ive got balls of dragon…
Who are you calling bad?
And if it’s me —> then aren’t you verifying exactly what I just said when you state:
crowd around him, the whole party, ppl will automatically get out of the crystals and heal up due to AoE heals
?? …. please, clarify, and also be aware that this forum has a T.O.S…
(edited by ilr.9675)
Not sure how that guy came up with a specific MF% though.
At launch we had 100 guys in our guild all trying out different MF values in pretty much identical content reporting their results all together. That exact number by my estimates is a margin of error downgrade I use on pretty much everything involving RNG. (b/c floating point isn’t a “real number”, and the entire formula for it has been flawed from the start going all the way back to the 70’s because of how & where it defaults itself to and how it utilizes the cmos clock in a flawed way). …though there’s also the perception element.
Anet apparently won’t tell us if there’s “Streakbreaker” code going in either direction which leaves us with basically nothing to go off of here. ….well nothing that is but their most common drop %‘s from the first game which most things here look to be following the same pattern on. I think the “rares per hour” explanation is too simplistic to be what’s actually going on though. It doesn’t match the older patterns either. I tend to look at the market itself and how supply of mats & ectos and & Exos seems to still be in surprising abundance compared to the things that only power-gamers go for (precursors, lodes, etc…). So Before making any theories, look at the Macro level and also consider that Anet tends to misplace a lot of Decimals too…
I laughed b/c it’s true I guess :d
I agree that Killing mobs in open world or dungeons for drops is worthless…..but that is another issue all together….that has a lot to do with how magic find is currently in this game.
No it doesn’t actually. MF% over a certain threshold suffers DR worse than repeated killing of the same mobs does. The problem is that ‘trash mobs’ exist in the first place and that everything including some bosses are regarded as trash. IE: vanilla AI, giving no context to the story, and only offering a time sink or gimmick to be beaten, versus a real challenge. The ‘Taser Inquest’ along with undead Snipers in Path3 for instance is a challenge to every class, you can’t just put up a reflect wall and then go AFK against them. (but they also hit & stun way too hard to be used as an example in other dungeons).
In GW1 we didn’t always have DPS checks, sometimes we had Coordination checks where a Mob group wouldn’t die until all aspects of it were countered. Its meteor spamming mages locked down by Ints, it rangers/necro’s countered by condition removal, and its monks getting stunned & pressured by your melee. And if your team relied on some Nukers then you had to do something about their “Bot” Mesmers. It wasn’t a holy trinity then either b/c the only purpose of tanking was to ball everything up which was yet another design flaw they never actually fixed going into this game either. I’m not sure how they went from that, to even worse AI in this game… but it is what it is.
..
+1 to the OP’s idea of giving the biggest bonus to groups that “VANQUISH” a dungeon.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Go read jubskies guide and learn. My ranger does tons of damage so you’re doing it wrong.
you’re not very experience on this whole concept of ‘helping’, are you??
Are you even that experienced with Ranger? Do you have video? A Dungeon Master break-down on it? … during which years did you play it in GW1? Do you even know how to read instructions in order to hyperlink? Where’s your actual credentials on any of this??
You guys realize what this is doing to inflation, right?
…and that eventually Smith is going to crunch the numbers (if he hasn’t already…).
And before anyone says “ppl running dungeons is only a small % of the player base”…
…take the # COF spams on gw2lfg.com and multiply it by how many large guilds are out there, and then multiply that again by the hours in the day…
Yeah… y’all are just taunting the entire economy at this point.
…when things change, there better not be a single peep about it here like there was against all those D.E. changes in Orr… Everyone should know by now where this is heading
(edited by ilr.9675)
That’s nice and honest, but shows a real lack of experience…
How many hours did you have logged in GW1 again?? Eq is NOT the same thing.
It’s really only certain dungeons, and Story Modes especially that need to be addressed here. If you can’t find a COE, HOTW, or AC, then you’re not lookin in the right place. Story modes though?? These really shouldn’t require 4 other human players next to you. All you need is a distraction really while you do the parts that require actual thought. 4 AI heroes/mercenaries would stay alive well enough in those. ..or failing that, whichever AI automatically knows it doesn’t have aggro, is the one that rushes over and tries to get someone else back up. If ppl could Hero-Way through DOA in the last game, then even neophytes could scrape their way through the StoryModes in this game with some more AI allies.
