minis. So i tried the rich coffers. A few of them to boot, just for starters. Guess what? BARELY that much of an improvement over regular coffers, no minis and NO WEAPON TICKET.
So yeah, RNG… having had both sides of the coin experienced per se, I’d say this: Allow option for people to TOTALLY avoid RNG. Stop trying this casino crap. I’m seriously getting bored of it. I’m not asking to abolish it completely (though id be happy if they do but thats not likely is it??) but enough of an opt out for ppl that dont want to bother to keep trying to be lucky.
I’m all for it to be a gem store skin. No RNGs please, i’d do almost anything….anything to go around RNGs.
Dare I ask if anyone feels this month’s content’s achievements a bit more…grindy? Pinatas, fireworks, holograms and Zhaitaffys all number in the hundreds to finish and theres several of them! I kind of liked the amount of stuff we did for the Southsun event, where the sample gathering amounted to the most at 11 samples. Yes id ask for more content, just like many other ppl, but i really dont think that instead of “collect 10 of X”, we need to “collect 200 of X” as what we meant by more content. I know, i know, some will say a number of these things are easily obtainable, etc and tht we have a month, but im really short on time this month (started working again, animation is lots of work) so not many days i can really sit and focus on completing these.
I wasnt as keen on the weapon skins this time round, theyre pretty but not really my style mostly, so i feel less annoyed at seeing yet another RNG gate to skins. Yes the coffers drop easily enough, but thats not the issue here is it? is what u get from the coffers tht will be debated, or rather how often can it be obtained from such coffers Quite frankly, enough with arbitrary RNG, give it like SAB where there is option between RNG or working slowly, but surely for it. If i have to see a split choice in the matter its between slow but certain progress and plain lucky RNG, rather than argue on stuff regarding free rng vs gemshop rng kind of thing.
I’m getting the issues with fireworks, pinatas, and holograms as the OP mentioned, so i concur with those.
Moa race gambling, i just think 50s is asking quite a lot. Probably id complain less on this if im a CoF1-a-holic, running that a bazillion times a day, but gosh im so bored of that dungeon :P anyhow, its a big NO for me the way things are for this, so im choosing to stay away from it.
I actually like dragon ball, which says a lot coz i typically stay away from sPvP. I heard of some bug isssues, but havent really seen so i wont comment on the matter. the one thing i will say is that having played it a few times, it seems i get dc-ed quite often there, especially when trying to use multiple skills quickly. (posted that in the tech forums). One reason i enjoy it is the simple equality of it. (no thief stealth…wooot! ) I do wish such things (like the toypocalypse for wintersday as well) we can go in with our own specific teams rather than randomly assigned group of ppl.
I am happy sitting here, reading this stuff and weighing things in, but I have to say I just can’t agree to saying “skins are not content”. This is a game. its meant for enjoyment, so its contents are meant to give enjoyment. I like dressing up my toons nicely, creating themes and unique looks etc, that is part of my enjoyment of this game, and thus skin is content. As long as there are people that enjoy a certain aspect of the game, it is content.
On final note: I dislike RNG. will always say this even if i get rng lucky. also, SAB model for getting skins is best!
@sidestream: i think some people are for the massive bulks in males (norn and Hulk :P ) and thus would like comparable bulk for females so as to make them look like there is similiarity in species or such. Some posts previously mentioned along this line if i recall. Among other things, its to distinguish them from humans or so some said, they’d rather not have norns as simpler large humans. ( i dont mind having large humans, so to speak, if you look at the kind of build u get for human females!)
Personally I’m not into bulky. Full stop. Male or Female. Its one of the reason I am less inclined for male norns. I’d always opt for more options, but if i had to choose, id always advocate for leaner aesthetics.
I play both norn and asura, and yea asuras… we feell preetttyyy small.. but we fit nicely in snug little JPs.
That said, i thought u meant in comparison to other norns. I made my norn NOT at max slider for size. I think she stand about as tall as Eir. and yet almost every other player norn i meet is taller than my norn. Does everyone create max size norns? :p
Yea, just noticing this. I keep away from moa racing because gambling that much money isnt my thing, but Dragon ball, it disconnects almost every time. probably when i spam several skills. but since when has that been an issue?
