It is not about the question if there are soloQers more or players interested to play in a team more.

God, people please understand this that Tennis players and Football team cant be playing the same tournament!!!

Anet PvP development team if you have just some simplest of common sense please create Solo, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 modes and all these arguments will meet their decisive end tbh.

Your sports comparison is horrible and makes no sense.

The most logical sports comparison is basket ball. Its 5 vs 5 and just like this game rotations is the majority of the game. Teams who might not be as athletic but better fundamentally can win championships left and right. Recently spoken about the Spurs and Mavs.

Its why there are so many complaint threads, you have people talking every direction not understanding what each moment means.

For instance one person made the comment that you have a 10% effect on the game which is incorrect. A great player can change games all by themselves. Ive written post arguing this. I was in a match we should of won but Zoose on a engy won a 1 vs 2 at our home node which turned it into a 3 cap for the enemy team with 25 pts for us left to score to win. I saw tarcis win a 1 vs 1 vs a warrior running the exact same build and cap our home point. Then we went on to hold a 1 vs 2 and drop a team mate into the down state. His team mates back back off of respawn to take mid which we won but had to leave since they won there home node and the far node.

Your comparing sports where its a player by himself and a sport where 1 player can not make a difference.

If you give me a ESL player and the rest of us are 5 in the MM. And we face a team full of 6’s. The team im on will win because we have a player who will consistently win his 1 vs 1 and be better in the team fights.

Just like in the NBA, having a star player can make the difference in a clse game unlike football where having Andrew Luck or Adrian Peterson doesnt really mean anything.

Everyone is seriously acting like Anet doesnt know who the best players are. In s2 and S3 people got to legendary and didnt lose any matches. There match making system has a idea who the best player in the game is.

They are simply trying to find the most corporate way of making a league workt hat makes everyone happy and still forces player to play alot of games. Solo/duo que wont fix any of the real issues.

Can we have more Dungeon?

ANet no longer has a dungeon team and has committed its resources elsewhere. We will not be getting more dungeons, and quite frankly I’m OK with that given the positive trends for Fractal and Raid development.

OK with 1 new fractal and broken raids?

Do you think Anet said ohh crap we need to change something since people are 3 man killing raid bosses?

Right like your old dungeon content is super easy because it was set up for exotic armor and 30-30-10 stats. Now we have 30-30-30 stats with ascended armor and buffed up HOT spec lines. Now people have found problems with the HOT spec lines that can exploit raids.

I mean if Anet wants to say that raids are the challenging end content fine but can they at least make it so classes/teams play the way it was suppose to be played?

I mean they have killed PvP/WvW/ and core Gw2 stuff and come to find out that there high end content for TEAM PLAY can be soloed cant be a good thing.

Players are crying for SOLOQ the day they DELETE IT.

Removing it was bad.

Removing TEAM Q is bad.

But Anet can’t find proper solution other than DELETE THIS or THAT.

That’s fine. It DELETE my seriousness about this game.

My prediction in Season 12, they will DELETE the PVP TEAM.

@Ardid – You just summed up part of what it means to be a chaotic good character though. That’s the whole point, if she did things the same way you would and you expect her to, with no surprises and whatnot, then she wouldn’t even be chaotic good, she would be lawful or neutral good.

Whether you agree with her methods or not, her intentions are clear and that is good enough for me and others. I don’t understand why so many people in this community seem to have such a huge problem grasping that though.

I DO think Caithe is working for the greater good. I DO believe the commander itself also believes that. That has never been the point for me at least. IMO She IS GOOD.

BUT.

Being good DON’T prevent you from making mistakes, and DON’T excuse you from being accountable for your faults. Being good also DON’T make you less stupid, unpredictable or dangerous. Being good doesn’t make you less a liability, specially when you have demonstrated, once and again, that your good choices hurt people.

The Commander shouldn’t never, ever, trust Caithe with anything, much less with a young dragon.

My point has never been “Caithe is evil”. My point has always been “Caithe is guilty”.

Good =/= Not-Guilty.

I don’t understand why so many people in this community seem to have such a huge problem grasping that though.

Its because everyone is looking at the full picture.

Take into account your personal story, the Zhaitan story, Living World Story and throw in the fact that you are suppose to be friends with Caithe. The Sylvari helped out so much against Zhaitan with Caithe and Trahearne being huge parts of it.

Your character doesnt seem to really care that you personally cut down the commander the pact. Your character didnt seem to care much about the pale tree and you werent much of a friend to Caithe when she messed up.

You say you should never trust her and you also talk about how no one is perfect. Its a high and mighty stance to take when saying you should never trust her as well as saying shes guilty.

I mean your the commander and yet Marjory is telling you what your gonna do? There is a ton of things that could be pointed out that show the commander is kind of a dumb punching bag.

Serious Question at what point where premades stopping you?

Serious answer:
Tier 2.
I could get through 1 one pretty well, 95% if pug.
Then I get to tier 2. It gets tedious, 50/50 pugs and premades. You progress if you have 2-3 good pugs in a row.
Then comes Tier 3. I don’t think I’ve won a single tier 3 fight in season 3 and 4 because come tier 3, 99.9% of all encounters were against premades.
So yea,

A few things here,

If you want to complain about the MM system making games 50/50 and you are unable to progress. That is a fair argument and i would agree that a 50/50 is a terrible system for PvP when its progression based.

That is not a premade issue

Im pretty sure we have all ran into premades, the question becomes were they literally stopping you from progressing or was it a even match? In season 1 i faced Team PZ 4 out of 5 matches in a row and everyone in the match was in legendary and i was not. That was frustrating and i made a complaint thread because i honestly felt a little cheated having to face a 4 man ESL team right when i was 1-2 pips away from legendary. Its not facing them that upsetme but the fact i didnt get some silly title. Ill play these guys all day long if Anet wants but give me my title and rewards and i will gladly play these matches. This was a premade issue but i still got to Legendary 2 and would of made it to 3 if it wasnt for que times.

