the real failure of guild hall is the lack of functionality, even when fully upgraded, they don’t provide all the services you find in a town, so everyone will still hang out in towns and the guild hall remains useless. it is the lack of basic functionality even when fully upgraded that is stupid.

Hey,
The only incentive was skins and if you didn’t like the skin, well you didn’t have any reason to care about it.

You are playing the wrong game. And maybe with the wrong guild.

In my guild there are about 230 people, of which about 30-40 are pretty active, so business as usual.

We maxed out everything yesterday. World first. One of the world firsts at least.

Nobody ever demanded anything from any of us. Boss-man would update us on what was needed and each contributed however much they wanted. Then a couple of other guildies went crazy and decorated the place and now it looks awesome, I mean, we have a Chinese Garden kind of thing going (we call it “Beer Garden”), we have arcs, our guild initials on the walls, it’s awesome! We also had a jumping puzzle that led to a part of the map that wasn’t even finished by Anet, I spent maybe an hour just exploring that.

As for the raids – what exactly did you want? To shower you with money? You have legendary armor, you have skins and exclusive minnies to show off. If you want a gear treadmill, I suggest you play some other game. Because that’s not what GW2 is about.

The GH was not a resounding success, but it was NOT a failure.

in order to max out everything with a scew of 20-30 active players… each player will have to donation 2 legendary worth of material and that is just stupid.

how do we know it not finished? missing legendary… not that i care for them. but the promised content of HoT simply isn’t there.

and the reason they have teething problem in wvw and other content is really because of the short beta. development isn’t just about making the game, but also testing it.

anyway even if this is a HoT beta, why is it bad? i get to lvl my game and explore the world earlier, it all fun.

the 32bit client never seem to survive it.
however the 64bit client has never given me problems…

maybe anet should add some resource cap(automatically lower setting) in the 32bit client? i know u can lower the setting manually but there should be some cap for it so ppl don’t have to play with the setting everytime.

basically how LFG is done now is you state the boss u want to do and the class you have.

LFR VG ele etc.

LFR = looking for raid. and hopefully a raid team will invite u… but because of the punishing mechanic of raid, most don’t really like to take new players so it abit rough for a newcomer.

And again, they didn’t nerf dungeon rewards to decrease gold faucets. They did it because they didn’t want to bugfix old/develop new dungeon content.

what if i told you the real reason is free account. fotm and raid is boosted because they have mastery which mean you have to buy HoT. the dungeon isn’t really broken, they had work well enough to last for years, so what if they never improve it? no body cares.

but dungeon are now FREE CONTENT. that is the real issue.

stability is kind of a breakbar… stability should be restandardize with breakbar. but i understand why they didn’t is because this make softer CC useful for eating stability… but ya i don’t like there being 2 set of mechanic, but i can understand why they are afraid to touch stabilty.

to be honest, i found the living story to be very interesting. yes they screw up the 1st season abit but it was a very impressive attempt. and yes there is now a content dought after HOT, as the developer are still trying to “finish” HOT…

regarding the class balancing, i do feel HOT did not correct some of the underlying problem in them, but i do not feel the mechanic isn’t fun or interesting, i feel it was one of the more interesting mmo i played. it just always going to be different and I do agree certain class are going to continue to be underwhelming for sometime.

the shift to “hardcore” HOT content is indeed making pugging worst and worst. for this I blame the free account which spoof alot of players from grinding with “noob”. the culture in gw2 just isn’t the same anymore but what is done is done, players are now force into large guild as small guild too are crushed by the drive to make thing more guild oriented.

Raid is stupid because the TAG and LFG system is broken. hell HOT was launch with the TAG broken and causing players to disconnect. while it is more stable now, alot of the features still need work. that is more important then the raid wing themselves, because every player anet loses, ain’t coming back, first impression counts as much as the amount of content. raid wouldn’t be done by just 1/4 of the population if it didn’t left players confused at the door with a LFG that doesn’t even work.

Nice. The hardcore crowd has already beaten the final boss in HoT three days after release, the causal players are essentially locked out thanks to empty events, etc… Excellent job ArenaNet.

honestly my friend and I ain’t that hardcore, but we figure out how to get to the last boss by “gaming it”, this is what happens when you design a flawed system based on grinding. player who are “lucky” and grind on the right map will end up completing everything faster and with less work.

then more player will follow on those “path to completion” and the map will feel even more empty. i wish the kept the heart system which would have cause players to spread themselves out rather then to camp forever at the place they can get the most exp.

