Yeah, one thing that ANet commented on way back in GW1 was that voice acting is very expensive. The more actors you have the more expensive it must be.

While some may like it, I have to say I find the loading screen simply ugly. I fully understand art is a subjective thing but I’ve never been a big fan of modern art….

^This. For the most part, I have loved the loading screens and I am not a big fan of the watercolor stuff. This loading screen is just fugly IMO.

Many people in my Guild TS channel were asking what it was. After we told them it was supposed to be part of the wreckage. Some still said “Huh?” and others just commented on how terrible it was. I hate to say that about an artists work, but I just think this missed the mark.

Your response is exactly what my signature is referring to. The word “flawed” has a definition. It is a plain and simple fact that the programming in this game is not perfect. No one should expect the programming to be perfect. Again, any dev will tell you games are never perfect. They have flaws. They can always be improved. Calling this an opinion is just ludicrous. It has nothing to do with whether or not you are satisfied with the game. You can be satisfied with something that is imperfect. I’m satisfied with the game. I enjoy the jumping mechanics and aspect crystals. This is completely separate from the fact that they are imperfect.

Somewhere along the road over the last 10 or 20 years, society decided facts are opinions, and opinions are like votes, and everyone’s opinion is somehow equal, making facts irrelevant. It’s time to turn this around. “Blue is pretty” is an opinion. “Blue is a color” is a fact. There is a difference. “The jumping is fun” is an opinion. “The jumping is imperfect” is a fact. Again, there’s a difference.

Well, I guess I can use another word you would appreciate: exaggeration.

Saying society decided facts are opinions and and opinions are like votes is not only a gross exaggeration but is also not a fact. That is an opinion. It is your view of society. You seem to have fallen into just the opposite pond of society. Presenting opinions as facts. Also it seems that you cannot accept that people look at things differently than you. Not everyone is quite so literal as you seem to be. I am one of them. I look at things from many sides. I don’t split hairs over definitions of words. Particularly when even definitions can be interpreted in various ways.

Example: She sees a piece of pottery and thinks it is flawless. Every bubble, line and impression are exactly what makes the pottery perfect.

He sees the piece of pottery as flawed. It has bubbles in the finish, lines that make the pot not smooth, and there are impressions that mar the surface.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Which is it? Trash or treasure? Fact: Trash bad. Fact: Treasure good. It can’t be both if we are going by definitions.

I accept the aspects as they are. There is nothing wrong with them to me and not just because I am ‘satisfied’ with them. There is nothing wrong with them, in my eyes, as they are. If programmers want to change them then fine. I am good with that too. Not because I believe they are flawed or just because I am ‘satisfied’ with them.

The sun is hot. Snow is cold. Those are facts. Whether something is flawed or flawless is often left up for interpretation. That is also a fact.

Well, certainly not everyone agrees with you. I like jumping and have been looking forward to new jumping puzzles. I also like the aspects.

I don’t see either as flawed. That is purely your opinion.

Don’t give him the “opinion” credit. Let’s stop all this “agree to disagree” nonsense that has corrupted society. Someone is either right or wrong, and discussion is how we get to the bottom of it.

Are the aspects and jumping mechanics flawless? Well humans are never flawless, their creations are thus never flawless, and certainly any game developer will agree that games are never free of bugs or issues. So by extension, the jumping and aspects are not flawless. They could be better.

Do they work well enough, however? Yes. Once you understand their functionality and quirks, they work just fine. Anet could stand to improve them a bit, but this is not grounds for removing jumping puzzles from future content. It will be a sad and boring day in Tyria if Anet lowers the bar that much. They should continue to add flavor and unique mechanics to every release.

We are getting into hyperbole and subjective thought here. Flawless can also be seen as a subjective word. “What is perfect to one, is flawed to another.”

I agree with you that nothing man made is flawless, but using the word “flawed” to indicate that something is not working or bad when it clearly is not, is also a misnomer.

The aspects work generally just as they were designed to to. They aren’t ‘flawed’ in the sense that they were indicated to be in the post I replied to.

The point of the thread, is being forced to use jumping and aspects to progress in Living Story Season 2. It has gotten a little derailed by trolling.

I’m sorry, but I am concerned about all these accusations of trolling this thread. Some like Krall enjoy this content and think it is completely fine. When they defend their position you claim they are trolling. When you defend your position you are not? I have seen as many posts from you about hating it as from Krall for liking it. So I suppose someone needs to ask you to stop trolling as well.