S2 and S3 i and a bunch of other players literally walked into legendary in around 150 games and S2 we started in amber. In season 1-3 i saw more then a handful of ESL players solo queing. I saw trackstar, tarcis, OE, fivegauge, Zoose, kaypud etc etc etc.

The question i have for you is were these premades made up of great players or were you put into a 50/50 match up?

The argument of premades shouldnt be in ranked should be based upon whether or not the majority of premades can stomp pug groups. You said yourself you got stuck in S3 and 4. Did you feel potentially that this was the area you belonged?

No, this will not solve all problems in pvp but it will make things more fair. And if you have a separate queue that’s supposed to be competitive(ranked) it needs to be as fair as you can make it otherwise it’s not competitive. Being able to make teams with different classes and builds that synergize and have the ability to communicate more efficiently gives you an advantage.
Is this the biggest problem with pvp right now? I wouldn’t say so, but by not having a fair competitive mode is hurting the enjoyment of pvp and the how gw2 is seen as a competitive game. So there is absolutely value to what Helseth says. The fairness must come first at the expense of ranked teamqueue, otherwise the ranked queue is pointless and we can get rid of it. If we could have a both would be the perfect scenario but that probably won’t happen unless the teamscence gets bigger. Teamqueues would probably be quite long.

That would be a great argument if classes were balanced.

When we had solo que, the best players got to number 1 using legit builds and there were turret engys every where but they were never in the top 100.

There was balance because there was multiple builds you could play.

How can you say this is fair when X-Y-Z have not been addressed? Class stacking, profession balance and styles of play. They keep introducing 4 stat amulets, how about they actually do it and get rid of some of the terrible amulets. Also bring pack some of the older runes that they took out.

Right now PvP is poop and they are simply dunking it into chocolate and now people are saying ohhh now it will be a little better. Until you bite into it and then Anet will say sorry we wont do any balance patching till next quarter, enjoy the delicous desert we have left you with.

Excellent post. Helseth is a great player but really nothing compelling in the video from him this time around. The main problem with the game as far as I am concerned is the matchmaking. They still have not really figured out how to put players of the same skill level in a match together without a poision pill player (players well below the skill level of everyone else in the match) or two getting mixed in and if they get stacked on one of the teams its all over and the match will be horrible. Eliminating the chance to face a premade once in awhile is not going to fix issues like that. Four years in and we still don’t have a basic system that works and we are still making gigantic changes.

You realise this goes hand in hand with the other changes right? If we assume they’re making the individual skill based ladder system as they say they are, premades rly have no place there anymore.

what has Anet done PvP wise in the last 2 years that makes you believe they will put a working system in place?

For one they keep talking about it. Will they succeed at doing so? Who knows, all I know is this poll pretty much decides whether they should even try bothering. Might as well keep it as is if premades can stomp solo queuers in a proper rank system.

Sorry had to quit watching when he kept repeating that guardian is slow, no mobilty etc etc for 2 minutes.

Also lets just cut it to whats the problem, build diversity in HOT.

Pre HOT shout guardian (best bunker/support in game), burn guardian (best condi burst in game), dps medi guardian (really good in ranked que)

3 builds that were useful in the game. HOT comes in and kills it, with raids being the focal point of the game. Do you even believe that anet cares about PvP balance?

If you main guardian, thief, warrior and want to be in ESL i guess its like the raid comments in the forums " ESL isnt meant for everyone" which is basically saying go **** yourself.

Anet is dropping bombs in a boxing match and people actually believe premades are the issue.

I have 3-4 other players in this guild team. Obviously you saw one in amber. Now he played 3-4 matches in amber and said it wasnt worth the time. He was winning 1 vs 2 all over the map. He teamed up another day with our thief who was in emerald and they actually took a screen print of them winning a 2 vs 4 on the far node.

Heres the crazy thing, we went 15-9 season 1 in legendary (this isnt a great thing since the match making for teams were all over the place) and then we went 12-7 in season 2.They cant compete with other legit legendary players but yet they do beat people with the legendary rank symbol.

Then Anet separates all these players in 6 different divisions. Who in the company thought this was gonna be a good idea?

Ok so i just watched the video. Ill start by saying that helseth is the best on these videos. Simply put he has the most personality and great insight at high level play. He also does the best job of breaking down matches and explaining why he does things.

With that said lets break the video down.

First he talks about old leader boards. He is talking about that carrot for people to play for. Anet doesnt know how to do this, they got rid of ranked leveling because it was too hard for casuals. They got rid of alot of things and they have yet to bring back any reward system.

Second he brings up team ques/MMR/ and que time. He states “he never team ques” and he also implied the people on his team because there is no challenge for them. So if this is the case why are there so many complaint threads?

He speaks about que time which has been a issue all 4 seasons. GW2 is liteally taking the fun out of the game with the PiP system and 10+ min que times. He talked about playing for fun/competitively and its really hard to do that when you might get only 1 game in a hour.

Third he talks about bad players in Legendary rank. This also falls on Anet for simply making a bad system. I dont see how we can blame premades when the top ESL players are not grouping up together all the time, que times are really long and when people are not in the right division but either grinded there way to the top by playing other bad players.

He contradicts himself in the video alot. Im all for creating a competitve scene but it has to be done well. Anet is throwing darts a board with there ideas. Balance is poor, rewards are poor, system was grindy, and the icing on the cake is match making doesnt work. If you do not fix match making with rewards that reflect a person playing at that level. It will awesome be broken premade or not.

I left a screen print from S3. This was me and my guild team mates getting a team into the top 25 for the guild decoration.

