We had a guild mission last week to get a win on stronghold and we said cool this could be fun. We got a 20 min que and said naw we wont be able to get this.
Other then guild missions i dont really know anyone who plays it.
The 1 vs 1 game mode has been asked for since beta. The vast majority of friends I used to play with quit because of no 1v1 balance or game mode. It isn’t rocket science. A 1 vs 1 game mode would do allot.
1. It would increase balance
2. It would attract more players that more than replace the loss from 5 vs 5. (Players are packed up in dueling servers anyway.)
3. It would promote esports game-play where skill matters.Honestly, I must elaborate on #2. Players always say 1 vs 1 will take away from pvp. Yet players are shacked up in dueling servers. I see more players in custom dueling and guild servers than in regular matches some days. A dueling server may get maxed out on a given day while only two or three normal servers have 15-5 players. Obviously, the pvp community enjoys 1 vs 1 significantly just a hint for sales purposes. Ranked 1 vs 1 will help the game rather than hurt it or its 5 vs 5 esports.
I have to disagree,
Servers have been dead since they removed 8 vs 8 so using servers as a example isnt the greatest case.
Also many have been playing unranked/ranked and the seasons are long and people are posting screen shots of them having over 300 matches in ranked during a season.
So you we can all see people are playing unranked/ranked and saying a server of 15 people dueling isnt really a big deal.
Also on this very forum they had a 1 vs 1 core tournament then the guys from PZ are doing a 3 vs 3 tournament. To cap it off storm is doing a 2 vs 2 tournament with the AG tourney he already runs.
This isnt the case of people not being able to to play this style of game play at a competitive level. Its just not convenient enough for players in a game where PvE is the main main focus.
Seriously some players have thousands of gems simply by coming to this forum. staying informed on tournaments and entering them and just placing.

You cant have it in between which is what they are playing at. You dont want a 8 min que to only destroy or get destroyed 500-150. You Also dont want a 1 min que where you can 1 vs 3 and win because thats just lame.
You also do not want a League system that is trying to create a 50% match rank system between 2 teams and have a PiP system to determine titles/rewards/ and symbols that show your PvP claim to fame.
PLEASE ANET. The current mode does not even involve people fighting each other, you can avoid other people, cap / decap points, then run away at the first sign of someone with no engagement. And don’t make the maps like the mid point of the new Colosseum map, give it like 4 pillars around the edge and one biggie in the middle. Also please add like a tournament maker and guild tournaments where you and your guildies can go fight other guilds in ruthless guild tourneys (its called freaking guild wars but there is not gvg). I am starting to loose faith in this game along with a lot of other people, so I think that this would breathe fresh life into the game.

You do realize that this meta is more about team fights and that players who excel in the 1 vs 1 might not be as useful? In pug groups you are seeing lots of Druid, engy, and DH because they give healing and do damage.
Also this game is not called Guild Wars because of Guilds in the game or PvP. This was in Gw1 story line.
Lastly im pretty sure Anet knows PvP is missing the “it” factor. They have 2 maps in unranked people would prefer to play, the legendary players season 1-3 got to 25+ legend and this season its 5. Meta is just as kitteneason 1 so im pretty sure everyone is looking at PvP a little funny.

Players left cap points to grab beast which 2 were stolen and rotation wise wasnt pretty but they had a thief so we did win 4 vs 5 twice.
The only way a rev “dies in 3 seconds” to anything is if they literally have 0 cooldowns left or they simply walked right into a full damage combo without pressing ANY of their defensive buttons or dodges.

I was in a match earlier this season which forced me to unranked. We were fighting a 4 DH team and a druid. We lost the mid fight i ran far decapped and won a 1 vs 1. I capped it and then fought off point as the other Dh came over, my team mates were screaming at me to fight on point. They came over onto the point and 2 of them died almost instantly.
I wrote “if you know the traps are there why would you go into it”? The amount of calling me a noob with im a scrub, whispers but yet blocking me lasted a good 5 min after the match.
Ive suggested a change in DH because its a a brain dead class and lacks a certain skill floor but i guess you cant fix bad players and cant fix a MM system that puts bad players against these face roll comps.
Ill end this, ranger/druid is the Apex atm. It beats rev because it lacks stability. It beats DH because you can send a pet in to destroy traps, it beats warrior because it has better sustain and it beats scrapper because is the exact same class without a pet.