Thanks. already haf precursor mind u, so just a matter of time and mats
NONE of the female face options show any real age difference or have wrinkles. That’s just ridiculous imo.
And scars should most definitely be a separate category and not just be available for one face. For all races and genders.
Maybe they’re trying to reinforce the fact that like Eir, older norn women still look young! I mean, Eir is sposedly not that young, Rytlock called her an old woman, so yea… old but still looking like that? Dang
Seriously though, YES to more options. Please. I will so buy another Total Make over kit and customize my norn warriorress again if they do! And yes, scars should be seperate and have variations too!
WOOOT~! YOU GOT IT!!! (and without having to kill me at that! :P ) Gratz So the story has a happy ending at last! You’ve inspired me to work hard to get my legendary now :P heheh…
(edited by generalraccoon.3857)
And might I add something which i have forgotten. I feel and believe thievies have very good mobility. they have a lot of shadow steps available to them and traits such as “Move 50% faster in stealth” (stacked on top of swiftness and a 25% constant speed buff). despite all this, thieves still usually have to get to a relative close distance to you to deal damage. so if you manage to pin them down, most thieves have low defence so it should be easy enough for you to kill them.
Speed boosts don’t stack.
Yea. Question: those skills do not even stack duration? most of my toons dont have multiple speed boosts.. ty,..
Well OP, wont be E bay zergs for u to outrun anymore… hopefully better luck for u in the new match up! Whos the new bad guys for you this time? keep posting
E Bay person here… Just got out of Eternal…. dang killing FA is tiring (and i mean in a good way, a compliment, not insult), theres so many of em. Hell of a fight! I just had to come here and post my appreciation for such awesome fights.
I don’t mind so much that we have to go through EB. I agree that it’s a bit of a bummer that it will affect EB queues, but I simply love the idea that there is a possibility to DENY other servers entry into the JP via capturing the keeps. Granted as an Ehmry bay guy, right now it might be us that might get denied entry (oh we are suffering :P but still its very fun) but still, I find the idea of being able to affect control on the JP access a cool thing.
My only complain would be that once we are in, we can’t use other WPs in WvW to go out, so we either HAVE to go via the portal at the top or open the WvW window and choose a BL to get out.
I personally like the southsun greatsword better. Too bad I was never able to get a ticket to drop.
I have that! hehehe yea its cool and i have to admit I was super lucky that one time. I had almost given up on it. (still against RNG however! )
Super Adventure Box had the perfect core system.
You could work for what you wanted, although that was entirely personal and non-tradeable (i.e.: you couldn’t farm a profit), or you could get lucky and earn a hefty sum through a tradeable weapon.
I don’t mind them adjusting how difficult it is to attain something (as long as it’s reasonable of course), but I want to be able to actually earn what I want through work, and not just hope I get lucky, and if I don’t happen to be lucky, all I’ve done was for nothing.
Alternatively, just sell the items for gems. I don’t mind paying for items, but I refuse to dump money into a lottery. I farmed over 50 supply crates in southsun for the one skin I really wanted. Not ONE claim ticket. Not. One. I’m not mad enough to shell out real money for 50 more crates for a whole new wad of nothing.
Thanks for reminding. Yeah this is pretty much the kind of system I can fully agree with
Is there anywhere that shows other weapon’s looks for that set? I’m not a particular fan of such GS, mind u. See AC greatsword for my preference :p
I got a precursor, Storm for Meteorlogicus, off a random trash mob in Arah path 4 (this is why I really cringe at skipping mobs usually). A friend of mine got Dusk off from mystic toilet. Yet another one got Zap from killing in WvW. Precursors in general, are just that random and fickle. It is VERY annoying and I think the devs intend for it to annoy us that way.
I haven’t read all through the past 5 pages, skimmed it mostly, but just to add my thoughts to it…
Farming is acceptable, i believe, because devs have said this and thru the use of 200% MF on southsun, shows this. But I do believe they don’t want people to excessively, obsessively farm to the point that it is almost all they ever do. Certain grindy goals, like legendary for example, i believe the devs intend for players to get it after a looooong time, not even a matter of a few months. As always the playerbase defies this projection; as in almost any other games, we often find ways to astonish devs.
