I’ll forgive the grammar/spelling as it appears English isn’t your mother language.
From what I gather from your post the bridge in EOTM was showing as broken, but you could walk across it as though it was fully functional.
I’ve found it is a graphical bug that sometimes happens and is usually localized to your own client. It was probably shown as a full bridge to other folks and only you saw it as broken.
Same thing happened to some fellow guildmates, setting yourself to invisible and then back to online seemed to work for them.
Hey Mithril, might try just rushing through to the end and don’t worry about the objectives along the way to the scout. It seemed to work for this other guy/gal: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Forewarned-is-Forearmed-stuck/first#post4935888
Woo! Glad you rushing through made it finish for you!
Q: Can I reset my character’s Personal Story progress, or revert my story progress to an earlier state?
A: No. You cannot reset your character’s story progress, either partially or fully.Q: Why can’t I reset my character’s Personal Story progress?
A: The Personal Story was not designed to be replayable. Attempting to adjust a character’s story progress introduces a wide variety of bugs across various content and game systems. We investigated different solutions for partial and full story resets. In all cases, the changes led to unpredictable results in many different content types, including permanent blocking of story progress.
I realize we can’t reset the story and that makes sense. However,…
Q: What’s the difference between personal story and living story that we can replay the instances of Living Story anytime we like (by chapter) that we cannot replay certain chapters of personal story?
I don’t want to reset my story to try other playthroughs as my character has made certain choices and that should stay. But it would be nice to go back and revisit certain chapters that I have on my character(s). There’s no loot dropped in the story now and we’d only get the completion reward for finishing it, not replaying it.
Is the limitation in the fact that there are diverging paths along the way in personal story (pick a race to learn about) so one person’s story chapters would be different depending on choices made…and with living story, no matter what your choices are in the story, the next steps are the same for everyone? I like the choices in personal story and how it affects what story steps I get next and wouldn’t want that to change.
I actually just finished this story step a few days ago and didn’t have a problem. I wound up running by the first circle without doing that objective…but when I noticed it I was already swimming down and killing the drake and didn’t feel like going back. Then when I got to the scout the first objective I glossed over changed to “complete” and I finished it out. If you’re on this evening after I get home I can do the instance with you and see if we can get yours to complete.
Only supply from before the change and from black lion chests, afaik.
You can also get dyes in the “Bags of Loot” that you get as rewards from completing various Personal Story instances, along with at least one of the Living Story instances.
And they’re at the Laurel Vendor too…unless that’s changed.
I want my bunny ears too! Please Easter is almost here so it’s the perfect time!
I will usually revive someone. With few exceptions.
I won’t revive if:
1-Fully dead
2-In AoE/otherwise dangerous to do so
3-I see they have the hoboton backpack (personal reason)
4-I know they died to something stupid (i.e. purposefully standing in red circles and not moving)
5-I can tell they’re afk (dying because they were standing at a harvesting node or whatever)
I try to be helpful when I can, but if you’re not in my party, a friend, or guild….I will not die trying to help you.
With regards to obscene guild names, is reporting individual players the best way to address the issue?
A ticket is better. The report options have nothing to do with the guild name so they won’t know that’s what you are trying to report. Get the Display name and character name as well as the guild name and tag and report it on a ticket.
Correct. Please submit a ticket. The in-game report is expressly for character names.
What do we do for pet names? I’ve seen a few rangers running around with pets that have some obscene names, and others downright derogatory towards a certain demographic.
One of the changes I have really been hoping for regarding ranger pets (among many), is that I really wish they would just change pet names to being visible only to the ranger that owns the pet. All other players will see the standard “Juvenile Thingy” name or “Tamed Thingy” to prevent issues of other rangers thinking it is an animal that is free for them to tame. This would completely remove inappropriate ranger pet names as being an issue.
I hope that doesn’t happen…I don’t give my pets offensive names, but I do like seeing other people’s names (like someone’s polar bear named Knut) and I like others to be able to see my pet’s names. If we could click a pet and report an offensive name that would be good though (I have seen a few offensive pet names, but not many).
