Not a single point I made was even argued,

Not a single point ya made was new or interesting; ya want good feedback, write something original.

But I’m not angry with ya – though I know you’d love me ta be – that might suggest your post said something I haven’t heard a thousand times – and said better. At this point it’s just annoying.

Gotta give it to ya, though, as a Troll, you’ve got stick-to-it-ive-ness.

You seem upset son, every thing ok at home? Hows family? Feeling bit sad? Thinking bout cruising dem forums. It won’t solve your problems, but I am glad none the less that you visited.

Hey Jack of Tears. Don’t you love when they prove your point? LOL

Since the OP deleted his post, I will take it from where someone else caught it.

This right here just caused anything you say from here on out not matter. You are just a troll.

It is pretty sad too. I was reading all of this and was going to comment on some of the stuff you talked about in your rambling post to start this, since it seems your writing level is that of a 4th grader.

But to each his own. I used to play games like you, min/mix everything I could, find the best way to do each set of content. Now I have never played WoW, but I have done a few other MMO’s. As I have gotten older, gotten married, and had children, I enjoy a more casual style since I don’t know when I will play, or if I will get intrupted. I don’t min/mix any more in the sense that you do. I find the best build for my play style and that is FUN for ME. I still try to be good, but not put as much effort into. I have a warrior, I run Knights with him because I am the type of person that just stands in there way past when they should dodge out. I understand that about my self and changed accordingly.

You talk about rangers in one of your post. My play style on a ranger to you would be considered bad. I enjoy condition build on him. I run Rabid armor. I use a SB and sword/dagger. And I have a lot of fun with it. I do decent crit damage, and my poison stacks duration really well and I survive. I use it in dungeons all the time and never have any problems.

Yes there are areas within the game where it is better to have certain stats to make the fights easier, but it is not required. The game is set up for players like me to just play, whenever I want and not have to worry about gear. But players like you, just need to head back to games that fit your play style, because GW2 will never be it.

I found nothing constructive in your comments at all. You don’t understand a single thing I said and you try to justify every thing with “my play style, go back to wow”. And it sounds like maybe you just read a single sentence before you already created that opinion, you consider my comments about stat interaction/controls/content/skills/movement are wrong yet you don’t prove a single thing, your not debating, and you expect me to say some thing smart to some other guy who can’t say anything constructive? We can only learn from other games, there is no reason for people like you to insult other games.

Actually I think Hjorje addressed you and your positions very well. You take an elitist stance toward other players. You have no tolerance for differing play styles and abilities. He addressed those very well. I think that he understands you completely. As do we all. We can clearly spot a forum troll when we see one.

And I don’t exactly remember where, Konig probably does, but in one of the scenes in GW1 Ogden says something about not going through the transformation.

He doesn’t say it expressly, but I believe that he told the hero (us) that he would stay with him temporarily. I think you may be able to take what he said as an indication that he would indeed transform one day. Of course, that just may be how I took it.

Just found it! Ogden Stonehealer: “Not I. Those who undergo the rite are changed in both body AND mind. I will stay with you, for the moment.” – from the Great Dwarf cinematic.

Good Looking Staff for Guardians?

I used vanguard when leveling on my guard, but really I think you need dark armor to make ebon hawk stuff look good. Like my Norn warrior is in Armageddon abyss/yellow detail(of some type I forget) and the transmuted ebon GS and hammer matches that well.

Emberspire? So you’re that guy… no j/k I have one on my fire ele from early on, some people use it.

And don’t forget pact weapons, if you like dark, the skins are less used but look pretty good. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Quarterstaff

Well… It isn’t actually Emberspire, it is Emberspire’s skin. It just goes with the molten look. The actual molten staff skin is too freaking expensive. My whole armor is black with yellow/orange/red accents. I have a molten great sword that I use. Although my guard has the Emberspire skin, I rarely use it. I am pretty much a great sword or hammer and Scepter/Torch. I just have the Emberspire staff skin to go with the rest of the look.

I do have a set of PVT armor that I use on occasion when it is critical that I stay alive that is dark blue and black. I use the pact staff for that one along with Cobalt and the skins of Coldsnap and a Pearl Torch. You are right that the Pact Staff looks great, but the OP wants a staff that doesn’t have skulls and creepy stuff on it as the pact staff does. That is why I suggested the others.