As far as the issue of being “forced” to do something as part of the LS, that has happened with almost all releases. There will not be a content release that doesn’t challenge someone with something they find hard to do or makes it hard for them to play content.

There are personal story instances where completing them is much easier on a heavy class than light. Should I complain about being forced to play a heavy class? On the marionette many players who have one toon which might be a ranger, were often ridiculed and mocked out of the event because others perceived them to be bad for the event. Should they be forced to play another character?

There is a lot of jumping in this new zone, yes. It took me well over a year to get decent at jumping. I have many of the issues you do, but I kept practicing until I was able to do it decently. Not great, but good enough to get by.

This new area is beautiful and has challenges. Are challenges not part of the game? If I didn’t want a challenge, I would just watch television.

I will say it again, I love the aspects and the new way of handling a zone so that it is not like every other. Every release will have challenges. Anet will not please everyone, including me, every time. It isn’t trolling or ‘white knighting’ to defend something you enjoy any more than it would be for those people to call others haters and whiners because they don’t.

EDIT: @Elden Arnaas.4870. I see that you created another thread with the same theme as this one AFTER you commented on this one. I suggest that as far as trolling goes, it would seem we have a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

They gave 2 month notice that it would go away on July 1st, if they gave 1 extra week there would be people saying why did you only give 1 week. Because there are people traveling or abroad that have been gone for 2 months and 1 week. There is no good time to take it away, so what they do is give you a date when everything is going away if you are not able to make that time save the tokens and hope it comes back in the future.

^This. I don’t believe it is fair to ask them to extend something that we have known for a very long time would be taken away on a specific date.

I did my events in the Bazaar last night and cashed in my tokens. If I would have been gone last night I would have done it last weekend. It is our onus to meet obligations for deadlines given to us in game, not the company who makes them.

I doubt that because that would be a lot of work. We may see some small hints here and there but nothing major.

We should accept that they won’t go back to stuff like the mursaat, the underworld, etc… maybe they planned that for post-release but now we have the living story.

I don’t know why we couldn’t see any of that. They could all be part of the LS. White mantle are humans which are already skinned for the game. Mursaat could be easily implemented by just adapting the human or norn skins.

And the bloodstone is just a large environmental slab.

It wouldn’t be any more work than anything else to bring back into the game.

All the mursaat are dead. The seers are probably dead too.
One thing from GW1 I’d like to see are the vine bridges and traps.

Not necessarily. Only the known Mursaat were said to have been killed. If there are others out there in other places, we do not know about it.

From the wiki:

Since the Titans’ release, at least eight Mursaat are known to have survived, and seven of them have continued to lead the White Mantle until the end of the Krytan civil war. Although these seven are known to have been killed off, Lazarus’ fate, and if anymore Mursaat survived, is still unknown.

As long as the LS is sylvari centered there will not be gw1 lore in gw2. Simply because the sylvari where not in GW1. I honestly don’t expect to much of lore being fallowed through. Anet likes to leave things open ended it appears so we close the loopholes ourselves.

Who says it will be Sylvari centered?

Anet on a few occasions. It is why scarlet was first villain and Mordy is first dragon. Main Lore wireter is heavly bias to sylvari and mentions how she wishes to expend there lore through LW.

They are a race that don’t know their own identity kidnapped as a child.

I think that if they do it will be a side story. Plenty of people have stated there dislike of Sylvari leads in the guild wars story. Trehurn then scarlet met a very mixed reception, I for one found them very boring. Which has also lead me to have a strong dislike to the whole race. I really wish they where not part of the game. They should have used the Tengui.

Agreed. Also a guildmate just told me that there was a dev interview or livestream where they were indicating that there would be a lot of references to GW1 lore in LS2 and it would have impact on the story.

I’ll post it as soon as he finds it.

Sorry, but there is nothing to indicate from all the information that has been leaked that it will be another Sylvari based storyline. Even if Mordy is the dragon, it doesn’t mean that it is sylvari based. But I have looked around and searched my web off and nothing indicates this will be a sylvari based LS.

All things point to this being a zephyrite centered story. And many think it will involve the White Mantle. This is the first I have heard from anywhere that it is Sylvari based.

White Mantle are already in GW2, albeit only with a small role in one of the human personal story lines (the Unknown Parents option for anyone wondering).

EDIT: Actually, I guess if you count their ghosts, there’s some around the Aurora’s Remains area of Brisban Wildlands too, including the Demagogue.