I agree that the grind fest is and will break the flow of the game, make it stressful for player who feel like they are slowing down their friends as they level slower. especially since there is like so many “gate” in between story that completing them becomes a prayer that the next story isn’t gated. it just silly.

you do realize deep in the gliding trait line you can glide in stealth.

i got those point just by using a thief to stealth my party. it is a pain in the kitten as it hard to coordinate everyone to land at the same time into the SR.

however SR does not help the fact that many of the point REQUIRES you to KILL the champion to get it… :\

the fact that mastery has become a disappointing grind fest with no unique mission other then to kill a bunch of mob has destroy 90% of the map as all the player zerg that 10% “high protein” area of the map.

also bigger map = megaserver concept breakdown, you end up with 1 or 2 players in the other areas since those “no interest” area do not get their own instances. it really a bunch of problem that pile on top of one another to make it worst.

but the root problem is the lame introduction of a grind fest instead of the story/heart system gw2 used to depend on.

SOLUTION: REPLACE GRINDING WITH HEART AGAIN!

I know alot of people hate heart, but HoT have very good chain event across several interesting map, heart make it visible to player where they have not done their event, it spread the player base out…

it wouldn’t be kitten if they didn’t try to replace player level with mastery on the UI, that is a stupid decision.

but the biggest problem is instead of introducing diversity with mastery, the fact that they are level by grinding instead of mission like the hearts and story in the old game, means that player can only advance by grinding REGARDLESS of the path they wish to pursuit. this means mastery doesn’t affect how you grind your toon, this mean people going to places like COF P1 and bug the dungeon to level. this mean it is STUPID. sure anet will “fix” those thing, but player will continue to find the next grind spot, rather then encouraging gameplay, it kills it since it doesn’t matter what they are trying to mastery, there will ONLY BE ONE WAY to do everything in the most effective way.

the problem isn’t with what the mastery are, the problem is how you GET the mastery has NOTHING TO DO with the mastery ITSELF. be it you are trying to communicate with a dog or trying to fly to the sky, you get it done in the SAME WAY. that’s poor planning and the servers are paying the price for it with crashes as people crash into certain “high exp” map. so GG.

the fact that there was going to be 4 map was known and people were disappointed before the launch. to be honest, i don’t think the size of content is where they kitten up, the poor integration(replacing lvl with mastery) is where it when south fast, we want MISSION that UNLOCK THING, not grinding…

i never thought i would say it, but I rather do hearts than whatever this mastery kitten is. the way the presented lvling is wrong. it doesn’t feel like an achievement, it just feel like grinding for a game we were promised “doesn’t force you to grind”…

anet need to do alot of reflection, they screw up big in mechanic design, I am not sure if they can recover or salvage this.

HoT is a continues to show Anet suck at making end boss. the design was ugly… i mean some of the 1990s final fantasy game have better “mid boss” than anet’s “final boss”…. lol!

the mechanic this time is interesting but however it too buggy to enjoy it. I have a portal spawn in the middle of the air and I fell trying to reach it. but that not the point, the point is it LOOK STUPID. how is anet going to attract customer with ugly bosses when most player decide if they will buy a game based on LOOKS?

Megaservers Broken?

however i do suspect that there is a high crash/drop rate of player that is causing servers to empty over time. and the way that the server balances by port new ppl into the map is broken. I have been ported into map where the countdown is at 4 second! and was instantly wiped by the dragon… you can see the problem right there, the code doesn’t account for event stages.

dynamic scaling doesn’t seem to be addressing the lost of player near the end properly too, that need to be strengthen. (as in weaken the mob when there are fewer players)

i also suspect dynamic scaling upward when there is alot of player is causing server crash too, we were doing guild hall event with 80+ players, and it would keep crashing halfway, before it was decided to complete it with half our strength, i suspect the mob increase from scaling is exceeding what the megaserver expect to handle…

ya overall, it lack scaling polish…

map has the same number of ppl. the problem is the map are bigger and players tend to zerg, bigger map = bigger area of map that will be empty.

who ever conceptualize the map didn’t take into account how player in gw2 play differently from other MMO, that gw2 is about zerging. we don’t “camp” at certain spot away from other people and spread ourselves out to maximize loot, because we get more loot by staying together.

the problem isn’t the grinding, it is that you can’t play with your friend who will be grinding at different levels. i reach the last story mission and map and the game is only out for a few days, but i can’t play with most of my friend because every few mission there will be a wall and the entire party has to wait for the SLOWEST member to farm his way up to our level and it demoralizing for them to feel they are slowing everyone down, this is just stupid.

