Meh i guess they will never change it, even if its mostly only them who think that way. I mean is not such a big deal you can still play but it would make WvWvW more interesting instead of just a zerg rush that tower, zerg rush that and this.
I would be more worried about opposing people whispering saying hey give you a gold to keep us updated on where your people are going. Offers like that to new players or poor players would be to hard to pass up. Imagine the amount of paid spying would be going on. 1g to just say hey they going bay or hills north would be an easy pay day. Especially if your bl hopped to inform them.
THAT would be really interesting.
About saving network, the server already has to poll for the guild name and items/stats i dont see how names could add a high overhead. There must to be another reason.
What’s the reason then? Pretty dumb, if you see someone killing a hell lot of people alone you would like to know who he is to avoid and/or gank him xD

I know names are hidden to avoid whispers like ‘lol nub owned’ and so on, but i wish this feature could be made optional. Activated by default, but you could chose to show your name, shouldn’t be hard to implement since some people is already exploiting a few bugs to whisper others…
Its true i have taken 3 people alone with my d/d ele. Was it you at the temple of the storms (the naga island) where i took a mesmer a guardian and a thief alone?
Keep im mind this doesn’t happen because eles are OP. This happens when there are low levels or people without full exotic gear, which gives them a very good advantage…
use gw2lfg.com it helped me a lot to find groups, you can even group with people of other worlds. I dont know why this isnt implemented in game.
I gotta say after leveled to 80, done dungeons and WvWvW i dont think im coming back to sPvP until it doesn’t change, the difference between both modes is sooooooo abysmal you can really tell sPvP was designed in a few hours and is the ‘meh we should do this w/e we can just to bring people but dont put too much effort on it’ part of the game
Guys remembers dungeons are not only about bosses as well, come on, Arah story mode is kittening epic, the whole dungeon, and the final boss as well.
And the coment above is right, WoW and other copycat games bosses were ‘interesting’ only for healers and tanks, dps was exactly and even worse than here, dps from the back, ‘dodge’, reposition, avoid aoe.
Something i love about the pve in this game is that you dont need to spend 8-10 hours on a dungeon with a specific schedule. You can just hop on your character, find a random team do a dungeon actually get useful stuff if you are needing them and then leave in less than 1 hour.
I think the reason is that this game is for more casual, normal people gameplay. You wont see elitists guides and guilds doing extremely complex and extense fights like you would see in WoW. Sometimes complex, and complicated, like WoW’s bosses, is not fun. The bosses can be easy AND fun like here, i actually enjoyed most of them, excluding a few kitten bosses ofc.
One thing i may agree, is that ressing back and keeping fighting is a bit lame, at least against bosses. And also there should be some indications about agro as well.
This is not true, skills have a cast time and after cast based on the animation they use. To ease any thief worries we are not limiting back to back skill use on purpose. This is in fact the point of initiative and why thieves feel different than other professions.
just curious, are you happy with and is it your intention for moves with no cast time to be able to be used in the middle of a move with a cast time? For instance lightning flash during churning earth and steal during cloak and dagger.
Yes this is part of the design of the combat.
Does it only work with utility skills? Because i cant cast heal and ride the lightning for example, while rtl is instant cast. Same with updraft and other instant cast skills. Maybe this only applies to casting skills that pins you in place?
I just want to see who afked and if x change improved or sucked. Come on seriously you can get gold by hitting a few times and then going afk.
I would love to see some stats after completing an event, a dungeon, or even a boss. Like damage done, healing or w/e you guys use to determine the amount of help you provided to an event, but it would be nice to see SOMETHING so you can compare if you are improving or you are just useless to the group.
The Orr ‘end game’ zone is just empty, u guys ruined it by adding fractals of the mist, people now is just spaming lfg at lions arch no one cares to do events anymore, any plans on making these zones populated again?
To be more precise, im going for light power/vit/toughness main set, and power/precision/toughness accesories (rings, trinket, neck). I know i can get most (if not all) of the armor pieces with karma and the accessories from jewelcrafting. Plus i have already bought exotic weapons from the trading post.
My other issue is have only 3 transmutation stones left and i have pretty much 100% maps complete, just missing major cities and wvwvwv. And no im not buying gems for keys or stones…
Sup, i have reached lvl 80 a while ago, bought a whole set of rare items. And already bought an exotic piece from karma, and still trying to max out jewel and wepsmith.
Now my question is, whats next? Should i farm karma and/or dungeons to get a whole set of exotic gear?
One more question about ascended gear, i heard you can get them as well doing WvWvW, how?
After that? Farm Fotm 24/7 to make myself ascended ring and back? Is ascended gear much better than exotic? What should i am to?