Correct. I was simply stating that it would in fact, NOT be difficult to design White Mantle characters as they are humans. They would not have to come up with new skins like they would for something like hydra, vaettir, various mandragors, and wisps.

Except a build is indeed “good” if it is optimal/efficient for the content you are using it for and there are indeed “bad” builds dependant upon the content you are doing.

I’m not sure why you are seemingly white knighting so much here (I mean that with no offense intended), there are indeed “bad” builds for specific content and no amount of “but they might like it for RP” will change that fact.

I’m only “white knighting” because not everyone that reads the forums agrees with your opinions of what is good or bad or “correct play”. I would probably agree with you on what builds we would use in different situations. Not everyone would. I have friends that use builds and equipment that I would not use for myself. I don’t think any of them or many others reading this thread would like you telling them their builds are not good. If their builds are good for them, who are you to tell them differently? It’s called sensitivity not “white knighting”.

I hardly doubt that ANet’s motivation was: “Oh look, let’s make these organized groups deal a load of people throwing a spanner in the works, that will teach them!” More like, “Here is the content. Let’s see as a whole how they pull it off.”

It is pulled off by carrying people and/or by quite often trying to kick/boot or otherwise remove them from the map all the while causing grief.

I get the griefers who are just being jerks, but there are a lot of players that are either new to content or don’t really know what to do that run around doing the best they can. They have to learn somewhere. They are not griefers. Calling them not good or being jerks to them because they don’t play like you think they should is just wrong. Teach them how or let them learn. There are too many that want to learn how to do content and if they are not with experienced people, how are they to learn?

I have seen many people treated so poorly in the pavilion that they leave. They didn’t deserve that treatment. They aren’t griefers and they certainly don’t deserve to leave gameplay because they don’t stand up to someone’s criteria. Of course, there are griefers, but you make it sound like anyone who doesn’t meet your standards should be kicked too. Not good.

Great, lets make dungeons and fractals totally random as well then, so you have zero choice who you group with. I am all for having the option to elect to simply go and do the content with random people, but there should also be the option of doing “more challenging” content within the remit of a private instance with a premade.

Dungeons and Fractals are limited to 5 people. The pavilion has a scale of 15 to 20 times that. Hardly something you can party up for. Not only that, anyone seen as new or not up to standards which you seem to want would be excluded. Again, not good.

I’m also not advocating making all open world content instanced, far from it. Merely that the tiny fraction of it that is challenging be made available via an optional raid format. That way we can see increased difficulty and keep both aspects of the community happy.

Well keeping both sides of the community happy by doing that would not happen. You would have all the really hard core and experienced players sticking together and excluding anyone they deemed not worthy. Players that didn’t meet those standards would feel left out and picked on. How would this make everyone happy? The experienced players would be happy. Everyone else would be angry and rightfully so.

I truly think it is great if you want raids. Keep suggesting it. Maybe it will happen.

Even if something is a fact, not everyone here would agree on it in fairness. Instead of just saying “it’s your opinion” how about you explain why you think trying to shoehorn difficult content into an open world remit within a game which does little to nothing to promote “skilled” play is a good idea?

I believe I already did that. I said effectively that I find it challenging to get the optimal goal with the players that you have on hand. Good or not so. I think everyone should have the chance to play with more experienced players in order to learn. I also think it is good the way it is because elitist players can’t exclude people in large format challenges that do not live up to their standards.

The move to include “harder” open world content is relatively new to the game.

Yes it is. But it is still open world content.

I’d suggest it’s bad design because it is bad design, not because of my opinions on the matter. Trying to shoehorn content which requires organization into an arena in which it is prone to be spoiled is clearly pretty poor design, especially when no alternative private raid/instance is offered.

Whether a build is not very good or not has nothing to do with opinion when it comes to efficiency etc. That is not to say people using non meta builds are bad, far from it.

“It’s bad design because it is bad design” is like saying “I am right because I want to be right.” I don’t think it is bad design at all. So therefore, it is an opinion not a fact. I am sure many would agree with you, but I know plenty that would agree with me as well.

Also a build isn’t necessarily good because it is efficient. Many players choose skills that others may not simply because they enjoy what the skill does or because it fits in with their role playing, or it fits their personal play style. It doesn’t make their builds bad because they may not be as efficient as you would like them to be. To many going to a movie or playing an online game is not an efficient use of a person’s time, but then again, that is an opinion not a fact.

It’s not how the game is designed, you are right. That though does not mean that said design is not bad or that raid content should not be added. I doubt it will personally but there we go.

