Totally not GOTY. Maybe in the top 10 but even that may be pushing it. Personally given the state of things lately not even the best pc game.
I’m going to go with 3 but leaning towards 2. I don’t really have an issue with there vision for the class. I signed up figuring I would be placing DoT’s, spreading disease, and outlasting opponents. Problem is what they saw we are supposed to be is NOT what we are. The frusterating thing as that this class could be fine with very minor changes as fixes. We arent asking for a huge overhaul, just to fix what is broken and maybe add the option to have on par burst for pvp (which I believe should come at a cost of some of our other skills if we choose that route). Still, I an completely outraged at Anet themselves which is pushing me towards #2. The treatment of the community, overall lack of very basic fixes, and blatant bait and switch tactics of leading us on then screwing us (and other classes) over repeatedly is getting to an un-paralleled level. At heart the game and the class ARE good, but as someone who has been playing MMO’s for the better part of a decade I have never seen a company behave in such an arrogant and deceitful manner.
Nope its a necromancer skill…its working as intended. However they did buff the underwater snowball #6
Every time I watch these I get very conflicted. Most of these guys (Anet) seem really decent and interested in what the community has to say. But then on the forums and what is reflected in game, to be 100 % honest, seems like they are not listening at all.
I only need one. Absolutely no balance. Certain professions you can do everything right and still lose badly to someone spamming 1 or 2 buttons with no clue what there doing other than reading an OP build off the interwebs. Till this is fixed a large segment of the population won’t pvp. Matches will suck, tPvP will have long queues, and this will NEVER become an eSport.
I know mesmer rune does. I have not personally tested the sigil.
Thank you for the link. Hopefully the owner will consider doing a new one even if only at the six month mark. I feel it would be quite relevant and informative to the state of the game.
As for a direct example it is hard to point to one thing, but it’s more of an overall feeling. Personally my first character was a necromancer that I really liked in both pve and PvP. Just by chance my next character was a guardian and I was blown away. In pve my skills and traits actually had a purpose and functioned. In PvP I felt I had the ability to win against any other profession if I played right. As I have made more characters and leveled them to various degrees I have felt more and more that certain professions are complete and others are just not on par. I’m certain I am not the only one seeing this as when you stand around LA yup can see a massive number of specific professions and a notable absence of others. This is even more apparent in PvP. I like the game still even if I don’t agree with a lot of the direction lately. Still I do not want to see a population composed of only half of the classes.
Does anyone know of a site that has attempted to do a census for gw2? Of late I have been very interested in seeing if the population is maintaining and exactly what professions are most played. Partially I must admit this is because lately I have seen anet “hotfix” things based on metrics yet if they have access to such info why are they not fixing things to adjust for the fact that certain classes are overtaking the population due to vast imbalance.
If they want to keep the “social aspect” then why not just add a LFG tab in chat? I am with many of those here in that I will not be using a third party site just to get a group. Good job to the creator for a great idea but shame on Anet for trying to promote this to cover there lack of effort to improve there own game.
Funny what the red chooses to break the vow of silence for
I’m getting very upset with this a well. There are huge issues atm in this game. About half the community has a love hate relationship with the game. About 4 of the 8 classes function correctly. And I don’t think anyone can honestly say that there is meaningful communication as to the issues. Yet every media site is touting the game as the second coming. I really don’t want to give up but right now I feel very unheard.
You really think they will compensate anyone accordingly? The same people who haven’t fixed 98% of this broken issues with this game after 3 months and have lied to its community at every turn…
same thing here sat at a load screen and got kitten from this cluster kitten of an event
Made it about 20 minutes through the lag and invisible mobs. Agroup of about 100 of us get 1 shotted by a stealth champ mob and when I got to a wp it sits at the load screen. Been at the screen 10 minutes now. Guess its wait or go to overflow and have no chance at the event.
I think if they just added loot and karma skins more themed to the zones people would enjoy them way more. Maybe 5 or 10 set graphics for each zone theme.
I thought that was only from the dungeon itself
So the new zone looks nice but what’s the reason to go there? I know personally I ran around exploring, doing events, and farming for about 3 hours till I stopped myself and asked why. The events aren’t as good for farming karma or gold as Orr. Do any items specific to the area drop here or are there any unique skins from karma? In my travels I did not see any. I like the zone but atm it seems like the only thing it exists for is getting karka shells.
I would like to know too. 1300 for exotics seems like a lot for a 3 day event but if it is going to be around for a while it may be worth it to toss in some unwanted items. Sadly I have a feeling it is only temporary.
Every couple of matches? I cant get through one without getting stuck at a load screen after all of the HAHA HAAHA HAAHA “fixes” in this patch.
At least now we can invite our friends for 3 days to witness the endless false hope that Anet offers to keep us buying more items from the buy to win shop.