Now, I dislike RNG but i concede to its use in some issues. Legendaries are one such. We should have to farm to get it, but not as much as some are doing now. Take ur time. Though having said that there is one aspect in what the devs did that I would and do complain about. RNG on RNG for a content that’s temporary. Yea, u know it, the new weapon skins. A double RNG (as if one wasnt bad enough) on something with a time limit means that unless you gotten superbly lucky (i did, but i still protest in principle), you have to farm FEVERISHLY… or spend cash on it FEVERISHLY in hopes of getting it. The worse off ur luck is, the more insanely u have to farm.BEcause unlike legendary ur window of opportunity to get it is VERY limited, depending (again) on luck.
Now I know some people say, it’s just skin. doesnt affect stats. optional stuff. I can’t buy into that because the cosmetics i believe are part of what we (some of us at least)do in game. Also note this is a game, so technically its ALL optional, but for me, whether or not it affects stats/gameplay or just skins, or whatever else tht u wud say is not “necessary”, it is a goal that anyone can set and is their right to set it, hence i avoid saying “it’s optional” to ppl, coz i think thats for them to decide ultimately and should be respected as such.
ahh ok thanks for the answer
lol, just joking mind u. I am usually against nerfing anything (because… god forbid.. they might nerf my favourite classes next! :O ) i’d rather see buffs
Maplestory used to be buffs only…now look at it…so bad
Pretty soon people are going to be saying they can do LEET damage.
Oh wait…
OMG awesome screenshot there! hahahah
anyway seriously, yeah I’ve seen Maplestory :P… and what I meant by preferring buffs is not a continual escalation of powering up classes up to the sky so to speak. I meant bringing up other classes just enough to be up to par with each other in the many activities in the game. The reason being that by not nerfing exisiting powerful build/class it wont ruin it for the ppl currently using them but gives the typically handicapped “others” a fighting chance.
but thats beside the point, because i just wanna see here what counters thieves, (rascally kittens they are!) within the existing framework
the idea has merit to it, and i do like it.
however if everyone is running many different events and such, how are we to tell which mobs are new (thus less chance to get good loot) and whichhave been around a long long time and untouched (thus have higher good loot chance)? Or is it personalized, as in if we personally havent done the event for a long time, it gives better loot just for us? Or we r not spose to know which events/mobs are those that will give better chance?
I really like the idea of this. But it has been said before, even in precursor related threads, hence im getting the impression devs dont want this idea or sumthin… but that’s just my sentiment on it :P
Understand that thieves were designed to kill…………… players. They do have that advantage of determinating if a fight starts or not.
And other profession where desinged to do what?
Warrior to farm cof?
Guardian to do fractals?
Enginieer to kill quagons?
Ranger to hunt rabbits?
So you basicly saing that Thief is the only pvp profession in game becasue its players vs players?
Lets just limit pvp to theifs becasue they where desinged to do it.
And when I get killed by Theif should i just smile and say “Silly me what im doing here playing pve profession in pvp, I need to make a theif and play Guild Wars 2 normally.”
Honestyl I have nothing against people playing Theif but it is so anoying profession to fight with, there is no fun in it and everytime I got defeted by Theif i feel in some way cheated.
Probably the thing to say is “Thieves have a significant advantage in killing players”.I am sure this was the intended meaning here. this may be issues with the word ‘designed’ as it can imply other classes were not meant for it.
I do feel for ur annoyance with thieves; in and out of stealth, stabby stabby… the whole fight usually revolves with them controlling the tempo, so to speak. But that’s why we are here: to dicuss and find ways to get back at mr stabby :P
Inspect could lead to… elitism?
You do realize that every exotic has the same exact stats…. right? Please explain to me how this can lead to… elitism? Everybody is the same, there is no gear progression what so ever. All the people who bother to max out their profession can just cough up their exotics and be the same as everybody else.
