i’m currently going for a more defensive gear setup and offensive traits

Knight Armor, Celestial trinkets, Celestial sword + Valk focus/torch and Hammer

Traits 10/30/30/0/0 taking the +15% crit chance for 1h weps and AH, you get really nice dps with sword and also have hammer that coupled with AH and your high toughness will allow you to tank easily

what i think would give an edge to Sword over GS is the versatility that gives you the off-hand weapon, you can keep the nice dps of the sword and have the defensive utility of Focus/Shield or the more offensive utility of Torch, then again, GS has good cc so i’d say both are even, really, such minimal dps difference shouldn’t mater that much

Levels segregate the game world

Levels segregate the game world.

People cant enjoy the full of the game world without leveling first.

if players take their time, they miss out on all the cool things happening all over the place.

So no point not rushing to max level. but that leads to burnout since the skill/trait system doesnt reward well for leveling between 1-30, 30-40, 40-60, 60-80.

you know you can get to lvl 80 in ONE day through crafting right? costs a bit of gold, but saves tons of time

ok this is both a good and a bad idea, 400 gems a piece i think is too much, but i like the idea of selling separate pieces, maybe in the future they can sell the full armor set at the usual 800 gems price and each piece separately for 200 gems, that would be nice

still i think these 2 pieces are waaaaaay overpriced, if you wanna sell 1 armor piece for half the price of a full set, then make it worth it like adding some cool effect or some really good design

I would love to see more emotes in general. When you play for a long time, emotes tend to keep things fun.

I would like to see a new/ next level of emotes when dealing with NPC’s.

Guild Wars 2 has this in place already with everyone’s own personal story- we could use specific emotes related to the specific choices we made at character creation.

different emotes/walking/figting stances according to your alignment, that would be awesome

legendary far too common?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

korelg.7862

Only about 3-8% of all players have a legendary I’d estimate.

Having 4k APs puts you in the 90th percentile of all players. Most legendary wielders I’ve seen have at least 5k and have been playing for a year, making them an even smaller portion, which is why I’m guessing 3-8%.

There are tons of players without legendarys, they just don’t play much. So the issue is not the rarity, the issue is that there’s little reason to play the game long term unless you are going for a legendary.

I have 7k ap and don’t have a legendary, I’d say is even less people maybe 1~2% but it all deppends on how much people is playing the game currently

there certainly are people that has crafted many legendaries and if you ask me I think that people that only have 1 legendary is quite rare, or you have none or you have meny, but having only one is quite rare

Help me choose a class :D

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: korelg.7862

korelg.7862

Hi, I am quite a new player in GW2. I first started out as a thief and I found out that thief sucks in PVE, so I decided to have a change and play Spvp instead. After playing and watching matches in Spvp, I realised thief is not easy to play. Mainly due to low defence and lousy condition removal. Thus, I was thinking of rerolling.

So, I was wondering if you guys can help me choose a all-rounder class that is easy and fun to play. By the way, I have ping ranging from 250~300ms.

Can you guys be more specific when answer my question.
Example (Please don’t just say “ranger”, give answer like “spirit ranger” or “condition ranger”.)

Thanks.

b-but! thief is fun in PvE!! I have a Mesmer, a Guardian and a Thief, all 3 of them full PvE my thief is a condi thief and is incredibly fun, unless i run into a condi necro or sword warrior xD

anyways, if you want a toon for soloing content Mesmer is the way to go Staff and GS have amazing kiting potential, you can kill almost everything alone

I think this is an important issue, Anet should be adding 1 set of non-gemstore armor every time they add a gemstore set.

don’t get me wrong, i’ve bought most of the gemstore sets, but this game’s progress is based on aesthetics, so it is important to have something along those lines, maybe add new models to the dungeon sets, or full sets via achievment, not only backpacks

btw, back items have been really lame lately, holo wings were okay, teq wings kinda meh and that back item from scarlet… oh boy, that’s ugly xD I’d rather wear the pink quaggan xD

knight set with ruby? worth? might build

i understand both of you guys…BUUuuUuUUuuUuuUT my main question is:

the first build works fine but the damage output is not great…so if i put some ruby/rune in my knight set will work more propely or gonna have a sad nightmare??? or i keep up with rune of strenght? or change for rune of fighter? oooooor put some emerald? what yu guys think?

