Pretty sure you can dodge them all. Refer to pretty much every lupi solo video.

To be fair, the aoe is very easily dodgeable when solo. It gets more difficult with 5 people but still doable, and most classes have more than just dodging to help evade.

You can melee everything in fractals, although it’s probably not a good idea for 99% of the player base.

Good example would be Dredge fractal’s final boss. Since you have to kite him around the map, you’re pretty much useless if you don’t have ranged weapon. But regardless, it’s true that you can melee pretty much everything, but you have to have a specialized group for that. You can just jump into a random pug and start to melee everything, because you don’t “believe” in range weapon. You will end up being down 90% of the time and end up being a dead weight for the whole party. On higher level fractals it’s never a good idea to melee straight up.

On the side note, fractals are not like dungeons. You have to be prepared for things, bring 2, 3 maybe even 4 weapon sets so you can adjust to different situations since you never know what’s coming next. It’s not a Zerker melee playground like most dungeons.

Like I said, bad idea for 99% of the player base. You don’t have to kite the Underground bosses around the map. You can just drop lava on them and melee, but easier said than done.

D. Expect pugs to be absolutely terrible, unless they’re “experienced”, then expect them to be a little less terrible.

E. Don’t start an instance if you’re a rage quitter.

Arah is the most difficult dungeon, but nothing more than that. CoE is also a difficult dungeon for a group that goes in without tactics, but because so many pick up groups share common knowledge tactics CoE plays easily nowadays. Arah tactics were never shared that widely and there is massive gulf in capability between experienced Arah runners and new players. This has led to the path selling. Path buyers typically learn no tactics.

The best way to learn the dungeon fully is to go through it all with a guild group and learn from mistakes. After doing that once you’ll appreciate what the skipping and PUG tactics actually deliver and how many problems they negate.

Don’t know if I’ll ever appreciate pug tactics. P3 itself is so annoying.

Don’t listen to those elitists . Arah must be cleared , every single mob must die to be a true hero . Aso you will need 3 guardians , pure healers , don’t take those berserker warriors they will drop in one second . Ask them to ping their cleric healer set on join . And once you have your 3 cleric guardians you can look for cleric elementalist , both are great healers . That’s how it must done.
Oh I forgot you will need a ranger with a bear , it will be your main tank.

Because it’s different technology Bright. This is something Colin has expressed frustration with, especially in regards to the issue with capes. Things don’t work the same way, can’t be implemented as easily or in the same fashion. It’s not an uncommon issue with technology these days. Sometimes there are work arounds, sometimes there aren’t. Sometimes you have to ‘relearn’ how to do something in order for it to work in the new system. Of course, it could be as simple as they haven’t gotten around to it either (not that templates would work the same way necessarily here anyway). We don’t really know what the deal with for any specific issue because we don’t work there. We do need to cut them some slack though.

Anet doesn’t have the technology to implement capes?

Dont believe the hype on these forums about how hard it is.

There is no hype on this forum that dungeons are hard. Half the people on this forum have resorted to making our own challenges. The only people that think dungeons are hard are the people that reject dps builds.

If it weren’t for this forum, I’d probably still be running pvt that my first guild told me was the best (yes, they ALL ran pvt). A year later and most of them still think dungeons are hard and arah takes a minimum of 2 hours. There is a correlation.

I would like something like that. Arah p4 bosses truly are a snorefest, only Simin (and lupi of course) has a mechanic that keeps me awake. If they would up the difficulty and give a higher chance at the recipe, I’d be happy. I’m close to giving up on that path.

Pretty much all of Arah needs an overhaul. I like the layout and the trash runs, but the safe spots and skips need fixed along with the boring p4 bosses.

Mesmers (portal and feedback), Warriors and Guardians (overall good), Thieves (stealth), Elementalists (only for AC though).

Necromancers, Rangers, and Engineers in comparison bring little unique abilities to the table. Even elementalists bring little outside of AC.

Ele’s are pretty good everywhere.

If I had to choose one class for dungeoning, I’d choose guardian if I’d be pugging and warrior if I’d be doing organized runs.

play how you want

Its funny and ironic, you using this as some kind of insult or sarcastic joke for others.

The funny thing is that the joke really is on you if you don’t play like you want to. Funy and sad.

Just because you’re allowed to play how you want doesn’t mean I have to play how you want by letting you be in my party.

you need more straw on your strawman’s head.

Who told you it is YOUR party? is his party for all i care too. I’ve seen entitled kids but man you just broke a record.

