Might Stacking with Phalanx is AWESOME!

in Warrior

It’s tough going 30 into tactics for a PvE build…It’s a good trait in a bad traitline.

not really, you get boon duration, strength in numbers(?), improved banners, party might stacking

that means 150*5 power+ 25*4 might stacks worth of power and almost perma banner… overall i’d say it is actually an extremely strong PvE trait lane

korelg.7862

Well, I’ve been trying this for my PvE warr and it is just wonderfull how I can keep 25 stacks with zero effort, Phalanx + Runes of strength are just too good, the only downside is that it works that well only with GS, you can still do some good stuff with LB though Fire blast (6) + FGJ (6) + Elite Signet (5) in adition with the +30% boon duration from trait line and the +45% might duration from runes all those things give extremely long might stacks

well, whats the general concensus about Phalanx Strenght? to me, it is just so darn good

race restrictions on armor are pointless, still thinking inside the current system, there should be a way to get a race’s aproval, so lets say you complete certain achievements and that certain race will accept you in their ranks so you now can wear their special clothes.

a pretty simple system and an extra goal for completionists

I bought a bunch of keys when Lovestruck weapons came out, never gonna do it again.

Pretty much every MMO with a cash shop has this kind of gamble items on sale, but it sucks… it wouldn’t be so bad though if they also sold weapon skins for a fixed price.

make BL chest just an alternative to get cash shop items, dont block stuff behind it, specially now with the wardrobe thing, more people will be willing to buy full sets of skins

Feedback/Questions: Legendaries in Wardrobe

1st of all, I’ve to say it baffles me how selfish people can be.

Now, there is absolutely NO reason for an uproar, you made your legendaries and enjoyed havin 2 of them for quite a while, now the game evolves and you get accountbound skins, sure some people will have 2 legendaries for the price of one, but they wont have the convenience of stat swapping which is a HUGE thing.

So please guys, stop being so kitten selfish… I really hope Anet doesn’t make a huge mistake like the Flamekissed fiasco

objectively there is absolutely NO reason to feel unhappy about this wardrobe thing, it only brings good things:

-Gem store skins are now bought once and you get them for all your characters
-You no longer destroy a set of armor/weapons to change your looks
-Skins no longer use up your inventory/bank space

Regarding “charges” we already have charges, they are called transmutation crystals and it would be stupid to think Anet would get rid of such a source of revenue, and thats actually good for us, if they keep getting money we’ll get better content, also by making gem store skins accountbound it actually makes them a bit less profitable, but transmutation is still profitable, so we might start getting some new in-game skins for a change

all in all I’d say this wardrobe thing is all goods and no bads, people should feel happiness or indifference, but never unhappiness… its not logical

its sad to see a change which could offer more profit, and more user usability, as well as enhance the game, still have the same core problems. Its unlikely once this change goes through another fix will come in a long time.

problems still unsolved

1) best to stack these charges because one day you may need it, which leads to only use once per charachter, aka few users buy transmutation stones often
2)every time you change clothes, you have to pay a fee, then pay a fee to change back
3) hunting any cosmetic that you already have something good for is a waste of time and resources

these problems diminish the game as a whole, by giving players less goals, less need to get special karma gears, etc and diminish their profits by having the vast majority of players who never, or rarely make use of transmutation stones.

so yeah, nice smoother system, to bad its still got big problems as a system as a whole. In a system of unlocks, people will use trans stones on anything they think looks cool, in the current system they will use trans stone only on what looks coolest.

its not a good system.

1) best to stack these charges because one day you may need it, which leads to only use once per charachter, aka few users buy transmutation stones often

Not really, that only applies if you keep your look unchanged for long periods of time, I change it quite often, even when levelling up new characters

2)every time you change clothes, you have to pay a fee, then pay a fee to change back

I don’t really see this as a problem, is more like a bussiness model and I’m ok with it, in exchange for this I keep getting completely free content updates

3) hunting any cosmetic that you already have something good for is a waste of time and resources

Are you serious? now there is actually an incentive for completionists, I’m not that much of a collector, but even I am getting urges to complete my skins collection, even get all those ugly low lvl skins

the system is way better that what we already have, and honestly is quite fair for the players

I think what people seem to be misunderstanding from the complaints to this system is that Anet is monetizing the wrong thing for their consumers. It’s great you’re unlocking all these awesome skins, but it’s too bad you can’t use them without paying Gems, or paying an increasing amount of gold to convert into Gems.

