On the flip side, can we have more light armor sets for male characters that are not basically a dress?
For both male and female characters, I would like to see more light armor that included just pants and not the long flowing coats/dresses that permeate most sets.
It’s April Fool’s Day. I’m sure there will at least be a gag.
LA was built around nautical design of human and charr to a lesser degree. It was all built from old ships from what I recall.
That time is past. I think they should rebuild. LA is a huge part of the GW franchise. It has a sentimental/nostalgic place for GW1 players. It served as the central hub for most everything for new players. I would love to see it get an overhaul that represents all of Tyria as many have mentioned above.
I think it would be awesome if LA was the central hub for players and each of the cities has something that keeps players drawn there as well.
I’ve spoken to a lot of ex players to find out what they think of all this feature pack noise and whether they would consider coming back to gw2.
The major questions which need answering with the correct answers are requirements for most of them returning, however interesting the feature patch may look.
A) Is there still a grind for the gear with the highest stats? (Ascended).
B) Do I still need to perform this grind for every alt?
C) Do I still need to perform this grind for every playstyle? (eg – grind for zerker, then grind for tanky, then grind for healing, then grind for conditions?)
For A I would say no. Grind is a matter of perspective.
For B&C I would say they don’t “need” to do anything. You can if you want to, but there is no need to do that for any toon.
Ascended gear is not a necessity for anything other than fractals. And there are enough easy ways to acquire ascended trinkets to satisfy that with no grind whatsoever.
I’ll add my ’don’t speak for me.’ I am certainly not in your ‘we’. I love these changes.
But isn’t it always true that when people don’t like something they try to make it sound as if they are in the majority? Especially on these forums. It always makes me laugh.
I absolutely hate the old architecture with all the ships conveniently fused into stones and hang in midair. It was just ugly and I sincerely hope if LA does get to be rebuild… it will look different and more aesthetically appealing. Maybe like the Havens, all stoney, or like Pact’s buildings that fuses the architectural strengths of all races.
Well, it being ugly is a matter of opinion. I thought the concept was cool and enjoyed the nautical bent.
Even with that said, I would like to see it be something new as well. I would like to see it a conglomeration of all the five main cultures and other influences like the orders. I think for it to be a city truly representative of all Tyria, it should look it.
la better stay as it is now forever.
You mean a zone with nothing in it and no reason to go there after you’ve seen it?
I think not.
I think all the prices are just fine. Just like any store, they can charge whatever they want and we have the option of buying it or not. The items are not overpriced because that is what they want for them.
It comes down to whether or not it is over priced for each individual.
When people aren’t buying an item, they will then decide if they are trying to sell the thing for too much cash or not.
They have repeatedly said this would not be the big balance patch.
As others have said, it would be stupid for us to retake LA and drive scarlet and her forces out if we were just going to leave it a ruin. Especially since it is a prime area for a city and a strategic/convenient port area. Why would any society want to lose a central hub like that.
That being said, I hope it is rebuilt over time and not just instantly full and repaired. I hope that happens over time like when the Lion Statue was rebuilt. Only with LA it is an entire city so it should take much longer.

Ignorance at its best.
These fights are horrible, boring and another zerglag fest.
ANET proves yet again that they do not listen to player feedback but keep putting out the same trash and presenting it as content.
Not to mention the bugs due to the forced release schedule dates.
I didn’t know that when someone doesn’t agree with you they are ignorant. Interesting. I also didn’t know that the fights are “horrible” and “boring” because you said so. Enlightening.
I actually see most people liking the new content. For these forums that says something. I find the fights fun and worth the effort. In no way do I see them as horrible.
I don’t have any problem with lag and it takes some coordination to do some of these events so, it is not a zergfest in my eyes.
I think this event is exactly what a lot of players were looking for.
Again, I have no issue with Ascended gear and don’t believe I have mentioned it as a problem, per se, anywhere. The title of the thread is “To ppl that asked for vertical progression”. I was addressing vertical progression. Many people are confused about the actual issue. It’s not Ascended gear, Ascended is just is stage 1 of VP and stage 2 of the power level of the game.
So, many people complain about Ascended gear because they don’t understand the actual issue. I agree with you; Ascended is here to stay. We should not be complaining about Ascended gear; we should be complaining about vertical progression—which is also here to stay unless they decide to remove it.