The instance owner is the one who’s party it is. Just to answer your question, though I’m sure you intended it to be rhetorical. That’s the funny thing about when people with an overestimated sense of their own cleverness ask a rhetorical question: it’s likely to get answered and make them feel bad and/or get defensive.

So whoever steps in first owns the party? That’s a whole new level of entitlement.

No, it’s not. If you start a party and ask for 80’s only, that’s your right. If a non-80 joins your party, you have every right to kick them. It’s not because he just joined the party, all of a sudden he/she gets the right to debate the merits of your party description.

If you join a party, you live up to their requirements. If I see a party description that says “Arah p3 lf2M Cleric’s gear and ranged weapons only”, I will see that this is not a party for me and not join. I’m not going to jump in, start melee’ing everything in zerker gear, only to get kicked and I’m most certainly not going to come on the forums to whine about it, because it’s my own fault. If I don’t live up to the expectations a party I join puts up, I have to deal with the consequences.

This is not a hard concept.

^ logic

It boggles my mind how many people come to this forum and want everyone to play their way, and people who don’t agree with them get called elitist. You play how you want to play in your party, but stop expecting to join other parties and expecting to tell them how to play. And stop coming to the forum raging that everyone doesn’t play the way you want.

Decent pugs? You can do all 3 paths of HotW with crappy pugs. You can do CoF with crappy pugs, Even SE p1 and p3 with crappy pugs. Needing decent pugs doesnt make it EXTREMELY easy, it makes it moderate. Decent pugs make Arah easy. For a STARTER dungeon you shouldn’t need “decent” pugs.

…Semantics. You don’t need a decent pug. A decent pug will make it very easy. A crappy pug can still do it. Just because some other dungeons are easier doesn’t mean AC isn’t easy.

AC is still extremely easy. There were a couple of bugs that made it seem harder, but mostly they just changed it up and people were butt/hurt they had to relearn it.

It’s not the easiest dungeon. It is easy, but then again all of them are easy. In comparison to all the higher level dungeons this one is not the easiest one. I can run CoF, SE, even HotW faster and with less problems than AC itself. And AC being a “starter” dungeon would make much more sense being easiest.

I’ve actually been thinking about doing this (as my guild doesn’t really dungeon) but I’ve been put off by the thought of getting scammed. What’s to stop someone advertising a run, taking the gold and then just disappearing?

Also, I’ve not really spent any time in Arah, will I need to go and learn the end boss before joining one of these runs? (Not a problem, I’d just rather know the score before I go in!)

If you’re buying a run, you usually don’t need to do anything. You just enter the instance, stand there and get your completion.

You won’t get scammed if you use reputable people like DnT or various other people from this forum. But odds are no one will scam you anyway, I really don’t hear of that happening at all. Once you buy a run from someone and it goes well, let him know you’re interested in future runs. He’ll add you and most likely contact you when he does more.

Honest question here. Say I’m trying to get someone into this game for the first time (but who also is a fan of dungeons and the whole grouping aspect). Would it be fair to say that, at least right now, dungeons are in effect, endgame only content? I was just wondering if people have success in getting a character who’s below level 80 to find a party to do said dungeons).

I know when I was first playing, this was not an issue, as most people were not yet at level 80 in the first couple of months.

I appreciate any insight you all would have.

Thanks.

You can most definitely start your own group, state in the lfg that anyone can run and you’ll fill rather quickly. Just don’t join a random group that wants all 80’s.

Do you know why the system you’re talking about wouldn’t work here, OP? Because the games you played didn’t have timed dynamic events. Just imagine trying to get to a dragon event, knowing it would be over by the time you got there.

Moot. There be timers in yonder internet. Anticipation may be making you wait, but there be no excuse for not arriving on time.

Because EVERYONE uses game timers. I don’t. I almost never keep a timer open. But sometimes, someone in guild chat will say, hey, the maw is up in a few seconds. And if I’m free and I want to, I can just port over there.

There are times when I come out of a dungeon and someone says, you still have time to get here and get in on the Shatterer kill…and I do.

That couldn’t happen if I had to run there from an outpost.

Vayne.8563: Anyone who wants to do it, can find out where it’s being done and make it their business to be there.

So there. Disagree with your own self. :-D

You totally just failed to comprehend his post and give a proper retort. He literally just gave you a scenario that would not work under the OP’s proposal, you failed to address it.