An inspect option would be useless, unless you wanna see what vanity gear/skins people are wearing, because ofc, those do get upgraded. >.>
I think the majority of ‘elitism’ mentioned here isn’t about getting higher and higher numbers, but rather the preference on specific type of stats, namely Berzerker. the concern of ‘anti-elitists’ here is that they dont want to be forced/encouraged/pushed towards only the type of stats, and thus build, that the ‘elitists’ prefer.
I was thinking about making either a video guide or write one here on how to counter most of the annoying moves of the thief. Maybe I should – it would force the bad thieves to learn their class more because they won’t be able to do that much any longer :p
definitely wanna see this. wud be nice to be able to turn the tables on them once in a while :p
i certainly hope no massive storm (like 15 pages long for example, …:P ) comes as a result of this topic. however having cleared at the start of this post that there are options to …opt out, or keeping it voluntary, i dont see much reason to oppose this.
I’m still having a hard time understanding…. maybe im just slow, so i apologize… what is wrong with just gear pinging? Have i ever wanted to know what gear a guy was wearing when i saw them around in game? Yes, but only for cosmetics, i could care less about their stats though I know and acept other ppl might go so far as to being curious abt the stats too. Did I ask the person? yes i tried whispering, he didnt answer. But i left it at that. I didnt put much thought about it short of trying to look at dulfy or gw2armorgallery.
“interacting with strangers is an MMO thing " or sumthin like that, somewhere up there one of you said that, (im so lazy to browse thru again) so whats so wrong with just asking. Will we get an answer? well maybe, or maybe not, but then it shud be a given we wont always get everything we want all the time here. I mean i wanted the jetpack, didnt get it though and i had neither sufficient gold nor real money to get it, so well i just had to deal with it.
Update: someone in wvw got Dawn today. I QQ’d for a long time.
The Really Nice Gift gods gave it to the wrong person??!! Nooo~! :P
NERF THIEF!
lol, just joking mind u. I am usually against nerfing anything (because… god forbid.. they might nerf my favourite classes next! :O ) i’d rather see buffs
I do grant that thieves are notorious in their advantages against other players. But rather than belittling the topic, I am hoping more ppl wud share their specifics on how they have countered thieves. The OP has listed some general ideas, though did not put in class specific counters, which he himself noted. I’m hoping others can add input in their regard.
Personally, only in two regards have I ever survived wonderfully enough in an encounter against an enemy thief.
1. As a warrior, dungeon built and tanky, can’t kill stuff at all in pvp. But can absorb the thief’s stabby stabby, and can put some hurt on thief; never enough to kill but just so to keep him away a bit. So it was stalemate. he got tired and left.
2. Mesmer with clones and a little stealth. keep popping clones and stealth, i ended confusing the poor guy i think. That thief went on a rather long stealth, popped up ready for his backstabbing coup de grace, with BAM! He whacked my clone! And I watched all that from a distance, shaking my head :p
just personal stories, i havent really refined anti-thief stuff… but then thts why im here… to learn
… and don’t forget screenshots once u do!
Hopefully this is the right place to put this matter…
Now, to start off, our guild does guild missions every week and we always try to ensure everyone gets their guild commendations. So if some people didn’t get it on guild bounty for example, we would start another bounty quickly and pick ONE of the targets, and everyone who missed the first try jumps in, kill the target (with assist from others in guild, even those already done and got their commendations) and get their commendations.
Guild Trek and Rushes are usually quite easy and we’ve never failed em and rushes have so much time on it we can help and acomodate lots of people on it. Recently however we got the southsun rush the first time, and well it was quite the disaster and we just barely got the 15 ppl through. So many others however didnt get their commendations, so we started another rush, got the devourer one in Diessa, lots of us passed it, we got the chest at the end, but not the reward one with the commendations. All of us who didnt get commendations in first run and did the second rush got no commendations…
So I’m not here to debate on details on how to run that dang southsun rush, but to ask a question… is this intended or some ongoing bug or what? I’m asking, on behalf of a few of us as well, because for guild bounty, starting a second one will still get the participants, that is those who have yet to get it, their commendations. How come it’s not so for guild rush?
tl;dr: how come a second guild rush didnt give commendations to those who havent got it from the first rush? (Guild bounties do!)