(edited by ilr.9675)
yeah that too, now that they’re nerfing Pets for PvP, they better the hell give our melee attacks some stuff that synergizes a lot better right next to our pets like our builds in GW1. …“Oh, is that unkillable Rit boss permadazed now b/c i got a combo chain that’s broken in a GOOD way?? … yeah I think SO!” …man I miss the old bars…
My DPS and CC is Kiiiiitttten in this game… There’s no way in heck I’m bringing this overnerfed veterinarian into a COE or Arah unless it was on a Bet.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Here is one of those builts, damage delivery from a safe distance, courtesy of Eugene the Ranger.
oh jeezus, how does someone with over 3000 attk rating still kill stuff so slowly?
Hilarious video…especially with the vent comments
;
That way, you can know why ppl hate ranger and thief in their team.
for example, in AC p1 burrow part. those two class are basically useless.
Alright as bad as ranger is, that’s a pretty scrubby thing to say… mass-aggro the adds so the Guardian on Hodgs doesn’t get overwhelmed (especially any extra LT’s/Silvers) and Kite them like a bawz while droppin’ cripple spam on your way to the next burrow. Works like a charm and guess what “OMGdaBESTevar!!1!1Warriors” can’t do that… Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking it takes a lot to drop the burrows either now that their hitboxes aren’t bugged anymore…. AC’s way too easy now to be invoking any kind of class discrimination in it
I run my friggin white Raven in that part just for the shinz&grinz. It’s a joke now.
The real problem is most rangers don’t even realize they can do stuff like that.
Most “ranger players” don’t belong anywhere NEAR a dungeon :p
(edited by ilr.9675)
Ran it with some guildies who really weren’t sure what to do… And since our Vent was broken, things should have gone a lot worse but they didn’t. Overall it actually seems easier now. Especially with Scavenger’s leaps no longer being an inescapable buggy Death sentence to anyone without Stability. Spider boss seems rather buffed now but that’s a good thing too, keeps your group from investing too much time to find out if they can hack it or not. Think we had 2 puggers as well and they were really on the ball.
Maybe it’s just your Server??
The Suspears were the defenders of Elona, and that’s what they did when Palawa invaded. However, they failed, almost got wiped out. The remaining ones surrendered and joined Palawa’s army as a unit called the Mordant Crescent.
I don’t think any of them left or that they made another bases in another continents.
So ummm….
Assuming they were similar to the guys in Sahlahja…
Wouldn’t that mean they were just kept around as breeding stock to make more soon to be undead for Joko’s Army?? ….see this could even be the one kink in Zhaitan’s plans… Towards the end of that arc, he had to IMPORT his from the mainland. While Joko could still have some kind of Flesh-Farm still going complete with a massive fleet of Wurms to taxi them around in.
Good lord…
things get really weird really fast when you think about this game’s lore too deeply.
(edited by ilr.9675)
What about MAGNI THE BISON
<snip>
… and SpiritSpammer Ritualist is overpowered in 1vs1 anyway^^)
Shoot your whole argument in the foot anytime you have to make excuses for it though.
Did Shiro get soloed with Spirits? Nope… he BANISHED people to THEM instead.
And he still wasn’t the best even in recent history.
Though you may be getting closer when you mention Kanaxai… #1: he’s intended to be content that FOLLOWS Shiro and was actually a lot harder to beat before YMLAD. #2: for the Gold-Seller rates to real money conversion that one of his MINIS was worth, you could buy a newish Used CAR. (+2 years on blue book value of course…)
The basic situation isn’t going to change until we have other ways of getting Binding Agents too… Getting “Thread” & Plated Dowels from dungeon & JumpPuz chests in addition would also go a long ways (although very circuitously)
If it was just left up to buying them with Dungeon tokens, then all the stupid COF’ers would start demanding a way to exchange their Tokens for COE tokens, and then those of us will REAL skill who ran a bunch of Arahs would all be looking at nothing but Essences which A> NO ONE WANTS, B>Dropped from regular undead mobs all the time anyway, & C> aren’t used in ANY decent recipes or runes.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Ask this question again in the Crafters forum and brace for Glares.