Nec is too slowly (1), dont having enough stability(2) , deathshroud is not equal too blocks,invulnerability,invis as a mechanic for standing dmg(3).
1 – every other class has portskill or jumpskills which the classes can use instantly. for example thief (shortbow5), mesmer(blink),ele(lighting flash),guard(judge intervention), rev(phase traversal) or jump fast like warri(gs5,sword 2),druid(ancestral grace, gs3), engi(rocket charge, rocket boost). every of this classes can leap 2000+ range with all of their skills they have, and nec?
only nec has over 1 sec cast time on flesh worm (why?).
flesh worm could create like shadowstep from thief. you port instantly to a position and cast on your old position a fleshworm. you can port back to him if you activate skill a second time. cooldown is same like thiefs … 50 sec.
in next step nec could get superspeed by himself with spectral walk. if spectral walk is active he get 1sec superspeed every second until spectral walk ends.so you could push enemy hard because you have a higher speed than most other classes while just walking infight if this skill is acticated.
2 – why nec dont get the old reapershroud3 back? 20 sec basic cd and 8 sec duration. for pvp and roaming this would be enough.
and for wvw zerg anet could change vampiric rituals, that you get 2 stability for 3 seconds and don’t get protection.3 – all f skills of all other classes get pushed since hot, like berserker of warri or pets of druids, but deathshrouds mechanik is a lifepoint pool. since gw2 release, dmg on all classes increase massively, but shroud from nec never get a lifepoint boost. so the shroud get nerfed indirectly because the lifepoints havent the same worth like before 4 years.
anet should work on the regeneration skills for DS (for example: locust swarm, spectral armor) that they give you shroud-lifepoints without needing hits of enemies, so you get easier and indirectly more lifepoints to DS. that would equalize the effect that lifepoints havent the worth like before years.

Also please this thread is silly, necro is still one of the best classes in PvP when used by decent players.
They are literally the class of choice when when it comes to dps, every ESL team had a dps necro except Never Lucky who score 100 and 50 in there 2nd and 3rd game.
Also kaypud has been putting in work in unranked on necro, he was kind of crushing people.

Despite the word-salad title, I’m guessing you are complaining about function gyro stomps being unfair.
Yes. they are a little bit unfair in that they let the scrapper do two things at once.
However.
- This is Scrapper’s Elite Mechanic. You know, like Druid’s Astral form, or Reaper Shroud, or Chrono CS. If you take that away, Scrapper has literally nothing as an elite mechanic. I would gladly trade the gyro for any other class’ elite mechanic.
- Other classes have better stomps. Stealth/Tele stomps and Invuln stomps are more reliable. Function gyro dies to aoe or focus and gets lost if the target teleports.
you mean like moa and rampage? (warrior make confused face at engy)
You get a tool kit function that was crazy OP before HOT and you got a better rampage then warrior after nerf.
Are the gyros stupid and OP? Yes but so are DH traps, ele shouts, necros reaper shroud and warrior burst dps heal.
Gyros are just 1 of many things this game game out with as “Hey we made a expansion”.
On myself i can hit it right about 90% of the time. Literally for fun ill let them think they got me rebound then pop ll my shots and then go into water form and heal, you can literally feel the crap i thought we won that fight.
Rebounding team mates, complete opposite. Id say i miss 90% of the time hitting the shout and they go the full length of the shout then getting some aura and then dropping.
Put alot of games in and you will know when to use it for yourself. Otherwise i suggest comms.

just want to say thank you for putting more time into the game and try and help out the PvP scene.
I would like to add another Screen shot, all these matches are solo que. Im in ruby with no intention of getting out. 3-4 games a day max and i made legendary the past 3 seasons.
There is simply in a 10 game span where people on the other team shouldnt be in a match against me or my team mates. Literally pushing for a 3 cap and winning all 3 to start a game. My ques are in the 5-10 min que range and if i was on the other side i would be very frustrated.
Ok so ive lost interest in trying to find a consistent raid group where i have a spot every week. Ive been in 3 raid guilds all of which had there 10 man teams. The rest of us are simply subs etc etc.
Left those groups and ive been pugging W1 and kind of done with this as well.
I want the guild hall decorations though. You have multiple guild hall decorations from raids and i would like to use them. I dont need anymore tokens from dungeons, ( lol tokens and dungeons, so funny to think we still have dungeons) and the mordremoth cache box is all i go left for a reward track and i couldnt care less about plated weapons.
So if i could suggest, a reward track that gives us the guild hall decorations from raids. For instance a W1 reward track that gives a VG, Gors, Sab tokens for the guild hall. Same thing for W2 and W3.
Im not asking for AP points, im not asking for mastery points or titles. I simply want to PvP my way to some rewards to decorate my guild hall, thank you