Both of these team mates have been in the TOL 1-2 with me. Neither one play PvP alot but the ruby player has almost all the PvP titles and got to diamond twice int he season and did not care to push for legendary. The 2nd player understands his class and understands the other classes and isnt higher then level 60 in PvP.

This is whats wrong with the system, this game is over 4 years old and it still does not know how it wants to rate/reward/ and simply put players in the right divisions for fair play.

Im having a real issues with the story lines as well. Ive done the living sotry with 3 characters. 1 a female asura ranger, 2 a male norn warrior and 3 a male sylvari rev.

In all cases i feel like something is wrong, for instance on my asura i dont seem to know anything yet my GW2 story says i should be really intelligent and should be near a level of zojja and tamis which i am not.

My male norn back story is heart and bear and with a troubling past. Alot of his story line is helping others and fixing wrongs in his past since i wasnt perfect. Yet i judged caithe after all shes been threw and when Eir died im just there. I feel stupid at times because this is not how my character would act in any situation with the back story anet gave him.

The the sylvari one gets me the most, how do you not love the pale tree? As a sylvari you killed trahearne, saw faolin die and saw lets just say hundreds of thousands of your people change/die/ treated unfairly by others for simply being sylvari. As someone of mix decent, none of the lines coming from this characters mouth even make sense.

Obviously Anet couldnt put out a story that worked with there core idea of story and its been changed since then. No longer with the heart/fist/wisdom actions. Taking all that away its still a poor story which is sad since GW1 was god like in story and lore.

Right now GW2 is living off the mechanics which are ahead of every other MMO because the HOT story has been dropped flat on its face.

I see people making threads all the time of CLOSE GAMES losing to a premade. Why is this a bad thing?

The real issues with PvP are

1-Balance/roles
2- Class stacking
3-Match making
4- League system
5- reward system
6- start adding your own

Helseth saying something doesnt it make it better either way. Next we will have thread posts about something else broken are not fair in the solo/duo que system.

Quit trying to say the problem is premades when 90% of the premades in the game are casual groups and when there are only 25 legit players who are better then the majority of us. The question becomes how does this help anyone?

Gold Rewards and PvP

PvP has less rewards to discourage PvE’ers from using it as a gold farm.

SW:TOR had this problem in it’s early days where people would just sit on the offnode and afk for the rewards. It wasn’t even that great of a farm but it was done anyways because afk’ing matches was deemed easier than PvE farming.

Such is why we can’t have nice things.

PvE 1 hour=100g

and

PvP 1 hour = 2 gold

My god if there was only some way to create a BALANCE so that everyone could benefit. ( makes funny face and puts hand on chin in deep thinking attitude)

No but seriously, Anet made PvP rranks easy for PvE players, Anet got rid of ticket tournaments, Anet got rid of leader boards, Anet got rid of the PvP vendors/skins so they could merge it into PvE.

It be nice if they actually did something positive for PvP or WvW.

Gold Rewards and PvP

I cant believe people actually argue against better rewards for PvP.

I got to legendary S1, S2 and S3 but i decided not to really bother S4 because of time purposes.

I missed out on alot money by playing PvP. Instead of farming AB, TD and DS i was sitting in the HOTM getting to legendary. I had guild mates getting 100 ectos in 1 hour. I made about 2 gold a hour and they were literally making 200g a day from farming meta events for a couple hours.

People are saying play PvP for fun which i get but come on. I have a guild hall, can i get some decent decorations for it? World Bosses in the core game give decorations, Raids gives out tons of everything such as new skins- guild decorations- potential legendary armor- minis- and gold to boot. Why is it so wrong to ask for anything in PvP?

The PvP community get mini llamas and those guild challenger trophies. Thats it, in WvW you will make for gold and karma but you dont really get anything fun to play with.

Anet hjas given everything to people who play HOT content, why is it wrong to simply ask for more in other areas of the game?

Please balance PvP and PvE seperately.

Let me be CLEAR; “I personally agree with having it separate”, but I’m going to play devils advocate here just to make sure people also have this in mind when they start rooting for this change.

One of pvps biggest problems is lack of new players or having existing players becoming more interested in pvp. If you separate balance between the two modes, it’ll give pve players or new players to the game another reason not to enter. Why? because not only do they have to learn the pvp game mode and all of its jargon, they also have to learn a whole new class balance with their choose profession. Your going to hear even more talk of people saying, “oh this class is great in pve, but is terrible in pvp,” which will make it even harder for new players or existing to settle on a class they want to main.

However, I doubt the balance team would ever completely change a class so much that it would require relearning it, if everything was completely separate. I’d assume only a few skills would get the “PVP only” tag next to it. The rest, remaining the same.

I agree with that which is a big reason not to split.

You would then need more people for PvP balance, PvE, WvW and fractals. Everyone thinking something else and each game mode being different.

Simply put i would not have separate builds from each but simply base the game around PvP and to a lesser extent WvW.

PvE bosses, raids, events health bars-dps- mechanics can all be changed. In PvP and WvW small changes can destroy builds. They changed rifle warriors trait to penetrate and now it simply gives adrenaline on hits which is a horrible trait.

Honestly just take a look at the leagues and WvW and you can see why there is so much player frustration. They came out with leagues and everyone was like awesome but with in the first season you saw 2 useless classes as well as the leader board being taken away.

They trolled WvW players with the super speed golems and taking away human interaction with camps, tower, keeps,SMC. Now the mixing of servers and changing the server teams over and over.

It is like Anet is having a monkey throw darts at a board with all there ideas and choosing the ones he hits.

First, you have pointed nothing out other then some people use it in raids.

Nothing else, you say you use the drazah build from S3 but you are comparing yourself to the team who dominated S3 and S4 finals. They dominated with only 2 games really being close against 55 dragons.