Everything should be this cheap…. it makes dust cheaper too by keeping Ectos low.
…meanwhile… I just bought a Sup Sigil of the Night for 1g last night. …CHEAPER than a Sup Sigil of Force despite the fact it should be common knowledge by now that it’s technically always night time in dungeons/caves. And those “limited time only” offers came out …. 9 months ago?? So much for the theory for Seasonal rarities.
It probably only applies to cooking, and even there, it’s only on those stupid snowflakes right? I think Zaxares nailed the main issue here: The content in this game isn’t robust enough to be anything other than constant DPS-checks. They need to bring back Xinrae/Khanhei & AngelicProtection and only give it to Mobs, lol.
(edited by ilr.9675)
They didn’t take this from WoW.
Gw1’s PVE endgame was ALSO nothing but daily Nick scavenging, Zaishen Bounties, Title/skin chasing, & “playing the eonomy”
It’s simple… play a stable of Alts instead like the rest of us did.
If you hate grinding, then don’t grind.
When you grind & gear-chase… and do nothing else..
…all it does is reinforce Anet’s datamining metrics & ensures this lazy design cycle
(edited by ilr.9675)
I just wish all the normal spawns of mobs inside the Areas that Dynamic Events occurs, would STOP SPAWNING or be removed immediately when the Event starts there. Anyone who’s ever tried to Solo or Duo “Brassclaw Landing” knows exactly the levels of Rage caused by Anet’s lack of forethought in this mechanic…
OR
…if you kill the same mobs in the same Spawning point a a third or fourth time, they just STOP spawning there for a good 10 minutes or so. …It’d be so much more Immersive & may even balance the economy a bit
(edited by ilr.9675)
tail holes … cringes … if only ppl knew what they were invoking here.
I think if we can put the focus on more substantive things for a minute: Lets look at way the Armors actually “FIT” our fine feline friends here…. Not very bloody well. they’re not form-fitting. They kinda bloat out wider than they should or “float” above just like they do on some Norns which is also really annoying. They could use a LOT more Inverse Kinematics & PhsyX in these details if they just linked the level of “Form-Fitting” to your Model Detail settings in Graphics.
But yeah there’s also the issue of very little Variety which is ALSO a shape-issue and “Form” issue. I’m not gonna bother linking specific examples beyond: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charr_medium_armor ….the Masks obviously weren’t remodeled around the contours of the Muzzles and the Shoulder pieces just scale in all 3 XYZ axis all at the same time. And don’t even get me started on their Feet which is usually the most awesome looking part of any Beast-Hybrid race in most MMO’s that’s always key to defining a look for them. This is a real let down from one of the best Art Studios in the gaming business….
I’m just barely even competent on Maya/Max and even I could do a better job here WITHOUT MUDBOX if they made the raw files for these public…
(edited by ilr.9675)
Boom you spared 1/6 th of the farming.
But by then… (late September… AKA: Anet’s “later this summer”), their Drop Rates will all have been rebalanced by this stuff Colin’s finally let us in on. …which hopefully also comes with a HUGE nerf to COF, aka: Inflation CENTRAL
So yeah… like I said: anything over ~63% just plays straight into Anet’s D.R. game now :p
It’s funny how I knew this the first month of release and it’s come full circle once again. I guess I shoulda put it to more practical use by playing the TP more often so I’d have screenshots that more people would believe. …too bad I hate speculation with a burning hatred that will never be quenched.
In more practical application? I guess it just means ya only need ONE set of pure-kick*** gear now and only 2 Ascended trinkets with double MF% infusions?? ….that’s kind of a shame b/c I’m one of those ppl who just likes having 2 different sets of gear to look more ‘believable’ in the Environment I’m in or just for Themed/Aesthetics reasons in general. …there’s nothing more Immersion breaking than running into a chick in a bikini in Frostgorge (and NOT seeing really pointed nips… FIX your boob physics ANET!)
1. If You want make it faster, Use quickness You have.
2. I’m talking about high survi build’s which I play – You know, 3k armor etc (Yes and still talking about ranger – I have 3k+ armor on my ranger )
and we are talking just why name of topic is false sentence
Pre-Nerf: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Quickness&oldid=544360
…when it used to last 4 seconds + 3 from swap from Pet.