the meta, depends on what you want.
Season 1 the bunker meta, you could do some neat things team wise. For instance my guild team ran 2 bunker MM necros, 1 mesmer, 1 ele and 1 dps character depending on who was on. So it was either a rev, thief or DH.
You always pushed for a 3 cap and then we tried moving our dps player to a +1 spot, then tried putting 1 of our necros into a 1 vs 1. We always tried to keep the mesmer and ele together. We did really well, 2 of the players were sapphire, 1 ruby level, 1 diamond level.
From a meta perspective 2 was my favorite since we had all the amulets but they killed bunker mesmer which opened up some things team comp wise. Obivously ESL teams were doing 2 revs, 2 mesmers but at rank play you were seeing alot of different builds and team comps. Like on my guild team when we thought PvP guild rankings were about actually playing PvP, we came up with some nice combinations for average level PvP. My friends who dont PvP as much were winning 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 in legendary simply because we put together builds that work better together.
You an see from that the person didnt agree with the match making. It would be because all the roles are the same in the game. Simply put Dh are average at everything but are the same as ranger who has more healing who is the same as engy which has more sustain.
Thats the difference from S1 to S4. Even now Anet has found more ways to cut build diversity.
I have a few posts talking about my 1 vs 2 wins. So most people are not counting heads, for instance you run far get the 1 vs 1 and then another player comes and now its a 1 vs 2.
Alot of players will be like im 1 vs 2 how did you not win mid? Not knowing that 1 team mate went beast or the enemy team killed 1 at mid left it to a 3 vs 3. The best ones are the ones coming off respawn. You kill 1 at home run to there far and now your in a 1 vs 1 with a respawn of the person you just killed.
In my posts i was talking the poor match making, when i won a 1 vs 2 ( which is very rare) my team steam rolled the game. In one of these threads i posted a pic of my team triple capping home and we still won because i won a 1 vs 2 and the thief on my team was like “Whoa” but once again this allowed for the team to win because they are not useless players.
Most of the threads of them 1 vs 2 are people not understanding everything that happened in there match. For instance 2 days ago i was in a 1 vs 1 with a rev, i won the 1st won and loss the next 2. (staff 5 anet come on) This put our team at a disadvantage forcing our engy to 1 vs 2 alot. It wasnt because our engy was OP but becaise i had lost 2 fights that put the team at a 4 vs 5.
So overall i feel its either they are frustrated like i was about MM or people are mad about the meta or a number of other things. Its easy to say i deserve better team mates when anet is sharing what they are doing.
All you have to do is look at alot of the utility skills. Like alot of ele shouts are 20 sec, 30 sec and 40 sec. They apply protection, vigor and a aura to everyone in radius. WIth a rune it removes a condi for everyone. Then you look at the old cantrip build, without the trait cool down its 40 sec, 50 sec and 75 sec.
Look at the warrior as well, stances changed so they can easily be countered by boon steal classes. The new rage skills have a cool down 10 sec and 12 sec for a break out of stun and gain adrenaline. The other skill applys a ranged bleed/block and stability for a few seconds. You then look at bulls rush and stomp and go what are these for? A break stun and knock enemy back on a 40 sec cool down when this other one does it in 10.
Alot of HOT is straight crap, the one that annoys me the most is the ranger-druid combo. Druid gets celestial form, its a huge mechanic of the druid class. It forces you to basically play staff to get celestial form. Ive played full condi trap ranger and i next to never get the bar up to use celestial form.
Its why balance in the game is so bad and why amulets all look the same.
GW2 best PvP was right before the D/D ele meta. Like you said in the original post, if you had the skills you could play any build. Now its 80% the build you play and 19% the team comp you have. 1% has to be skill and im yes im making up numbers but it certainly feels this way.