I’m not sure why you are debating this with me then. When I posted my original post it was to say to others (not you) that were bringing up ascended gear to move on. I agree with you. Debate it with the ones who do not. I don’t need an explanation of VP. I get it.
Jeez. These threads are broken records. First we had ascended trinkets/back items and then weapons and then armor. Ascended items have been around for a long time and are not going away. It doesn’t matter at this point what I or anyone else thinks about ascended items. They are here to stay. Get over it. Move on.
My problem is not with ascended items—at all. As far as I’m concerned they can stay forever. My problem is with vertical progression. That can stop at any time. And, it’s more likely to stop if players complain about it. That’s why you see these threads over and over and over.
I agree with you. Except, I don’t see anywhere other than ascended items, where they plan other vertical progression. And all of these threads revolve around the items. If you hate VP, then talk about possible VP that might happen.
Sure, I’d be glad to show you where the ‘other’ VP is. In the AMA Chris W said: “we will have vertical progression moving forward with the focus on zero grind and a very low power curve.” Vertical progression doesn’t progress by stopping. And a power curve is a positive relationship between time and power. As time progresses, the power level of the game increases. They said at the time that they had no immediate plans for an additional tier and would carry VP forward through infusions. So, VP is currently in the game—that’s the problem. And, it will be a problem until it’s removed.
I was asking for you to tell ME where other vertical progression in the game is. I can see it. I was just saying, that people get off the ascended items gripe train. It is a done deal. It is in game. If you want to complain about VP, then do it with things that are not implemented and here to stay. The ascended items threads are broken records.
Jeez. These threads are broken records. First we had ascended trinkets/back items and then weapons and then armor. Ascended items have been around for a long time and are not going away. I guess your fanboism is yours. My point was that this patch was literally about nothing. Hell, even the Queen Jubilee patch was about the same and had more content(which was basically zerg farm bellow the arenas). Destruction of an important lore point, for gold and greens…
It amuses me when people use “fan boy” or in your case “fanboism” because someone doesn’t agree with something they say. It hardly makes anyone a fan boy for pointing out something that you said was wrong. And you DID complain about class balances so you were open for criticism.
Savoy shouldn’t have been rude an calling your reading comprehension skills into question. He doesn’t know what you have read or have not.
But it is not just another zerg zone. There are plenty of things to do beside zerg.
For years I played a game made by a company in Europe. They’d drop their updates while I was asleep, or at work. I didn’t run onto their forums moaning about how they “hate north america” or whatever.
I liked your original post before it was “edited” by the moderator Qaelyn. +1 to you.
Ad hominem means “to the man”. That is, it addresses some aspect of the person arguing rather than the argument itself. For example it might dismiss someone by labeling them a ‘hater’ rather than addressing the issue they raise. It is resorted to when someone either runs out of intellectual gas or was never up to the task of rationally discussing an issue to begin with.
Actually, ad hominem, means several related things. In one case it means that an argument is rejected on the basis of irrelevant facts. The fact that the person you claimed was using mass ad hominem because he didn’t address what you claim is the actual argument does not make what he said an ad hominem. The OP asked said he came here for to ask questions from “the source” (meaning the forums). It isn’t an ad hominem because he chose to express his opinion on the OP’s motivation coming to the forum for his answers. The responder did address directly one of the OP’s statements.
Ad hominem also means to attack the character of the person he was addressing rather than address the issues of the OP. He did not attack the character of the OP. He expressed and opinion on one of the OP’s statements about the general bent of the posts on the forum due to a statement made by the OP.
Ad hominem also indicates that the person making the so-called ad hominem was appealing to prejudice rather than facts or intellect. This is also not true. It takes no great amount of investigation to see that all the forums are indeed riddled with negativity.
The person you addressed was stating an opinion based in fact directly addressing one of the OP’s statements. Not an ad hominem.
The device of inventing a ‘hate’ group is the same as inventing a “vocal minority”. It is intended to bolster one’s position and it actually indicates a basic insecurity with one’s argument. Logically, there is no “vocal minority” and no ‘hate groups’ on the forum. There are only voices and they are either in the minority or the majority. Anet moderation is very aggressive and addresses true ‘hate’ speech immediately.
No where does the person you address say that their is a “hate group” or “vocal minority” or make any indication of such. That is use of hyperbole on your part. The poster merely made an observation about the amount of hateful posts and lack of positive ones. He didn’t invent the “hate group”. You did.