Do the math: 2×7=14 -vs-1.5×9=13.5 … :\
So we do less compressed rezzing in 9 seconds that used to only take 7…
They did all this b/c ppl were exploiting only for Stomps in sPvP.
No one at Anet’s stupid enough to say giving us more Quickness for rezzing in Dungeons would break dungeons (esp after THEY’RE the ones who are realeasing all this ridiculous “Ascended” power-creep we never needed in the first place). The problem I’m guessing is everyone at Anet’s also too lazy/busy with other crap we don’t need either, to make us viable Rezzers or atleast letting S&R do something more useful** than the stupid Rez-Sigs that none of the other classes run Either. (which also got nerfed for sPvP).
It’s GW1 all over again as usual with lack of skill splits screwing over certain classes while Power Creep just makes their competing classes into Gods in “Elite PvE”.
.
- **Something more useful: running in & Dragging the dead player about 30ft back from where they died “Lassie/Hollywood” style.
(edited by ilr.9675)
If I was going to bother with full trapping & surviv… I’d also have take full Skirmishing too.
…which would mean giving up way too much DPS+Versatility from Marksmanship line, or less damage from Pet… (which I guess won’t matter anyway soon once ANet nerfs the flippin pet in PvP and it carries over to PvE …). But I just wanna say this one thing: If anyone here don’t know how to line up arrows through the entire spawn of mobs by targeting the back one but still dodging, then I don’t wanna hear their opinions on which Passives give a couple %‘s more uptime. When stuff always dies before you do… you’re basically immortal. It’s the entire flaw with this game’s Ghetto-Trinity system and I think that fact’s been well covered here already :p
Sadly, There’s nothing the Traits do there that the Signets don’t do easier/better for most ppl.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Tried the new AC on mine last night… Found out I needed to change my weapons between most fights :\ …oh well, I was expecting a lot worse honestly. TBH… AC’s back to the state it was in during beta: even when everyone stacks, SpideyQueen +all its babies… is once again the toughest boss, lol…. (kinda wish we’d get MORE encounters like this actually, I really miss those massive pulls from FOW/DOA)
Umm…
Passed the Tzark Burrows DPS check with flying colors though I guess. (Exo Greatsword + a bird /w high phys/crits traiting) which made it so boring I doubt I’ll sign up for any more of them. …plus my Pet was USELESS in all 3 final boss fights there nomatter how much I tried to control it. (and I have PERRRFFFECT MICRRRROO SKEeEeEeLLLsss)
I guess the good news is, just about anything with multiple Crippling/Chilling AoE’s, which Ranger has lots of (and I guess thief should have?)… are really helpful in a couple niche speed runs when the rest of your party is Zerkers who * jussst couldn’t quiiiite stay far enough ahead of the mobs to stay alive on their own * (or Guardians who don’t think they ever need to dodge :p )
…
I’m not sure what we’re “missing” though when it comes to dungeons yet.
I mean we CAN use whirling D for the spidey babies right?
Maybe we just need more “+Crit to Party” group buff type Traits so we don’t have to keep swapping to Warhorn or so that when we do, they all stack together. ….I’unno. Need to try a COE & Arah next before I’ll know more. <— (last part is sarcasm BTW)
(edited by ilr.9675)
This games pet system is not very good, so if you’re looking for something comparable to WoW you probably won’t find it.
Let’s be totally honest here… This game’s Pet system isn’t even a shadow of it’s Former Self. Pets used to have LEVELS, and sub-varieties that you trained them specifically to receive while they leveled up. They also had much BETTER Utility. You could make one Daze a boss for 20 seconds, or Perma knockdown along with the Hammer & crazy Adren-team gain rates (something ELSE that Ranger is sorely missing right now and there was no reason for Anet not to let us keep BunnyWay in this game considering how much Chain KD the mobs are allowed to do now).
The other thing missing that I’ll admit GW1 didn’t have… is an Evolution system for getting a Support-pet. IE: It Ascends to a new form like the Norn Spirits or w/e fits in with the Canon best… And that form just grants you the buffs you need to make up for whatever it’s Corporeal form usually isn’t compensating you with. This would be a MUCH better alternative to: “stowing” <— which right now is only a downside with no possible appendable “skill-based” Updsides
I, for one, am glad there are no exclusive pets.