I have to say I disagree completely with the idea of waiting for one big “everything is fixed” patch. The biggest issues with this method are that when it does arrive it may be just as bad or worse than how it is now. We don’t know what they are tweaking and if it really addresses any of the issues that we deal with playing the class regularly. Also in waiting what may be upwards of 6 months for fixes to the basic operation of the class many people are simply going to quit or move on to the OP classes. I know personally I consider my necro my main but have leveled a thief and now working on a guardian just because I feel they are two of the most completed classes. Having played all three I can also honestly see how thiefs or guardians will get on here and argue they are not OP. And in many ways they are right, its just that everyone else is broke to the point they feel really OP. Lastly I feel that Anet is really hurting themselves in the way they are treating the community. In regards to the necro class specifically there has been some vale of silence as to what if anything is in the works for a class they openly acknowledge has 100 bugs. And if the community tries to speak out in any way to get answers they lock the thread and hand out infractions…
Is there going to be a patch this week? I have not been into the game prior to this week enough to notice but is there a regular “patch day” or maintenance time? I’m just curious because I want to buy my god set and temple of grenth has been bugged for the last 5 days.
Since the devs have made it known that they are watching and listening to feedback I just wanted to toss out a few ideas to fix the necromancer class as well as my personal priority list to fix existing issues.
-To begin with I feel that pet ai needs to be a big priority as well as adding a decent amount of aoe resist inherently to pets. The necro is advertised as a pet/disease class and right now in any pve other than single player grinding pets are a liability at best.
-healing traits and siphon health needs to be fixed, re-evaluated, and buffed. Our main heals are good but the traits honestly dont seem to be working right at all in most cases. Also has been mentioned before our siphons which are a long time staple of the necro themed character are very weak. I would like to see the health gained increased moderately as well as maybe a gain to life force or maybe even endurance when they are used.
-I personally would like to see a 5th or even 6th skill added to DS that is weapon based. I feel this would allow DS to be fun again rather than just a means to soak damage and spam DS#1. Depending on the weapon equipped the skill could be more oriented towards DD, condition damage, or defensive depending on the players desire.
- Condition damage is about right, and in general I don’t think the necro is a class that should have a ton of huge burst damage. That being said I think we do need a bit more burst than we have now. Maybe add a way that it can be linked to stacking conditions such as a skill modification that allows us to eat a stack of bleeds or poisons and cause a burst of damage on the target. As it stand now we simply are trying to max/maintain our stack in most cases. This would add a more interactive element of having to choose to maintain or consume to cause a spike damage to a target.
I have several other ideas as well but I don’t want to right a book here putting off anyone who may want to consider these ideas and give there own feedback on what they feel needs work. Hopefully the devs do read this and consider these options as well as those of others who may reply.
I was just thinking of making a similar post myself after looking back over 20 pages and seeing only 2 dev posts. In all fairness tho its probably hard to get on here and post a sentence or two when the is halloween stuff to nerf.
I agree with tigs, I “farmed” this thing for about 2 hours when it first came out yesterday because I wanted the set just to have a halloween set. In that 2 hours i opened about 10 chests containing all green and one mad kings chest. I had to go to work and now when I get home the chests have been nerfed to once a day and 1 item…Of my 2 hours yesterday I made all of 20 silver which is less than i can get farming orr in 10 minutes. I get making it 1 item, and even adjusting drop rates but once a day is beyond stupid. I might as well scrap or sell the chest now because I will never see the rest of the set. Why couldn’t they just make it account bound or soulbound and lower the drop rate instead of killing the event? Honestly I love this game and have defended it repeatedly but after the fiasco that this first big event has been I am really getting disheartened with Anet.
I sadly have to say I’m beginning to agree with the OP. I really like this game (which is really saying something being my main is a necro), but the cash grab is getting out of hand fast. What seems to be bothering me most is that Anet seems to be tweaking the game in a way to make more and more money. I recall my 1st week playing I got like 5-6 BL keys just playing the game. I thought this is decent I can get them farming or if I want to save time buy them. Since the first patch I don’t believe I have seen 1 key and I have about 120 BL chests in the bank. The key to a game like this is that players need to feel like most things they can reasonably attain or accomplish by playing as an alternative to saving time and buying. Maybe you can currently…but right now I personally don’t feel this way and I think many other players feel the same way.
Anyone else hope Anet does not do halloween costumes in the same manner as they did the costume armor? I really don’t mind collecting/buying transmute stones for my gear but throw us a bone and give us some costumes we can KEEP for FREE.
The only luck I have had with mesmers is running a hefty vitality, toughness, DS, type build. Wade in dropping wells to kill clones and just outlasting them. Then pray you can actually finish them in there ungodly OP downed state. If they ever do fix necro we will probably end up being the best class to counter mesmers as out dots and aoe are perfect at combating clones, its just right now necro is so broken it don’t work out that way.
This may be a dumb question, but how do I put something back into my pvp locker? I just started to pvp this week and I was wearing most of the magician set. Now I have some light armor called dry bones I want to wear for a bit but it wont let me put my magicians set back because I put signets in it. Is there some way to remove signets or do I just have to destroy the gear?
