Kit Refinement restricts swapping

Biggest hit is med kit tho, magnetic aura is great but the kit has heals, condition removal, swiftness and fury, not to mention people love to spam it for speedy kits. Also it’s a strong heal, short cool down ( that can be shorter and recharge when you hit 25% ) in other words, this skill is awesome and you’re going to go in it all the time… so KR will rarely trigger with any other kit..

people go on it every 20s for the fury, and swiftness.. and before getting to fights, so how’s this gonna work out if they any other kits ?

I just wanted make some comments on changes brought to Elixir U. First off, I’ve never really used this utility much, only in a few builds. Although the quickness reduction doesn’t bother me, what made me more upset was that they removed Veil from the toss elixir. To me it had a great function, mostly in spvp/wvw. Now it plays a completly different purpose for me. As for it being a stun break, when it comes to that, I don’t see why on earth you would pick it over Elixir R, which gives you both endurance back, has lower CD, and the toss effect being much better than from Elixir U. I guess you could go with both, but as I personally never was a fan of it, I see even less reason to pick it now. Maybe for the toss effect in dungeons, to protect you from projectiles and stack some blind on bosses – though this is only effective with pistols and rifle.

it was probably my fault… i started using FT on tPvP during the weekend and i might have hit a Dev.. my bad

it sucks tho cause FT only has 2 damage skills ( and FT #1 sucks ), so having 1 hard hitting one woulda been fine and kept the kit attractive ! honestly i fell in love with the FT over the weekend and lots of engi did!! now its just bad again

That’s the thing, Anet is not encouraging us to swap kits, they want us to stay in 1 kit and make builds around that 1 kit.. at least that’s what it feels like.. a dev official response should be nice

We knew we were losing kit refinement. Did you really expect a 10 point trait to remain that powerful?

Yet rangers have a 5 POINT trait that gives them quickness everytime they swap pets. Seems legit.

you gotta understand the poor guys tho, pets did 60% of their damage, the ranger itself damage is nothing but pretty animations, so quickness help balance this.. and now they are taking a huge hit!

Wow, 100nade kiddies are frustrated.

It’s not 100nades kiddies, just anyone and everyone who used kits, not many cared that 100nades was gonna be gone, it was expected, but kit refinement is kinda pointless now after being an important part of every kit engineer.. you play HGH build so you wouldnt understand but once they go after HGH, you will be the one creating post!

they could just moved up the tree, everyone would been fine with that, and besides look at all our tool grand master? do you consider them build defining or a sad little joke ?

Personally, i find it annoying and distracting! is there any ways to toggle them off so you don’t have to see “toy maker something” on everyone? or at least hide them in sPvp

All kits get in the way of speedy kits, and on the way of each other now, great…

If you want swiftness! no Kit Refinement for you, SIR!

if you want Magnetic aura!! no swiftness, fury, condition removal and small heals from Med kit for you, SIR!

Multikit builds and Kit refinement? haha you must be joking,SIR

Anet if you care about engineers! take Med kit off the global cool down and give it its own 20s cool down…!! and explain to us why do you hate multikit builds ? it’s now more than clear that you don’t want us using more than 1 kit at the time..

ps: kit refinement is for chickens!! most of it’s abilities seems to be aimed for running away :S!

you can place down bombs, specially big old bomb and pull then bush mobs away, and spvP it works great since no one has a clue what engineers are or what we can do

Bummer that they knocked Flamethrower down again. Trading the lame firewall for the double-pop is a huge net loss for the kit.

A good Engineer should be changing kits very often. A trait that makes you want to wait to change kits is just plain dumb.

that would be true if mesmer did not have so much damage, if you sPvP or WvW, pay attention and you will notice you can fight most classes normally, tank for a little, have a fun time, and then a mesmer comes and melts all of your hp..

@Zenguy.6421, yea, trust me.. last buff was not a really a buff at all, acid bomb, altho a blast finisher is good, its only rewards come when you don’t use kit refinement, in other worlds, get a blast finisher but no KR!

@zaragoz.6351 i hear you, that would be the worst, personally I rifle because of all of it control, and dislike pistol for the lack, if they were to nerf rifle i would prob just quit, i got that feeling tho lol

i could be wrong, but im pretty sure the pet comes back to near even after being knock off, fear, push and even kill ( if you swamp ), I know i was playing my condi thief, at 20 bleeds 127 each, the ranger’s pet managed to revive the owner like nothing

We are not the new mesmer. FT is still not worth taking other than allowing for more burst damage with the Number 2 into your DPS dump. Even then tho its not.

You take it because you like attention, like the way it looks, or both. Our reputation hasn’t changed we have always been deadly in decent hands but our class still lacks a firm sense of being a minor buff to FT’ hasn’t change that, if we were to be honest.