IMO if you go with traditional looking Guardian gear and colors as I did for a long time and of these staves look good. Except for the last one, I have used all these skins with my Guard:
Corrupted Branch
Seraph Staff
Monsoon
Aureat Staff
Ebon Vanguard Staff

When I got my molten bracers I went non traditional with my guardian armor and now use Emberspire.

I can see the Toy Staff looking good with certain armors for the guardian too.

OP, I read all of your original post along with the other posts on this thread and I have a few thoughts that nutshells what I think I am reading.

1. Vayne had it right in that he said you calling the thread “Horrible game design” immediately destroys credibility to anything you might say. For me in particular, it ruins your credibility because it is simply your opinion about it being that way. Others may agree, but all of us play the game so it is obviously not “horrible” or none of us would bother with the game.

2. You think that your playstyle is the only great way of playing GW2. Or that is the way you are coming across in your post. It is ego and arrogance when anyone believes that their way is the only right way. This game has to appeal to a wide range of people not just gamers like you. It is very short sighted to not be able to acknowledge that.

3. You have some good points in your original post, but most of them are overshadowed by what appears to be an elitist attitude. I tend to be a more hard core gamer like you, but would never subject or expect other players to be like me or play the way I do. If you are playing with PUGs, then you get whatever you deserve. If I play with a PUG, I accept whomever I am playing with. Some may be completely inexperienced or not very skilled but they are playing for fun and I am happy to help them have a good time. They do not in any way deserve derision from other players. You chose to play with a PUG and you get what you get. You have no right to tell them how and what they should play. If you don’t like the random dynamic of a PUG then put together a group that fits your needs. That is what like minded guilds are for.

Incoming New Races.

Here’s my 2 cents

Races I’d love to see (in order)
Kodan – They fit in the lore, are friendly to the other playable races, there are plenty of them around, and they already hang out in LA from time to time. From a technical perspective, they also have some in-game models and animations done.

Tengu/Largos – A mysterious pair of races, they both have a sort of “cool factor” that’s difficult to verbalize or quantify.

Dwarves – A bit of difficulty given the stone-form lore, but do-able I suppose. They could make for a good addition.

Totally on board with Tengu, Largos, and Dwarves. Not kodan however. I don’t want another giant race making JP’s and other things more difficult because of camera issues and others you have mentioned below about the centaurs. Simply too big IMO. I think they are fine, but I would much rather see the Tengu who have a rich GW history.

Races I never want to see
Quaggan – They’re horrible. It’s a personal preference I know, but I feel like this weak and worthless race should, by all rights, have been wiped out by the Krait and other predators long ago.

Skritt – I dont hate skritt, but they make no sense as a playable race, since their intelligence is based on the number of skritt.

Centaur – A 4 legged race would just look silly doing jumping puzzles, dodge rolling, and such. Lorewise, 99% of centaur HATE humans and their allies.

Skritt: I feel the same way.
Centaur: I also feel the same way on this race.
Quaggan: Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen and amen. Did I say ‘Amen’ yet? Amen. These are the freaking Ewoks and Jar-Jar Binks’ of the GW universe. I would hate them being a playable race.

You have got to be kittening joking.

I’ll file this under “More Evidence That This Playerbase Will Whine About Anything.”

So its wrong for me to point out a flaw and give a potential solution then? You dont belong on the forums if you think its wrong for me to voice my opinion about something that really is a flaw. If they just make it so that an initial for the server your own is next to your name then it would be much better then having to add a last name, so instead of say Luna, it would be Luna-GM, GM standing for Gates of Madness if the character originates from Gates of Madness. It would simplify things and remove the need of using a last name.

You don’t need a last name. One word names are now acceptable. I have three characters with only one name.

It is hardly a flaw in the game but rather a benefit that people who create their names have sole right to it.

As others have pointed out, similar names are also available. If you wanted the name “Mike” and it was taken try “Myke” and see if it is available.

There are literally billions of name and word combinations to create. If you are stumped in generating one, there are name generators on the net you can try and also name meaning websites you can get ideas from.

However as Vayne pointed out below, it isn’t wrong for you to voice your opinion in any way, just know that when you give such a apocalyptic title to a matter that is very trivial, you will draw the haters and snarky posters to you like metal to magnates.

a) I have not heard anyone say they DON’T want the trail returned.

b) Not glowing when sheathed during daytime is clearly a bug.

c) These footsteps clearly are kinda crappy.

d.) Sure, the rest is opinion.