Ahh… and another one… No, really, i share the pain in this matter, OP. I got lucky a few times in getting good in-guild groups doing AC a few times and it was cakewalk. Kohler? Really? That guy dies faster now it seems.
But then I get some bad pug groups and it bcomes total insanity. Kohler is like a granite wall everyone is just bashing their heads on all of a sudden. Also, why PUG it? because most ppl, even most guildies dont wanna run it, apparently it is “impossibly hard now” or too mindblowingly annoying…. so they only run it for DM title or just for Gift of Ascalon (legendary Greatsword chasers!), which most of us have already, so…..
I could agree on that bit abt being annoying. Path 2 AC seems to bug out on me a number of times and we had to quit the run because of this. Annoying enough FINDING a group to run AC (and thats not even certain its a good group) but bugging out like this makes everyone quit and not return.
also OP… Fez… bowtie? ………..Doctor Who fan?
Uhm, can solo simin in about 5 minutes.
That’s interesting. Do you not get petrified when alone? Rest of the path is solo able would love to see a path 4 complete solo to shut everyone up.
Curious abt this myself, but stability does mitigate petrification. maybe he has lots of it?
Anyhow, i’ll keep in mind abt the screenshot if i ever get into such situations. thus far my last 4-5 runs on this path have been successful even with inclusion of classes generally considered as non high dps (like rangers) but i can get how sometimes things can get way out of hand. but arah runs isnt a regular thing for me… might take a while..
I fully suppose an OPTIONAL inspect addition to the game, where I can check a box that says “No, the person wanting to be carried by people with better gear than themselves and/or the uncreative person who wants to steal my build will not be allowed to do so”. So that if they try to look at my stuff, they see nothing. If they don’t want to run with me because of that? GOOD! It saved me the trouble of dealing with a fail player, anyhow.
They get their inspect, I get my privacy AND my sanity from not having to deal with them. Everyone is happy.
yeah, i can agree to this. im doing fine with dungeons without anyone specifically knowing my build. The after effects of otherwise, I wont speculate but neither would i care to experience and find out. if there has to be an /inspect, i want the option to say no to it.
Ehmry Bay citizen here! Ur story made my day! really! if i can figure out which one u r in wvw id let u kill me coz this story is so nice (hmm.. would be super awesome if u kill me and got Dawn, coz i heard thts how one of our guildies got his precursor, by killing in wvw!) Hopefully u get Dawn soon. For that awesome storytelling, i really think u deserve it! hahaha…
For those trying to shame/ belittle those advocating a healthy boundary normally found in society (the right to share or not share information), your curiosity, your need for your convenience, your demand for having things your way for your benefit (e.g. your erroneous sense of entitlement) stops at the door of my right to choose whether or not to share (privacy).
You have the right to play the game the way you choose within the bounds of the EULA. If you demand that I share information before joining a group, then I have the right to not do so and face the consequences of not doing so.
Oh and btw, I am elite. I am a min/maxer. I am not an elitist. I am also a person who values privacy and the right to set that healthy boundary.
Privacy has nothing to do with quality of gear/specs, playstyle, perceived or otherwise.
It’s a core value. If you are interested in my gear/specs, you can certainly ask. I have the right to choose whether or not to respond. And I may choose not to respond for a variety of reasons. I may choose to be friendly and helpful. I get to make that choice. Just because you demand an answer does not guarantee you will receive one. That implies that, somehow, you have the right to that information. You do not.
As to /inspect itself. Again, I repeat myself:
/Inspect enables if not creates an environment that damages, degrades, and destroys community, as well as arguably both build and gameplay diversity.
My argument is that /inspect has no place in GW2 because the concept of inspect itself is fundamentally flawed.
In reality, the only real purposes that are served by /inspect are abusive and divisive. And an invasion of privacy.
My favourite post! well said!