I dont want to go zerk because i think it lost the sense of be guardian…i just…dont like it…LOL

ok, I’ve been testing different builds with my guardian and the gear choice will totally deppend on what are you doing with your traits, as of now I have a tanky DPS build using Sword(celestial)/focus(berserker) or torch(berserker) and Hammer(celestial), Knight armor with boon duration runes (2 water, 2 traveler and 2 monk) celestial necklace and earrings and Knight rings

for traits I’m running with 10/30/10/20/0 and that gives a really sweet amount of DPS using sword (60%crit + 15%crit from trait) and solid tankyness using hammer

so there you have it, pick your traits and then pick your gear according to what you wanna do, also is not necesary to have full knight armor, you can use 3 knight and 3 zerker or whatever gives you the best results

Defensive way of doing high damage?

Cmf,

Gw1 had a lot of counter skills, but for the most part they have been streamlined into gw2 mechanics, they are now known as simply retaliation and confusion. Thats why I suggested giving guardian confusion.

Following the gw1 formula, I could imagine guardian having skills that effects change depending upon what the target is doing. Similar to daze I guess.

For example, protector’s strike when it counters could deal double damage to foes who are still attacking you. If the foe is no longer attacking it will daze them instead.

For the most part, due to the way gw2 plays it will be VERY difficult to emulate what was found in gw1 completely.

So confusion would be the only logical choice for guardian. Enemies will be punished for attacking guardian with retaliation up and they will be punished for spamming skills when confusion is on them.

I think it would be great to give guardian something like “symbol of confusion”, a symbol that applies confusion. It would definitely be punishing and give guardian the point control dominance anet says they are suppose to have.

Because right now, their area control is a joke.

the problem is, confusion doesn’t quite fit the guardian theme, what i think would be better is some kind of rework to burning, something like

Burning:
- deals x damage per second
- the damage increases y% for each second you keep the condition up on the same target
- stacks duration

as it is now, burning is the most boring condition in the game, does lame damage and has no “side effects”, so thinking about how burning works in real life, the longer you burn, the bigger the damage.

I think something along those lines could enhance the flavor of our class, we are the Fiery Deffenders after all

Theme only matters if we are role playing.

Other classes have access to retaliation, protection, regen and burning. So are they out of theme too??

yeah, but still, there is a reason why you choose to play guardian and if we could get a fix while keeping the feeling of the class wouldn’t it be better? also we already have many traits that work for a burning build, so reworking the condition’s effect should be easier… I’m not much of a RPer but I want to keep the class theme to a certain degree at least

I thinkg Guardians should work more on a counteratack philosophy, skills like Mace’s 3 are in line with these but are clearly not enough, we need more reflecting/retaliating skills

but too many block/counteratack skills would be op, so there should be counteratack skills that react but do not block, so you rely on your basic stats/self healing to survive.

also Retaliation should scale with toughness

well the transmutation stones “issue” would be solved by needing a transmutation stone every time you wanna swap skins, using it would open a new menu where you place your current item and in the other side you can see a list of all your available skins.

that would keep up the transmutaion stones income and would allow for a great QoL system for players

Character animations according to...

korelg.7862

… whether you are charming, diplomatic, etcetera… how do you call that? alignment?

well I think RPers would specially love this, also would give some meaning to a system that seems to do absolutely nothing so far.

Animations that should be included:

Emotes (dance, cheer, laugh, etcetera)
Walking
Dance (desirable, but not critical)
Fighting animations ( this would be the best, along with walking animations)

now, how to apply this? well you could be a nice company and give em for “free” as part of a new patch, starting with a new set of animations for each alignment as previously stated, but could be expanded to a system much like the finisher system, you buy an animation set for a set amount of gems and you can swap it later as you please.

as a nice adition to this you could add voice packs, not really a big effort in the development area, it would be a bit expensive, but if done the right way you could get quite a bit of money from it

Condition Catastrophe

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: korelg.7862

korelg.7862

When conditions hit a full stack, say 25 bleeds, I don’t see why they just don’t make one new condition stack, let’s call it in this case “mega bleed” and each mega bleed ticks as 25 regular bleeds.

Adding one new condition can’t be that taxing on the servers because they’ve already added a new one recently in Torment.

oh boy! imagine a 25 mega bleed stack, that would be hilarious

also, why cant we have named conditions? like korelg’s bleed, korelg’s poison, etcetera

that other solution that someone wrote before, making conditions “explode” at 25 stacks could make a really fun mechanic, say you stack 25 bleeds, adding 1 more will make the stack explode for 1/2 the total damage as direct damage that can also crit so you get to decide, should i keep those bleeds up or just blow it? it would also bring a new set of builds

Living story = players not returning?

in Living World

korelg.7862

First, I am not leaving. I play every day and do most of the LS content.