At no point does that make it a legit build, especially since they dropped it very quickly for S4. Simply being they have the best 1 vs 1 player in EU in Rom and he was taking on the 1 vs 1 with the condi mesmer taking the 1 vs 1 people would rotate to.

Also no engy did any 1 vs 1 except maybe Olrun who lost to tarcis which is probably why he picked up thief.

Using words of ESL players dont make them true especially when they were winning 500-200 in every game with or without a warrior. Sword is near useless in PvP and WvW and you yourself saying you dont use it just adds to it.

You are literally arguing for a weapon that you have now stated you dont use in PvP. It isnt any good for WvW and im pretty sure everyone on the warrior forum cana gree with that. Then you try using raids on VG to justify it when literally people are healing threw greens and not even worrying about the mechanics.

You can say you use it, thats fine. You tried arguing its necessary for teams in raids and then you back pedal and say well any team can run anything. You then say you dont use sword in PvP. Im recapping it all for you since in your own words you back tracked and acknowledged you dont use sword.

Ive clearly made my points and not changed my stance on any of them. Sword is a near useless weapon in the game for warrior, warrior is not a dominant force in PvP and will lose to multiple classes in 1 vs 1 at the highest level especially if they use sword and even pointed out that the DPS greatsword PS warrior is used threw out the game far more since it is the clear alpha.

You also have said “You have no idea about how often I pvp or wvw” when i simply said i bet ive done more then you. I stand by everything ive said and you are simply back tracking and started talking about other things which you are also incorrect about.

In speech and debate your suppose to make your points and support them, you have a post about how you need X amount of warriors in a post then you simply said the next post well you can obviously beat a raid boss with any class. You are waddling and struggling to make sure your point originally that sword is useful. Im yet to see it and i end it with you dont even use it yourself which you have already stated.

You are simply making the argument now that anything can be useful depending on what the group wants which is what i basically said except you are now saying that you want 1 warrior in a group.

Also no rev beats warrior 1 vs 1. Especially a power warrior if they are both of good skill quality.

A revs enchanting daggers goes threw warriors endure the pain. Also a well timed staff 5 takes out over 12k and combo into 2 different blocks and stun breakers. Its why you saw tarcis using a rev at the start of S1 Pro League go to rev. As well as Rom now playing ranger. Tarcis brought it back for the last ESL but only really because of the 1 class stack rule.

If you go back and watch the ESL, tarcis lost a 1 vs 1 to phanta on druid. A good rev can take on any 1 vs 1 and stalemate for a long time. Rev has been the hard counter to DH in 1 vs 1 and warriors as well. Rev is the jack of all trades class right now capable of anything so saying its role isnt 1 vs 1 is a bit off.

Also i never said how much you PvP or WvW but simply that you havent done it was much as i have.

I was thinking the same thing without the warrior but it was fine.

We killed Vg and Gors in 4 runs. Failed each boss once.

Also i would say im not gonna see it your way simply because im seeing more and more people basically have no need for a warrior.

In PvP its kind of behind rev and ranger in 1 vs 1 and doesnt bring as much DPS as a necro in team fights.

In PvE its works fine doing anything but you can just wish for more since other classes have it.

Then in raids, simply put im seeing less and less need for them. Thieves are being looked at more for heavy damage, eles seem to be a must for DPS and some heals, obviously the bunker mesmer and druids. Every raid is simply mesmer,,rev, 2 tempest, 1-2 druids and fill in the gaps.

The guild group im in carried me through some bosses since im not great at the sab fight. Basically they won that 8 man and a friend of mine is in a guild that sells raid. They use 2 thieves in there 8 man team to sell them and they only run 1 ps greatsword warrior.

Im more then willing to bet you have more experience in raids then I but im pretty sure i have more WvW and PvP experience and am only going off what the people in raids are telling me and my personal opinion on warrior. I honestly feel that the people who use condi warrior have a role but simply are not needed.

If i could point out that on meta battle PS DPS warrior has a rating of 100 and the condi build you spoke of has a rating of 82.

Fractal has same scores for DPS Greatsword 100 and condi being 82.

WvW same thing, DPS warrior rating 95, next build is shouts at 90.

Just because someone uses a build and makes it work doesnt make it viable. I use rifle in PvP and ive had people ask me mu build. Then 2 days later i see them back on mace/shield- long bow and simply put its easier.

Also the raid guild im in prefer DPS warrior over condi and they said that necro/engy and even ranger can do condi damage better then warrior. The warrior is there to give might in raids and give as much DPS as possible.

The meta battle scores are pretty irrelevant. Many of the lower votes were put in well before the build was complete or realized as being strong.

This again also does not matter because warrior isn’t compared to those classes. When making a raid team you never think…“hmm should i take another warrior or a necro/engi/ranger?”. Either you have 2 warriors or you don’t and you should. Not 1, not 3. Condi warrior does give might and in some fights gives more DPS than the power build.

Wing 1
- VG = Having at least 1 condi is better because they can provide range might and buff the red guardian team
- Gor = Both are pretty strong and have their own pros/cons. I like condi when doing no updraft but power when you go to an updraft because you need to rebuild might quickly when flying back into the fight.
- Sabetha = Condi is better because of her positioning and Karde is extra vulnerable to conditions.

Wing 2:
Sloth = Power is a bit better I think because it provides stronger CC and you don’t lose might from swapping out of GS. Also he does clear conditions.
Trio = Doesn’t really matter cuz its EZ but condi is probably better because of Narella needing burn damage to light the kegs on fire.
Matthias: Condi is way better and you should ideally run both warriors on condi for clearing icy patches and ranged damage is very valuable in this fight.

Wing 3:
Escort = Both are fine, however condi warrior is probably best class in the game as locking down and killing the wargs. I typically solo 3-4 of them when doing this encounter.
KC = Power damage is king on all classes
Xera = Both are strong but I typically run condi because we usually have a few necros so stronger Epidemics.