However, a lot of us invested MONTHS OF OUR TIME making a Legendary weapon because it LOOKED A CERTAIN WAY. They changed the way it looks after we had already made it. That is why it is not fair.

I’m not saying ANYWHERE that they should take away your weapon. I’m saying they should give those of us who want it the OPTION to look more like the original Meteorlogicus.

Um, if you would bother to look, I wasn’t quoting you, unless you have two different names you are posting under.

But to address your points.

a) Did I say anything about not wanting the trail returned? My opinion on the trail is I don’t care if they bring it back or not. It was just OK, in my opinion.

b) Then I suppose they will fix it if it is.

c) I agree. I said that in my original message.

d) Yes it is.

Yes a lot of US invested a lot of time and effort into creating this Legendary. I am one of those included in US. I liked the way it looked then, I like the way it looks now. I also said in my original post that I completely felt sorry for those who wanted it the old way and said I wished ANet would give us the choice of the old or the new. And did I ever indicate ANYWHERE that someone though they should take my weapon away? What in the world are you talking about?

Maybe before you start raging on me you should see who I actually quoted and read what I had written on this subject before. You might not get so bent out of shape that way.

Still I feel bad for the ones not happy about the change. The OP suggested a choice of looks for Meteorlogicus. If they give us one, I don’t believe it should be as the OP stated it should either be the old one or the new and then you are stuck with what you choose.

Your logic hurts my brain. I want them to make meteorlogicus better. I don’t want them to make it worse but give them gimmicks. It should only be improvement and not lazy editing. No matter what ANYONE says, the design on night time was pure laziness.

You can have your opinion and that is fine. But not all of us agree with you. Your opinion of ‘making meteorlogicus better’ isn’t everyone’s. It is just what you want to see or what you think is bad that makes you think that it ‘needs’ to be better.

I like the new version of the weapon. I don’t care for the footfalls, but the effects, coloring and everything else I think are great. And yes I had the weapon before the switch.

ANet did what they thought made the weapon look better and that is what they gave us. I get that some liked it as it was before. You saying they are making it worse by giving us gimmicks is purely your opinion. It is obvious that others share that opinion, but many do not.

My suggestion was just that, a suggestion. If ANet asked 100 of us what we thought the perfect look and effect for Meteorlogicus would be, they would get 100 different answers. They cannot please everyone. So they did what they thought was good.

So if my logic hurts your brain, that is a two way street. Your selfish logic makes me want to hurl.

With how things are going, who knows, maybe they’ll end up retconing the history so that Dwayna was Khilbron’s mother as well.

This made me laugh. I am getting just a little more than annoyed how they seem to be taking a huge dump on previous lore. I know we have discussed this before, but now we apparently have people, past and present, who were out scraping the bloodstones and putting the dust in baggies for us to discover in the world. And lots of it.

With all that powerful magic out there, wouldn’t the Elder Dragons be going ape kitten over their lieutenants carrying this stuff around and dropping it each time they get defeated?

You would think that bloodstone dust would be like cocaine for the ED’s and they certainly wouldn’t be letting their underlings keep the stuff. Well, IMO anyway.

Why was lore presented so poorly in GW2?

in Lore

Posted by: jheryn.8390

jheryn.8390

We received plenty of lore in GW1 during missions. Rurik’s death and undeath were both part of missions. Dunkoro speaking with his dead son. Kormir telling us how she knew she was the one who triggered nightfall.

The cut scenes were a were a wealth of lore. Even some of the tasks that we had to perform during the missions mattered for the continuation of the overall story and lore. Like the mission that forced the Kurzick’s and the Luxon’s to battle the afflicted together. The mission that ascended the player in order to see the Mursaat. Almost all of the missions had an impact on lore and many actually set lore with cut scene information.

I’m entitled to these since you are upgrading my version of purchase.

You are not entitled to anything. I bought the digital deluxe and knew what was in it when I bought it. I got what I paid for.

Now they have changed their product. I and you are entitled to nothing. They can still call it the same thing but it is now a different product. You are entitled to nothing with this new product. You bought the old product not the new. If you want the new one then buy it.