“Forcing” good players to work around “do what they wants” is not a good thing. “Oh look, let’s make these organized groups deal a load of people throwing a spanner in the works, that will teach them!” in some odd notion of testing them is a bit odd.

I hardly doubt that ANet’s motivation was: “Oh look, let’s make these organized groups deal a load of people throwing a spanner in the works, that will teach them!” More like, “Here is the content. Let’s see as a whole how they pull it off.”

And it isn’t odd having to deal with independent, odd, and difficult people. That is life in the real world and in open world content on any MMO.

And I get it. You want raid content. That does not mean that everyone wants or cares about it. I don’t care either way. Obviously, at least right now, neither does ANet. I’m content to deal with things the way they are until something changes, then I will deal with it the new way. It doesn’t mean I don’t think you should voice your wants and opinions, but I also do not consider it bad design because it isn’t set up the way you would like to have it.

I have never at any point said that people should not be able to do things “how they want”. I have simply stated that those people who want to organize should be able to group with like minded players and partake in the content in private raid/instances.

I’m all for bearbows and cleric wearing staff spamming guards running around in dungeons for example. Go for it I say, all power to them, as long as I am not forced to group with them when they do it. Now if larger scale pve content is going down the more challenging/organized route, then it needs to offer the same instanced/raid options as dungeons do.

Again, Open World Content. Personal Story, Fractals and Dungeons are not open world content. Everything else is. That is the way the game is designed. It is the environment which the game is intended to be played. The game isn’t, and in my opinion shouldn’t be, designed to be able to choose instances/raids whenever we want to. Defeats the open world concept.

Again, it’s bad design and again the idea that you “test” good players with bad design is an odd one.

And again, I will say it being a “bad design” is your opinion not a fact. If it were a fact, everyone would feel the same and not everyone does.

Also, who are and who are not “good players” is also an opinion. You are “forced” to play with those you consider not good because it is an open world concept. It was not a secret going into the game and has been that way for two years. After two years, I think everyone would get that by now.

Lastly, I don’t believe that they are “testing” anyone with bad design. Again, that may be the way you see it, but it is only another opinion.

It isn’t poor design. It’s designed so people can play any way they choose.

There also isn’t a way bosses should or shouldn’t be killed. Yes I have done the pavilion a lot. I also know the most effective ways to make sure gold is achieved the fastest way possible.

That being said, any player can choose to play however they like. I may not like the way he/she is going about it, but I have no right to tell that player how to play.

Your way, my way, or anyone else’s way of playing is subjective and personal. There is no right or wrong. And certainly you do not get to decide what is right for other people.

Except it is poor design because you often have some random running around like a loon mucking it up for people trying to organise, whilst hiding behind the “play how I wantz!” mantra.

Good design would see this kind of stuff in a raid/instanced format (or the very least offer that option as well) in which you can group with like minded players. Want to do it in an organised manner? Group with like minded people and run the content. Want to run about and “play how I want!!!!”, group with like minded players and run the content.

Moreover whacking stuff like this in the open world means Anet has to dumb it down as you have to take into account all kinds of player ability and organization levels as well as people running not very good builds. By adding content in the form of raids/instances more challenging/interesting larger scale content could be added as well as the usual faceroll fests.

Allow the option for people just to jump in a random map and go at it (like it is now) and add the option for organized groups to run their own, closed instance.

Again, it isn’t poor design because it isn’t how you think it should be. Also “not very good builds” is a matter of opinion.

I think raid/instanced content wouldn’t be bad, but it isn’t how this game is designed. I think it tells a lot about how good players are when they are forced to work around these “do what they want” players.

So you don’t like when players run around doing things their way or how they want? I know a couple of those types of players that think that all these “organized” ways of handling things are boring. They think the people that follow along in them are sheep.

So again, I say it isn’t bad design. It just is what it is. How a person deals with the design they have been given is a true test of good or bad.

The waypoint costs are really insignificant. We now have free armor repair and do not have to get new skins every time we want to change our looks. Yet still there is complaining about what costs there are.

I’m just wondering, very seriously, it seems as if some of you think that everything should be free. There should be no in-game charges at all. What is really left for us to have to pay for if waypoint charges are gone?

I would like to have what all players spend on waypoints in 24 hours in my bank please.
No sarcasm.

I concur. They are very significant to me. Of course, I don’t get a chest with 3 gold every day from a DE I might do, or cow I escort to town, so I don’t know what it’s like to have this excess of money.