An in-game way to report guild names would be nice too. I’ve only ever found myself doing a ticket for two or three really REALLY bad guild names and I haven’t seen them around since, so the ticket for a guild names does work, but it’s a little time intensive and I guess it’s to make it so that only the really offensive ones get reported.
I wonder if it’s a bug with the second round of beta stress testing. I was in the earlier round and not a single item I got unlocked for me (Not even Kryta’s Embrace axe we got). Weird.
I had a lot of fun, but couldn’t get the mushroom mastery to work. I was able to glide over to one of the mastery point communes but couldn’t figure out how to get to the one on the rock or the plateau by the vine adventure thing.
The story part of the demo from the into to killing the wyvern was neat, I liked that killing the wyvern was more than most dragon fights where you stand in one spot and auto attack. The flamethrower adventure thing was frustrating at best, it kept resetting on me before the timer ran out and I have no idea how you’re supposed to get more than 50 in a minute.
It was what I expected…the playable demo from PAX, not the full expansion already (I assume that will come later). For what it was, I thought it was fun and I didn’t experience any lag or disconnects on my end.
Thanks for the opportunity to play the demo
What do you do with your excess Queen Jennahs? Toss ’em? or is there some sort of vendor they can be sold/traded to?
Jennah-cide.
also from what I’ve seen it doesn’t work with the tropical bird ambients (like in Southsun)
I want to know if I need to have a free character slot to participate….I don’t have a free slot.
The forum bug strikes again.
I liked the challenge of it…obviously I have 13 characters with full map completion and 1 more just needing green BL/green EB.
But Oh well. No rewards for completing the map means no reason for me to go there anymore unless I just feel like zerg-training.
Hate to ruin it even more for you, but Kam also has unique projectiles. If you play a necro and use the aoe grab move(#4) or plague blast(the underwater version of life blast) you shoot sharks as your projectile.
Oh wow, that’s awesome. That’s the one underwater legendary I haven’t made yet. The two stacks of powerful blood is my biggest hurdle on that one.
So I made kraitkin, and while it looks cool, it doesn’t alter projectiles like I thought it would (the way bifrost and the bow and pistol legendaries alter projectiles).
Also, underwater combat needs love.
Heck Frenzy has altered projectiles, the Shark spear has awesome shark animations when you crit…My beloved Kraitkin has amazing wiggly eels and a cool aura but yeah other effects are lacking.
If WvW is being removed from map completion requirements, I for one can only rejoice. I was looking forward to going into WvW to get the places I needed about as much as I was to my two root canals.
If this is the case, my 14th map completion was finished last night. All I lacked was green in EB and the green borderlands.
Or simply ignore the troll, it’s the best way to get rid of them -> You don’t feed them -> They die.
If OP is talking about who I think he’s talking about, the spammer in question uses i and í in sequence (try doing a search for ííiííiiííiiííiiííiííiiiííiííiííiííiiííiííi without copying and pasting, remember that partial hits don’t count in /ignore), which makes it impossible for most people to ignore without the ability to right-click > ignore.
I was able to find that guy’s global and I have him on block now…but yeah I like having emotes on to read RP I come across, see when those crabs in bloodtide are threatening me (so I can kill them) and other NPC emotes. I’m not going to turn chat/emotes/game off due to a few jerks.
Does this mean I should throw a fit because they haven’t brought back the bunny ears I so desperately want?
Chill OP, the wings will be coming back. The bunny ears I want though…still waiting and waiting ….
1. Allow players to halt levelling on a character.
City of Heroes had this, and while I never used it there (never saw the point there), it would be very helpful here. trying to get silver doubloons, cloth or leather of a certain level… etc.
Yes, this is something I seriously want….See my signature.

Crests & Geodes are currencies and have no other use than to spend at a vendor and should not be physical items.
