my friends are still playing SWTOR because they are huge fans of star wars.
I’m noticing a pattern. Social clothes sold on the cash shop, everything else being put in chests and chests or keys sold in cash shop.
Time for me to stop bothering with this games cash shop because I do not gamble and have no use for social clothes which only take up my inventory.
the portable mystic forge will really only save you the trip from the Trade Post to the Mystic Forge in the center of town.
That is only for the select few that like to gamble constantly.
It really is not as useful as a portable trade post or merchant which allows you to pick up items anywhere and vender items anywhere.
I doubt it’s better for all builds considering the lack of runes you can use.
But yes, mixed ascended and normal will probably be the best.

I also want to thank ANet for the update! Stats to me are nothing but the cosmetics stuff and new area are refreshing. A break from looking at half rotten zombies all day.
lets say you make 100k a year. Is 8 thousand dollars something you would pass on?
lets say your mortgage is 3.2%. Is a bump to 11.2% something that would not think twice about?

It is how ANet makes money, I’m shocked they have not put out more skins.
An LFG system that does not require us to spam /map chat.
I hope they include a lot of different choices in skins. It is how they make money, no sense is making all the choice skins obtainable in game only.
Put up the Cultural Skins on the cash shop. I am sure people would buy those for a start.
Just give me the option to buy it with real money, and let the dungeon-grind-lovers do their dungeons. It’s understandable that A-net is afraid of losing the dungeon loving customer segment.
I vote for just letting me buy it with cash. I have more money than time for this type of activity.
I don’t think I would mind this new tier of gear as much if I did not have to grind out a new set of appearance gear.
It’s only for one dungeon right? It is not as if they are going to keep introducing new instances that each require a different infusion or something.

No. Its an 8% precision increase, but that only adds up to about a 1% increase in the actual critical hit rate.

Thats not what I said at all. Im saying the resulting precision gain from the ascended gear (your 8%) counts towards about a 1.5% – 2% increase in the critical hit rate. They are separate terms. Do you understand? And before you say it, yes I realize thats different then the 1% I originally posted. My point still stands however.

When you use math as your argument, you should know how to do math and understand what that math means.
Percentages are more important than a single number because percentages represent part of a whole.

The simple fact people are upset tells you that this is a big deal and trying to belittle that tells me the kind of people some are. Frankly when the state of the game is at stake let people have their say right or wrong let them be heard. That is what this is about.
Yes but people haven’t even tried it. The simple fact is no one besides Anet knows how it’s going to work exactly, at this point. People only have very inaccurate assumption to base their complaints on right now.
You are right, no other game has introduced a new tier of gear with greater stats before.
How long has Ascended armor been in the works?
Just a week? The past month? Maybe the past three plus months?
What does that tell us about ANet and their willingness to mislead the player base about the lack of a gear treadmill?
I wish we had a trench coat option for medium armor.
I won’t play another endless gear grind so I can grind out more gear just so I can prepare for the next gear grind.
as much as I would like the appearance system to change it won’t.
As much as I love LOTRs appearance system, GW2 is not set up for layering or the ability to turn on or off any article of clothing.
Maybe in 3-4 years we may see a change in how GW2s appearance system works, but by then a new game will be out and no one will care.
so does that mean I have to grind multiple of the same armor if I want to retain my look for specific dungeons?
This is about where I check out on games. Tired of the never ending gear grind.

ANet has stated they want to look into how expensive legendaries are, this may just be a change in how they are obtained etc. People are speculating on the changes and trying to unload what they have.
Hold onto it, price may go up it may go down, but if you bought it to use, then you aren’t really losing anything.
imagine the items they can sell on the BLC. Fishing outfits which give you a bonus to fishing, fishing poles of different makes, lures, etc.
They may make a lot of money selling fishing related items on their cash shop.
No it would destroy our community…
lol yeah I would love fishing. I miss it from UO, EQ, and WoW. Just something to do when there is nothing you really want to invest a lot of time in.
I’m tempted now to reactivate my WoW account just to fish!
posting early does not really help the community.
All the community can do it complain about the changes before they are implemented which helps no one.
to much work just to preview an item in the tp. The devs should had implemented it in the first place. No clue on why they would not add that in automaticly.

