Well, if you think about it, quickness was mainly used by warriors, and i don’t just mean sPvP, but also CoF P1 Farm which was mainly done by warriors who took advantage high DPS and TW to finish up bosses in a few seconds, which no other class can.. so indirectly this was a nerf to warriors and more specifically, a nerf to CoF p1 farm

hehehe I mentioned those things on my post as well, 100Nades was not the reason.. but yea, they don’t know what they want engineer to be, but they know they don’t want engineer killing fast or being too support

also, Soothing Mist on ele, is much stronger! 5 point trait.. they nerfed sElixir on kR cause people were bringing this kit only for x2 sElixir, and it seems they currently want everyone to stay longer on kits, and build around them, KR simply got in their way.. so they had to take it out

Great. Now i can’t even use my support build anymore. clap clap clap Oh, was super elixir buffed!? It’s still useless because it’s localized healing and you know that people move away from it not to get bursted down in. Screw this, i’m going back to guardian.

Actually super elixir was unchanged this patch. The lines about super elixir being changed were left over from a previous patch and included by mistake.

This made me really sad, especially since they haven’t bothered to fix the patch notes. I thought they had made a reasonable change with elixir gun with buffing it up like that, but they actually just put it down again.

From a numerical standpoint, I can kind of see where they’re coming from. The dual super elixirs was essentially the equivalent of a 20 second CD troll unguent, although you had to remain with the radius and spec into healing power to make it that strong in addition to traiting for it. But I’d just look at that and say “other professions are allowed to do it”.

They seem to have a concern with this trait being too powerful for an adept trait, so I’m a little confused why they don’t just turn it into a master level trait. I mean, leg mods, packaged stimulants, and even scope can really be swapped into the adept tier if they feel kit refinement is too powerful. This would solve their problems since players would now need more investment into tools to get KR (no 10-dipping), and it would then be ok for the abilities in it to be more powerful.

The trait was that not powerful at all, and they did not want to move it, they wanted to remove it completely, lots of players on brought EG because of this trait, and currently they are aiming to get players to stay in kits longer and make builds around them.. and KR got in the way of that..

Nah HGH won’t be nerfed.. this is what all engineers should be playing.

this has the RGN, mid range figher survival and doesn’t kill too fast, this is what Anet invasions Engineers to be, average ( not saying the is bad, the build is awesome but simply doesnt have anything that “shines” )

Anet nerfed one of core traits and made it garbage and for the first time since the game launched, they actually DELTED our strongest DPS build… so yea Engineers did not get any love, just a steel toe kick to the sack…. JS

Keep in mind that Kill shot does 12k normally up to 17k on glass cannons on sPvP Warriors will be come snipers!

Rifle warriors that do that much damage are squishy as crap and are incredibly easy to kill, not too mention all their burst can be avoided by simply dodging on time ONCE or just walking right past them while theyre kneeling down.

This build still wont be prominent cause it sucks in sPvP just as much as it always has.

that is true, rifle requires a different play style where you have to be sneaky.. on big fights stand somewhere far, and start sniping, and if the enemy comes at you, go axe/shield and use esviserate, on my current set up i crits for 9-12k and then you just stun rupt their heal attempt and have a free meal

in sPvP you just can’t go Tank & Spank like on PvE

100nades was not the reason they nerfed kit refinement… IT WAS THE EXCUSE… if they really wanted to nerf/balance 100nades they would have done it some other way, like idk ? toning down the damage or weakening the ability

100nades, did not kill as fast as backstab, it was really easy to counter, wasn’t as easy to set up, didn’t have unstoppable escape ability or extraordinary heal. it had a much longer cool down that current burst builds and it wasn’t played by hundreds of people flooding sPvP/tPvP maps everyday like thief, or Mesmer..

their real aim was kit refinement as a whole.. Anet is currently in the same boat as us! They do not know who the engineer is suppose to be or what it is suppose to do , their biggest challenge has been giving the class an IDENTITY..

That being said, they do know what Engineer is NOT suppose to do. Engineers are NOT suppose to kill that fast, They are not suppose to support, we’re suppose to..

the problem with this..

  1. Turrets have no control, die too fast or have any real impact
  2. we do not have lines that enemy cannot cross, bubbles or lots of relfects to “control space”. is AoE cripple from Thump turret how we’re suppose to control space?
  3. we’re suppose support to allies with alchemic weaponry.. really ? flame thrower/ Elixir gun ? they are currently on a really sad state that would not encourage anyone to pick them up and use like people do with Elemental weapons, not to mention than the only way to share our alchemic weaponry is when we go down…

    Anet’s vision of engineer is to be random, never knowing what to expect, to live by the RGN, and have modest damage but nothing outstanding! we’re not suppose to shine at any situation, and now they are forcing us to play how they want us to play, staying longer on kits and building around them..