We may have more people playing the class now but that is just due to the reputation the 100nades build has got us.

honesly, FT 2 is really strong and #3 makes it worth it(push/relfects) and #5, altho not a big fan of it on PvE, this skill is a good stomp skill for sPvP, also works great to rupt HB warriors! they hate it lol

FT 1 is deff not worth it, and 4 just lacks purpose, just a big “why…”

and now after update, with GS #1 and scepter #3 uncalled boost, mesmer will determine the outcome of every single fight

Dude IZerker is missing 3 out of its 4 attacks… It sucks right now. Anet bugged it and they have no clue how to fix it…

I just tried it, it does miss sometimes but not 3 out 4, maybe i should play it a little longer and see

also, there was some mesmer on tourneys yesterday whom kept hitting me for 7k’s with iserker

All in one build? God people are stupid. If we have the 2 teleports we don’t have the the crazy push/pull (unless running focus but then its just 1). Engineers have better access to longer lasting confusion. We may get 3seconds of stealth every 30+ seconds but our stun breaker’s really don’t do anything else for us (ele cantrips however long CD and invuln or stability or teleport. Stun breakers that do more but that is why they are on longer c/ds). The iZerker really doesn’t hit for anything right now it got bugged out in the last patch. Which you would know if you weren’t a moron. Our short c/d cripple-immob is one of the buggiest skills in the game. Anet has stated this they have also said they can’t really do anything about it. The only way we can get a stun w/o going into a GM tree (which would prevent deceptive evasion or IP) is a signet that is only really good for the stun and a mantra or pistol. Thieves also get spammable dazes/stuns with a S/P combo… Forgot to mention that buddy. And we can not use moa or kitten the same time… And moa is very situational and if you bring it to a match your team should pimp smack you. Get your facts straight on classes before you go on making claims about OPness.

  • illusionary leap counts as a teleport and most mesmer run decoy, mirror and blink on sPvP and leap works perfectly fine on even terrain and illusion still remains..
  • Engineers can spike confusion for sure, but Mesmer can keep it on you 100% of the time by simply letting illusions die ? and use cry of frustration to spike it
  • you’re comparing to the best class ingame ? try to find skills like that in other classes
  • i kept gettin hit by 7k’s by iberserker last night on tourneys , maybe its your build ?
  • Theif’s daze has a tiny damage and uses high initiative, if they want to rupt you, they can’t spam heart-seeker lol so they don’t rupt, and when was the last time you saw a pistol whip thief after nerf :S
  • Moa is one of the strongest elites, capable of easily shutting down bunkers and tough enemies :S

We’re 1 day from the big update where 100nades is going to die and turrets will get buffed! how’s the engineer community feeling ? happy ? nostalgic ? anxious ?!

let us know on the comments below! ALSO post a list of your predictions and lets see who will be right!!

personal predictions:

Turrets!

  • Trump: same damage, add cripple and moderate range increase!
  • Rifle turret 10% damage increase
  • Flame: Shorter cd & special skill instant cast!
  • Rocket: same old same old

Kit refinement!

  • Global cd will work properly!
  • Super Elixir duration decrease from 10s to 3-5s
  • Grande barrage! decrease number of grenades to 3-4 and is no longer affected by grenadier
  • New ability to med kit ? maybe..

Also i get the feeling:

  • Rifle damage will be toned down
  • FT 2 damage willl be largely decreased and will now be a blast finisher!
  • Fix Jump shot bug
  • Poison volley slight increase in damage and less random volley!
  • Gadgets will be touched upon! nothing that we would notice

Boom hate

  • trait 1% increase in damage per boon ( won’t be nothing major )
  • Warrior’s mace skills will be made to remove booms
  • Thief will be able to steal more boons with that one trait, i forget!
  • Limit the way some booms stack!

hahaha ooops! i actually meant to say throw elixir R!!! and well, you don’t get down penalty if you get downed instantly so you would be able to get up several times and if you use Bowl of Fire Salsa ( 100% more health when rally ) I’m pretty sure you could outlive agony!

we should try this sometime :P just gotta find more engineers!

I Think it was my thread :P but why not simply drop x5 Elixir R ? Agony hits by % and Elixir revives by % so 100% hp each second + whatever revive candy you might use

you can use that trait that exilir last longer and potentially out live agony, simply healing it it’s impossible.

and starting tomorrow, elixir U will have a guarantee wall! it is deff possible for 5 engineers to run frac 50 easy

During the past few days, I’ve been hardcore farming glory to reach my next tier.. and everyday I’ve noticed more and more engineers playing to the point where its not uncommon to have 4-5 engi’s on the same map, whats funnier is that i’m currently playing a new build i created which uses FT and some players ask me about the build while others go and make their hole version! and now, every map i join i see clones of me running around! funny how this has turn out but lets keep it up on sPvP!

PS: Personally, I’m more afraid of engi now than to fight mesmers! and im sure most everyone is starting to feel the same way!! are we the new mesmer? lol

ps: Keep in mind that down states are different, so its impossible for classes like engineer to stand a chance vs guardian, necro, thief and specially warrior’s down state.