i would like to hear an official statement concerning the pricing decision for tier 3 culturals. the human heavy armor is indeed a pretty set but as so many posters have already stated, the price does not reflect the quality of the item.
again, it would be nice to receive some type of official response explain why those choices were made.
Developers do not care about this issue. They have real issues like developing new content, trying to combat gold farmers, etc.
just wait a few months. ANet is bound to release some decent armor and weapon skins on their cash shop. It is the only way they are making money, so delaying the process of allowing players to buy attractive skins so ANet can earn money would not make sense.
how much would you guys pay to unlock all your dyes per character and per account?
I see the dyes on the cash shop as a gamble so will never bother buying them, but I would probably pay 25 dollars per character unlock and 100 dollars per account.
because they have enough issues with people using stolen credit cards to buy accounts, imagine if they allowed people to buy gems and sell them to other players.
Gold farming companies would buy massive amounts of gems with stolen credit cards (or legit players would reverse the charges) and sell the gems to other players.
What happens is the charges are disputed and reserved then ANet is paying reverse charges and now our economy has massive amounts of gems flooding it.
The price does not bother me, it’s the fact that precursors are just random luck, nothing epic about luck.
My coach always told me to make the effort even if you arrive late.
That was my little league coach and he spoke the truth.
Even if you were to arrive after the fight was over, that’s the best scenario, worse scenario is that one of the guys lagged and died and you would then have to pick up the slack.
Would you still waste the groups time by laying there dead as the guy that just got killed ran back? Make the effort every time, not for you but for your team.
I know about the rendering bug, it takes a few seconds out of stealth to render the thief, but can you tab select him even if you can not see him during this delay?
I played another game where you can transmute whatever gear and weapon to the skin you like. In that game warrior was the worst class out of all but in highest level area, you can find the place is flooded with WARRIORS… until you see their spells and they are actually MAGES…
So no, don’t like this idea, if a cha looks like a warrior, they should be a warrior.
You know what is more game breaking for me? Knowing one Trench Coat designer made all the medium armor in the world.
Here is a simple fact, ANet will make money if they sell these special transmute stones only on their cash shop. No one will quit over this no matter how they say they will.
The money ANet in turn will make additional game development possible.

I have a few saved and will keep them for when I run out of money (probably never) or have max level gear and repairs will cost a lot.
I have enough bank inventory space, but won’t carry them in my backpack.
The only way to prevent people from buying illegal gold is to punish those that do and make it known to the rest of the players.
ANet could also start up a reward program for those that buy directly from them (gems that is) to add more value and try and compete with the gold sellers (which offer 4 times the current conversion value).
How would they make it known? Line up the heads of characters on pikes around Lions Arch? They have already stated the number of accounts they have banned due to gold selling/buying and that has shown little to no effect.
The reality of it being is that threats do not work. The drug war has plenty of threats and guess what? Use has gone up.
They can threaten and they can cajole, but the reality of it is that when a person doesn’t see direct damage due their action when they are doing it then they don’t perceive it as a crime or as a problem. Hence gold buying to the buyer typically seems innocuous. Again I am not defending gold buyers and gold sellers. I don’t care if they are gaining it in legitimate or illegitimate manners. I would simply like to remove much of the carrot for both the buyer and the seller.
Arenanet obviously did not want stockpiles of gold to be in the game which then makes gold pointless. It is why they put sooooo many gold sinks into the game. Precursors quickly make gold aquisition a high desire. Look at what was intended to be a long term goal: Cultural Tier 3 armor and that ENTIRE set is a fraction of the cost of a legendary precursor. How can the game have economic balance with those forces on the TP?

I’m looking forwards to saving up for the T3 cultural set. It’s one of my personal goals in the game, and to have the cost cut would actually make me sad as it would bring that goal much closer to me, but not through my own choice.
If Joe Bloggs next to me has the same T3 set but bought it through RMT then, hey, that’s fine. I’m not concerned about how Mr.Bloggs looks, i’m only concerned with how I look and the fact it took hours upon hours to get that set.
Aesthetics are subjective anyway – Personally I think the T3 norn armour is worth every penny. Some may disagree and they are welcome to that, but there are many cheaper sets out there that may appeal to their own aethetics.
Please leave the Cultural armour prices as they are. It’s something to work towards and the sense of accomplishment should not be forcibly diminished. And yes I work fulltime so i’m hoping it will take a good long while.
I feel the same way about the T3 Norn Female heavy set. I love it, if I stick around with my Norn I’ll buy it later.
Sadly my first 80 was Sylvari engineer and none the sylvari T3 armor doesn’t really seem worth the price.
Everyone finds something to cry about… It’s called Capitalism and a Free Market, at least it exists somewhere.
I tend to blame those that want a participation trophy for not winning.
They either learn the market and know where to set the price or they set the price too high and someone undercuts them AND places 100 of that item so they won’t sell.
If that happens they can either sit there crying about getting their trophy, or cancel the auction and undercut.

the blade is actually a special effect. Right now special effects do not show up when previewing an item, but once you actually equip it the blade will show up.
I know wlmart has them.What are gem card for.Sorry i new to this game.

I find the price only worth it if you enjoy the look.
Since that is subjective (and my main is Sylvari) I do not find the price worth the armor.
My guild uses mail to send gold a lot, actually. We’ve purchased a few commander books so far.
It’s not secure to put it in the guild bank, cuz any member can take it out.
I really think you’ve said everything that should convince you ANet doesn’t care to combat the buyers. If it’s true that players don’t transfer money by mail, why wouldn’t/don’t they monitor that, identify the buyers and ban them? They are frying different fish.
It maybe true that ANet does not even care about banning accounts that purchase gold. I have not seen anyone complaining on the unofficial forums about being banned for such an action.
If that is true than ANet has no reason to change the way things currently work.