Maybe the problem is waypoints being classified as people?

@Rouven: Who wouldn’t? The thing is, is that what we individually pay in that same 24 hours is nothing by comparison. So I guess, I don’t see your point. I would like to have a lot of things every player gets or pays for in 24 hours.

@notebene. There are easy ways to recoup that money. Just spending a short amount of time killing enemies and the look they drop should more than pay for any waypoint jumps. Also, we now do not have to pay for armor repair so that is more money in your pocket.

Also, if you don’t want to pay waypoint fees, you always have the option of running to your destinations.

The bottom line is that there are ways around the fees, that would make them insignificant, you just have to utilize them.

It’s not that there is resistance by “old gamers” as you put it. Its that a “daily” is intended to be once a day. What you’re asking for is basically just a repeatable quest with which you can grind easy AP. There are plenty of things to do in the game if you want AP.

They aren’t going to change dailies into a repeatable quest. As it is they put a max cap on the AP points you can accumulate from dailies because people felt “forced to grind” those tasks every day (the whole list) simply due to not being able to control their compulsions. They needed to have someone else hard cap it because they simply could not stop themselves.

^This. They want the game to be about more than the dailies. I am good with the cap. I’m nowhere near it, but I don’t grind on them either. I play the game and get many of my daily achievements just through normal game play. If I don’t finish the daily that way, I do just enough to finish my five.

(Is it 2 silver actually? I’ve never payed attention because of how insignificant it is)

If you round up to the nearest silver, yes. The playerbase will go bankrupt overnight.

Bankrupt? Seriously?

I think that post was heavy with sarcasm…….

I’m not sure about that. Considering his reply to what the person above said and his first post in this thread was:

I would assume so. Though, if the zephyr content and the return of Jade weapons (no one liked them the first time anet) I wouldn’t hold one’s breath for an event much different from last year’s.

That’s funny. Everyone in my guild loves the jade weapons and were excited about them being only 1 ticket.

Players stealing from guild bank

ANet will do nothing if you contact them. If they were able to take stuff out, it’s because their account had guild permissions to do so. Technically they did nothing wrong as they did what was allowed. ANet isn’t going to get into the morals of this as it’s impossible for them to tell without personally knowing the people involved.

I’ll second this. My guild also had this happen and ANet’s paraphrased response is that we are responsible for who we give access to the guild bank. The burden is upon us for guild issues not them.

They are right too. Why should they be responsible for what a horrible person does who we have chosen to associate ourselves with?

Item Prestige: Not being respected?

You want an easy answer ?

The LS items are incredible ugly.
Either you look like Spider Man characters or like a Viking hobo.

People just don’t show stuff that is considered ugly.
Especially in a fantasy world where you have the classic sword n’ board cliches.

If A-Net makes fantastic looking armors and weapons, or staffs people would proudly show what they archived.

Simple and plain

Well, if you say it is ugly, then it must be ugly for everyone. (insert sarcasm)

Even if you think their ugly, you didn’t answer the OP’s question. He asked why prestige is being ignored, not your Project Runway assessment of LS game character attire.

Just because they show a portal, doesn’t mean that there is a new permanent area with new content. Just pure speculation and wisful thinking by many.

I don’t think it is. Besides the link above that says that all the new LS content will be permanent. One of the most demanded and desired things in the CDI’s was new explorable maps.

Other devs have talked about “expansion sized content” coming as well. That says to me at least, that areas will be expanded as well. So, IMO, new maps.

I like the fact that LA wasn’t just miraculously rebuilt and that rebuilding over time seems to be the plan.

I think, even for a fantasy game, that it is unrealistic to not rebuild LA.

In our world people rally to rebuild when a city is destroyed. People from all over the globe step up to rebuild. That is just a normal way of any life. I think it is very good, and natural to rebuild LA from a societal point of view.

Also LA is such an integral and sentimental part of GW (1 or 2) and not rebuilding it would be tragic. Apart from Beetletun and Rata Sum, it is the only large functioning city left from GW1. I would hate to see LA stripped away too.

LS Season 2 Confirmed to be Perm Content

OMG! People were complaining constantly about wanting permanent content out of the LS, and when ANet says that the new LS content will be mostly permanent, these same compainers start nay saying before they even get the new stuff. Unbelievable.

Most people are mainly doubtful because Colin in fact said similar things for S1, just after the beginning when complains started rolling in and then again half way S1 (after more complains) but it did not happen. So now people are doubtful if it will happen. Sure some new maps will be thrown in but will the LS really become permanent? I do hope so (for as if they continue with the LS anyway) but we will see.