Fixing Howler’s night time effects would be appreciated too. They broke it April 2014 and haven’t fixed it.
then they announce ON THE PATCH DAY that they are moving it.
Yeah that’s my problem too. If you are going to delay something, don’t do it on the day of the deadline. You can’t convince me Anet didn’t realize they couldn’t make the deadline until the last moment.
That and the fact there is no new release date. If it’s a delay of only one or two days then no big deal, but it could be a delay of a week or more for all we know.
It’s still the day before over at Anet headquarters. Day before patch day. Still not great to hear it the day before, but still better for them to tell us, hey that patch we were going to release tomorrow isn’t ready and we wont’ have enough time in the day tomorrow to test what we need to before it goes live. So it’ll be delayed. The time frame makes sense, they were probably hustling today to try and get it ready for tomorrow, but at the end of the day it wasn’t anywhere near ready yet so they had to announce a delay.
I agree trying to do map completion as a guardian is such a massive pain being the slowest moving class in game.
Guarantee the people here saying no are Thieves rangers or anyone else with a passive 25% speed buff along with swiftness skills and don’t see a problem with moving.
You mean mesmer I think…guardians are faster than mesmers by far and “retreat” plus symbol of swiftness, you have a good amount of swiftness uptime. Mesmer on the other hand…yeah they’re definitely the slowest class in the game. Not looking forward to mapping on my second mesmer (but I will and have no complaints about doing it again).
Interestingly enough you get 3 exotic armor pieces as level up rewards….one shy of being able to throw them in the forge when you get to 80 and want to recycle the old pieces. :P
Mystic Forge Stone is your friend.
Quite agree
For the most part. You can’t salvage gear bought with karma or badge. Plus anything you get as a lvl up reward can not be salvaged.
Oh yeah I forgot about leveling reward items. (edited post above to include them) Can’t be salvaged, but can be forged….but you get salvage kits as level up rewards so you can recycle your old gear. Oh yeah except the stuff that I’m given….or buy from heart vendors. That’s got to be helping the NPE somehow. >.>
Interestingly enough you get 3 exotic armor pieces as level up rewards….one shy of being able to throw them in the forge when you get to 80 and want to recycle the old pieces. :P
(edited by khani.4786)
so the following statement is true:
Any exotic armor/weapon may be salvaged for the possibility to receive all of the following results. inscriptions/insignias, ecto, darkmatter, and a rune. as long as the inscription/insignia of that armor/weapon is not craftable by discovery no matter the source of the armor/weapon. If the exotic item is discoverable in the crafting menu then only the possibility of receiving ecto, darkmatter, and a rune exists.
With the following caveat:
Karma gear cannot be salvaged, but can be put in mystic forge.
WvW gear (bought with badges) cannot be salvaged and cannot be put in the mystic forge.
Level up rewards cannot be salvaged, but can be put into the mystic forge.
**(There really should be a tool tip on these items saying “cannot be salvaged” and/or “cannot be put in the mystic forge”)
(edited by khani.4786)
You can only salvage non-craftable insignias/inscriptions.
Soldiers – AC, SE, HoTW
Cavaliers – ?
Shaman’s – CM
Rabid -CM, TA, HoTW, Arah
Dire – CoE
Magi – AC, TA, HoTW
None of the armor available from CoF has insignia/inscriptions that can be salvaged.
Edit: You can salvage and forge dungeon armor/weapons….I have done it myself.
As I’m genuinely curious…how are you getting your dyes?
Are you crafting them? Buying with laurels? Buying Unidentified ones from the Trading post?
I unlocked 90% of the dyes before the removed dyes as a possible drop and found the rest of the rares I needed when I was refunded dyes for having duplicates. So I honestly don’t know how people are choosing to get dyes now. Personally, I’d be crafting dyes to get the particular color spectrum I wanted rather than buying from the trading post.
Yeah I missed that part…so most of my previous post is not applicable to the OP; but still waypoints are a part of map completion and I don’t think those can easily be separated out.