The one thing that really annoys me about AC right now is how hard it is to get a team to run it sometimes, even in guild. Gaaahh… just another 40 tokens to get that weapon skin and im stuck! :p
Seriously though, I can understand that the level of coordination required can be challenging and i can concur that this is quite an uphill requirement for the FIRST dungeon, but i am having hard time seeing why Kohler is so hard that even some in my guild says fighting him without cave troll assist is suicide. We persuaded two such naysayer in our group once, (me and the remaining 2 are RL pals, so we usually run together) and after they made such declaration, my pals and I charged Kohler and we killed him. No fuss, no deaths.
tl;dr: i agree somethings are really challenging for first timers to dungeon, on the first dungeon, but i cant agree to kholer being nerfed though…
10 pages! good god that’s long.
Sorry for jumping in middle like this but this really is a curious topic to read… but 10 pages… if u dont mind me asking something that might have been covered before in some of the middle pages, is there argument against people who do not want to be inspected, whether they realize it or not? As in people who do not wish their information be shared?
Well that title had me… confused a bit… hehehe :P
But not to stray from the originally intended discussion, we did the run first time and a side from a few hiccups in getting the mechanics right, we never even noticed the dps check/enrage timer mechanic. But did it another time with a different group, and well… let’s just say we CERTAINLY noticed it this time!
My conclusion is that it is a minor dps check, hardly anything so high that it is impossible except to only a ‘select few’. Rather I think most ppl can do it with moderate amount of DPS. But I am AGAINST the idea of this mechanic regardless. In itself, this instance’s dps check is negligible to the point I don’t really feel it warrants that much outcry, but the implications of having said mechanics in the long run is that it is a trend that, once again, favors dps groups.
Look, I know zerker builds are all the rage right now but that is because high dps is like the shortcut to almost all encounters. I think that if anything, we should find ways to lessen the constant demand for high dps builds only otherwise it will lead to the game having only one flavor of doing things.
I certainly think this is the way to go with Warrior. Even as it is now, I usually rush in quick with my warrior to get the bonuses from full bar of adrenaline (the health regen and more dmg). It could be better I think, but all in all thanks for voicing this out and hope it inspires some..ahem…devs to look into it
Haa the zerker warrior theyre so many of them.
anyways OP, i get that there is the opinion that full zerker plus good dodge can go a lonnngg way, or something to that effect. I do respect ppl who pull it off, but as u said u dont like being glass cannon, so i just would like to add in a bit.
i use mainly soldiers (P/v/t) armor with a mix of zerker and knights trinket. i use mostly shouts, healing signet and warbanner elite when in party for dungeons. usually i aim for 3k+ attack and armor, and boost my dmg further by boons and traits. no, i dont rely on crits or conditions much. shouts with the vigorous shout trait (grandmaster vitality trait) and lung capacity (also a trait on vitality line, faster shout cooldown) gives a some boost to healing, supplementing the regen.
Again, yea zerker build, l2dodge, can get thru anything. I believe that line. i really do. but i am posting here just incase you are interested in doing things a bit more… uhm.. relaxed… u know, not twitch a lot and actually survive mistakes a bit. I mean I did get thru all dungeons with this, so i suppose it can work too? :P
hi there!
My warrior is my primary and thus its the first toon I ever got to 80, which was sooo long ago. I was intrigued by your post because my warrior uses Gs/Rifle and the adrenal health/healing signet mix as well. I don’t know if all I did then is still relevant but anyhow, just to start, my warrior is largely for dungeon running, and i rarely use her in WvW and never bothered with spvp.
currently: sorry i never really used any build editor thing but i remember my warrior build easily enough.Traits i use are 20/0/20/30/0 and choices of major traits Berzerker power, Slashing power, sure footed, last stand, empowered, lung capacity and Vigorous shouts. Armor is Soldier stats (power/tougness/vitality) with superior rune onf melandru. Trinkets are a mix of knights and berzerkers and a Soldier backpiece. Weapons are berzerker stats. apply whichever sigil is best, for gs i just use sigil of force.
