Will the halloween skin prices rise?

Everyone thinks the greatsaw greatsword skin is awesome, they will still think that after halloween.

Same with the scythe. What you need to worry about is will christmas bring in better skins or will nice skins be put on the BLT.

I bought a few skins while people were trying to dump them because of the mad king chest being patched in, I doubted they would increase the drop rate. I was right and got a 2 scythe and 1 greatsaw for about 35 gold.

ok, so let me get this right.
On the other hand, nowhere in any official response did they say that the skins were guaranteed or that there was a high chance of getting them. The argument relies on the semantic assumption of what “chance” means to you, and that is actually a vague enough term to make you cautious of any assumptions. Some people consider 1/100 a low chance, and some consider it a moderate or high chance depending on the context, but you cannot say that default assumption is that it is a high or low chance.

One can safely assume that you will spend $5 – $10 on a virtual item in an MMO. That is pretty standard. However, when a person spends $100 on keys, gets nothing and then effectively puts another $50 worth for a second chance (since the forge require two chests worth of stuff) and STILL gets nothing it has long past reasonable assumption. This is simply about how do you get people to pay ten to twenty times what they would consider reasonable for a virtual item (remember the outcry in EVE over the $70 cosmetic item?).

What has happened here is simple, it’s a fleecing to try and get more cash then people would reasonably spend. Mark my words, this second chance is only going to reinforce why people will not use the cash store in the future.

The person understood that the items were rare and chose to gamble. ANet did not force them.

I gambled once in another game, lost something like 50 dollars, did not get anything decent, never gambled again.

I will spend 50 dollars on a single in game item if I think it is worth it, but I won’t spend 1 dollar on a chance to win something.

Again, show me in the original patch notes or the store where this was listed as rare. It wasn’t. In fact, the store leads you to believe you will always get something Halloweeny. So, no, not everyone KNEW the chances were rare. Get the point here? Not only were the chances extremely rare, the materials presented to the average player were also very misleading.

show me where they stated it was a high chance or guaranteed drop.

Witch broom allows you to fly around on it, you can summon a cauldron for costumes, and it has the cat.

Mad King, not sure what he’s about, but his animations are kind of boring, just raising the staff, and his food fight table gets old fast. Candy Golem isn’t nearly as cut as the cat

I wish there was a locker for the costumes. I love both halloween costumes but won’t purchase because it’s pretty expensive for one character to use and sadly… not worth it to me as “social” clothing only.

Maybe if they had an option to “poof, change into my town clothes when not in combat” automatically or something, but I’m not going to switch outfits constantly just to enjoy what I bought.

I peaked at about 44g but blew a bunch of it prepping gear for my next 80 and impatience in maxing out one of her crafts, so I’m down to 24.

I’ve spent a decent amount getting 2 80’s fully exotic (gathered most but there’s some stuff you end up buying) and all 8 crafts up to 400.

I also have a serious dye addiction. Most of my gold has been flushed buy 20 undiscovered at a time and playing dye lotto. Finally kind of getting over this now that I have to scroll on my main just to see my 40+ rares dyes. :P

I bought all the exotic dyes and it only cost me about 10 gold (a few weeks ago).

@Kymbre sorry you missed women’s rights movement by about 150 years and the sexual revolution by about 50+ years. Do you even know what those movements were about? They were about choice, not forcing one view or policy on other people that did not share those views or policies.

Giving players the option to chose how they look isn’t stating that all women should be objectivied sexually no more than a man dressed like a barbarian and only wearing leather straps on his chest.

So by ‘look good’, you mean semi-nude and impractical? I think it should be a general rule in these games that if you want heavy or even medium armour you have to cover up. Anyone exposing skin gets increased vulnerability. Give people the option to look sexy at the expense of stats, and then facepalm when they whinge about it.

Yeah because 99% of the armor is heavy and bulky. Sorry if my tastes are impracticable in a game where we fight dragons and cast fireballs from our hands.

Fluff is all about how something appeals to a player and that is greatly subjective. What is not subjective is math.

I wanted to play a warrior but didn’t feel like shelling out 30 gold for my cultural just to look good and I refuse to stare at a character that looks like they are wearing something a LARPer would be embarrassed to wear. So instead I just haven’t bothered logging in at all.

IRL Money has weak buying power

it only has weak buying power going through ANet. If you go through a gold seller and convert your bought gold to gems, you get 3 to 3.5 times the gems.

Sadly this is why I stopped buying gems from ANet, not because I buy gold from gold sellers (which I do not) but because I realized how much they are charging for so little.

What does that mean? Of course you CAN give us this feature, but will you?

they won’t because they apparently still have a few bugs. How would you guys feel if you bought them, changed your character, then the next time you logged in all those changes were reverted?