You realize that nothing has changed from the system, except now your non-80 xmute stones will count towards level 80 gear (albeit at a 3-to-1), right? Other than that, what has changed about xmute stones other than being called charges?

And for the record, if you can convert in-game gold you’ve farmed into gems to purchase xmute charges, then it is not a requirement to purchase anything. You can get all of the xmute stones/charges and anything else you want on the gem store just by playing the game without additional purchases just like your precious Diablo III. I do hope you realize this. Please god realize this. Otherwise you fail at GW2.

exactly the point, nothing has changed and the old system had everyone sitting on transmutation stones, and people never changing their gear, and choosing only one look per charachter, which is very bad for a game that wants horizontal progression through cosmetics.
there is no horizontal progression or vertical progression with this system.

I will definitely be applying certain skins onto multiple characters, of which I couldn’t do before without having multiple source skins.
….and when they come out with some new, cool looking stuff, then i’ll buy it and apply it as desired.

It’s a system just like DCUO’s except with the transmutation stone requirement (which isn’t much) and I loved it in that. It’s like you guys are actually afraid of having more options at your disposal. In DCUO, it WAS exciting to get a new skin. DCUO’s skin unlocks weren’t even account wide, so what ANet is doing is pretty great.

and why can’t people choose one look for their character and ‘sit on it’? It is their character…and only they know what they want it to look like. I know what I want my character to be like from the creation, once I obtain that…why should I have to change it?

no system would have forced you, and its not like DCUO system at all, DCUO you unlock a style item and can use it whenever you want, you dont have to pay money every time you change your style.

If it was like DCUO system it would be fine.

but this is not going to increase the desirability of transmutation stones (in your example it has the exact same value it had before to you) and its not going to increase the desirability of any armor that isnt the best right now.

yeah people will use stones to put the expensive hard to get gear on their other charachters, and then it will just sit there for months at a time. And they wont be trying to make that volcanus once they have dawn, because they can only use one anyhow.

DCUO charges you for every Content (story, dungeons, powers, etc) patch they release, so no thanks, I’ll take the GW2 system any day

id like to add because of this, ive took advantage by rerolling a Condition bunker Engineer.
and its so easy to play with little to no Disadvantage. you would think with such high DPS from conditions there would be a Catch somewhere but look at Rabid, carrion, apothecary, dire etc etc.

they are all defensive and dealing alot of dmg.

WIN WIN

true, Dire seems a bit unfair, since condition damage doesn’t need an extra stat (precision) to do good damage, that makes a bunker character with a full stack of the offensive stat

Secondly, direct damage is countered directly by toughness. Use that big, sexy human brain of yours and figure something out. Since conditions have no direct counter, they effect everyone equally. Therefore, high toughness targets don’t counter condi damage. So while Might-stacking is there to boost your damage against the toughness counter, why does it boost condi damage?

Ever thought about this: conditions are meant to counter tanks?
And that low toughness tagets (like zerkers) counter condition builds, because they wont get any extra damage because of their lack of defense?

That’d be great if direct damage countered conditions. It’d be like rock/paper/scissors. Tank counters direct, condi counters tank, direct counters condi.

But it doesn’t work that way.

Conditions can counter every build.

Condi damage can be countered by a condi-tank, how? stack vitality and -condi duration, put some cleansing utilities and you have the perfect condi tank, direct damage will eat you alive though, but thats ok you can’t expect to counter everything with 1 build, can you?

