Even if the mounts only offered a 15% increase (some classes don’t need them, a thief can have a default 25% increase), a few of the classes sorely need a way to travel faster.
My mesmer can only get short bursts of speed increase, not really enough to switch all her weapons and skills around just to use.
As for a money maker, Blizzard made what, 2 million in about 4 hours of the release of their Celestial Steed?
Don’t just think of it as a way of making players happy, think of it as a money maker, think of all the special mounts you can make for your cash shop!

I have never had a key drop off a mob or world chest.
I have had a couple of keys come out of the black lion chest, and gotten them from map completes. I wish I could get at least 1 key every map complete.
Illgot – could that be because they want you to buy gems?
Guess what? Just because there is no sub cost doesn’t mean that the servers don’t require electricity, bandwidth, maintenance, updates, hosting, etc. It doesn’t mean the developers & support staff don’t need to be paid.
They have ongoing costs, they want to encourage us to buy gems.
And if they are doing it in a way which is selling convenience instead of power, then they have my full support.
I support a cash shop, I think it more profitable for the company than subscriptions. I am explaining how valuable an item like a permanent merchant and trade post is to people that keep saying those items offer nothing more but “convenience” and not worth trying to get.
I bought a second account just so I could buy items off the TP and mail them to my main characters. Basically I have a whole account that just handles the TP for me.
If I had the option I would spend 200 dollars just to buy the permanent TP. The permanent merchant would have to give me access to top tier kits and resource supplies to make me interested.
which sucks because people are buying gold off the gold sellers and converting those into gems which screws legit players.
That convenience is the difference of wasting money and time, both of which anyone with a real job values.
I would chose a server that is full.
Population will drop and you don’t want to end up on a server that is always in last place.
I watched the first few but then just skipped them all after that.
You don’t need to have a permanent banker to avoid running back to cities all the time, just two accounts…
2 accounts with characters you play.
I do not know if there is a certain goal you need to reach before mail/guild bank becomes unlimited, but you can not mail and use the guild bank unless you level characters on both accounts.
What do you win by having access to the TP without a few seconds of waypointing?
not having to leave the dungeon/story to pick up an item you just bought.

Actually the conjure skills spawn two weapons each and you equip one automatically.
yeah, which is why I’m one of these jerks on my mesmer gladly taking any weapon with decent AOE skills
How does an elementalist not know one spawns in their hands?
ok so when I get these… do not open them until maybe there is a bug fix
Sounds like a bug or cruel joke.
im not ashamed of my play hours i love this game
thats my 3rd lvl 80 and im still craft ignorant, i just love the combat and live off the land.
kudos OP for a great contest and good luck everyone.
no fair using your “assets” to help you stand out!
please ignore all the reposts, I was having issues getting my reply sent due to the forum bug, and now I can not delete the extra posts because the option to edit is not available.
BTW, OP, thanks for the contest .
It would fix the buy orders that are under the vendor price at least.
no one can fill those buy orders and no one can post buy orders below the +1c vender price.
What’s the issue with them existing if they have no effect on the market?
just lost about 15-30 items on the TP and what ever I had in sales.
When I got back home tonight all my sales were missing and no money.
Even if we had to use a transmute every time, it would be better to have a database to keep all the skins we have equipped.
we do not really need 10 threads on the same subject on the first page.
we also do not need meaningless rants.
Although I like what SWTOR does on their forums, they just lock the threads and link them to an already existing thread on the same subject.
someone posted they bought 40 slots (the guy that bought all the BL keys when they changed the chest drops).
Not sure if he stated you could buy more or not.
I know bots in WoW and Aion would buy up specific items and automatically repost them at a higher price driving up the price.
Basically what players do but automated 24/7
would Mesmers be over powered if illusions persisted until out of combat?
in Mesmer

The only time dying with the target is an irritation is:
1) If the target dies within 1-2 seconds after summon (or worse, DURING summon)
2) For Zerker, if for some reason everyone decided to focus down the one mob in the pack that you used as a centerpoint for the AoE.What I would suggest as an alternative would be that the Illusion stays up for X seconds OR the target dies, whichever is longer. Don’t make it long, maybe 5-6 seconds, and it should be fine.
I like your idea for phantasms, last 5 seconds even if target dies immediately (which happens much too often in zergs).
And my idea for clones is only while you are in combat. Once you are out of combat all clones would vanish. This way there is no Mesmer walking around with 3 clones out confusing noobs (not that it is hard to pick out the real Mesmer).
try Starry Night with Midnight Ice
It’s what I use along with gold and looks awesome.
That would just ruin the community, you know, the great community we have in game… high levels just spaming low level zones that they only want other high levels to join their dungeon runs… and refusing to even answer questions from new people…
My LFG tool is logging onto my lowbie trade post alt, spaming LFG in /map chat while posting and buying items on the trade post, all the while trolling with the other people about what ever random topic people off their ritalin talk about, getting an invite an hour later, then logging on to my main I have parked in that dungeons zone.
I would love an LFG tool. But hey, not having one builds more of a community right?