Well, since this is a whole new season, why don’t we give them a chance before we start griping? I understand what they said last year, but that is last year and a completely different story line. Some of the content from LS story has no reason to be permanent content. How could the marionette be permanent content? Some of the LS1 story I wouldn’t want as permanent content. I just say, lets see how things go with the new season before we start in with the hate.

You must be new to the internet :V

I know, right? +1 for you. Loved that comment. I guess the vitriol and fickleness of people just boggles my mind even though I shouldn’t be surprised when it happens.

I’m saving a link to this thread. In a couple of months when the game sinks from #10 to #25 and is selling for 1/4 of the price, I’ll pull it up again. That’s my only interest in GW2 at this point. To see how far it falls.

Did you actually quit because of this? Why not learn how to play the game instead? About time the community stepped up and quit the AFK press 1 and wait.

I quit a month ago over the traits. I have no desire to come back. The reason Anet broke the train was it hurt the gem store. They will break ANYTHING that hurts the gem store. My interest will be watching it fall into the abyss like RIFT.

How sad that you would wish failure upon a game that so many people enjoy even though you do not.

Good. Now maybe that zone will be more civil.

You can’t honestly expect 100% civility and maturity in an online game.

That is why I said “more civil” and not “completely civil”.

But the rudeness and immaturity on that map was beyond the pale in my experience.

No, it will probably be pretty dead now and all those L10 new players asking questions probably won’t get a response.

Maybe. But there wont be 100 people in there every minute swearing at and insulting those same L 10 new players for being “noobs” and turning them off to the game altogether.

I ran the train for my monthly and such for several months. Verbal abuse was rare and when it happened it was because of a few people purposely griefing the train. From all my time running the train I can say from my experience that new players in chat that asked questions got answers and often offers to help them with skill points and what not.

Now not so much. I’m rather surprised that people are supporting yet another nerf. Over the past year and a half or so several areas got nerfed and the forum was up in arms.

Your favorite farming area might be next…..

That has not been my experience. This has:

Indeed. The majority of the “responses” these L10 players were getting to their questions were:

“google it” – “alt+F4” – “noob”

And a slew of other troll “responses”. Yep, primarily from the people in the train.
These type of “responses” also drowned out the actual responses people like me were trying to give them to help them out.

I agree. I actually stopped trying to help for the same reason. Add to that, I was tired of seeing all the people be hateful. Complete downer.

As for farming, there are plenty of places to farm. Even plenty of trains still existing. I don’t have a favorite per say, but once in a while I’ll go to Frostgorge to join the train. Not often. Most of the time I just farm wherever I feel like going.

@Dusty Moon.4382. I feel your pain. I don’t think he/she is going to get that mounts/more speed skills at least in the foreseeable future are not going to happen, don’t fit the game, and are completely unnecessary.

I just had an argument with my office wall about this subject, and it accepts it better.

Mounts and extra speed boosts will not be added as it would be considered by many to be P2W feature and that is a slippery slope.

People want to kitten the game to make it easier, I want it harder.

^This. I don’t want the game to be easier either. I want challenge.

Another thing, who decides what is fast enough? One player says movement is too slow. If they speed it up there will be those that say it is too fast and too easy.

The bottom line is all this griping about mounts and faster movement is ridiculous. The toons move fast enough when just traveling as it is. If they really want to light speed things up, use waypoints. The point is to explore and discover. There are speed boosts available through runes and skills. If anyone thinks they need more than what is out there for speed through normal play (not stuff you can buy), then you really aren’t playing the game provided to you.

Heck, let’s just have a “god mode” so you don’t have to do anything you don’t want or don’t like or run as fast as you want or not adapt at all. (Insert heavy sarcasm)

Class balance is not class skill sameness. I don’t want classes to be the same. If they all have access to the same exact abilities, just with different names, why have different classes at all?

Also, I would pose to you that for everything you don’t like, there is another person who likes that same thing just fine.

I like exploring an area. I don’t want to rush through things just to get it done quickly. If everything is done really quickly, it isn’t much of a game IMO.

So I don’t want mounts. I don’t want non-combat movement skills. I don’t want classes to have access to all of the same skill abilities. It is what makes the game fun for me.

The game isn’t all about what makes it fun for individuals, it is what makes it fun as a whole. You can’t please everyone, and I am sure that mounts are not going to ever happen because of that. Well, that and the other factors people have mentioned above.