EDIT: ugh… is it me or posts are dissappearing? too bad, we had such a good discussion here…

im full berzerker and im finding near impossible to kill FUll bunkers..

yet bunkers seem to beneift from low condi dmg.. and too much defenese.

this isnt balanced Surely…

you cant kill a full bunker, but a full bunker can’t kill you either, this is like what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, zerker damage goes crazy sometimes though and having such spiky damage makes PvP less interesting, I remember a previous MMO I played, there was this class that had a 1-shot skill, surely for that guy who kills you instantly is fun, but it gets anoying for the rest and it gets old quite fast anyways

Condis did something no power build can do.

in Profession Balance

korelg.7862

Condition damage can certainly do really high damage BUT! it takes a loooong time and it can be cleansed midway, no decent player will ever let a condition run its full duration, doing that is like staying still taking a beating of direct damage

you see, cleanse is to condition damage what dodge/block is to direct damage and you have to learn to use it, condition damage is quite well balanced and, as with any other skill, there might certainly be some op skills that need some tweaking, bun that does not make conditions, as a whole, unbalanced

What class(es) do you play and how are you cleansing your condis?

Got any vids up so you can prove that there are periods of time that you’re avoiding condi damage just as long as those where you avoid direct damage?

I play Mesmer (main), Guardian, Thief and Warrior.

on Mesmer I use cleanse mantra and cleanse on heal, on Guardian healing signet, 1 cleanse every 10(?) sec trait and consecration depending on the situation, as for my thief and warrior I havent played much pvp with them.

now, as Dalanor and Whyme said, you can even prevent condition from being aplied to you, so for condi damage you have the usual active defense (dodge/block/blind) and on top of that you can cleanse them midway AND the full damage takes a really long time, in some cases you can even heal twice in between

for direct damage you have the usual active defense and toughnes/armor, so both are pretty much balanced

direct damage can be diminished pasively via toughnes, condi damage can be diminished actively via cleanse. Both sources of damage have their own gameplay and are quite well balanced

almos forgot you can use -condi duration runes/food which directly reduces the condition damage aplied to you, having -40% condi duration instantly reduced 40% of the damage!! is like having perma protection but even stronger

I might fall in that category.

I want that armor for my charr but without the blue hue.
But what bothers me isn’t that it’s too revealing, it’s that it exaggeratedly accentuates the breasts. If the character was naked, the outline of her bosom wouldn’t be like that clear.
I doubt they’ll remove the blue skin anyway, because without the female character nipples would be exposed.

i’m sorry if my english is wrong

Today i gotta admit that i’m frustrated, dissapointed, kittened off and probably mad at them. Who? a certain guild of Kodash server.

I’m in a casual guild of Baruch Bay server. We have not so much players online and we are not into WvsW a lot, however i managed to get a guild group of payers looking for something to do tonight and 4 of them needed the Obsidian Sanctum achievement. I did that several times so i asked them if they wanted to do it. It’s a cool place to go… unless you find the guys that made me mad today.

My group and I fell a lot of times in a lot of rooms, using mesmers portals and a lot of tries to get to the dome where the enemies are in different cages. So far we found enemies from other servers that never attacked us, they were just minding their business and doing the puzzle like we did, they never attacked us and we never did attack them. However… at the dome, i read in the map channel that some players from my server died because of some guys at the top. One minute later i see how 2 players from the top come to the dome and start attacking us. At that moment we didn’t realize that it would turn into a nightmare.
Those 2 players were not killing us, they were just being annoying, a lot of Fears, Knockbacks, pull skills. They were having a fun time and i laughed a bit since it was a good Trolling moment for them. Some fun isn’t bad sometimes and they were not killing us anyway. Once i finally made it to the top, wich was extra hard with them around, they killed me in a blink (lvl 14 mesmer as i was helping my guild). Then 3 more enemies came from the top, and they 5 killed my friends… forced us to retreat to the beggining of all the puzzle, we lost 30 minutes because of it.