I’m not going to sit back and jip myself out of $25 worth of product I don’t have/cant afford. I bought the Digital Deluxe Version and Expect to have any upgrades made to this purchase delivered to my account punctually and efficiently. Anyone who disagrees it is your loss, but I am sticking to my entitlement and I expect these.

You will live in perpetual disappointment over this then. It is not a continuation or upgrade of yours. So expect away. As the old saying goes, "You can #$&@ in one hand and put your expected items in the other and see which one fills up the fastest.

This is a heated discussion and my feeling is owners of Meteorlogicus (myself included) have the right to be kitten ed about what happened. You are ok with the changes, I’m happy for you. But at least try showing some empathy instead of bumping into the discussion with no arguments other than smileys’.

I’ll give you that. He/she shouldn’t just jump in with the smileys and bugger off because I like it. That was just as rude.

I guess in the end I am trying to say that it is OK, for everyone to have their personal reaction, but when we resort to attacking each other over it, it just makes a difficult situation worse.

Even though I do like the changes, I completely understand why others don’t. I think as someone else stated, it would be nice if there was some sort of compromise, but I honestly don’t really see that happening. I think it would be easy enough for them to turn the trails back on and the glow back on when stowed. I am happy without both, but would be just as happy if they turned them back on.

I sympathize with you for not liking it and it not being the weapon you crafted. It really does suck that you are not happy with the changes. I happen to like the changes and I think mine looks even better with my character.

I actually like the footfalls. The blue and purple trails I could take or leave.

So overall I am happy with the changes. No it isn’t exactly like the one I originally crafted, but I like the way it is now better.

You are being short sighted about this issue. A few gold spent and probably earned back already. Players complained about MF gear, sacrificing stats for a small chance to get better loot. So they separate MF from gear, this is a win overall.

Pretty rude to tell someone they are being short sighted. That is only your opinion. In his eyes it obviously isn’t a win overall. His opinion is just as relevant as yours.

I am somewhere in the middle. I like account wide MF, but also spent a lot of time and effort on some of my MF gear. I created The Mad Moon not only because I liked the skin but as part of my Guardian’s MF gear. So in my opinion it isn’t a ‘win overall’ but more of a wash.

I get that I am not the only player (and neither is Gandarel and Konig) ANet has to cater to, but I play the game for the lore and fantasy setting aspects. The sci-fi and techy garbage seriously detracts for me.

I LMAO in GW1 when they had the Commando for April fools. It was fun for a couple of weeks, but I knew it was for laughs. All this Asura tech being added just makes the game feel like it is trying to become a bad arcade video game I have to put two quarters in to play.

Things I know I will like is that when it is stowed, the glow stops. I think it will make it more dramatic when in use.

I saw the vid with the footsteps and I will have to agree that I am not that impressed with them.

I’m actually OK, with the blue and purple because it doesn’t affect my armor color as it is white with black accents.

I do understand why many people are not overly happy here if the look they wanted is now gone. Even saying that, IMO the night/day change I think is very, very cool.

Why was lore presented so poorly in GW2?

in Lore

jheryn.8390

ArenaNet doesn’t show that. Instead of showing the game has lore and story and background, they put their background on their official site, where it’ll be lost to the nether of news posts. Or removed entirely like their blog posts (thank god they got put on the wiki first).

This is an excellent point. It certainly was not perfect, but in GW1 the writing and progression of missions and quests really told not only the main story, but gave us much background on the history/culture of the GW1 areas. Having lore, any lore new or old, relegated to blog posts and official sites is just not good. The game itself should tell the story and give us the history.

I also believe that the devs don’t have to recount all of GW1 history in GW2, but it should be an evident presence in the new game. GW1 itself should be a history lesson and foundation for GW2. Still new lore and history shouldn’t have to be Googled in order to access it.

I have no problem with supplemental information out there such as books, but even the book information should at least in part be embedded in the game IMO.

The problem is, the dissatisfaction in your case comes from the game in general, from day one. The dissatisfaction found throughout most of this topic, minus the OP, is found pointed in the general direction of the Living Story.

I really don’t feel that way Narcemus. I am OK, with the actual storylines of the LS. Introducing new threats, etc., into a story is fine. Heck 250 years ago in RL people weren’t worrying about texting and buggy driving. Things are different after 250. There are new threats and issues.