Basically this sucks. We have less than 2 weeks left to finish the Carpicorn Achieves yet almost everyone is voting the new map as it has new achieves for them. They have their Capricorn but what do they care? If only they wait until Capricorn is gone from the vote then they will be able to get their new map easier but no…
Ill tell you why no one wants to wait and its because you will get games like this. Its hard doing games like this over and over. Its because we have had to play alot of PvP lately and everyone is on edge from capricorn players to coliseum.
Now i dont blame the players for this at all but when you have the 4th PvP season. 2 unranked maps, a new PvE area and for some of us like me. Have over 8k games played, your kind of looking to get stuff done.

I agree but there is a few things i want to add in.
1- Its the PvP season
How can you throw in a title for 2 unranked maps and a ranked season title? Ive played alot of games since the new map came out and its so frustrating to get 3-4 capricorn maps and 1 skyhammer/spirit watch thrown in there.
2- Time
You say the maps been here for awhile and i agree but then you throw in a new map and the ranked season. How many games are people suppose to play? You have people on this thread saying they are spending 1-2 hrs trying to PvP. Lets say they have a 50% win rate and they need 25 on coliseum and 5 on capricorn. That means they will need 60 games to get the titles. Which will take 3-4 weeks given the time of matches per play a day. Then to top it off they cant even play in the ranked season.
I see what you are saying but i also see what everyone else is saying and it hard to ignore that anet just kind of threw water in mud and said still thirsty

Because Anet knows Helseth is a streamer and probably intentionally rigged it to be put against him.
Anytime Anet is using their “official” accounts it’s going to be for some type of PR stunt. And PR stunts work best when done against youtubers and streamers.
I have to disagree with this, in season 1-2 i saw Anet staff running a premade. Heck they had a name for the premade and had anet staff as the title as if it was a guild.
I was with some other people and every time we saw them we destroyed them. Now take away the fact they were Anet and it becomes a little joke about beating the people who make the game and take a second to realize we were doing the same thing to everyone else that week.
In season 1 they had to know MM was bad, in season 2-3 they gave the legendary players what they wanted which was a fast way to get there. Yet they havent given us a real PvP leader Board and have not given us a real ranked game.
Something for me to add is they might be playing on there own time, yet they are playing unranked? I believe the season is going since they were talking about it which brought up a few things in my head.
Does Anet care about Ranked? – I dont think they care
Do they want leader boards or a real items for PvP players? – Again i dont think they do
I have a few more but im rambling, all in all the only thing i took away from this video is even Anet doesnt like the PvP seasons. They cant believe that PvP is “fun” since they were being farmed by “some guy on a random account” and they cant be doing this for PR because I and my friends crushed them and it is hilarious watching 1 person solo all of them which can not be good for outsiders looking at this game. They say hey Pro Players stand out them come to GW2 forums and see the millions of complaint threads on the exact same issues.

Helseth is an EU player, but in this video he was playing on an Alt account to mess around on NA. So the most likely reason is that the MMR on his NA account was fresh and hadn’t been fully developed yet.

Anet developed the game to be like this, metas were sopose to cut the pro players skill and non pro players skill intervall much shorter (close gap between those 2), why every one playes the easy damage output build every will look at least decent, so they cant see it has “what is wrong”, for them use builds that do 3 hit to kill players is called players skill, and thus makes game more easy for alot of players.
The videos also demostrates what makes people quit the game, but not because it is hard to survive, it is because the effort to kill isnt that much Anet carries alot of players reason metas are created over class balance wich make some classes even loose its objectiveness with all this free and achieveble damage that groups skill is a thing of the past (not taking credit out of Helseth he is a good player and he is showing how easy this game is to play).
Gw2 is known to be a dumb pvp game overall, a pretty game with dumb gameplay (nto my words, but ive learned to see the game this way), to much spam, aoe’s and cleave’s, Anet did a huge mistake by fast combat while they dont even know how to do it.