It is far better to deal with arguments or issues rather than the character or motivations of those you argue with. The forums are for communication about the game between Anet and players. Attempting to negate or suppress speech negates the purpose for which the forums were created. Much better to simply discuss the game.
You are right. However, this is true only when arguments and issues are expressed in non-inflammatory and non-prejudicial ways. That clearly is not what happens on these forums in great extent.
As was said above, I have seen no difference in survivability between my exotic set of gear and my ascended gear in WvW. I can see that my weapon’s tick a bit more damage, but I would hardly say it gives me the edge.
In fact, I was one on one with my exotic gear against another person who had that ugly ascended gear skins and an ascended greatsword. I won. It is more than just the gear that gives you any edge.
And so I say as both a Wvw AND a PvE player. Ascended gear is completely optional. And if you feel it isn’t, then craft it. We all have that option. It isn’t as if you are blocked from getting any ascended armor or weapon.
(edited by Moderator)
I think it has more to do with the fact that less and less optimistic people uses these forums, because they get tired of all the hate going on.
The amount of hate have most likely not really increased, but it would seem like it due to lack of positive content. This is actually an example of a mass ad hominem. It deals with zero game issues and assumes that any problem on the forums arises from a mythical group of posters that “hate”. Bad logic and bad argumentation.
I would not say it is at all an ad hominem. It is just a matter of perspective. lordkrall was issuing a warning from his perspective on the type of advice the OP would be receiving in the forums believing that such advice may be skewed negatively.
And it is most definitely an ad hominem or hyperbole at best when you use the word ‘mythical’ for something that can be readily proven by going into most threads on these forums. Negativity can be found on most threads and composes a large number posts in them. That isn’t mythical, it is factual.
Even if the devs had not already said that services would be moving to the Vigil keep, they would have to make Fort Trinity a city to have it as a hub. It is in a level 70 area which lower toons could not reach, but events and personal stories happen there that would bar lower level toons from being safely being there.
It will probably end up being a lvl 35-45 area, would transition well for those who are exploring as they level up.
I would have to agree with this. Looking at the maps around it, I can see it being anywhere between 30 & 50. I do think it will be temporary however. I don’t believe for a second that this will be permanent. It may not be rebuilt in a week, but eventually it will be back as a city IMO.

I would. I would like for changes to stick. But I have this feeling that in a couple of patches LA will be rebuilt which is sad.
I much prefer a sense of permanency than rebild-same-as-before-no-one-would-even-know-something-happened.
I am rooting for LA ruins but since it is a city and a city is just to use for its bank/TP/vendors/crafting it will not make sense to keep it in ruins.
I am kind of like you. I would actually like to see LA rebuilt, but do it over the next year and let it slowly grow and come back. Don’t just do it two weeks after you made the effort to blow it to smithereens! If it is two patches later, I will be disappointed too.
Here is a survey of GW2 players. GW2 received a great review.
http://www.gamestatistics.fr/Guild%20Wars%202%20survey%202013_Full%20Report.pdf
I empathize with the OP’s point of view that this creates a discontinuity for them. But really, for me, the breaking point in Guild War’s lore came in Eye of the North. Just like any work of fiction, if you follow it long enough and close enough you will have your willing suspense of disbelief pushed beyond breaking. Many Dune fans felt this effect with the sixth novel, ‘Chapterhouse: Dune’, while others did not really notice the schisms until the prequel books written by Frank Herbert’s son.
People forget that GW2 is 250 years after GW1…………… I do not see how old lore could make it back into GW2 from GW1…..
If you want Guild Wars 1 lore, you are playing the wrong game. Guild Wars 2 is 250 years in the future, so things are forgotten.
Lets look at real life…. do you really care what happened 250 years ago?
Really? You do not think that the events that happened 250 years ago change the way that you live? British Colonialism creating arbitrary national boundaries where long standing enemies are forced into being part of the same overarching nation, such as Iraq, is something that no one should care about because it was happening 250 years ago? It is rather difficult to claim that this ‘old lore’ does not have any modern impact…..
Absolutely. +1 to you RedShipRaider. This game is built off of the first game. We loved the first game for what it was and want to see lots of elements from that game. If they are just going to cast what happened in the first game aside, why even call the game Guild Wars 2? Is that so hard to understand for some people?