Totals:
Condi: 4
Power: 2
Both are strong: 3

Not so clear cut?

On VG 1 power warrior, 2 necros, 2 druids, 1 mesmer, 1 rev, 2 tempest. 1 thief

On gors 4 eles, 2 revs, 1 mesmer, 1 thief, 2 druids

On sab 3 necros, 3 tempest, 1 thief, 1 druid, 1 mesmer, 1 rev

Im sorry but i disagree completely, i can take screen prints next time. This was a pug group and the person running it saw no reason for a warrior period and they allowed it for VG for banners.

The raid guild im in has a A raid team and a B raid team who clear all 3 wings twice a week and they only run 1 power PS warrior. And they too will take it out/trade it for a thief,Dh,or tempest.

Once again im sorry but im seeing more and more people take warriors out of team comps and when people say i got a condi warrior. The team always ask “do you have anything else”?

Like i dont know if you did the 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 tournaments in the past but it was kind of the same people winning all those and then they went to ESL, then Pro League.

They way you keep phrasing it and typing it makes it sound like you dont believe they are the best players in the game and that this “new” system will bring other players together and take down the Evil Empire of ESL top tier teams.

I have to stop and say you are certainly a fan boy

Ok a few things

1- The games system is great. The style of play and the way you play the game is the best of the best. The reason we complain is because its not balanced at all. I did T4 fractals yesterday and we had a druid who could out heal old toms room. We didnt activate the fan once and straight killed him. Balancing a game around raids kills every aspect of the game. Sure raids are alot of fun and rewarding when your in a group that does it. But what about those who are not raiding and enjoy the other aspects of the game and see all the flaws in PvP, WvW, dungeons, fractals and PvE?

2- Do you honestly believe that the ESL players are not as good as advertised? I can not tell you how many people say this and then get wrecked. There was literally a forum post by someone (i remember who if you want me to say it) who was constantly bashing Five Gauge. They 1 vs 1 and Five Gauge took a screen shot of the player talking smack in down state and with him still with over 80% health and a heal skill available. We had a solo que and you can look up who had a number 1# ranking. Guess what your gonna see noscoc, tarcis, toker, OE, your gonna see all the same people in these tournaments.

3- Lastly what does making solo-duo que do? If match making is bad how is it fixed? Lets stop pretending that all premades are the same. Season 1 MM had me face team PZ 4 out 5 matches. Guess what the team i was on scored 100 pts each time, against other premades i had won. I have a screen print of my Guild Team winning a 3 vs 5. Is that us being OP or MM screwing the other team or us? You cant hide a problem by throwing a blanket over it. At someone point someone is gonna realize that the problem is still here and that is just has a blanket.

Dont praise Anet PvP until they actually deliver. We dont know when the next PvP season, maybe they post pone it for a long time. No one knows, lets say they dont balance anything and let build diversity to remain the same. Will you be like guys we are heading in a good direction?

This right here, you shouldn’t be able to beat a rev on a power build.

Question for anyone,

Why do they keep introducing new currency with nothing to buy with them?

Bloodstone fen magic, Ember Bay wood, Shards of glory for PvP, gift of battle memoirs for WvW and I and some of my guild mates have endless amounts of these now.

Its kind of become like karma to where people now have millions and millions of stuff/items that are utterly useless. In the case of WvW and PvP why even introduce these items?

Then he comes out with a post that Anet will do nothing, Wow great thanks for the update …………………..

Nothing has changed, i did my fracs today and i was with 3 necros and 1 druid. today we had old tom, aetherblade, and the molten boss.

The reason i say old tom is because the 3 necros stacked minions so the robot couldnt hit us and the druid out healed the room dps. We didnt use the fans and the necros easily stacked over 100 bleeds on top of other condi.

Who honestly thought the toughness scaling changed anything? It makes it better for Zerk/maruder characters to do fracs but when nothing else is changed the meta stays the meta.

On the aetherblade frac the 3 necros lived threw the robots and laser fields and simply stacked condi on all the robots with epi and killed the bots in about 30 sec.

Now the molten boss was hilarious, alot of groups without necros can struggle when the little lava monsters pop and he goes into ball form. They immediately broke his ball form and epi the lava monsters and they almost all died in like 10 sec.

There is literally no straight power build that even compares to amount of damage a necro can put out in fractals/dungeons/raids.

We never could stack condi when dungeons where the big thing to run. Now you can stack condi like candy in the back of a van on halloween.

We have druids/ele that can out heal areas of the game for fracs. We have necros that can spread condi out faster then power players can smash the 1 button.

Ive said this for PvP but it applies to frac/ dungeons/ and core tyria.

When the game is based around raid builds the game will break. I know way more people who dont raid then do raid and the devs in the game are changing skills in the game for raids. I understand that dungeons were messed up because they didnt balance around dungeons and now they are incredibly easy but meta builds are super OP now. You are having the same raid builds across the game. At no point does changing toughness level change what they have done to balance to the game.

No attack should depend on negation

There should not be skills that depend on blocking/evading/invulerability to negate because Reapers were designed to tank hits with shroud as its defensive tool and shroud does not negate attacks.
Creating skills that require the opponent to have to negate it is unfair to Reapers.

For example, adrenal health from berserker’s primal burst. You can’t tank this otherwise the berserker heals and heals. This is extremely unfair to reapers who basically depend on shroud as its main defensive mechanism to tank and take the hit.

I complained a lot about how OP berserker’s primal burst AH healing are as a Reaper. But when I switched to dragonhunter, this problem was manageable and surmountable. I had the tools to fight a berserker. Blocks.

As a reaper, this problem is not manageable and not surmountable. Reaper is the only class that fails completely at damage negation. We were designed to tank and giving enemy skills that require negation and not tanking is extremely unfair to reapers because we got no negation to counter those skills.