I agree that they are making the meta easier for everyone but there has always been a gap between the Pro Players and the rest of us.
The video of Helseth farming Leeto is before HOT and he kills him i want to say 12 times in 1 game.
Obviously there was some builds that needed looked at such as spirit ranger, hambow, turret engy etc. The difference is before HOT GW2 had multiple builds/weapon sets you could play and the better players stood out.
Which once again im all for it, sure what ever Anet wants but when your MM is so bad that a player doesnt even care about the score and is simply farming you can still win the game by 100+ points. I mean please can we ask for a slightly better system here?
That has nothing to do with the map but more the meta.
Everyone can be bursted down and when you have things like grenth, you simply need to down people and watch a ghost NPC take over. This map is definitely a front running map for good players.
Imagine getting players that know how to rotate and then give them buffs that make them stronger when they were already winning the team fights and 1 vs 1. In a meta where there is only 1 play style these matches happen all over the place.
I posted my ranked matches on warrior, out of 6 games 2 were close. The others were 500-150 or less in the ranked maps.

to recap the fight for those not seen it, he is 1 vs 2 and is winning and downs a player. A team mate thief comes in and another enemy and its now 2 vs 3. His team mate thief goes down and he rezzes him and then proceeds to kill them all.

ive seen Anet premades in past seasons, its either they are teseting certain builds or have no idea what they are playing.
If you see them enough you have to know they know balance is at a all time low. The fact helseth can win a 1 vs 3 vs them should let them know something.

Im sorry Anet but your patch didnt do anything for players not running condi necros and maybe a druid.
I and a guild mates are running glass gear. Im a rev with full zerk gear, hes a thief with full marauder gear and all of its ascended with enough AR to boot.
All these little pop ups kill us instantly, the bosses dont seem to die faster and i find fractals harder now then they were before the patch.

Dont try to camp on fractals at high levels. In zerk gear you will die quickly.
But yeah im running zerk gear with rune of rage and i simply camp the F2 and the fury facet for perma fury,might and boon duration for anyone else giving boons. You can actually do that for raids as well.

You have to question if Anet even cares about S4, they introduced a new PvE area. They introduced a new PvP map during the season and before the season which people are now working towards both.

The build is just there to augment your own ability. You want the play the build that suits both your team, counters the other team as best you can and mechanics suitable to your skill level on the class.
Case in point, your team has no bunker, you can play DH and scrapper. But you’re feeling off today. Pick DH for the lower mechanical floor since you won’t be making the most out of scrapper, despite it being the better pick if you have the ability to max it out.
Similarly, say your opposition has 2 DHs and you team also has 2DHs (pretty common). Picking rifle warrior is superior to a condi macebow or a melee GS/x build because you can take advantage of your DH meatshields to blow up the enemy DHs while not getting blasted by PBAoE. On the other hand if the other team has a druid, an ele and a DH, you might pick the melee GS/x build to avoid magnetic aura and sublime conversion.
Played well, with a build tailored to each game, I think a warrior is perfectly capable of holding their own in solo queue. Sometimes you’re gonna get cheesed by a 3 dragon’s maw+PoB DH comp, or go rifle warrior and end up farmed by a ridiculously good thief all game, but I think warrior is in a pretty good place with 2 viable builds and one situational build.

@kdaddy, I answered your question in a PM. Also, i disagree with your analysts. It’s not 50% Skill and 50% Build. some builds require very little skill to get the most out of. Mace/shield, Bow. is one of those builds. It is very forgiving for mistakes (like not swapping every 5 seconds, etc) That’s what Metabuilds are, The easiest build to play with the highest amount of success. This is not a bad thing, it’s just not what you describe. A build can carry you very far, but eventually you’ll need some skill to bring the most out of a class. this is not something you can measure with math.

Back to the Op though, im trying to put logic into a question like this. Ill just take a few PvP matches i had trying to get into legendary last season.
So my last 3-4 games trying to get into legendary i saw tarcis on warrior and trackstar on rev. Now i noticed one game that tarics ran to our home and the warrior from my team went to cap it.
They were using the same build, m/s-lb but tarics killed him and had 80% of his life left. So it just trying to compare the build abilities with skill.
Same thing happened with track star, seeing a 1 vs 1 between 2 recs on shiro/glint with s/s and staff. Yet track star won with 50% of his health as well.
Im just trying to make sense of the build/skill concept vs classes that face each other.
You cant say any of this for WvW because there are tons of different builds you will see like perma stealth rangers/engys/thieves.
Like i run axe/warhorn and staff on my necro and then my guild mate runs greatsword staff on his necro. I dont know if they nerfed it but he uses wells on his necro and he took kitten of him doing 26k damage to a downed person with GS skill 2 i think in WvW.
I can answer this easy for PvP, axe off hand warrior, sword for thief, necro GS, ranger warhorn boom done.