The things and places were as much a part of why GW1 was such a success. Why WOULDN’T they want to incorporate it? For new people it would be interesting history. For those of us that were devoted to the original Guild Wars, it would be bringing us back to the things we loved. Everybody wins.
Pilfering and pillaging of Lions Arch will be done. I only hope they fry some Quaggans while they’re at it. I will watch with glee.
I am good with them destroying it as long as it gets rebuilt eventually. I am also good with Delvoire’s Quaggan hopes. +1 to you.

I am betting that LA will get rebuilt. It will be an explorable zone for a while and we will have a hand in rebuilding it. As much as I am sad to see LA go, I will be glad to see what they do with it in the future.
I read somewhere that they intended to redesign LA to curb lag and make services more easily accessible. Don’t know if that is true, but it will be cool to find out.
I apologize if this has been asked before, but the wonderful search feature brought up nothing. Is the Scarlet LS before or after the personal story?
I too think decent drops are too few and far between. But none of us were promised any thing as far as drops go. That is why it is called Random and not Guaranteed.
I don’t like the fact that I have not gotten any boxes or skins and only a very few exotics, but I was given no promises, so I am not going to throw insults.
I think Tolmos has it right.
It cracks me up when people make claims like:
At the moment ArenaNet are balancing very random, they don’t really know where they want their classes to be. They don’t have a “spot” where they feel it’s just right, where they want all classes to be.
And name a thread “How to balance classes”.
How can anyone claim to know more than the people making the game themselves? It is true that there are balance issues that we can see for ourselves, but I hardly think anyone outside of the ones working on the problems has any real insight on how to fix things.
I liked it. The map is beautiful and there are some fun things to do.
My only complaint (and that of many others on my server) was that the lag was horrible. Someone above mentioned skills not activating for a long time. Happened with me too.
Sorry, but this finisher does not look cute. It looks nasty and salacious. My friends showed me the vid of the new finisher. They are calling it the “Bow Chicka Bow Wow Quaggan Finisher.” My mind doesn’t usually go those places, but they are right. I think it is just a little obscene.
I’ve been thinking of making a topic addressing these issues for quite some time.
1) Fractal rewards are poorly balanced.
You get 1 gold 10 silver ( around that sum) for completing a level 11 fractal and 1 gold and 40 silver for a level 49. How is this balanced?
You might say drops but the RNG in the chests and mob drops is so high that it’s nearly impossible to say if you get better or worse drops.I’ve done a lot of 49 runs, a lot of 38 runs – haven’t noticed ANY difference in drops whatsoever.
There is however a difference in difficulty.
100% agree with this!
2)Fractal weapons – the whole idea of having a super rare exclusive weapon type that you can only get in one place and can’t buy is one i completely get behind. 100%.
But here’s the deal – I’ve done OVER 500 fractal runs and I’ve yet to get the weapon I want. This is absolutely silly.
You should be able to turn 100 or 200 or even 300 Pristine fractal relics into a token and get your weapon that way.
I’ve been going for my fractal longbow since June and have yet to obtain one. Did an average of 1 run per day. Sometimes none, sometimes 2-3 runs / day.
Can’t get behind this. One of the things that keeps me going back to fractals is the chance for one of these skins. I have over 300 fractals and still haven’t gotten one. Frustrating? Maybe a little. But if I get one, I am going to have something out there that very very few people have. I like that. I don’t want to be able to grind or buy one even with pristine relics. So you may have not gotten the one you want, but if you have gotten any at all, you are doing much better than many others. My friend has done as many fractals as you and has not gotten a single fractal weapon.
3)The dredge fractal.
Why do we even have this fractal? it is poorly designed. It’s just there to eat your time up.
You want a good example of how a tier 3 fractal should look ? Look no further than the volcanic fractal.
Good team? done in 15-20 minutes.
Bad team ? You’re there for quite a bit of time ( possibly even an hour).
That’s the kind of gameplay that I feel is right – reward good players and create incentive for bad players to get good.
I can kind of agree with this. It takes a long time, but that also means that it is more challenging that others because of this. I know some of it is mindless fighting (the clown car), but other parts are challenging to many (opening the gate and the bombs). So I am OK, with the fractal.
4)Things that should have been associated with fractals and put in the game but a year + later we still don’t have.
