Do you think endurance should regen faster when using melee weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

illgot.1056

No.
There are a multitude of abilities that when used act as a dodge (eg. rangers lightning reflexes), reduce incomming damage (eg. guardian stand your ground), block attacks (which means you take 0 damage) and other abilites that boost the regeneration rate of your energy (eg, lightning reflexes again).

There is also a substantial number of abilites that provide this that are AOE group boons (buffs).

Take a few minutes and READ what your skills do.

I agree here, but I would also love the option to tone down some of the special effects.

If there was an option to make special effects from spells or fire or poison look somewhat ghost like so I can see what is actually going on, that would help a lot.

Looking forward to a "Make-Over" Option For Re-Customizing Your Character's Look

ANet makes money by selling dyes. Why would they want to cut their profits by making them account wide? Why would you want to cut one their revenue resources? You do understand that the more money get make off GW2 the more development we receive?

Look on your TP, most dyes cost less than 1 silver, only a few cost more than 1 gold.

It is not hard to collect all the dyes. If you are expected to spend 30 gold per piece of order gear, spending about 10 gold to get all the dyes on each character will not be an issue once you figure out how to make money (I already have most of the major dyes on my main and she is only 67).

In an economy with 2 million participants, it is significantly harder for any gold seller to move the market and exploit it. Conspiracy theorist here fails to see that. Also, you don’t magically determine how much an item will sell for…they buyer does when there is competition (2million other people) and an excess of supply. The combined factor of too many gear drop, karma gears, too many people crafting, everyone able to loot a body, and multiply that by 2 million players in the same market is the reason most gears are worthless, crafted or drops. Changing the TP in anyway won’t change the fact that a trash item is a trash item.

Removing the price floor on TP would only means that price of gear might drop lower to a certain point than a vendor price. Only people wanting to clear their bag space on the field for whatever reason will do that and they have to decide how much are they willing to lose in profit from doing so. That opens up the opportunity for players near the TP to buy it up and sells it to vendor at a profit. Also, you don’t lose money selling drops…you just earn a reduced profit for posting at price floor.

All arguments asking to change the TP that I’ve seen stems from a lack of/misguided fundamental understanding on how an economy works.

my main reason for wanting to drop the floor -1 copper vender price is to encourage buyers to clear out the TP a bit and work as a money sink.

By allowing people to sell items at -1 copper below vender price and allowing another person to make +1 copper by buying and vendering that item, we are not generating additional money, and if the item sells we now created an addition 10% (of the items value) money sink.

Quite honestly, I’m not sure why the floor exists to begin with.

Would love to see (and would pay a lot) for multiple character sheets or specs.

This would be a whole new character sheet that you can switch to.

Switching to this new character sheet allows people to apply different armor, weapons, skills, and traits.

This way when I go into an instance and we need more support, I can click a tab and use my support character sheet, or if we need more DPS I can click on that tab and have all my DPS gear and specs.

I could easily pay 20 dollars per character per character sheet for this option.

Why are you salvaging anything? The only things worth salvaging are starter cloth armor because Jute Cloth still sells for more than the armor, everything else you can salvage is worth less than vendering the armor.

Why are you using waypoints if you are broke. I have over 15 gold on my characters and probably around 8 or 9 gold worth in investments and on the broker being sold. I very rarely use waypoints and actually make more money by gathering and killing random mobs.

Play the market. Sorry guy, but I play the game and spend maybe 5 minutes every hour or so posting items for sale and buying up more items, it doesn’t take “all day” to play the market, it takes a few minutes when ever you have the chance.

The economy is not bad, I find it easier to make more money in GW2 than ny other game when it first came out.

My SOLUTION is going the opposite way – allow BUYING from anywhere! Help the demand side instead of nerfing our ability to sell! I mean item delivery through mail without the need to pick up personally (just like it works for the gem store). It could also be an additional optional gold sink – let us click on items that wait for pickup -> mail to me (pay 10c, for example)

I like the idea but instead of just 10 copper make it 5% of the items base value or 10 copper. Gets more money out of the economy.

I am starting to think the people who do this are gold farmers who are trying to destroy the Economy …the bot is told to sell everything in the TP for 1 copper over vendor so no one else in the game has a chance to profit and the gold farmers think maybe that people will turn to them for this and in turn steal their accounts yada yada .
I would rather they would lower/remove the 10%cost of selling the item and make the list price go up a bit.
Also it may not be people are sending stuff to the TP from the field since you can relocate crafting mats to the consumables, add a salvage to that and you can keep going for a long time.

salvaging often nets in a complete loss in any profit once you get past the starter levels. Most mats sell for less than the items vender price or even TPing an item and later vendering it nets.

no, there are too many dyes being generated as is. Unless ANet wants to cut WAY back on the amount of dyes generated (which will mean all dyes will cost 50+ silver and rare 10+ gold), no.