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH ENGINEER IS: They envision the class to be one thing, but the people keep making it something else,so they nerf nerf…. this is exactly what happened to the paragon on gw1, they continued to nerf until they ruined the class so they gave them 1 build, the imbagon and stopped dealing with it.

Developers, please work with the community so we can come to an understanding and make the class better! unlike other classes, people who stick to engineer is because they truly love the class, we’re understanding. when you talked about 100nades nerf, most people agreed and accepted it! we just never expected you would go after every kit build, at the same time..

that depends. after patch lots of engineers were trying out turrets builds on sPvP, i would see them camping points, use flame blast and take out every turret at the same time :S they are really not that strong!!

but leave toolbelt alone! most of our best skills are there :P hehe! but yea.. a big ol bomb could take out every turret as well

The new effects are completely worthless and crippled by a shared cooldown.

/sigh, no, not entirely. The Medkit and Bomb Kit got far better abilities than they used to have, so not all of the abilities got kittenier.
Global cooldown is awful though.

no bomb hit! noooooo way!!! dropping a tiny bomb that would hit ( on my fulll berserker gear) 2-3k.. everytime i switch to the kit ! that was awesome but often undervalued! i used it before a dodge! leaving 2 tiny bombs that would do a lot of AoE damage to mobs and enemies!

the new bomb lacks range.. so unless the target is already inside the other bomb radious, this won’t do much! it doesnt even work for balling enemies S: .. the best use for this bomb to far is to use it when you have someone chasing you to slow them down, that’s about it

Deployable turrets is great since you can place on walls where enemy can’t hit, but be careful cause sometimes they glitch in the middle of object and all shots are “obstructed”, also remember this trait is glitched with Flame turret! but yea! turrets on trees the way to go for their survival!

he hasn’t tried to so he has no idea of how it works or how it used to work, personally i gave KR a try for Frac 38 + sPvP… KR is completely broken! it is nearly impossible to find the effect you want unless you only have 1 kit .. this problem with this is that engineer’s hardest hitting skills are on kits… and med kit is too good of a heal to replace for anything else

with the previews global cd, i used to use the old med kit, if i heard the little boom, the cd was up!

and the problem is that this trait gets on the way of everything, even if you only have 1 kit ( med kit ) the KR will still be wasted if you switch for swiftness or need a quick fury or condition remover

managing cool downs, you said it. you cannot do this with new kit refinement unless you stop avoid using certain skills and bringing more than 1 kit lol

KR would be in perma cd and you wouldn’t get the effects you need when you need them. thats what everyone is trying to tell you and you keep saying to keybind something and press it everytime the 20s cd are up lol

someone just told me that on the last built, they fixed this ( almost ), tool tip wont show changes but rifle turret and thump get their damage increase and cripple, But.. Flame turret is still bugged so if you use deployable turrets, you will still have the 40s CD

After messing around with turrets, I’m still not convinced. This patch is a step in the right direction, but they need more umph to them than just damage.

The buffs to Rifle Turret made Static Discharge even better, though. I love the added damage to Surprise Shot.

yea, thats true but scary, static discharge is currently our strongest burst damage build! and with this “buff” they now have reason enough to nerf static discharge and add a 1-5s internal cool down :/

now the question is, will they nerf this before or after they nerf HGH and Speedy kits ?

I have never been kicked out of a group for being engie, or for pulling out the ft, or for any reason. I have never experienced this engism you all keep pointing too.

I was looking forward to trying out a condition / turret build… then discovered that the turrets dont get the new buffs if you slot “deployable turrets”. Good times.

Uh, what…?

Deplorable turrets ( trait ) still uses old turrets, so if you have it on, flame turret will go back to its 40s cd, rifle turret will do 50% less damge and no cripple from thump!

its ironical how the trait, that people asked Anet to fix for soo long, is now bugged again and worst then before

It must be some sort of bug though..

Btw, I just tested it! The smoke screen (from overcharge) lasts for 30 sec (same as CD) and not 5 as in description. Idk if it’s been like that before or if it’s a bug. During this time it doesn’t do any damage, just keeps the field up for 30 sec until the CD is off. So basically you have a blind field for 30 sec. :S Again, idk if it’s been like that, since I only played with it like… once. Kinda sick though.

you tried that in mist golems right ? :P it’s a proximity bug! it will stop doing that if the target dies, or moves away or closer! there is that sweet spot that keeps it up forever lol

They could have simply replaced grenade barrage or toned down the damage and not many people would be as upset since most of the community knew it was coming and accepted it, but instead they decided to use 100nades as an excuse ( even with a fake 24k screenshot ) in order to destroy the entire trait, and i say destroyed because it not only took away

2 condition removals
small heal
snare
tiny damage from med kit ( 700-1k crit for me )
and our tiny bombs

but now the trait gets in the way of all our kit builds, cause now you can’t use speedy kits without having GCD up permanently, use multiple kits ( med kit included ) or time when you want an ability to happen because you might happen to need a medpack or a block.