-Why don’t we have a fractal-related title yet?
-Where are the fractal leaderboards we were promised?
-Were are the fractal weapon boxes that were promise and still aren’t in the game.
-Why are we still capped at 50 PR even though ascended armor has been out for quite a bit of time?
I wonder where these things are too. But there are many things we were supposed to have by now that we haven’t in game. I suppose they will get to them eventually.
1. I think that a size limit would not have any advantage. If long winded posters don’t say what they want within their allotment, they will continue on another post. Also if you want examples, these may require more space.
2. Someone above suggested a combination that I like. ANet suggests a list of topics that will help improve and move the game forward. The community votes on which topic it will be. Again, echoing others, less flying mount CDI topics this way.
Some are saying it is Dhuum she is after.
^ This. A ranger that knows how to play his/her toon well and sets the pet to passive can be just as effective as any other class.
Or as effective as any other class if it has a 25-30% DPS handicap being applied to it.
They aren’t inherently terrible – excellent play can offset the class mechanic being nothing but a dead weight, but its really about time ANet made some improvements/changes to Rangers that allowed them to dispel the cloud they labor under.
Agreed. Anet is the one who needs to improve the class, but still a good player on a ranger is still better than a terrible player on any other class. I’ve seen rangers still standing finishing off the champs when the others around him/her have died.
A waste of wall of text.
Rangers with pets are bad for lane 2’s boss, there is no exception. Elementalists with an elemental also bad for this lane; but still elementalists > rangers ^^
This is a complete lie.
I have done Lane two boss with 3 rangers inside and was the second group with their kill at 50 secs left.
It has nothing to do with rangers.
I did lane 2 with x many rangers and my lane failed it every single time. Your single example does not change the fact that rangers with PETs suck in lane 2.
Um, it shows that with competent players you can complete the champs with ay classes and any comp.
I think that is directly to the point of the thread. I am sorry if your group failed but again, it has nothing to do with the class they are playing.
If you cannot see that then I am sorry but that is the fact.
^ This. A ranger that knows how to play his/her toon well and sets the pet to passive can be just as effective as any other class. And Gboks example does indeed show that rangers are not the problem, but the people playing them. But that is no different than any other class. I have see platforms on boss 2 fail with no rangers or necros in sight. Again, it has nothing to do with the class, just the people playing them.
The bottom line for me is that I see no reason or benefit from raging, ranting, insulting, and criticizing others after the event fails. If you need to rant, yell at your computer not the people playing the game. If the event fails, it fails. Move on.
It is an open world event and ultimately (whether it is a good thing or not) anyone can play as want. No one has the right to insist that other players do what they tell them to do.
I would most certainly like to win more than we do on this event. I see players not doing the right thing to win the event all the time. In my mind I just think, “Oh well. This is just a game.” And my blood pressure is better for it.
What really makes me laugh, is that once when I went inside to fight one of the wardens, one of the players who was raging the loudest about the event failing afterward, was the first one on our platform to die and within just a few seconds of being in there. The other four of us on the platform killed the champ and the core. Our chain was severed no thanks to this guy. When the event failed with only three chains severed, he was the one calling people “noobs” and saying that people didn’t know what they were doing. He also said that “Me and my lane severed our chain. If others would play this thing right they would have too.”
I couldn’t resist, so I called him out for dying seconds into our warden fight and him not actually contributing the severing of our chain. I felt a little bad when map/say chat started mocking him relentlessly, but I haven’t seen him saying a thing since. LOL
Also, I would like to say that I appreciate commanders trying to coordinate things in the lanes, but just because you have enough gold to buy a blue dorito, doesn’t mean that you are necessarily qualified to tell anyone what to do. If you have one, be organized, constructive and helpful. If you can’t do that, turn the dorito off. The dorito isn’t license to mock and give orders to people who don’t have to listen to anything you say.
There is no rhyme or reason to precursor drops. Right after I got my first toon to level 80, I got a precursor drop. It was the Chosen. I kept it and sold it months later when I decided to go for my first legendary. I bought Storm and made Meteorlogicus.
Between the first of Nov 2013 and Christmas 2013 I had got three precursors. Rodgort’s Flame in one of the Arah paths. I got Venom in the Mystic Forge, and then Chaos Gun in the cliff side fractal. I had friends with me each time except the forge. It was freaking amazing. I was getting death threats from my guild mates. LOL
I kept Rodgort’s Flame to work on for my next legendary. I sold Venom to a guild member for much cheaper than she could have bought it for. I sold the Chaos Gun for gold to get mats for Rodgort.