My Veteran White Raven would heartily disagree… but he’s too busy Soloing Aboms
(edited by ilr.9675)
This is the kinda crap Anet really needs to let us do in Dungeons all the time without sacrificing too much to get it.
Gotta know when to anticipate the Dodges forward by reading the “delay” of the projectiles coming from behind you … again, something that staying calm under mass aggro in GW1 running helped tons with. :\
Kinda wish he had a rear view mirror @ times like this, lol
Did you ever play a “Taxi” Assassin or Dervish in GW1? …or atleast a Running-Warrior?
IMO, Ranger is closer to those than Guardian ever will be for running…
My Guardian (atleast in Arah)‘s only real advantage in Running is being able to Drop a reflect wall while moving. That’s about it IMO. Stand your Ground doesn’t last as long as R.A.O. and having to stop to cycle Renew, just gives them more time to catch up. …. with Ranger though, if your pet’s traited 30% faster you can actually use it run ahead of you and take aggro first if you have “perfect micro skills” (or we could if Anet just gave us a stupid GoTo command that doesn’t require a Util slot, and actually worked EVERY time)
.
It could also just be a Team Synergy issue. IMO, there’s nothing in this game yet that a Guardian and Ranger working together shouldn’t be able to run past…. this includes that part in Path3 that you usually need to get behind the Golem for.
(edited by ilr.9675)
…I like the sound of that.
I didn’t start collecting the kitten things in GW1 till they started getting below 3plat…
Infact I never would have gotten the first 20 for HOM if they hadn’t.
2:1 ratio was about what I was seeing too :\ …not exactly groundshattering, but I suppose it will keep Crystalines from going above 15k again in the near future. I STILL think however that’s it’s imperative for them to re-evaluate their current T5—>T6 conversion of Incandescent though. …which currently requires 250, and only spits out ~15 Crystaline. ….that’s a HUGE LOSS in my opinion and just plain numerically reKitten’ed when you consider just how many Maintenance/Sharpening cons you could get out of those and then use directly for faster farming. (yet ANOTHER one of those gameplay things, I seriously doubt Smith takes into account).
later this summer
Adjust for Anet’s timezone (~one season too late) and this isn’t a problem…
Infact given the Supply increases during summer, it’s probably better to hold on a bit longer. And also figure in, probably the biggest change… will actually be a DECREASE in the drop rate of the overly common ones (like Icky Essences & Red Glowey Whatsits)
All I’m hearing in this this is… “WAAAAHHH, I don’t know what DIVERSIFIED INVESTMENTS means!!”… This is exactly what happens when you HedgeFund & specialize too much. You’d think ppl would have learned something from 2007 by now. :p
(edited by ilr.9675)
I know that MF only works on mobs.
What’s the problem with that??
My Ranger just got one complete set of exotics this week with 50% MF (about all you actually ever * need * on a farming alt since we noticed back in beta how MF% seemed to work AGAINST you at any point above 63% as if it had its own D.R. built in) …and STILL has more Toughness, Prec, Vit, and 5000+ more HP’s than my “dungeon master”-Guardian not even including how much additional damage the Pet can soak up. (or avoid entirely by pulling things my Guardian could never dream of pulling).
If someone tells you they’re sacrificing Survival for MF%…. they’re doing something wrong
And this doesn’t even begin to figure in those ridiculous Magenta “ascended” items that we NEVER NEEDED IN THE FIRST PLACE. (Rly, how much easier do ppl need a game to be?)
(edited by ilr.9675)
But lately I figured out that it is maybe a line of fire issue. Meaning that if there is an red circle behind you the projectile will hit you!
We had this figured out last Fall. It’s only limitation is it didn’t work with the “Homing” snot Bolts that sort of took a random path towards you and could still hit you in the Air while dodging. (waiting to get back into one of these to see if that’s changed or not). Infact when staying at range, it’s better to just be on the complete opposite side of the room if you’re the one he’s got the Homing-missile aggro for
- the other thing we figured out… he keeps Aggro on 2 different players at the same time alternating 2 different “2 shot” ranged attacks against both of them. Ideally you WANT to be the target for those if you’re the Guardian or Mesmer b/c other classes that run/dodge better are more suited for avoiding the Life Siphon.