I am in 3 guilds, 2 of which are dead. I have had friends in my 2 dead guilds start asking me about what is going on in GW2 because they heard about all the new content and where thinking about coming back. So I tell them about all the great updates we have had, but then I have to tell them, “sorry, it was temporary so you missed out”.
It’s a real downer. None of my friends has any interest in returning once they find out they missed so much content that they will most likely never see again. Telling them there is new content every 2 weeks makes no difference it seems.

Has anyone else experienced this with their friends? Opinions? Is LS really a reason not to return?

I think people is missing a point here, the good thing abaout LS is that even if you miss a whole year of LS content, you wont be left behind, you can jump back in the game whenever you want…

I used to play wow, the other day blizz sent me this “huge offer” of 7 free days of game!! but after being away from that game for about 2 years i’d need months just to catch up, THAT sucks, instead in GW2 if i miss LS updates i can just go check the updates page to see what happened and then go back to my heroic deeds as if i’d never left

Have we become spoiled?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: korelg.7862

korelg.7862

I’ve become spoiled.

I tried to play WoW last month. I couldn’t stomach it. 5.2 content has been out since early March. Only thing that has changed was crappy ‘heroic’ scenarios that are kitten easy, and some daily quests in the Barrens.

GW2 has released 13 updates since then, compared to WoW’s 1 since March (had to look it up). Sure I may not be interested in everything that GW2 releases, but it’s still peaks my interest enough to log on an check everything out.

Oh, also I was a huge PvP-er in WoW. I tried queueing for a BG recently. After 9 minutes in queue, i just Alt+f4-ed. The game is no longer worth 15 dollars/month to me.

First off, I’m confused how you couldn’t stomach a few barrens quests or a bg queue (which btw will never take 9 mins if you are lvl 90.) but you can easily handle all the garbage LS content? Spam F 200 times? Do you not remember anything ANet has released? At least 10 x worse than WoW quests, and btw Blizz just let out a ton of new raid content and a new zone that will last a billion times longer than some temporary garbage in GW2.

WoW has already copied or already had every single GW2 feature(lol) so they aren’t unique anymore. Blizz is smart, they aren’t afraid to take a good idea and implement it. ANet on the other hand…. enjoy your zergzergzerg ‘living story’ more like living grind.

This game is terrible right now and it’s sad because it has the most potential out of any MMO out there.

you mean you can still do normal quests? not too long ago i went and tried Tera, all those lame kitten quest drove me away in less than an hour.

“LS garbage” looks like you dont like LS, for me it is fun and convenient

WoW can indeed copy as many features as they want, but at its core is still an old classic MMO, is that bad? not really, I know people that still love the classic style and can’t stand GW2’s style.

“this game is terrible” more like “I dont like this game and I shouldn’t be here”

Have we become spoiled?

nearly the same?

in good groups, good guardians deal MORE damage than warriors. and when you add reflections ,alot more damage.

lol keep thinking that as soon as you try warrior you will see how wrong you are. My warrior deal on average 2x as much dps as my guardian both are using full berserker.

well guardian using full zerker is just wrong, also Zerker warriors provide burst damage, guardians provide sustained damage, so in the long run they will average about the same

Overflows Are Possible

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: korelg.7862

korelg.7862

here is a little tip on how to get to your home server:

-do NOT try to get in the map 5 minutes before the fight, for best results you should get in as soon as the event ends so you can take part on the next one.

-if you still can’t get in, ask to a guildie or a friend that is in the home server to party up with you, that way you can join him/her on the home server

-maps have a soft and a hard cap of players, when the soft cap is reached you will go to overflow, but doing the party trick you will get in immediately. If the hard cap is reached there is no way to get in the map, BUT! you just keep trying to join your friend, at some point someone is gonna log out or get out of the map and if you keep doing the party trick you will get that spot.

still Anet has to address this issue, overflow maps are ok for normal events, but this kind of thing, that require coordinated group effort, it totally ruins the experience

Posted by: korelg.7862

Really, today at Fort Aspenwood I had the most awesome experience beating Tequatl, thanks to all that people working together, we tried for 2 days and on the 3rd one BANG! he went down… it was just amazing and even the kittenty loot at the end could not spoil such a good feeling.

there is one thing that worries me though, as it is now, this encounter will die, none is gonna play it after the event, cause it takes such a huge amount of effort to pull it off, now, don’t get me wrong, having it like this through the event weeks is just perfect, but dont expect people to work this hard weekly if the rewards are so kitten bad.

I’m all up for server-wide PvE objectives, but that only works with the right incentive, this week it was the race to be in the top5 or top10 servers, but what about the upcoming weeks, months, years?