Well.. you’re right, a trait shouldn’t define an entire build, BUT… what would be a theif, without mug ? or a mesmer that can’t create clones on dodge, or an ele without evasive arcane ?

FT damage is weak, and you don’t have to believe me, just read all the post about ft on forums, i dont think there has ever been an “FT is so good!” post, js

PvE, sPvP, WvW & Dungeons, all share the same mechanic, you need to kill and sadly to kill you need damage so it’s kinda important.. and as for guardian, they are one if not the best support class, also they can tank like bosses, buff and have the most projectile reflects/blocks out all classes and lots of CC, and idk if you’ever played one but a cleric guardian does the same damage as a berserker or condi engi using FT. so unless you can do all of those things, can’t really compare engineers to guardians :S

I would have to test it out, currently running full condi build cause DB is jsut that fun in the middle or zergs but thief have no problem getting 3,600 power and might is 35 power per might so 25 = 875 power which would put you at 4,475 power without blood lust or food

with bloodlust and food ( 200 on kill ), max attack should be 4,925 and if they use sword, it could easily be way over 3k with auto attack

I actually think questioning the validity of the Flamethrower in sPvP is a fair debate.

As an AoE kit, I do think it’s much better designed for group-play in PvE and badge-tagging in WvW in zergs. I use it in sPvP from time to time anyway, but there are better options.

If you want my honest opinion, I’m done with Kit Refinement and I’m tired of feeling dependent by it. ArenaNet kind of did me a favor in this patch, because I hated the loss of Energy Conversion Matrix (1%+ damage for every boon applied) when Incendiary Powder became a necessity.

Some people dislike having decisions made for them, but I have since rolled with a 10/30/0/30/0 setup and really don’t notice that large a drop in my survivability … though I do pair it with the Med Kit and Elixir Gun, which might affect others’ experiences compared to mine.

it’s an AoE weapon, correct but more than this, this is a farming weapon! in WvW its fine, you dont need the damage so simply put a little damg in as many targets and claim your badges, if you try using it on dungeons, your lack of damage will be heavily noticed and thus creates the common prejudice against engi that we have no damage.

and in sPvP, its terrible, specially with the current damage, 1 hard hitting skill mades us a treat to other players! and they would consider us as player! FT players now are back to being meal time

How is everyone getting hit with 6k mugs? I run a 1.2k toughness thief and Mug hits me for about 3.5k…I mean if your running GC expect to be hit hard…

its because they take the full out zerker thief hits, add a little extra to them and then think there the average thief hits.

And even then they are only concerned about the burst nature in pvp and not the fact that its on a 45 second base cooldown and such.

There was someone complaining about 3k auto attacks against 3k armour when my (albeit not 100% accurate) calculations put the required stats for that at around 110% crit damage and 4289 power which I don’t think the average thief runs with :/

not average but completely possible in WvW!

that “cherry picking” required a bit of skill, both positioning yourself and positioning your target! that’s a fun kinda of gameplay! and enemies would engage in battle better cause they would see it as a treat, use stun breaker, condi removal and “fight” you!

FT now is an OKAY kit, but not worth it anymore..

We got at least 1 buff...

They want us to start using 1 kit and build around that kit instead of swaping. 100nades was just the excuse they needed… not even a lot of people used it and 24k was Photoshop!

there are 2 problems

  1. fire aura: 1 might 5s might per hit, 1s internal cool down per enemy, last 4s
    mobs in pve will give you 2 at the most, and in dungeons, you will be half dead by then so useless useless!! AoE burn and condition removal was x1000 better
  1. since FT2 has been “fixed” FT really really has no damage, free meal for warriors and thief, 2 damage skills on a kit and they “fix” 1.. now we’re left with berserker gear, dealing bunker damage!

lvl 30 warrior could hit harder than us now

people were startign to use FT on sPvP and be competitive at almost even ground with normal classes ( not thief, mesmer or ele )! why ’fix" it :S

100 nades is gone but that’s very specific. Burst engi still exists, that’s all that matters.

Many people were concerned about it and running it in tpvp.

Lets be real, no body was concerned.. theif can kill twice as fast and backstab has a 4s (revealed ) cool down ?

Developers just seem to have something against Engineers, on the state of the game, they compared RotL being as strong as Engineer being able to dodge 4 times while carrying the orb on the new map ? we’re “suppose” to be a mid range class that playing an important role in control.. all control skills were given to guardian.

as a rank 40 who used to run my version of this build, can tell you, not a lot of people runned 100nades on sPvP… it was rare but got removed anyways..