I dunno about Soloable Dungeons, that would take TOO LONG for Anet to rebalance and rebuild.
They ought to just borrow John Stumme’s contribution to GW1:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mercenary_Hero
Granted…. that’d be a huge grind for new players, having to level up 5 alts all at once.
But it’s reaching the point in this game where there’s not a lot of other options :\
(and they couldn’t be any worse than the rest of the NPC’s in this game who all run straight into Melee and die instantly…)
(edited by ilr.9675)
nvm found it hall of monuments item QQ
lol
and I’d still be using it on my Ranger if I didn’t have all these Arah tokens to use up on an Undead Swather b/c (edit)I’m inadvertently RP’ing apparently(edit)…. (also b/c I never took WeaponSmithing, and am too cheap to just buy something else off the TP).
I’m still using the FDS skin though 1H’d…. mainly b/c I play in windowed mode which doesn’t let us turn up the flippin Gamma in Options ….you literally can’t see where you’re going in this game in so many places without it.
Edit: Oh crap, in posting this, I just realized that’s only a Major rune that came with it?
WTH Anet?? Is that a Bug or was someone on the Wiki just smoking banana peels?
Well there went part of my whole reason for getting it…. shoulda stuck with the much more modest and * believable * Fellblade skin >:P
{PPS:} If we ever get a way to turn up our Gamma, then yeah I’m gonna want a different 1H sword skin too and so far I haven’t found any I like Besides the oldschool forked blade. That Wolfborn one might work though and would fit my Ava’s background perfectly, thx for the tip Furajir
(edited by ilr.9675)
No they don’t do it better, because they have only 1500 range. Ranger can easily shoot at 1600-1700 and over 2k when he is on higher ground.
I’d only agree this was better if we had a more direct UI interface to aim more precisely without needing a target (and maybe even get a generous damage bonus when we DO hit something we didn’t have targeted).
Devs need to think outside the RPG box here if we’re ever going to find a niche here…
Is this like the only Class that I’ll just never see a Reason to unlock them for? (PVE)
Seriously, @80 fully geared, I actually * feel * stronger just splitting between Masters
WTH?
Well that was my next question…
How Viable would ranger actually be at getting dead people back up in combat?
Even with Quickness, it feels REALLY REALLY slow still for me. Is there any Trait/Gear specs that would make it viable or are we just plain doomed b/c most of the people that always die in our party, always died right in Melee Range to the boss (and no one else can pull the boss out that range?).Is it even possible to Taxi ourselves back “out of combat” in a fight to regain that triple Rezzing speed? I’m guessing it’s not? When anyone in our party is still in Combat, we can’t even switch skills now? (there goes my old Sure-fire tactic for beating Lupicus by switching skills between stage 2 & 3!!)
I can tell You because I once have been forced to this
1. Only rangers that have many many toughness can be viable in rezzing dead teammates.
2. Start rezzing from the guys that have some rez bar replenished (if no one have just start that one that seems to be most usefull
3. Distract Boss – that’s very important – Sometimes sacrifice Pet to stop boss for a phew second behind is very good option – Spirits also can be helpfull there (if you don’t have Spirit Unbound trait)
4. Don’t let boss hit you when You are rezzing – If boss comes – go to the next member trying to slow down boss in the middletime
unfortunatelly none of this advises can make it when You face AC bosses called “Ghost Eater” nor “Colussus Rumblus” and party get wiped with only You standing – that was possible before the patches that make them “killable by method” – Ghost Eater just will spam with deadly AoE and Colussus are making his AoE on the whole room – not only in ring at 1200 range of him
That was patronizing in just how no-duh basic those tips were, …and didn’t answer my actual questions about a gimmick build for faster/safer Rezzing. I’m guessing this is another case where a really well played Thief is just a lot better.
Learning the Sword, just makes you a better player in general.
There’s no reason not to unless you’re planning on quitting the game soon.
Its effectiveness is definitely up to debate … but that still FORCES you to learn proper peripheral Awareness and few things make you a better player than that.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Sleeping dragons “leak” the massive amounts of energy they previously consumed.