If you are running the best build possible (50%) but you are not very skilled ( lets just say 20%) then you are running at 70% of the class capability. Then you just break down a classes/the build your running value in 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 situations with the person you are teamed with. Like today i ran far on coliseum with a necro and we lost to a Dh and druid. It was hard for the necro to start off in a 2 vs 2 with no life force but we won later against the same 2. So you have to judge each fight on different things.
I mean this goes for any class, can you imagine playing cantrip ele right now in PvP? Guess what i tried it and i did not like it. It was not pretty, or playing a all signet warrior build?
Obviously both have a huge part,

Someone posted a thread about GW2 not promoting the small tournaments. This use to have its own spot at the top of PvP but it got taken down for what ever reason.
I always came here for info on the AG tournaments and storm does a great job of relaying info even when you ask in a thread.
Neither is Capricorn, Neither is Spirit Watch. The updated Skyhammer might work though.

I disagree.
I find spirit watch, capricorn and coliseum very worthy of ranked.
A few small changes to spirit watch and capricorn and they should be ready to go.
Coliseum has really fighting mechanics for players that use ranged weapons and alot of different plat forms to fight around and kite. Its a really good map.
I like the Kylo map as well, its just the treb is kind of useless at higher end PvP. So it becomes the a point/cap battle and nothing to change it. Temple has the best mechanics and its the best map imo and legacy and forest create some crazy npc fights.
I took a pic, i dont know how i got it but a skill popped up when i got a kill. It was pretty cool.
Edit- sky hammer is super buggy to the person who said it should be in ranked, pillars get int he way of camera view on side nodes, you can still die from jump platforms while in combat and the jump plat forms at the mid fight dont always take you to the area you are suppose to land on. Nothing worse then trying to kite around hit a jump pad and die from falling damage or take a jump pad that should take you up but for some reason you fall right under neath it only to get pinned against a wall that you should of been on top of.

there is so much stuff to do in the game and you are literally doing the thing you dont like (room full of people stares at you )
There is PvP/WvW, you dont like those then there is PvE. Bored of that, you can do dungeons and you can skip those cut scenes. Tired of dungeons you say, you can do raids or fractals.
Well shoot if you dont like any of this then what are you doing? No one is forcing you to do anything, you can find your way around everything in this game. Dont want to do the HOT story to get into VB guess what you dont have too. Join squad walk into LA liondome for raids and simply walk in the raid room and walk out the portal to VB.
People usually like to make suggestions on things but you are the guy who went to disney land but hates children.
Its not about the 1 vs 1, almost every class at a high level of play beats a DH in a 1 vs 1.
Its the average to below average who gets caught with there spear of justice after falling into the trap and then knocked back out with shield 5. Or what ever combination you want to throw in, the average-below average player might not win that fight.
There was a thread where a player who mains Guardian who said they dont lose to X class in 1 vs 1 and there comment came from watching storm in a AG weekly. So skill and timing is still important in 1 vs 1 but DH has a really low curve play with a above average reward.
My problem with DH is the premade set up. 1 ele 3 dh and a ranger. Ranger takes home and 3 DH go mid with a ele. The constant heals and shields and traps are unbelievable.
I can recall a match this season where they were a 4-1 and it was 3 DH, 1 engy and a mesmer. We actually downed one of there DH at mid and they started spamming traps like crazy to stop us from stomping. 2 people on our team got mad and said something like just cleave but you cant sit in the trap either.
Is there a counter to this? Of course but the issue with ranked is balance/roles/skill/classes and then throw in team comps and the meta. I get a team with a ele thief warrior and rev. The thief will get constantly downed from trap and ele will get interrupted on every attempted overload. Ele without ranger/guardian/engy to help with heals is no good and thief atm isnt any good as well unless the thief can go far to win that 1 vs 1.
The issue isnt 1 vs 1, its that everyone is playing it because its easy and it easily counters other classes. Also it takes a slightly higher skill ceiling to kill a good one and even if you do it will take you a incredibly long time.
If you were to make a team of 5 of the same class i think that druid would be 1 and DH 2 since they can both do lots of damage and they both give team support in condi clears/ heals/ and boons.
To much damage? wth?? i do 800 damage with my mace on soldier stats….and 1.2k crits… warriors, rev, hits over 10k on bunker guards…wich is no existent in spvp.
DH\Guard is forced to be in meditrap based builds to actually be in pair with other classes, and good players dont have problem with DH’s.If traps get nerfed some Warrior and Rev damage output on some skills need to be toned down to, it is to easy to achieve high damage builds on this game with poor sacrifices on some classes, and DH is not one of them, at least not top on this area.
And just one traps does some very high damage, even on bunky stats i can do damage with that trap, i actually hate to use traps on DH, most time i feel a bit carried.
But sadly, Guardian traps need to work like they are working (sadly) for guardian be in pair with other classes damage output capability… wich is all that matters in this game, aoe damage.