This proposal would essentially ruin open world pve. Only large guilds would be doing big events, because everyone would have to plan in advance if they wanted to kill Jormag on a given day. Spontaneity would be gone. No more hearing an event is up in guild chat, then going to do it. Small guilds and soloers would be screwed, they’d just have to hope they get lucky that a large guild decided to do an event at a certain time so that all their members had time to travel there. Pretty crap idea really.

They didn’t just DC. The instance only closes if the owner leaves party or if they log in on another character.

Truth

Since when? (I’m not arguing, I don’t know.)

For as long as I remember. Maybe it was after the changes with fotm (4/5 months ago?)

The instance owner can log off and the 4 can still finish the dungeon. The instance owner can log out. Log back in. Go to lions arch, buy something form the TP, then come back in, while the 4 stay in.

The instance owner can NOT switch characters. The instance owner can NOT leave the party. Either of these two will cause the instance to be destroyed.

This is correct. The instance will even be destroyed for the instance owner if he leaves party and he’s the only person in the dungeon. I found that out a while back on an arah p2 solo. I started the instance with a couple friends in party, they had no intention of joining the dungeon. I left the party and was booted.

Our guild has about 40% under 21 so I would say that more adults play GW2 but more “mature teens” play GW2 VS games like WOW

lol, I beg to differ. I’ve been kicked out of more dungeons than I can count by little teenagers in GW2. Let me give you a comparison. I’ve played WoW since the beginning of it’s existence. I’ll just say 8 years. I was only kicked by a teenager twice in WoW, and he was extremely immature. Fast forward to Guild Wars 2, and I’ve been kicked over 30 times. 20-22ish of those were teens.

Let me get this straight. You’re getting kicked, constantly, and then poll the griefers for their age? You really should stop making up stories, you’re not good at it.

A common tactic for running trash with thief is, have everyone stack on you > use Smoke Screen > spam short bow #2 skill in Smoke Screen, the other members should be using blast finishers as well (you should get up to 14 secs stealth) > run! > when Smoke Screen is about to run out, pop Shadow Refuge > run again!

I’m sure there’s other good running skills for thief, but my thief is only level 30 and I’m still learning it.

The main thing is to let your team know you’re new to the dungeon beforehand. If no one says they’re new, it’s assumed everyone knows the run. If they know you’re new, they can tell you when you need to equip your running skills. You can also ping your smoke screen and shadow refuge just before you use them so the party knows what’s coming.

I was actually. Aegis is supposed to block one attack, not a part of one attack. 1 second isn’t exactly enough for you to go on a rampage and wreck everything on godmode, I was intending it to simply be able to do what it was supposed to do, which the mechanic isn’t doing at the moment.

Aegis is for ohk blocks. If used correctly along with everything else in the guardian repertoire, a good guardian can carry bad teams through dungeons. It allows me to literally res 4 fully dead party members during lupi phase 2 while in zerker gear. With a good team it allows full dps uptime for the entire team on various bosses. Aegis is one of the skills that makes guardian a desired dungeon class.

Give an example of a goal that can be worked towards before the first event has been triggered in a dungeon. The first dialogue/event trigger for any dungeon is consistent for all dungeons, and is an easier standard to not only ‘enforce’ but to play by. This is the standard we shall be using.

As for pre-stacking/pathing mobs in Arah, I came to the conclusion that it is not game changing, and thus is within acceptable limits.

Wraithlord, GL, Balthazar, Belka, Abom, Brie, Entities, Ooze, Jotun, Alphard, Grenth can be easily soloed, even tough some might take time. Of course most of them you wont have to solo, since they deal little to no damage in the frist place, where at other (for example GL) you might even be faster doing them solo, since noone will mess with their behaviour.
All in all it might be a scumbag thing to do, but ignoring downed allies/letting them die might be a better choice if you still struggle a bit with the encounter (Yes I used to do this @Gl, just waited until my pug died in p2, so i can safely do p3 without worrying about traps or 52 p2->3 transition aoes).

This pretty much works best for pugs. If there are new people I will explain as we go and res them usually. If it’s an “experienced” group, I just run, kill, open wp.

Can wraithlord really be solo’d? Never tried it but it seems like you’d need at least 2.

I honestly would not want to play with a zerker guardian. If I am going to have a zerker, I’d much prefer a zerker warrior. Zerker has much more synergy with warriors due to their naturally large health pools and massive damage and the ridiculous amount of regen they can get without giving up to much.

All of that said, there is nothing wrong with a zerker guardian. You can survive and not die as well as anyone else that knows how to dodge. I’d just prefer a support guardian unless I were running CoF or some easy mode dungeon.,

All dungeon are easy mode when the whole team is zerker.