I think myself, Konig and Obsidian are not griping about the LS but more the disregard for what we know in GW1. I’m OK with the addition of new lore, I just don’t want to throw the old lore out the window and pretend it doesn’t have impact on life in Tyria today.

That is exactly my point. Obsidian. I agree with you 100%. 250 years or not it feels like there isn’t much left of the game we all loved.

I think there was such an amazing foundation to build this game on, and they seemed to throw much of that out the window. Instead of building on many of the beloved places and themes in GW1 then destroyed most location and have glossed over many of the themes.

In their defense, they do have four new races to absorb into lore and establish. I get that, but even in the very human and Char areas we are intimately familiar with, much of what we wanted to see is simple not there.

It doesn’t feel like the things and places of GW1. When I am in the Kryta areas, I don’t feel like I am in the Kryta of GW1. The Maguuma jungle no longer feels like a jungle but a semi-suburban sprawl. Where are all the HUGE mountains we were able to roam around in and on top of in the Shiverpeaks?

It is just like you asked. Does it really even feel like the Tyria we knew? Where is the nostalgia for the game that brought us here? Just my feeling as I go through the game.

And that’s GW2’s problem, everything they write has to expand on what is already there. And while that be a great amount of free filler, it’s also a burden, that constraints the writers creatively. And it shows.

False.

History put in before human history is not “filling in the gaps” – history unrelated to the human histories (for example, the whole of The Ecology of the Charr) is not filling in the gaps. While that’d be true in some cases, when there’s nothing to hint at something having happened, that’s not quite filling in the gaps. If it is, then your argument can be used on the full existence of Factions and Nightfall, and even Eye of the North.

I agree with Konig. Any history real or in this case imagined, is expansive. I don’t believe the writers/creators are constrained at all. They have a 250 year gap between games and an amazing amount of history before the first game that they can create. True creativity in this case is not replacing or being constrained by known history, but using it and making it more rich.

The problem is that they’d still be constantly railroaded by the lore that is already there. They can’t step out of that box.

I disagree. It all depends on how you work with what you’re given. You may be right about it being a “dance” in storytelling, but that is a far cry from shoehorning or being railroaded, let alone “filling in the gaps.”

I think MQM that they don’t need to step out of the box for anything. The box is vast. It isn’t even the tiniest fraction full. There are not gaps, there are expanses. The writers could never cover all of the history concerning GW1 lore that is left for them to expand upon. They aren’t railroaded, they in fact, have been given a solid base of information to play off of and haven’t utilized what they have been given to any broad extent.

The problem here is that the writers can’t really take Tyria in an entirely new direction.

The problem is that the writers are deciding to do away with GW1 lore. That’s the problem. They are going in an entirely new direction, too much of one.

Amen Konig. Although they have two hundred and fifty years to play with there is much history that we have today from 250 years ago that we are well aware of. We should be seeing more of it in my opinion. Also history gets convoluted over the centuries, but I believe you are right. They are going in to much of a ‘new’ direction.

There’s already established lore from GW1, that directly limits them in what they can write. So either they have to redcon stuff, push it to the side, or not make any mention of it.

Or build off of it which is 100% perfectly possible, unlike your claim.

Exactly Konig. They are taking the easy, not the creative way out.

Sure you can write everything in a way that makes sense, but you’d still be busy filling in the holes left by other writers. If you want to truly do something new, you can’t.

In writing, “holes left by others” regard things mentioned but unexplained, not the utterly never mentioned stuff. Writing what happened in Kryta between its independence in 358 and Thorn’s life in cerca 800 AE is not filling in gaps – explaining the life of Thorn is filling in gaps.

IMO that is the GW2 creative team’s job to fill in holes from GW1 and expand on it’s very rich lore. GW2 may be a new game, but it is a game built upon the foundations of a beloved game that had many years of life due to its rich story and locations. Why even call this game Guild Wars, if the writers can just throw out what many, many players loved about the game that holds the original title of Guild Wars?

Fixing Ascended Gear.

I have to say, these threads are so funny to read.

No for all of you that have a disagreement on the ascended stuff. How many of you own an ascended item? We knew back in November they were going to keep adding ascended to the game, if you was against it, then you shouldn’t have gotten any in the time frame because it is against your playing style, correct?
.

I have no Ascended items- not one

I only have one Ascended item, but I must say that I am with Hjorje on this one. I knew they were coming and have decided to start outfitting both of my two mains with ascended gear when I can afford them.