So let me get this straight if I may; you are saying that Necro/Reaper requires more skill to play and you find it harder than Dragonhunter so therefore it should be made easier for you?

If i could point out that on meta battle PS DPS warrior has a rating of 100 and the condi build you spoke of has a rating of 82.

Fractal has same scores for DPS Greatsword 100 and condi being 82.

WvW same thing, DPS warrior rating 95, next build is shouts at 90.

Just because someone uses a build and makes it work doesnt make it viable. I use rifle in PvP and ive had people ask me mu build. Then 2 days later i see them back on mace/shield- long bow and simply put its easier.

Also the raid guild im in prefer DPS warrior over condi and they said that necro/engy and even ranger can do condi damage better then warrior. The warrior is there to give might in raids and give as much DPS as possible.

I could ask the other raid guild im in since they do all 3 wings twice a week but they have core players who run it and raids are kind of eyes closed rotations for them at this point and could do it on almost any build/team comp set up.

Also its obvious Anet doesnt care about weapon balance, utility skill balance, Elite Skill balance.

This is a thread pointing that out but you are simply arguing your point of view when that isnt the topic of the thread nor is it a real response to the person you are trying to suggest that your 10+ stacks of bleeding actually is efficient.

Edit- Lol i cant believe i didnt add this, in PvP, PvE, WvW i have a full trap ranger. I can get 30 stacks of bleeds, 5 burn, 5 psn with some other condi in 5 sec. So yeah that sword damage you mentioned, yeah i guess it works for you.

I am sorry to burst your bubbles guys, but in this community there is a lot of people that wanted challenging content and they have been neglected heavily so far, before HoT came out, because lets admit it. Central Tyria open world is a walk in the park. Its so casually easy, where you can faceroll everything in your path that its borderline redicilous. HoT maps are 4, oppose to all the maps in Central Tyria and they are meant to be high end maps. If you find such difficulty in them, then brace for a rude awakening – you are NOT ready to play in them. Yes, that means you need to step up your game and get better. That does not mean you need to spend countless hours grinding profitable maps to get the best gear possible, no. HoT maps are easily doable with exotics. You just need to know your class, your skills, you need to put some effort into learning the design of the maps and the mechanics of the enemies. To get this masteries and make your life that much easier and above all start using that mystical LFG tool that everyone points you towards, but you obviously never heard of. Seriously… oppose to appreciating all the hard work and ingenious design and concept that went into HoT you complain and complaing, for what? Because you can’t be bothered to -think- while you play a video game? Since when a video games were meant to be played without putting any effort or thought in the way you play them? When/if such day comes I think I will be done playing video games myself.

I have to disagree,

HOT maps didnt bring harder content. It just brought forced map content.

I love Verdint Brink, i can solo a few of the champions and i can do all the events by myself. It may take longer alone but its playable. Literally there are times were it feels its just me and 2 other people on the map. Yet 2 days ago I and 3 other people killed the legendary matriarch dragon. It was still fun.

AB,TD,DS all require the meta event and large coordinated groups to get done. Its like Triple Double except a majority of the players are walking in it for the first time. All you here on these 3 maps are the lanes that need more people.

My biggest problem with these 3 maps are quests to do when the meta event sint going on. I was doing Ogre events in TD and after 1 event i realized that its basically all done. Everyone had done the events to keep teh NPC happy and then most of the people left until the meta event was coming. The commander actually said 55 min till meta event.

This isnt quality content, it isnt challenging content. Raids challenge your mechanical skills and gear, PvP challenges your ability to multitask and theory craft, WvW challenges your ability to understand different levels on defensive and offensive strategy.

HOT maps (besides verdint brink) challenges player to grind away at meta events. Anet has a AP/title for doing the AB meta event 100 times.

I agree people wanted challenging events but since sivlerwastes, shatterer rework, Triple Trouble, Tequatl, everything Anet has put forward is really zerg minded events focus on lane control.

Ill give you the most honest answer,

PvP isnt fun anymore, the constant spam of everyone skills. It kind of blurs together and it is so obvious when someone isnt using a meta build.

When you see the DPS ele/ sword thief/ pistol-pistol engy/ etc etc these players/ builds become targets in a game.

So now you have people only playing PvP for AP points, easy titles, and in my case PvP potions for dailies.

That’s an easy question to answer: because not everyone cares about hitting the pinnacle of flavour of the month performance.

Here is a question back at you on the same vein: Why is it such a concern to you that sword ‘has no purpose’? Warrior has more weapon access than any other class. Do you think it’s a realistic that every weapon has some purpose to fill? how about the purpose of just “I like using sword and condition damage”. Seems reasonable to me.

Not even that. I’m not talking about a ‘right to exist’ at all. It’s much simpler. Believe it or not, there are people that make choices based on theme, not performance. Sword fits a theme … the “I want to play sword” theme. It’s not hard to understand .. unless of course a person can’t imagine that people play this way.

Its perfectly fine to have a theme, its why this game has some of the cooler skins and character looks of any game.

But we are talking about the content of the game. You cant take a condi warrior, guardian, thief, into a raid/fractal and expect people to be happy if the group isnt doing well.

You cant go into WvW or PvP and expect to do well with 75% of the weapons in this game. You can say i made this number up but please take a scepter/focus ele into PvP and say you are useful. Or when is the last time you saw a sword thief in PvP?

I understand theme, its the only reason why ive had a mace on my charr guardian. But trying to say that mace is useful is a bit of a stretch.

In game tournaments ( we use to have tickets to enter them)

A real leveling system ( i know you cant take this back but its kitten that people can walk into this game and get to dragon in 2 months when alot of people played for years and only got to shark)

Rewards ( raids get guild trophys, would bosses give guild rewards, PvP got s1-4 trophys that look all the same)

Any day now i expect WvW or PvP to get anything after the blanket Anet put on them pretending they didnt exist.