the problem is in the way the content is all dump onto the player, i was expecting something like living story season 3 where the player can ease in, or a 1 shot campaign, what i got is a game that is continously interrupted and forces you to farm lvls… I wish the mastery is unlock by actually completing something than experience grind.

it is also stupid that the mastery lvl replaces the player lvl in the UI. that is just WRONG.

the problem with the map is they are larger yet they do not have meaningful change to their population cap. and it not just the HoT map, WvW is dying because of this nonsense. in map where ppl zerg, you are left with a big chunk of map that has no player where the megaserver system fails.

also the timed event thing that kill all player is stupid when the game like to spawn player like in the map’s “last 10 second” and you wp in only to be murdered by the game. this is STUPID.

if i want to play WoW, i will play WoW. i have no interest in playing GW2 as a buggy version of WoW.

despite grinding being a problem is however not the main problem with HoT, what is the problem is the tons of game breaking bugs, crashes and reset. have you tried testing guild hall with a 100 people? the instance will crash! we did the guild hall mission dozen of times before enough people give up and the instance finally stop crashing! pls focus on fixing game breaker before you mess up more stuff in a buggy game. only then adjust the grinding because it is not healthy.

people are paying way MORE than what the dungeon are worth, thus the value of it is not in the gold or loot they get at all, they are paying to complete the dungeon and for getting the ascended stat which you need to unlock by buying every item in the dungeon, they don’t even get much loot since they skip the chest. :\

the real farm is sliverwaste, not dungeon, how dungeon are farm is by selling path, reducing the gold will actually lead to increase demand for people to carry in dungeon.

i carry 2 noob to arah p4 today, u think i will still do it after the nerf? then what will the noob do? pay someone 18g to finish it? this is what people are doing NOW, it will only get worst…

if they balance out the reward, it be more interesting, people will want to do cof p3 then trash cof p1 over and over again, nerfing however is not the solution, BALANCE is.

when some ppl actually PAY gold to fill up the 4 men needed for arah p1 just to complete the boss and leave, if they think gold is the problem, they don’t understand the player economy. buying and selling path is way too profitable and would become only more profitable if they remove the legit players that is reducing those demands by allowing weaker player to play and learn from the better players.

remove the money in dungeon will actually INCREASE the money in dungeon, selling path will get even more hardcore. what is that 1-3g means compare to the 6-20g people are selling dungeon for? did they really think it over? did they really understand how people really “farm” dungeon? they don’t do it for the loot, they do it to SELL it.

it would only make legit run less favorable to selling them.

pvp isn’t as fun as gw1, no deathmatch, and they even took out water match that was in during launch, i still pvp but it’s stupid atm, even stronghold is stupid because it make the match draggy, more fight less running around like we are playing first person dota ._.

as much as i am hype about more raid and fotm and believe those content are for me,

nerfing dungeon make no sense cause some ppl are having a hard time with them already, there is a reason why people are willing to pay 10+ gold for dungeon completion; that dungeon are worth more sold then completed speak volume, all this would do is make it even harder for those casual players to do dungeon and create a even higher demand for paid completion.

we want raid to be challenging so it clearly NOT going to be for everyone, especially those who find dungeon which is mild compared to raid and fotm a troubling prospect to complete, it would simply drive the causal gamers away and this game NEED causal gamer as pve is pretty empty as it is now(hence the f2p), it will be even more so if the message anet is sending is raid or gtfo…

let us have our raid and let them have their low challenge fun. anet should instead concern itself with how to reward fotm and raid better!

in the past, the commander will just call the subgroup to start their own LFG, but the new tag system breaks the parties. and now we have to get them to leave squad, LFG to taxi people in than get everyone in those party to join squad 1 by one…

healing power is 1 stat, condi or zerker build eat 3 stat, it obiviously not going to be moon and sun apart.

if you have healing being a big thing, people WILL be lazy, cause why not? from what I seen in the raid, the boss does a constant dmg and that is really what the healer deal with, for the dmg cause by failing to CC and missing AOE, player has to pop their personal heal and invurability.

nerfing healing power to make healing stat had a greater range will kind of make their personal heal meaningless and people will just be blaming healer for not healing enough, so…

Beorn, that indeed that is what i seek, i do hope the “(((G3)))” is clear up abit, it kinda look beta-ish atm.

i know, but that defend the purpose of cross guild chat if we have to switch to read the chat… i could just change rep to do that now, but the point of cross chat should be to allow for coordination and communication in more than 1 guild.
