WvW is fine, but going solo is a bad idea, join a guild and go with them, also if WvW isn’t your cup of tea, go to sPvP

add some cool looking weapon/armor skins to the chest, reduce Key’s price by 50% and you will se how people will buy em like crazy, will actually net Anet a bigger income than they do now.

I have serious problem. As far as I know, mesmer is one of most cool and best classes in game on par with ranger, at least for me.

So I try to do that mesmer, and picking off different classes to see how they look in armor with different weapons. and i stuck.

Done almost each race : norn female, sylvari female, asura male up to lvl 12-20.
And can’t decide on a single race cause noone fit my taste…
I love how “Archmagish” armor look on male bodies, it’s serious, saying “hey im a mesmer im gonna kick your kitten soon” while on most females armors looks like they left circus 5 minutes ago ;/.

As I like sylvari overall animations, I just can’t stand any of the armor look except masquarade set or so ? ( this with huge dress ).

And all the staff is slowly pushing me for my norn ranger due to awesomeness of ranger armors & medium norn specific armors in general.

So what made your mind about race for that Mesmer when it comes to armor looks ?

also, in regards to your question, i picked norn cause i liked the idea of turning into a beast, don’t actually use the racial elite that much, but its still nice to have it xD

well the thing is, your friend is specced for power/precision, if you spec your guardian with tanky stats/traits it becomes quite invincible, in exchange i dont thinka mesmer can do the same, i mean, we have no holy trinity here, but there are still some things you will be better at, we mesmer can do a really good job as dps/support wariors and guardians are kinda strong overall, but by going tanky they loose damage power, meanwhile we can do support and still do pretty decent damage if not the same as a full dps build

just take a look at WoW’s economy, they had copper and silver at the begining too, but now is extremely easy to get gold(copper and silver are worthless, might as well get rid of them) and prices go as high as 50k gold or even more on some items, also this is from my experience that finished at cataclysm, now with MoP it will surely increase… the thing is, getting expensive items is still hard/lame (you have to grind)

think about it differently though. Don’t just say no because YOU personally have an AoE build with your phantasms. think about how much more interesting the entire class would becomes and how many more builds would become viable with these changes.

Right now the mesmer sucks at being a real illusionist. Mesmers simply feel like summoners that summon trash mobs instead of truly confusing and bringing chaos into battle.

ok, but tell me, how am i supposed to do AoE damage then? mind stab? blade flurry(not sure on the name)? the thing is, I love to have so many options to play this class, and i think that aplying those changes(i agree that they sound cool and would fit really nice with the class) would efectively kill the Phantasm build for PvE.

When thinking about class changes you have to think about the class as a whole, because I do agree that for PvP these changes are viable and would be quite cool BUT! for PvE are completely horribad

well this sounds quite nice for PvP… on PvE, Phantasms (iBerserker, iWarden) are our main source of AoE damage, if you take that away you are killing the phantasm focused build and that being the one i use and like the most i’d have to say no to these changes.

well here is another question about sigils, lets see… a couple days ago i asked if illusion hits counted towards the sigil proc, and someone said it doesnt so i was wondering, would it be a waste to put a proc sigil on any off-hand weapon?

pistol: would proc only from the stun bullet
sword: would proc only from parry
focus: does it even have a chance to proc something?

but then i remembered that i used to carry a sword/sword set with fire/air sigil and both sigils would proc from time to time

so here is the question, both weapons have a proc chance on ANY hit regrdles of what weapon provides said hit? or what? maybe illusions do count towards weapon proc…

well what do you guys think?

Sacrificing a a stun (1st target)-> daze (2nd bounce) -> blind (3rd) for a single block and a phantasm with slightly higher DPS that stacks less bleeds? Not worth it. Not even CLOSE to worth it.

Then again I wouldn’t really ever advocate using a build reliant on phantasms for dps.

well that block can turn in a multi-target daze, but the bleed point is true, the swordman hits once and the duelist hits like 5 times or maybe more, BUT! is not such a big diference if you are using mainly power gear, yeah you will lose some damage, but is not really that much to make it not viable

changed again, and i’m working towards the CoE chest piece (so much cleavage xD)

the S/S is indeed viable and quite good, actualy i’d say that is totally on par with S/P the only diference would be the stun from pistol, but you have a counter from the sword, so its quite even

still can’t find the perfect look, but i’m liking this one quite a bit

I don’t think i am such an awesome player, but my PvE experience as a mesmer has been really good, i have no problems dealing damage at lvl 80 and the lvling process was as smooth as posible, i never NEVER felt that my damage was too low, I rarely got killed and solo-killing vets/champs has never been easier…

so please explain me why…. WHY?!?! maybe the problem is the condition-based build, i allways used the direct/phantasm-focused damage build and i’m telling you, it is fun and smooth

why am I the only one that found the mesmer really fun an easy to lvl? i actually had more troubles lvling my warrior and guardian than my mesmer leveling my mesmer i mostly used sword/sword and scepter/pistol then changed to GS and sword/pistol and fell in love with it

this is me, full exotic Knight gear, except for the trinkets/rings/earrings

I use a wierd combination of power and a bit of cond dmg, so i have about 580 cond damage.

do phantasm/clones crit hits count towards the proc?

my 2 cents:

i haven’t actually done any serious testing with this, but i do really well in solo pve and dungeons.