I agree. When the TP was new and I made 20 gold my first week of it opening to the public I would have laughed.
Now that the profit for buying and selling has equalized… yeah, it’s a bit too expensive. Really, cultural armor should be the first armor a person obtains and transmutes, then they can replace that with dungeon bought gear.
I think it is a little backwards to expect players to first deck themselves out in dungeon gear then move to their races cultural gear.
As for restricting the armor so it “means” something, that is what we have Legendaries for.
It’s kind of an issue with my Thief and Mesmer.
My thief because I can’t tell what is going on, if the boss is attacking or if there is a red circle near all the player created spell effects.
My mesmer because I at times can not target the correct mobs and cast aim ground specific targeting spells reliably.
I partially blame the massive amount of effects and the other part goes to the inability to zoom out more and actually see my targets location through all the spell effects.
I never had this issue in WoW, maybe because I could zoom out more and see above my target and all the effects.

Low chance RNG for precursors needs to go.
it’s really no different than a raid boss having an extremely low drop rate for a crafting material.
delete all the old mail in your box. You are only allowed to have 10 player/store sent mails. Anything after that and you have a back log of mail waiting for you.
I had this issue, deleted all the gold selling spam and mail from other people and my items showed up.
ANet mail really should not count towards the 10 mail limit.
a thief can spam that one attack back to back because they do not work on skill timers.
a thief can increase their attack speed and get off 2 pistol whips in a row.
yes but the only issue with the LoTR system is that they don’t charge you to change your appearance.
True, for the players the system is the best I have seen for customization (they do not even have limitations based Light/Medium/Heavy) but for making money it lack…
oh wait, they could have mirrored LoTRs system but required a transmute stone to place items in the appearance slot.
I am not 100% sure why ANet went with the current appearance system. It is not original, I’ve seen it in other FTP games, it is more limiting, and very irritating that social clothing actually looks better than a lot of the gear in this game to me.

2 80s, a few 15-30 and one 42, never gotten a single one to drop.
But that is the type of luck I have which is why I won’t ever buy those keys off the gemstore.
the ones I see people linking… I know we are missing the effects but wow, they look over the top.
I’m lucky, I like simple designs with slight effects, not light sabers.
One thing I agree with, WoW does have a much better FOV, the camera in this game makes me feel like I’m stuck on my characters shoulder
I have only gotten keys to drop when I complete maps, and that is rarely. I’ve never actually found a key off a mob or chest located in game.
PvE, lets just hope you are not on one of the busy servers or you will never get any loot from level 80 DE.
Luckly I have 2 other 80s I use for DEs
Midnight Ice is the best looking black in game. I use it on all my characters, cloth to heavy.
I prefer the LOTR system as well but max stat gear is pretty easy to get in this game so I’m not too concerned.
As with real life financial speculation, people will start up rumors to try and control the market.
I have no issue with people undercutting me 1 copper.
They undercut me, I cancel my auction and undercut them back.
Or if it is not worth canceling, I just wait until later that night when I know my item will sell due to knowing the general market value of the item and being patient.
It is not ANets responsibility to protect people from blindly following advice posted on another web site. It is also not ANets responsibility to ban or punish players that try and control the market by posting misleading information on a web site other than the official Guild Wars 2 web site.
The only person you can hold responsible is yourself for not doing research before jumping in game and spending all your money to use a recipe that does not work.
Has society reached a point where “personal responsibility” has become meaningless?
(edited by illgot.1056)
it preps a proc.
5% when you are hit then it goes off when you land a hit after.
thanks for the heads up.
I don’t check my e-mail and I don’t use facebook, twitter, or what ever else is out now.
I check the news section of the official web sites for the games I play. If the news is not there it does not exist to me.
Try it as a Mesmer. They actually need time to build up clones and phantasm and the instant their target dies so do all their clones and phantasms.
Also they need targets to cast many of their spells. So far I only know of one AOE spell that does not require a target and it is short duraction and 30 second cool down.
Yuck how can anyone play a game with those huge black borders?
It’s like watching a movie letterbox. Sure, you have black borders at the top and bottom, but you are actually seeing more of the movie than the full screen TV versions.
I never duel but it would be a nice feature so people can practice defensive moves.
@VendettaDFA
Gold companies have already done this. One company did this in SWTOR, I got money mailed to my characters twice, my account was banned then restored a few days later once the devs caught on to what was happening. They had to end the practice of blindly banning accounts that were sent money.
or have 1 widescreen, window mode, adjust window so it is much wider than higher.
That is what I do and have better zoom out than him.
What do you all think should be done?
Ban accounts that purchase gold.
But in other games I have been sent large amounts of money by mistake and just taken it. If gold sellers start sending gold out to random players, banning account would have to immediately stop.
(edited by illgot.1056)
Buy gold from gold sellers or use earlier exploits which never got you banned.
If you had a leg up from either of those or had access to the TP the first week or so before it opened for everyone, you could easily have made hundreds manipulating the market.