Sword/Torch+LB condi PS is meta for many fractals and raid encounters in PvE. Not every weapon is going to be meta in every game mode. You don’t see similar comparisons on ele forums saying that staff is “pretty dumb” because it isn’t used well in PvP?

This is where you are incorrect, staff is huge in WvW, PvE, raids and such but staff ele was also the weapon of choice by EU in the Pro Leagues season 1 before it became 2 mesmer/ 2 rev and X class.

Before HOT staff was the bunker build of cantrip eles, secepter focus being fresh air build did the most dps of the ele builds and d/d being the meta. At no point was 1 actually stronger then the other simply used differently in team comps.

Each meta in PvP forces certain skills/traits to come out. Since HOT came out its simply been this build is best for everything.

See i agree that a weapon can have its place but warrior has greatsword then X weapon. That goes for every area of the game, i honestly prefer a dps greatsword warrior with rifle over a condi warrior in fractals. The Might stacks are constant 25 and your landing 15k damage on staff 5 rev and sword 3 rev by simply having a dps warrior who is doing the same amount of damage.

Then take that same build and apply to raids, PvE, WvW and make changes to stances from banners and you now have the PvP build.

It is really a sad thing to see 4-5 weapons not usable for competitive play anywhere in the game.

i can agree but before HOT you could run meta builds that were hammer/Greatsword or sword/shield- Longbow or you could run the best 1 vs 1 build which was mace/shield- greatsword.

Then if you wanted to run fun builds you could run sword-sword or in my case hammer-rifle with carrion amulet and you could still beat 90% of the players out there because the games balance was imply better.

If we are talking PvP, HOT took alot of the fun out because it took away competitive play away from different types of builds.

Even now the condi warrior that was really good in season 3 is below average for meta purposes, the game isnt about skill anymore which can take away alot of the fun.

Sword had its time, if you go back to WTS1 i think you will see rom playing a sword/sword 1 vs 1 warrior.

Simply put HOT gave everyone everything. Sword like longbow has a condi attack, a dps attack and some sourd of cc. Like cripple or slow or entangle.

Rev staff gives heals, blocks, huge cc and then switch to sword-shield which gives evades, huge bursts, and blocks. The same with staff druid which gives heals, mobility, negates range attacks and clears condi.

Everything about warrior is management, timing your skills and chaining them together which cant not be done anymore.

Weapons like sword, hammer, axe, and even the HOT weapon torch have no place in PvP other then simply making a goofy build for fun.

I can hold a base alone, while defending myself from the entire enemy team for a good 5 minutes because I have constant boons.

If you can 1v5 for 5min either you’re lying or the entire enemy Team was AFK. Pick which one.

If hes talking WvW i believe it, which throw WvW and PvP in the same cup because both modes are getting revamped and looked at because elder players are leaving faster then new players coming in.

This is all on Anet, they got rid of actual levels. I was level 55 before the big level patch which put my right at 80. Way to make PvP convenient for the casuals. Then they get rid of unique skins for PvP. What is the purpose of PvP?

Literally there is no reason to PvP other then fun and the meta isnt fun. No real rewards, skins, trophys for the guild hall are crap compared to basic ones from dungeons.

I have over 8.5k games and i dont have nearly as many games played as these ESL players and to top it off they scrimmage for hours a day. Whats to keep any of them around outside of the ESL? Whats the point of having PvP without a leader board? Whats the point of a Guild Rank Challenger when a team can go 3-0 and get 3rd place? Seriously there was a team who played around 100 games and was 65-35 or something and they didnt place in the top 5.

Players have done everything possible to keep it alive with core 1 vs 1 tournaments, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, and storm is still running AG 5 vs 5.

Anet is the reason the community isnt what it could be. Catering to casuals, PvE heros, and then treating the PvP players of GW2 as the Cinderella of the house. This community is pretty darn good, simply ask the question.

literally is the PvP potions and 2 gold.

I have 28k AP and 8.5k games played. I have 95% of the skins available from PvP. Im 1/3 way done with leystone armor and 1/2 done with bladed armor and then 1/2 with plated weapons. All from PvP tracks and im not to interested in the easter egg hunts to finish them.

Im only referring to portal with premades. Like I and a few others found some nice spots behind the houses to drop a portal and backside someone from the bell.

Cant use it in the basic sense of protecting points but in the idea of team movement. Like i drop the portal by the bell then go to mid and then if we win the fight i can port to the bell where the Dh drops the traps on the bell and we port back to mid and act like we are running to the bell.

We did some really trolly stuff like running full trap ranger, 3-4 trap DH and then healers and simply make the cap point on bell unfightable then portal to take back points we let the team have.

Opinions on the New PvP Maps

i disagree, Capricorn map is too big. It allows for mesmers to have a huge impact on the team game and hurts people who dont have high mobility.

Coliseum allows for different styles of game play. Its a small map which means teams can play it safe and control 2 points and go for buffs which is great in this current meta of constant 4 vs 4 and 5 vs 5.

Killing someone on coliseum means that someone can quickly get a decap since the other cap point is close. There is actual strategy and even though i would like some of the pillars and stands to be changed because they can be trolly .

Capricorn is all about zerg fights. Winning the big battle means your team can run off to the next point together. Literally you can watch and see if someone tries to sneak past since they open area shows all. Especially since the bell is a huge aspect of games, capping home and winning the mid fight means you control the whole map since it takes a long time for a player to get to a cap point and because you have to separate for the bell.

The big difference between the 2 is the buffs on coliseum, the 20% increase in life, damage,condi and the help of the npc can change a game. So if you lose the mid fight and simply take your time and regroup and win the buffs you can take back all 3 points again. Its quick and yet you can play different styles.