I mean all classes need relooked at since the HOT spec line came in. All the skill Cool Downs need looked at as some of the traits.
Like in 1 vs 1, all classes can survive or stalemate for extreme amounts of time. Yet if 1 person comes to help its instant death. Every class in the game is forced to play a form of DPS.
Its guardians right now but if they nerf that it will be something else simply because Anet refuses to balance PvP.

It’s hilarious how people are overreacting. Saying that this was supoosed to be build templates, or that ANet should not spend resources over this and more.
This is not even close to a build template. Not even 1/10. It barely scratchs the surface of the complexity that a build template would have. Build templates will need to be customizable, savable, to account your gear, your bag and much more. Build templates aren’t coming only to pvp where everything is already streamlined, you know.
This default build system could have been the work of a single programmer in it’s spare time (like MANY other features and content in this game, like the action camera or the hungry cats in PvE) and it actually looks like it.
I’m usually the first to call ANet out in their mistakes, but this is just dumb. Take a chill pill, guys.PS: build templates only became an idea with HoT, not in the last 4 years. Previously you could not even change traits without a NPC, or people don’t even remember? And while a year is more than enough to come up with a build template system and I get kittened that this doesn’t look like a priority, we need to wait for feature packs for new big features. Not LS releases.
You could change your build when ever you wanted in PvP, you could even change it in a hot join or 1 vs 1 servers.
The not being able to change stats was a PvE thing not PvP.
I still find it buggy, like being in combat and step on a jumping pad and you die from fall damage.
Or pillars getting in your view or not bouncing to the right area at the mid point pads.
I think Capricorn and the new map are better then sky hammer, heck even spirit watch
This is a stepping-stone to build templates. They will come in time.
Default builds were just added so new players could use the system and be more up-to-par than normal.

I have to agree with the video. You seem to be writing about the next step, well the next step for PvP many hoped for more build diversity and it isnt here.
If anet wants to dumb the game down sure fine its there game but it wont stop them from getting wrecked in unranked/ranked.
How about anet make build templates instead of dumb default builds, fix MM, make PvP seasons fun, create a better meta and some decent build diversity. I dont know maybe 2 quality builds for each class. I know its crazy but these are things that should be done and yes they should wait till its a finished product. I dont sell you half cooked food and you dont eat it.

So like a DH i can place traps down, you run on them and even though you just activated them i have them ready for our fight because they are coming off a cool down. Now unlike DH traps you can just dodge threw them or use a skill that has a evade effect to go threw the traps and take no damage.
Now ranger traps dont provide anything for the team, they dont help me defensively in any way but if you run on them not seeing me or i set you up. And you dont know how your build works, have condi clear, access to resistance, among other things you need to know. You will die.
So why is it a troll build? Its a build where if i stun you or knock you down with teh spike trap. I can entangle you and apply 8 stacks of burn, 25 stacks of bleed, 10 stacks of psn and torment among entangle and chill. I can do this in about 5-7 seconds.
This build is a 1 trick pony and the question is do you know what to do? When i take it to ranked vs players running the smae builds as people in unranked i get squashed but in unranked you will hear the frustrations of not knowing.
I used to run this build with Wanderer’s Amulet and Krait Runes. It was aids in S3, but it hasn’t been as effective this season for me…
Ohh yeah, i use vipers amulet with the sigil of life on axe. I used it in season 2 and 3 but only for dailies.
Same rune but players in ranked will catch this after the 1st one and if anyone says trap ranger they should know what to do against it. Forced 50/50 MM means someone on the other team will at least be of the same MMR or higher so running like this means you will get caught fast.