I like the ascended items concept. I can’t wait to see what the new stuff looks like.

The Fate of Exotics

They won’t be useless per say.
[SNIP]
People will still use exotics, especially if ascended weapons cost A LOT. In that case as well, most people may only upgrade their main character.

I feel the same way. I will work toward ascended for my two mains, but the rest of my Alts will just have to deal with exotics.

I’ve worked pretty hard to make sure all my alts have exotic weaps/armor and realy don’t see a need for them to have anything better.

I honestly don’t really see a need for my mains to have them either, except that I like to play fractals with both and will get them just for that purpose only. For PvE and WvW, what they have now is just fine.

I enjoyed the gift.

The mini is fine just like any mini. I don’t care that I have 8 of them. They all store in the bank.

The express pass to level 20 scrolls are fine too. When and if new classes or races become available, I’ll use them on the new char slots I will buy.

The birthday booster is fun. Not incredibly far reaching but fun and free.

Not going to complain about free stuff.

I’m with you OP. I like Scarlet a lot. I see how she could rub some people annoying like she does with @Farzo, but she cracks me up. The writing and development of her character is going well. She is not gone by any means and I can’t wait to see what they do with her next.

Vorp's Pieces on Alt - Soulbound

I figured it out. I went up and talked to him (he does not give the alt a communicator) but it does unlock the achievement on the person who has the “stuff”. One has a communicator, one has the stuff, but both can get in the dungeon. Very silly, however to have the things soulbound. Should be account bound.

I agree. I bet they fix this in an update.

Let’s face it Hjorje, it is obviously some kid or insanely immature adult who would act like that. Only a young person or troll would act that way.

I agree with you, it is terrible form to cyber stalk someone in-game because you didn’t like what they said on these forums.

Some people just cant maturely handle someone not agreeing with them or disagreeing with their position.

So how many characters do you have?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

jheryn.8390

Ten. Six of them are level 80. The seventh is a level 42. And the 8th is only at level 3. The other two I have rolled to play later. One of them held my dungeon tokens but now that is out. The other of these two hold crap that I don’t like cluttering up my bank. So those two are basically mules.

Dyes used by npcs

I’ve got a couple of Whispers toons that I have used different dyes to achieve the whispers look. It depends on the type of armor. They don’t all color the same. Same for the other two orders armor. I’ll try to remember to look up what I used.

Even saying that, many times different member NPC’s of each order often have slightly different but similar colors on their armor. I have noticed this particularly with Priory and Vigil.

What about the Sylvari?

They can only do so many story focuses at a time. I am sure the Sylvari will get their day. You can’t expect them to do everything at once.

I should be surprised by this thread but sadly Im not…[SNIP]

I should be surprised by this type of reply, but I’m not. You take my words too literally. I’ve played and enjoyed every single event and living story update thus far. I just don’t feel that it’s right to have one entirely centered around humans and NOTHING else.

Also I’m not someone who likes to complain. I’ve done nothing but support GW2 since before it was even launched. I offer suggestions and feedback (you know, the intention of the forums?) on a regular basis and I don’t consider trying to make the game a better experience is complaining.

I understand what you are saying on your first post. I don’t agree with it, but I understand. However, I also think Loki understands as well. If you were just offering suggestions and feedback then you would state your position and leave it at that. However, on this thread you are arguing with everyone who doesn’t agree with your stance.

My stance on the Queen’s part of the living story line, is that it is awesome. I can’t wait to see other things in other places just like it.

I want diversity in the world. If that means sometimes just concentrating on one race or one person, then awesome. If it is encompassing the whole world then that is great too.

Not every event is going to be world threatening, nor should it be. There should be good and bad events. This celebration doesn’t have to be earth shattering. It just has to be enjoyable play. For many people it is that.

Also, for you to not recognize that Flame and Frost was not Char and Norn centered is confusing. It doesn’t matter that it was an event that would have eventually spread to all of Tyria. The real fact of the matter is that it was centered around Norn and Char areas with Norn and Char foes. It had two new named NPC’s that we had to focus on their plights. Again, it doesn’t matter if it would eventually infect all of Tyria, at that specific moment it was a Norn and Char problem. The other races could have said, let them handle it. When it starts to affect us then we’ll do something about it.