Then i did pay attention and I noticed their guild name “***********”. My guild did retreat and I watch with pain in my eyes how try after try after try in 2 freaking hours, those guys keep fearing us into cliffs, killing us time after time and blocking our goal. We tried everything, everyone in my server left because of them and the last 5 players were the one from my guild. At a point 1 of my guild also had to go and we were 4 against those trolls… it wasn’t funny anymore.
I switched into my main character, used my commander tag, went to gendarran and asked for help of the server. At that point the entire kodash guild was waiting for us in the WayPoints and nobody from my server could land down because they instantly killed us. We tried to go down 5 at same time, but since everyone needed the achievement, only 1-2 players surviving wasn’t a choice. Finally 6 players that recalled my name from marionette came to help and we slaughtered all the enemies from that Kodash guild with joy. It seems we would finally be able to complete the puzzle. However… i was wrong.

I guess they had a mesmer up, and before we could reach the top of the well, the mesmer would port all 4 of their allies up. Eventually none of the 12 players of my server were able to get to the top of that well. They were using fears even before we could reach them. They had a necro, an engineer and specially traited to be annoying.

1 hour later my server had to surrender, we tried hard, we wanted to complete it, the 4 guys in my guild were sad because they never had such a bad experience in gw2, we only wanted to complete the achievement… but there was a Kodash guild that was unable to let us complete it.

So… this is a call for help. If you are in kodash server and if you can somehow contact to that nasty guild, please tell them to stop. It’s not funny when trolling gets to this level of annoyance.

Sorry to say this OP, but there are kittens in the real world and they play games too… its too bad, but some people just like to make other people miserable, don’t let it get to you, just avoid them because sadly the PvP areas support this kind of behaviour, they aren’t breaking any rule.

I’ve played Mesmer(main), Guardian, Warrior and Thief and I have to say, Thief is the hardest one to use, specially because of initiative, the stealth mechanics are not easy to master either and their skills are most definately NOT op, are they anoying? yes, are they hard to catch? yes and the initiative system fits perfectly thier concept, but any warrior can out dps a thief, any mesmer can catch a thief, any guard can block a thief’s burst, but also any good thief can roflstomp any other class, it all comes down to the player’s skill.

Get rid of Loot as rewards

All rewards in this game are based around loot. But we never have any use for the loot. Gear progression is capped and the best skins are specifically farmed for/purchased
.
Keep dropping crafting materials – but please introduce a loot system that we can actually use…

they could add new recipes like they have been doing for back items, new FABULOUS skins only obtainable via crafting (not the mystic toilet), using drops exlusive to some monsters on a specific area or specific boss loot… or something like that

It’s funny because the gear grind here is worse than it is in WoW.

I’m actually back playing WoW. I had come to GW2 to escape the grind among other things and, since Nov-12, GW2 is the grindiest game I’ve ever played. WoW is a piece of cake in comparison. In WoW I can grind out a set of gear in 1-2 months and I’m done grinding for the rest of the tier. Here the grind is never over. GW2 has taught me that a fast steep grind is far less grindy than a long slow one that is never over. And, I can maintain alts in WoW—good luck gearing them up in GW2.

I’m back playing WoW as well. I don’t think the gear grind even qualifies as a grind. You get to do a fun raid once a week and it’s only a few hours. Pvp gear isn’t even a grind if you enjoy pvp because they gave everyone the same damage reduction. Just starting out, you may hit like a wet noodle but you’re still useful.

oh god! those dreadful raid nights!! raiding was actually what made me quit wow, it was the worst thing I had ever experienced in a game… the problem wasn’t the many failed atempts though, it was that raiding wasn’t done for fun, I was raiding to get a chance to roll against my guildies for 1 piece of gear… nope, no thank you

Doing Tequatl was very akin to raiding but it was just for fun, for the glory of beating it 1st on your server, that’s how dificult content should be, not an endless grind for more gear

I never played GW1, but i did play WoW for several years and GW2 is not one bit simillar to WoW, this game is NOT a classic MMORPG, I don’t know what game have you guys been playing, because your comments and complaints don’t match the reality of the game, not one bit.

I dont mind “shallow” lore as long as it is engaging

It could be mistery, action, comedy, anything counts as long as it is enjoyable and engaging