my gear is neither berserker nor rampager, i use knight with the undead runes, this goes with a phantasm/bleed focused build using GS and sword/pistol, with this i usually can sustain 6 stacks of bleed which adds quite a bit of damage

i just don’t get it, my lvling experience as a mesmer was perfect, it was my 1st character and i never had the problem of feeling weak, i did take my time though, so maybe if you rush through maps this “weaknes” issue appears

now if you ask me, i started a guardian and a warrior and it feels so extremely boring to lvl them up… i mean with my mesmer i can even take on champion mobs alone, i’d probably never be able to do that with my warrior or guardian

so yeah, i think that all this people feeling weak on pve is just doing it wrong…

btw i use my own variation of the Legion build and use “knight” gear (power/presicion/toughness)

google for the “legion build” a pretty straight forward build based on Phantasm damage using GS and Sword/pistol

or you could wear a mask… i personally don’t think Norns are too pretty, cause you actually have lots of ways to make em “ugly” plus you have tatoos

man this is totally awesome, I tried yesterday and failed miserably, hated myself, hated the game… but today I came back from the ashes, and beat the kitten out the kitten tower xD it was really fun

also, had many laughs thanks to random people jumping to their demise just because xD

ok basically my suggestion is, give us MORE AWESOME ARMORS!!! i know it might seem irrelevant, but let me explain why this should be one thing to keep on top priority.

GW2 is an awesome game, it is really entertaining, the lvl up experience is great and upon reaching max lvl you still have lots to explore, you have grind if thats what you like, etc…

There is one thing that I and I think a big part of the player base, likes to do: dress up our characters, I mean, to me is a HUGE part of the game, to be able to find cool looking armor is what keeps me moving and even when i manage to put together something cool I want more and i’ll keep looking, crafting, buying or whatever brings me new options…

now, if you ask me, I think GW2 lacks a bit in this department, but dont get me wrong, there are some really cool sets, and doing some mixing you can get a pretty kitten look BUT! it could be better… today i came across this video from Blade&Soul (i hope this isn’t spaming xD) and i though: “ kitten if only i had stuff this awesome in GW2…”

so yeah, my suggestion is, GO CRAZY!! xD give some freedom to your art department and give us some crazy looking gear!!! buff up the gem store!! i’ve spent quite a bit of money in LoL just to get some skins, man I’m so willing to spend money in this game to look better!!

this is my mesmer as of today

my main is a Mesmer, i’ve played it since day -3 and i can say it is indeed viable AND fun un PvE (i’m not much of a PvP person) … BUT! is not an easy profession to master, you have to spend some time actually reading your skills and figuring out what synergizes with what, and so you have multiple choices, you can play a condition damage build, a direct damage/shatter build or a Illusions focused build… so yeah, testing chars in the mists is not really a good idea, i did that with guardians and hated it, now i have mine at lvl 20 and its kinda decent, still find better my mesmer…

this is my PvE Phantasm focused build, feel fre to try it, i’m no expert, but i do fine on dungeons/soloing content.

also for gear you will want to go Knight (power/presicion/toughness) with divinity runes

this might be because the Duellist appears behind you, therefore he is out of range, it shouldn’t be, but is a possibility

if you are using staff as primary weapon i assume you are stacking Condition damage right? so scepter/torch SHOULD work better for ya, but who knows i might be wrong, i’m no whale biologist or anything like that…

PD: GS IS a long range weapon, you just gotta be smart enough to get closer when shooting 2, so you get the boon and the extra damage from the skill, also the range for the sword bounce is quite long, it should be between 600-900

i approve of this, also the idea of “masks” skills sounds really cool, i for one love and still keep the mask that was given to me with my character.

Anet should look at this, also dual pistols.

well this is my full PvE focused build, i can pretty much solo everything except some nasty champions.

i guess a bit of explanaiton comes in handy here, as you can guess my main damage source are illusions, i usually start a fight like this:

GS 2—>4—> Swap to Sword/pistol —>4-→up close 2—> fall back and swap to GS—> spam 1 and keep allways 3 phantasms up

this is my lovely Norn Mesmer xD i like the white/gold combo… i’m saving money though to get the Abyss dye

i dont like Torch, cause dodging breaks the invicivility, that’s not cool at all

we actually need 1 more ranged weapon for MH, Scepter is the Condition damage weapon and we lack a ranged MH weapon for a Power mesmer

well if you are fighting a bad player, yes, this could be a problem, but then again you are against a BAD player so it should not be actually a problem… i think this hurts more on the PvE side most summon skills have more than 10sec CD i think a 20sec fury would be fair

now, what increases the illusion’s damage? Power or condition damage?

I also like to empower the illusions, they can hurt a lot, but given the weapons I use (GS, 2xSword, Pistol) i stack Power, Precision and Toughness… i’ve been thinking if that toughness is really worth stacking instead going full power/precision/+% crit damage

ok so there are this 2 trait skills that grant an extra 15% damage, BUT! here is the problem:

Empowered Illusions: illusions inflict 15% more damage

Phantasmal Strenght: Phantasms do 15% more damage

what i want to know is which ones are the illusions and which are the phantasms, cause Shatter skills also mention Clones, so are there 3 kinds of summon for the mesmer?

this could change my build quite a bit, cause i’ve seen some of this things deal lots of damage (the pistol one, the sword/greatsword one, the staff) and some that deal almost no damage (the scepter ones, some sword clones, one from the GS, etc)