ANet wants to get this out as soon as possible, they want the money they know is going to be thrown at them the moment recustomization is released… but they are also smart enough to know not to intentionally release a buggy item.

You know why I left World of Warcraft? I could not stand the look of my characters as I leveled.

There were posts reaching their limits on replies because people were begging Blizzard for some type of visual customization on gear, and for years Blizzard just ignored their players stating such customization would destroy their vision of the game.

Guess who pays for the game to exist, it is not the creator of the game, it is the players that spend money. Ignore the players desire on things which have NO impact on game balance because your “vision” is more important and eventually they will leave when something new comes along.

Who sets Gem prices?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: illgot.1056

illgot.1056

No, the reality is that it is supply and demand. You may be unhappy with the prices but plenty of others are not and so it shall keep rising. When people deem them too expensive then people will stop buying them and a stable price will be reached or it will go down. The reason it’s been steadily going up is simply because the game is new people are accumulating more money as time goes on and they can afford more.

That’s because players are buying gold from gold sellers and converting it to gems.

If I can spend 50 dollars on 200 gold from a gold site, then convert that to gems, I’m getting 4 times the amount of gems than if I buy directly from ANet. But ANet isn’t filtering out these illicit conversions, they are just using them to fuel their insane gold to gem prices.

elementarist vs mesmer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: illgot.1056

illgot.1056

Elemental is more AOE.

Mesmer is more single target.

I have little experience with the Elementalist, but the Mesmer is decent.

It can take a while to kill mobs because you have to get the clones spawned and Mesmers lack decent AOE skills compared to most classes in the game. Mesmers are also reliant on having a mob selected to attack unlike a lot of classes and are one of the slowest classes in the game movement wise (many classes have decent movement buffs but not the Mesmer).

If you want a good all around class, I would pick Engineer. My first level 80 character is an engineer and she is great. I player her mainly for end game.

Engineers are mainly a ranged AOE class. You have everything from point blank range (bombs) to short to medium range (flame thrower), medium to long range (pistols) and extreme long range (grenades and Mortars).

They also can summon turrets.

End game, when you are stuck farming mobs and trying to tag them before they die in 0.5 seconds of spawning, you will regret ever choosing a Mesmer and kick yourself for not playing a class that can AOE tag everything like an Engineer.

By the way, I only play Mesmer because they look cool. I’m not a fan of the Mesmer playstyle… I keep thinking it will get better but it hasn’t.

illgot.1056

aleiro please back that statement up with some evidence of any kind. I’m curious if this is true. Have you found posts about people who bought gold from gold sellers and, in turn, bought gems with it?

I would think that the pricing of gems is natural due to the ever increasing amount of gold in the game system. Once someone has bought all of their exotic gear what is there to spend gold on?

The cost of waypoints and armour repair do not eat away at the gold that my level 80 character makes in the course of playing. Without trying, one can make ~1g per hour after expenses at level 80. If someone really tries they can make 5g per hour.

Most people will be making around 1g – 2g per hour.

What do they do with this gold?

Well, some will do what I’ve done which is to buy gems cause I have nothing else to spend the gold on. I don’t want a legendary weapon.

As an aside, a lot of people who bought their legendary weapon now have gold freed up to spend on other stuff as well. What is there for them to spend the gold on in the game for? Basically, nothing, so why not buy up gems before the Halloween event in the hopes that some cool stuff will show up?

Gold sellers have negatively impacted players when it comes to gold to gem conversion.

Either by producing more money in game constantly or by selling to players which then convert their bought gold to gems, the formula ANet is using is only making it harder on legitimate players.

Do you honestly think the people that buy gold have not realized they can get 3-4 times the amount of gems versus buying from ANet directly?

I have never bought game currency from gold farming sites, but constantly seeing how cheap they are offering gold and how many more gems I can get is really starting to tempt me. I’ve spent 150 dollars on gems so far on ANets site. That’s only 12000 gems.

With that same money I could have gotten 36000 to 48000 gems.

so you are comparing a Greatsword to a Scepter… a Scepter which one person is trying to sell for more than the Precursor Scepter (current 99.99.99 vs the 135.00.00).

And you are trying to use this one person trying to sell this one item at an outlandish price compared precursor of another class…

This is what we call an outlier, we ignore these for a reason, because they are part of the insane randomness of life that do not support real information.

Lets compare precursor Greatsword to non-precursor Greatsword.

Mesmers need more than 0.5 seconds to prep their phantasms and skills for an attack.

Most of the Mesmer skills at least require a target before they can be used.

Why not have mobs spawn invulnerable for a couple seconds, make angry gestures or move to the staging point, then become vulnerable.

This would give Mesmers and all classes time to target and prep an attack. The current system of spawning mobs vulnerable is only benefiting the bots and front loaded target free AOE classes.