This was the number 1 lesson from the Asura in Eye of the North.
Other creatures … IE: the Asura, Seers, Vizier Khilbron, Titans, even the Gods themselves clearly derived their power from this constant magic source and repurposed it to their specialties. If that wasn’t the case, then there wouldn’t be any of this Linked god-statues & Shrines crud all throughout Orr. They’d just be isolated little territories that didn’t affect any other parts of the region. And they definitely wouldn’t still be enforcing environmental conditions that don’t match that dragon’s specialty (Fear, Necrotism, Toxins, etc).
More will probably be revealed about this if we ever get more details about that Krait Orb or a formal break down from the Priory on how the Searing Caldrons were infused…
(edited by ilr.9675)
Thoughts on The Pact’s future?
Yeah… its “future” needs to knock it the hell off with this constant “here’s someone you just met 5 minutes ago and oops, they’re dead or corrupted now … NVM but plz be sad over losing them anyway”… even though you could totally have saved them with enough skill if the mission mechanics wasn’t locked so tightly onto Rails.
Also… there needs to be a frikkin BANK in their base’s Future as well.
They got all this high tech crap but they don’t have a Bank for our sakes?
(edited by ilr.9675)
Going by the raw numbers of just how many people Avoid him …. Kohler :\
Though there’s some truth in Shiro’s mastery too considering that most of the time we always had to make him defeat himself with Spoil/Empathy unless there was an E/Mes charging money to Echo Storm it…
.
But going off of History-History for Raw power, even before the Guildwars & the super arcane magics were sealed away … It was probably one of the Forgotten. I mean these little guys had to first compete with Seers, Mursaat, and Giants. And then they were also the primary motivation + driving force that beat the Dragons the first time. We probably just never heard about ‘em b/c the Forgotten don’t make a big deal about names. If you’re really good, you don’t need to brag.
Now a guildy swore to me that wvw had better drops than pve – Didnt really believe him till he linked the wings and said he got 3 in one day. Now maybe it was a placebo effect but here i am with 2 sets to sell after the event.
It’s always been better… though they’re still PvE mobs that you have to fight (in WvW). I don’t know if drops from fighting other players has ever been better. (really hard to tell but kinda dumb on Anet’s part incentives wise)
Had maybe 40% MF% going when they popped for me…
no food buffs either, was mostly runes / jewelry.
…they’re also going to get really really cliche` really fast in LA if everyone starts wearing them. I know I won’t be…
Didn’t want the Hologram ones… got them anyway just doing Pact storyline in Orr… And even if hologram spawns had a higher chance, the longer amount of time it takes to beat them would kinda defeat the whole point of farming anyway.
I mean this is barely one week into this, it just started 3 days ago and TBH, my luck is usually pretty crummy nomatter the game but if I got them randomly dropped already then I bet most people will within 30 days or however long this will last.
Uncontested on NSP (shiv peaks) currently, not sure how long it will last.
time is 8:00, PST
EDIT
Contested again as of 9:30 PST. Sorry for anyone who missed it but I couldn’t kill the Lich champ alone or even interrupt his massive Life Tap (that’s kinda stupid that ppl only have 90 minutes to get in on these)

It’s totally fine. Just tested it. They still go down easy but the slightly longer fight allowed for another player to take part and get rewards. I like this change. Having said that I am a level 80 in full exotic gear.
No they don’t. Each one takes almost as long as a Veteran does. Infact I spawned them in the middle of a Jotun camp last night complete with a Jotun Veteran and they cleared the entire camp on their own. Meanwhile I can kill 6 or 7 Risen around levels ~70-80 in the time it takes to kill 2 Holos that spawn in the ~40 range. …funny enough too… I get a lot more Coffers killing regular level 70+ dragon minions/risen too and there’s an endless supply of those in most zones.
It really makes me wonder why I still see ANYONE standing around camping these Holos. If they’re just doing it for the Achievement like I still need, then it’s usually faster to run around the world finding ones that spawn near other mobs that you can get to “pitch in” on the DPS (while you walk away for a minute to mine the nearest Nodes) and then just finish everything off anyway with an AOE.