I dare you to be slow of Capricorn and think you have a chance.

There is like 5 of these threads but lets do this.

1- New Content

Whether its a new map, achievement points, or simply getting the new skins. None of it revolves around dungeons. We have bladed weapons, map completion for HOT areas, raids, (which are new, fun and very rewarding) and a ton of new currency for doing the new events.

2- Old Content

Not only have a few of us already ran 1k dungeons, we did it when exotics armor and the 10-30-30 trait system was around. With full ascended gear, food, and the increase of everything from healing to cc, dungeons are not really any challenge. Even before HOT people were selling Arah paths by 2 people clearing a dungeon. 1 waits to fill and sell it off and the other starts clearing the next one solo. That was simply with the 30-30-30 trait system.

Now lets add in nerfs to rewards and Anet not updating anything about them since the Ac path 2 ghost mechanics. If anet wanted people to run dungeons they could simply add in a Guild Hall decoration. Bam new decoration creates a new currency for the dungeon and people will want it but they dont. Anet gives off the feeling of not caring about dungeons at all which has rubbed off on the community.

3- Time

You look at alot of these areas, silver wastes is dead. The new blood stone fen area is dead. You add in the PvP seasons with beta map achievements that also grant titles. Unless you dont have anything to do, there is not enough time. I personally run fractals since ill make really good gold, potential ascended drops, new weapon skins (fractal and gold fractal skins) and that takes what 1 hour+ then you got WvW, PvE, PvP, world boss train, and HOT meta events where people are getting 30-100 ecto in a single run.

All in all there is no incentive to do dungeons in any from unless someone literally asks you to help do a dungeon which most people do not.

Everything with banner is kind of broken, cool down too long, cast time too long, easily interrupted in the HOT era, to cap it all off it doesnt rez people most of the time because there health pool is so low or they have poison on them.

All in all Anet didnt balance any core spec lines with HOT and the power creep. When you have the down state before when it was 10-30-30 focusing more on a cele/defensive scene in WvW and PvP. Skill like banner were so vital to team play.

With HOT with the increased stats to 30-30-30, increased CC, increased healing and along with some really gimmicky builds in WvW and PvP there is literally no reason to use any of the old skills for many classes.

Currently there is no reason to use the Elite Banner anywhere in the game, as well as rampage, as well as cultural skills. Warriors use 2 banners in raids and then 2 stances in PvP and then PvE is a combination of those 4 utility skills based on the event you are doing.

Seriously whens the last time you used call Owls or jungle worm? I wanted GW2 really badly so i could turn into a bear, people have seen me use this elite skill and asked what that was, it goes to show Anet really isnt too worried about the class skills as long as raids/WvW/PvP can make sense in a small way.

All classes have some type of role in raids so i guess they must think banners are on the list of ok skills.

This is a good one, i was duo qued and we were in que 5-6 min before we went to unranked.

Last time I queued Ranked, it was like 11min before I just gave up and joined Unranked. Actually 10+min queues weren’t too uncommon all throughout the season, but once you’ve hit Legendary, there’s really no incentive to keep suffering that.

i made legendary the past 3 seasons, i was very close to diamond and thought hey why not push for it on the last day.

I took the screen shot because the ave que time is over 6 minutes, the average que time!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually as someone who just wanted to explore, i hate dragon stand.

I have not done the meta event but if the event is not going there is literally no one there and nothing to do.

So i wanted to just explore but all the wps are contested and so the whole map to me is a waste.

I love Verdint Brink, it has a bunch of small escort missions and bosses that can be killed solo but is very hard. And exploring is great, I like the other 2 maps less but at least i can run around by myself and do things.

Why i gave up on DS? I was towards the bottom of the map and i died, none of the near by wp were open. The emta event wasnt on for another 45 minutes so its just a map i really have no use for.

If Anet wants to admit to a wrong doing, it should be about how 3 out of the 4 maps for HOT is about zerging.

Really need 1v1 balance because its boring that overtuned class mechanic kills me in seconds or outlast my damage so good giving a feeling im fighting a boss alone so i die in the end. If you are solo player you will get 1v1 situations but you can’t solve it as your class is not on the same level as others. Anyone like Dragon Ball anime? The balance right now in this game like the balance in the power level of Saiyans > simple Humans in kitten

The 1 vs 1 balance in the game is actually spot on. If you were to create the best 1 vs 1 build for each class the fight would go on for a long time or even stalemate.

Ranger would get low on health stun break from celestial form and get back to near full health.

Warriors with the burst skill heal and while running a zerk, marauder or anything that does high dps. Warrior if timed right can last for ever almost against any class.

I wont use every class as a example but if you take away the cap point and say go fight someone 1 vs 1 with a 1 vs 1 build. This game has all the classes nearly balanced.

That is unbalance. Why do you need burst thieves or mesmers when every class does that job? Why do you need warriors when rev has the same sustain but gives team boons? Why do you need X class when another class does the exact same thing but has a huge advantage in another area?

Its fine to ask for something in game but to talk about unbalance on a 1 vs 1 issue shows a lack of understanding of what makes this meta.

Then tell me an 1v1 necro build that good to kill warriors, guardians, revs, thiefs etc? If you think its balanced.

I dont really play necro but when i saw this challenged i was goofing around i i went into a 1 vs 1 room. 1 is a friend, 1 is a random and he was learning and 1 was me spectating another 2 dueling.

I dont necro main so i cant tell you the in and outs but im pretty sure the better necro players in the game can come up with good builds for 1 vs 1.

Obviously these screen prints mean nothing but acting like 1 class cant be good in a 1 vs 1? I see the problem with thieves and necros in 5 vs 5 in the current meta but i do not see a problem in 1 vs 1 though some classes might have a advantage over others on a equal skill level.