Why you should care about the Queen is because it is part of the story and lore of GW2. She is an important part of our world at large. She maintains a very tenuous treaty with the Char. She is one of the premier leaders in the world. I am not a Russian, German, Chinese or North Vietnam citizen, but I care what is going on with their leaders (Putin, Merkel, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un respectively)

They are important players in the world and we should all care what the leaders in the world are doing even if it is simply a celebration they are throwing. What they do may not directly affect me, but usually it has tendrils that touch the rest of the world.

If every event is a world threat involving all races all the time, that would get boring to me. I want to see a variety of events with different themes. Maybe next time we will all have to care about what is going on beneath Rata Sum. After that maybe we all have to care about what is going on in that place in Rin that access is prohibited in. Whatever the case may be, I want to have to care about all the races not just one because it is the race of the character I play.

I don't like this update

in Queen's Jubilee

jheryn.8390

I really like this update. I am having a great time playing in the Pavilion and doing balloon events out in the world.

Like many, however, I would enjoy more permanent content. I also would like events that weren’t always dynamic. Missions in GW were instanced. I would like to see more of that on top of the temporary content. I like both.

I see both sides that are in conflict here, but I think the one thing missing in most of the posts is that most posters are just looking at things a bit selfishly.

There have been a lot of new content that I didn’t enjoy, but friends of mine thought it was great! The opposite has also been true.

I didn’t complain about the content I didn’t like because I knew others had a great experience with it and I knew my time would come around.

As Anthony said, you cannot please everyone all the time. The part that upsets me with many of the posters is that they believe that if they don’t like the content, then “it is horrible.” That isn’t true. It is just horrible to them. Others may really appreciate it.

We are all entitled to our opinions. I like this update yet the OP does not. Both views are valid. Neither is right nor wrong.

The part that is wrong are the attacks on ANet and other players. If you like the new content, don’t call the ones that don’t ‘whiners.’ If you hate the new content, don’t attack the developers and players who enjoy it.

Voice your opinions, but realize that your opinions are just that. Opinions. You are not right. You are not wrong. Just be civil. All of the arguing, fighting, name calling and egos are wearing thin.

Can’t wait to get home from work and play.

No one is forcing you or anyone else to play with MF armor players.

If you play with friends, this discussion is meaningless. Noone cares if 5 buddys play fotm 70 in full MF gear.

Its only about pugs. And in a pug, everyone can force me to play with him, even if he is a full MF-leech. I can’t do anything about it.

You can post something like “lf3m CoE path 1/2/3, any class, please bring decent damage – no magicfind”. Then, suddently, Wombi teh Warrior joins your party.

…And now?

Yep still up to you. If someone is playing MF armor and you know about it, drop out and find a different group. Or kick the offender if you specified ‘no MF’ and find another player. You are not forced to play with anyone.

You apparently don’t understand the definition of the word “opinion,” because what you’re expressing is PRECISELY an opinion.

No, it’s a logical conclusion.

Then your logic is flawed…. You’re wrong in a myriad of cases.

Convince me, then. Show me a single piece of content in this game’s pve, with the exception of the new patch, where a dps build is not more viable than anything else.

What do you mean by ‘viable’? Faster kills. Faster completion? Survivability?

In this game ‘viable’ is in the eyes of the beholder. You may think that speed or damage is the key. Another may think that ‘build that is fun for them to play’ is the viable choice. Another may think that optimal magic find is the viable option. Yet another may think that survivability is the ticket.

When it comes down to it, whatever is important to you is what is viable. If you believe that zerker armor is the only viable choice, then play full zerker and play with those that also feel this way. No one is forcing you or anyone else to play with MF armor players.

Let’s be clear about one thing. There is no ‘optimal’ armor as a general statement. If you believe one kind of armor is optimal, then it is only optimal for you and those who agree with you. That goes for zerkers or magic finders and any other advocates of different armors.

The different classes/armors/weapons, etc. are all out there for people to fit their own playstyle. None of them are right or wrong. They just are.

Again, if you don’t like MF armor players. Don’t play with them. If you think they are selfish, fine. It doesn’t mean they are, it just means you THINK they are. And MF armor supporters, just because you believe zerkers are elitists doesn’t mean they are it just means you BELIEVE they are.

Play with what and whom you want. Don’t make ridiculous arguments about who’s right or wrong.

Next.