Why? Because ANet only makes money when we purchase gems. Cut off one source of revenue, you lower or slow all future game development.

Most dyes cost 50 copper, the rares costing maybe 1 gold to 2-3 gold for Abyss. The current system is fine and will still saturate the market at this current rate.

illgot.1056

The current system of posting an item at the lowest price works for the buyer and seller (it gets the item transferred and money out of the economy). This is not why there are a billion items being sold at +1 copper of the vender price.

My suggestion:

*People use the TP as a way to store items out in the field to make room in their inventory. Players know there is a 5% posting fee and 10% tax if the item sells, but by doing so, the player still gains more money than if they deleted the item to make more room in their inventory.

Because there are probably 59374985679 of that item already on the TP for that +1 copper vender price, it rarely sells and instead the seller cancels the auction the next time they are near the TP and sells it to a vender for the items value. Only 5% of that items value is taken out of the economy.

If items could be posted on the TP for -1 copper vender price, this is how a more beneficial system would work.

Players is out in the field will still post items at the lowest price possible to make room in their inventory or just because they do not want to vender what they think could be a useful item to another player.

If the items are posted at -1 copper vender price, another player in town will always purchase that item and sell it to the vender for a +1 copper gain.

Allowing players to sell items at -1 copper vender price does a few things.

First, there is no actual +1 copper generated in the economy. Instead, that +1 copper gain the purchaser receives by vendering the item is what would originally go to the seller if they vendered said item in the current system. So, no extra money generated in the economy by doing this.

Second, by constantly selling items at -1 copper vender price, the economy is stimulated because an additional 10% of that items value is permanently deleted from the economy which totals 15%. Instead of posting items at a 5% loss and canceling the auction in town to vender the items themselves, we now have items constantly being sold which nets a 15% loss vs 5%. This helps the economy on every server.

Third, we no longer have the servers tracking 59374985679 of one item (multiplied thousands of times). Instead we have players constantly cleaning up the TP and stimulating the economy because constantly selling an item may increase an items perceived value (items can sell for more than vender price if players just get into the habit of buying and selling).

Forth, the economy has no negative effects by doing so and instead benefits in every possible way because this process will always take more money out of the economy than the current system of only allowing items to be sold at +1 copper vender price.

Allow players to sell items on the TP for -1 copper of the items value and everyone wins.*

Lets make it simple so this discussion ends.People who did not pass math class, or economics, if you put an item on the TP for 1c under vendor cost and factor in the 15% vig. You are LOSING money plain and simple end of discussion. Don not pass go do not collect 200 dollars. NUFF SAID. But continue to do so at your own ignorance by all means.

except they are not. If they are posting things on the TP because they are out in the field and their inventory is full, better they sell at a 5%-15% loss than delete the item to make room for more junk.

They are not losing money, they are just using the TP as an in the field vender to junk items.

Now as for an actual suggestion, I would love to see them lower the sale price to 1 cooper below vender price. That way people that want to sit there and buy up the junk can clear up the TP and make a little money doing so.

I’m sure doing so will help the servers vs having 157865848 of the same item at the same low vender price sitting on the TP.

Why allow someone to make 1 copper by purchasing it an item posted at 1 copper less than vender price? Because over all it will take more money out of the economy (10%). Posters are charged 5% by posting an item in the field, then another 10% when it sells. If those posters are forced to just cancel the auction when they get to town and vendering it themselves, only 5% of the items value is taken out of the economy. But if that item is bought by a new player who wants to make 1 copper, then an additional 10% of that items value is taken out of the economy.

ANet gains, every servers economy gains (by lowering the amount of money in the server), the seller gains, and new players looking to make cash gain. All this if they allow items to be posted on the TP for 1 copper less than vender price.

And yet, I can sell that item from anywhere, getting it out of my inventory, for a “15%” convenience fee. I don’t think I have a problem with that.

Or you could salvage and send to vault from anywhere and sell the mats for a real profit later. I believe that’s a “have your cake and eat it too” scenario.

Please explain that one to me. Right now I have a 50 copper 2 handed sword. I just salvaged it into 2 iron ore which sell for 6 copper each. OK Mr. math major tell me how 12 copper is > 50 copper?

it isn’t. I do not salvage anything but starter level cloth gear (level 1-20) because jute still sells well. Everything else is vendered if it doesn’t sell for a profit on the TP.