Skills: Healing signet, For great justice, on my mark. Endure pain and battlestandard (switch to signet of rage if solo). On the matter of healing signet, i see a lot of ppl prefer other healing skills, and theres a thread that complain healing signets are weak. I will just say im NOT a min-maxer and probably other healing skills are better somehow. but i will say I want to be lazy. and passive heal is lazy. also u get a bit more regen from adrenal health trait. plus i actually got dungeon master on this build…
For starters, I will say this emphasize my decently lazy play style. really why bother with high crit and stuff but dodge around like a bunny when i can rahter just move about lazily abit here and there and just lazily whack things? :P high damage for me is achieved by boons and traits (berzerker power gets as high as 12% more dmg i think and empowered gives u a small boost in damage for every boon you have… any boon even if its a non dmg modifier boon like vigor). What i get overall is good enough damage, decently survivable and usually relaxed play (but hey if perfect dodging is ur style, maybe u can tone down defense for more offense?) also the two shouts are to increase damage but with the traits also give some slight healing. really cool stuff in fights, plus they heal ALLIES too.
for levelling process, i advocate going for more dmg first, as i find warriors tend to survive better by killing things fast in the open world and pve. probably why zerker warriors are so popular but zerker builds are usually nice if you like do or die types. i opt a more balanced approach. you could do WvW if u run with zergs (since running wvw is usually said as a nice way to lvl a toon,) but use a longbow instead so u can aoe tag mobs better.
well i dont wanna make this too long, so ill finish off by saying, in the end u have to adapt a build to how ur comfortable with. no need to carbon copy a build and not get the most out of it because of differing playstyle.
I am a dungeon runner mostly so obviously I would advocate dungeon running. I know I know, it can be hard, but also it’s all about the teamwork. 5 well kitted out toons that play with no teamwork will more likely wipe than most 5 man party that does good teamwork. It’s a team kind of game anyhow, and really there is little you can do without a good group.
Karma spending: if you don’t need anymore gear (temple armor etc) and not saving for obsidian shards (legendary mats) you can try spending it on Orrian Jewelry boxes. There’s a chance for minis, mats, lodestones, obsidian shards, more karma and MONEY from those things.
Hmm I haven’t really taken someone elses portal to get up there so I have yet to tip anyone. But I did port people up myself, and the last one gave me 60s.
Honestly though, I wouldn’t charge for ports. I accept coins as appreciation, but I’d port ppl for free regardless. Just something I enjoy doing. I feel useful :P
1. never liked RNG. more than i hate grinding, i hate grinding with RNG.
2. never liked relying on luck. skill or persistance or even more preferable, cleverness is my preferred methods to get something.
3. The new skins, couldn’t careless if they’re rare or common. I do want them because I like the looks. I’d use any stuff I like even if it cost 1 copper, and is sold by any vendor in any city and everyone and their grandmothers are using it. If I don’t like the looks (like the Fused skins, not my style really) no amount prestige heaped upon it will make me even spend 1 copper in the way of attempting to get it.
Yea I get that you were illustrating a point, a little blunt maybe but I also get how frustrating it is if ppl simply shrug off ur points or get them wrong constantly
Anyhow I just wanna add, having recently passed on this karka backpiece to my newest lvl 80 toon, (because he has no other better backpiece to use), I do admit it isn’t a super big challenge to get it. It takes some time to be sure, some people do it slower than others and some people also have less time to spend to accomplish. But hey, looking at the backpiece itself, I really don’t think it should be too much a task to get it. Odd stats to be sure but overall it is weaker than most exotic backpieces (doesnt have regular upgrade slots where u can put gems/jewels that gives bigger stat boost than those infusions) and would take additional effort to actually upgrade it to ascended. So im mostly content with its acquisition. Mostly.
As for a sense of uniqueness in looks. Well that can’t be helped. If it generally looks good, people will do A LOT to get it. I mean, I would love a Twilight, yet look at how many Twilights are being carried around these days? :p (But i’ll still work to get it though…)
I do think it’s a phase that will run its course, so like many said, if you really like it, give some time and not many ppl will be using it soon (once new stuffs are in). Seriously. When I first ran dungeons, I wanted AC greatsword bcoz for me it’s one of the best gs skins. you know how many ppl carrying those around then? There arent so many now, at least thats what im seeing in Ehmry Bay. Quaggan backpiece, I had that and it was the cutest thing to put on my warrior :P now even i am not using it. :P So in short, just have fun and enjoy the stuff if u can get it. dont worry abt ppl. they’ll sort themselves out