This isn’t a brag or anything of the sort. It is just to show that there is no pattern or promise of a precursor. I was way beyond lucky. I have friends who have never gotten one that have played even more than I have. Do I feel sorry for them? Of course. Even with the hard time they gave me, they all understand that nothing is guaranteed no matter how long you play the game.
I don’t believe that anything that has impact on the personal story line of any race will be affected. I read in one interview way back during the Queen’s Jubilee that they entertained killing Queen Jenna, but she was involved in the personal story line so they couldn’t. (Don’t ask me where or who. I don’t remember.)
I can see non-story events and areas destroyed. Maybe the MAW or Fire Elemental or areas of cities that do not impact personal characters or the like.
I got The Chosen in the forge. I really like the FSP too, but my main is an Ele. Sold it to buy the precursor for Meteorlogicus. I still think the FSP has awesome animation.
Well, I most certainly didn’t mean tricks to be taken so literally. We are not side stepping any content during the fractal. We know how to do the bombs so we get through it easily, but do the content as it was presented. The clown car isn’t an issue either. We simply take them down because we know how to fight them.
No gimmicks. No weird hiding places. No unfair advantages. We just figured out how to run bombs and fight the clown car. If you cannot figure it out on your own as we have, there are plenty of vids showing how to do much of the GW2 content out there. I’m sure the bombs and the clown car are among them.
We don’t even blink at this anymore. We used to all groan when it came up, but we have learned the tricks. Just another fractal to us now.
+1 to Inculpatus and Vayne. I too like the Marionette. I wasn’t agreeing with the OP on the content, just the fact that sending a message is something you do for yourself. And if that is the way he intends to send a message because he doesn’t like the content, then I think that is great.
If enough people quit doing content they dislike ANet will likely listen.
people quitting doing content they dislike is something they should do for themselves, not because it “sends a message”.
I believe “sending a message” is doing something for yourself. They are not mutually exclusive things.
I’m in the Tormented Shield camp.
Personally, I am of two minds. I want more challenging content, but I also would like more interaction with PC’s necessary to make the new challenges fun to do beyond just pressing skill buttons. Also, I think that hints, even very vague ones, would be nice from PC’s on the challenges would be great too. I don’t want to know how to fight the battle, but I don’t just want to wander aimlessly around either.
I wasn’t rebutting you. Just used your post to quote and reply
SNIP.
If you can’t be bothered to man up and make some serious changes to the game that are needed, instead of dancing around the issue trying to make your way work, and only admitting to your faults in a CDI, then I cannot be bothered to support your game.
No problem. It’s all good. And I mostly agree with you on your second post too. I’m very anxious to see what the QoL update will bring in March. Maybe, although I think it is wishful thinking, some of those things will happen.
I am hopeful that something very positive will come from those CDI threads. I’m trying to be an optimist, because I really do enjoy this game and its potential.
I honestly don’t believe that they are going to nerf zerkers but just make it more balanced with other armors/builds/play styles. Some might get slight boosts and some slight reductions. I am certain zerker will still be very viable.
I dont think the specs need to be looked at. Their watered down content does.
If you give content that has minimal condition removal requirements, minimal buff requirements(such as stability), minimal unique mechanics..and open world content that fosters zerg mentality, then you can nerf any spec you want. Won’t change the fact that 9/10 dungeon bosses and world bosses require no thought whatsoever.
Reworking crit damage and/or nerfing classes is a lazy patchwork job to avoid the bigger issue of reworking their content mechanics (dungeon bosses, open world bosses, etc).
Astounding.
It is this type of decision making that is driving me away from the came for good. Blizzard did the same with WoW…their decision making began to be atrocious. Arenanet is following the same path unfortunately. They cannot see 2 feet in front of them and see the larger picture, or they do not feel like tackling it. THEN months down the road, this becomes a CDI, they acknowledge the problems of their ways and then months later we see change.
Same old…laughable.
I agree with you. I wasn’t actually justifying what they are about to do, just explaining what I think is going to happen. You are right that it is the lazy and wrong way to do it, but I think it is the way they WILL do it.