I understand both points of view about this topic, yes you get XP from getting WPs but being account bound would be beneficial for those who don’t want to do a whole map exploration again. I have no idea how they’d balance this for those who don’t want it.
Making map exploration account bound would make it nearly impossible to level up normally in PvE. Think about it. New player makes first character and does map completion and levels and plays….second character comes along and it’s all discovered. Now what do they do to get xp? Craft….events? Do you realize how tedious it would be to level that way? Don’t suggest tomes or anything of the sort either, as not everyone has those as options. Maybe they don’t want to pvp or wvw. Then they’re left with no way to level up outside of grinding events in PvE and that would suck.
I get that the OP doesn’t want to walk around to discover waypoints all over again, but making map completion account bound would be very detrimental.
Yeah, how about a big nope from me. I like the bonuses for finishing the map, potential for a Black Lion Key and it gives me time on a map to gather that level of crafting material.
You might be excited to get it the first time….but if you do Karka Queen enough you’ll have 20+ of both versions of the settler inscription/insignia recipes.
If you manage to loot the actual inscription/insignia (not the recipe), those you can sell and should be happy to get rather than the recipe.
I have never gotten loot from Fluffy or the Asura champ that spawns before it.
It’s not a bug, you can’t use those items to port out of the Mists. the PvP lobby and WvW are both part of the mists. You can’t use them while you’re in an instance either (i.e. your home instance or personal story steps).
It’s basically a custom waypoint from your current location to another spot on the map. As you cannot see Tyria at all on your map from the PvP lobby, I highly doubt that using the terrace pass, airship pass or home portal stone will work from there. I’m betting that the Hall of Monuments stone will not work from there either as it would be the same deal since it has a real location on the map of Tyria.
The only way I’ve gotten the grey star to go away is by replaying that entire episode from start to finish.
I wish that grey star wasn’t a thing. I don’t care which episode was my most recently played. If I completed it and got the achievements then quit the episode, it should show the completed with achievements icon. If I didn’t finish the achievements…sure grey star away, but if I’m done with the episode, I don’t want to have to play through the entire thing just to get the grey star to go away.
I’d love to be chosen…but we’ll see.
The revenant cannot use a staff. Only Axe/mace and hammer. Not sure why people keep making pointless posts about stuff that has never been confirmed by the devs.
The only weapons we know about so far are Axe/mace and hammer. We’re pretty sure they can use sword too, and the rest is speculation. Was the OP poorly worded, sure, but if they get staff it’s nice to think about what would look nice.
And it’s fixed!!
Yay new news
we don’t even know that they’re getting staff…..but if they are then tormented or chaos.

except…broken link is broken.
For me…I’m finishing map completion on several characters, getting all of my sylvari up to lvl 80 while doing that. Saving gold, doing dungeons when I feel like it, harvesting/gathering along the way, doing the daily ascended crafting to save those mats for later things and when I get bored with that I find a Silverwastes chest farm or do the regular events there. Might drop into Dry Top and use the keys I’ve accumulated. Thinking about finding a giant slayer guild to work on that. Still plenty to do between now and whenever we get HoT.
Still waiting on bunny ears… at least these items will come back at some point. >.<
Then you’ll want to find a dungeon group. You’ll get 20 fragments per dungeon path (per day) in addition to the gold and other drops in the dungeon.
Haven’t found many of those…
Things like in Sparkfly Fen: there’s a chest behind a veteran Ooze near a vista. There’s one back in the Nightmare court cave down near Flamefrog in Diresight Caverns (around the POI), There is another one in the center of Aleem’s Pennace guarded by a Vet Risen, and up in the Shattered Keep there are two hidden there. Those are the non-jumping puzzle chests in that one zone.
Every zone (I think) has at least one hidden somewhere and some are easier to get to than others. I know the ones in Sparkfly best since I’ve explored the most there waiting for Teq.
Edit: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_basic_chests There’s a good list of the various chests around Tyria.