My wifi is not working at its 100% recently, with around 1% packet loss, the problem is that ONE single packet loss makes the whole game freeze and disconnect rather than just a small lag, anything can be done about this?
Couldn’t agree more with you this is the main reason im leaving pvp and just doing casual Pve, completing maps and stuff, which i can do any time i want the amount of time i want, instead of this silly 5v5 system where i have to find people and play for hours obligated.
I guess that was one of the main reasons WoW pvp got so popular, you could just log into the game, find an online friend, do a few arena matches and leave easily.
Maybe not WoW arenas, but gw2 really NEEDS smaller scale pvp for casuals like 2v2 and 3v3 even if it is not like WoW, im sure they could go on some cool idea for 2v2 and 3v3.
I say this, because i couldn’t play a tourney(paid, serious one, not random one) since the release of the game, i play myself alone with another friend and we just dont have time to find people to play with us. Its so frustrating we end just doing sPvP and now quit pvp at all just doing PvE…
Thats nearly useless…. Would be nice to have it working with effects like ‘do something depending on your attunement’.
This arcana minor master trait, whats the actual purpose of it? Whats the point of having more than 1 element buff at the same time? If the game still treats you like if you had 1 element? This is why im asking if this is a bug or not. Since i haven’t seen any skill with ‘depening on your attunement’ effect work with this at all. For example, the healing one, if you have 2 attunements buffs you still get only 1 bonus. So, is this bugged or it is just as useless as is it seems?
Teleporting via waypoints cost is way too high at lvl 80… You can easly spend a few golds traveling to do your personal story. Can we reduce it a bit ?
Im sure it works like described above, kind of a stack of conditions.

Why do i keep getting exp after 80? Why does the bar still move even if i dont level up… Do i get any bonus or something?
So this is ridiculous, stand for 1 or 2 mins at any ore vein at timberline falls and random people appears and dissapears to mine it, not just 1, i have counted prolly more than 20 in the last few hours of leveling in this area, and i cant report them, seriously whats wrong with ANet? People hacks like this and no one cares…
There are some d/d eles running without a tank build, prolly 14k hp and pretty low armor, they can still survive if they dont get hit and my god you combine the traits with +X% damage and you can pretty much double the damage a bunker ele would do.
However this spec dies to backstab thieves, 1 backstab can drop you to around 2k hp easily, not that good

all HS needs is to remove the jump and auto face effect on the skill, make it only jump forward like elementalists where you have to time and aim to have a slight chance of hitting. But then people will complain, omg i cant spam and kill people anymore its too hard to hit =/
This is fine, in melee you can avoid being hit by just moving a bit. Do you really want arrows/projectiles to chase their target like in WoW? The system is fine, its not that easy in real combat nor gamebreaking.
Guild wars is becoming grind wars sadly. But well, WoW currently sucks so until new Blizzard’s mmo this is what we have, or go play tera korean mmo same grind(maybe more) but at least you have a ton of pvp modes and a nearly as good as gw2 dynamic combat.

It is so funny, a thief tried to catch me while i was running with ride the lightning just spamming HS, he used it just to catch me xD
Still an active effect would be nice… Eles seems to be missing something.
It’s funny because he cries about a 9k hit which needed the use of a 30 seconds utility skill, plus a 15 seconds shatter cd, and really good timing, while he did 7k backstab + 4k steal instantly, pretty much undodgable and without anything special.
Yes mesmers are OP, but so are thieves, they do more damage and easier. Gotta nerf them both.
3x mights was just an example, i only wish we could have an active effect just like engineers.
People may say eles are already OP dont buff them bla bla…
But heres a good suggestion, i have been feeling like attunements are pretty nice but yet they are missing some stuff, an active on use special ability, just like engineers, so:
-Add to each attunement a special on-use effect. You must be attuned to that element before using it. For example, switch to fire, it does the usual global cooldown of 1 second, and after that you can press the fire attunement again for an active effect, like gain 3 stacks of mights to you and all your allies.
I know this can be somehow achieved by using traits (arcane one?) but this should be a different effect.
-Also, it would be nice to every attunement give a pasive ‘aura’ buff, small, just like soothing mist from water traits, but this again, should come passively from any attunement and without traits.
With these two changes, we could actually do more builds, since currently we are kinda forced to go for the traits giving a similar effect for the above said.
Obviously, replace current traits which gives those effects with new and equally useful ones.
Ya there are like 3 posts about it already, just like fire grab, it misses half of the time because it only hits in a very small angle and ontop of that, it only hits on the angle you were aiming to the instant you started to cast it, so if you turn around or move a bit (which happens 99% of the time in pvp since enemies move) it will just miss because it shots in the wrong direction.
I find it really really funny how they removed some elementalist utility skills from sPvP (which i saw in PvE, pretty nice aoes but nothing overpowered) and they insist in keeping quickness in sPvP which is totally absurd and everyone complains about it.
SERIOUSLY, remove quickness already, it ruins pvp more than it already is.
Agree, this needs a nerf… But what can you expect from ANet if they do tournies and lose in the first round against pugs xD
Agree on all except downed state (i love it) and the combat is pretty good, i coulnt play WoW after playing this, i would be just trying to dodge or move quickly.
Gotta agree on the only 1 game type ontop of being capture, i wouldnt mind if it was only 2v2/3v3/5v5 arenas at least they are not as boring and zergy as capture
Couldn’t agree more, keep the aoe part of both tho, every melee attack seems to be aoe so should these since they are melee as well.
Each time an enemy dodges infront of you, on top of that you miss 3 or 4 more hits afterwards.
But shortbow fire ratio is like 10 times faster than ele or engi ones…
I wish we could get some devs attention here, its fustrating another dude running in circles around me and this misses 100% of the hits.
Checking ele videos from other classes seems like asura’s lightning whip is very small compared to the rest, might be this the problem?
Curious is that this never happens against dummies, just players and static objects like windows, boxes, even trebs.