You don’t get paid till it sells.

Thank you Tanaquil.

I think that in this case what really needs to be pointed out to some of the TP bankers is that they aren’t making ANY money from listing junk on the TP, they are in fact losing money.

The listing fee is taken out of your wallet as soon as you post the item. If it never sells, you just lost that money. You could just as easily right-click destroy the item to clear up pack space and not lose any money. At least when you vendor the junk you get a little cash out of it, and if you really need the pack space, I would suggest salvage/depositing it – I think the demand for crafting materials will be around for a while yet.

I don’t think this hurts the economy at all though, they’re just hurting themselves in the long run. The things I see listed for 1c over vendor prices are usually listed in groups of 5k-10k. The fact that there are so many of them is why the price is low. But when I see something that there is only 5 of, they’re selling for 2-3x the vendor price (which is still low for a rare item like that imo, but it’s much better than 1c over vendor).

It will be interesting to see the economy in a few months.

Scenario: My inventory is full.

What is more profitable, deleting an item, or posting it on the TP at a 5% loss and reclaiming it in town when you can finally vender items?

I don’t get this. There are items nowhere near the “floor” right now, and they are typically the useful items. Go buy up all the sheeple’s ectoplasms and make profits if you are that market savvy.

1) it’s not a guarantee you will not be constantly undercut and you have to monitor your sales to make sure you do not fall too low on the selling list.

2) If I could act as a vender junker on the TP, that would be easy and guaranteed money for me without having to worry about under cutters.

TP needs higher "default price", better messaging.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: illgot.1056

illgot.1056

Two major problems with the TP as it stands today:

1) The default price when selling junk is entirely too low, and people just end up listing things for 1 copper more than the vendor price. There is no interesting economy there. There’s no undercutting, no buyouts, no manipulating the market, no price wars, absolutely nothing that would otherwise make an MMO economy interesting because it is an item that no one wants to buy. So they get put up at bargain basement prices.

The 15% tax? If someone wants to clear up inventory space immediately, they can simply put it on the market. People just starting the game are probably rolling with 8 slot bags max. They fill up pretty quick during dynamic events. If they don’t want to risk it not selling at all, they can put it up for cheaper than a vendor if they feel like it. The person who buys it can then run to a vendor to sell it and profit—but the kicker is that he did a teeny weeny bit of legwork in going to a vendor—and made a teeny weeny profit.

Why is everyone so concerned about items selling at 1c over the vendor price? No one wants them. If it was a higher price, no one would buy them. You wouldn’t make more money. It is simple supply and demand here…

I 100% agree with you.

Instead of deleting an item, I stick it on the broker for 1 copper more than the vender asks. Sure, I lose 15% , but I gain because I just opened up space in my backpack to carry more items I will vender once I hit town.

By deleting items in the field, I lose more money than if I were to put it on the TP for just 1 copper more than a vender asks.

Personally I do not have this issue, I sell constantly and have a huge inventory. But I can understand why people do this if they do not purchase inventory slots like I did.

Due to the diversity in range options, I would say the Engineer is superior in damage because you can chose which type of range you want at any time.

That having been said, I believe it has to do with blocking gold sellers from opening accounts and immediately going to work sending large amounts of gold through the mail. I read somewhere that it is a limit for the account for 30 days. So hopefully after 30 days you will be able to freely mail back and forth to your mule.

I can wait out the 30 days. I searched around and can’t figure out if it is based on achievements, time played, or level of characters, or if you build up access just by hours spent logged in.

There is too much loot being generated in game, and we can only use 1/3rd of the armor and maybe 1/4th of that has the right stats. So basically everyone is finding gear they do not need which floods the TP.

Why do people keep selling items so cheaply, even to the point where they make less than vendering the item? Because when they are out in the field it is much easier to sell it at the lowest possible price on the TP than run to a vender and junk items.

What really gets me is when a person sees an item for 10 silver for sale, then adds their item, but not at 9 silver and 99 copper, but really drops the price to 5 silver. Why do people, who post 20 of the same item, post it at 50% what the current market was asking? The only thing that will happen is the next person that tries to sell will be forced to go lower than them!

my bank is expanded about 5 slots and so is my main character.

Space is not the issue, it is finding an item on the TP and mailing it to my main character without having to leave the area I am currently at.

I can have 2 accounts active at the same time (PC & laptop) but it is useless without the ability to mail items.

I bought a second account just so I could mail items back and forth to my main characters when every I wanted. What I found is that my second account can not mail any items.

How is the limit determined and is there a goal I have to reach so I can unlock the ability to mail unlimited items back and forth.
