And btw, do not expect people to agree with you because you “already said so”. And kindly provide a link to a 2man 7 min AC1 run – I would love to see it.

I would love to see this as well.
Unfortunately the one who claimed this to be real has yet to respond with a link to prove this, so for now I assume he’s making stuff up.

Even if you dont’ believe it, Strife’s video is up there in the sticky. point is you can do it quite fast.

I checked his channel, and all I see are 5-man party runs for AC.

My only point is to show that other dungeon path can be speed run too with almost similar speed. That is off topic.

And back to Silver’s post. The topic is “COF farming need fixed”. That is why we are talking about speed run group as oppose of normal group. I think normal group can do a few of the other path quite fast too. Just that people are less experience on other path since cof is more popular/give better reward.

The thing with the snowflakes incident is the loop actually isn’t infinit. Since the snowflakes price and mithril will rise and everything will be at an equilibrium.

I actually thought for a while Anet was doing it on purpose to sell blacklion salvage kit. But I probably overthink myself, since price of BLSK is much more expensive.

The reality of what will happen if Anet do nothing is mithril will rise and snowflakes will rise to a point it won’t be profitable.

I might be wrong for what I said, I didn’t look at it in very detail.

The report says 32.8 million USD in Q1 2013. I dont’ even know how GW2 make that much. Either the report is wrong or GW2 is still making good money from boxsale or gemstore.

There is no breakdown on how much is boxsale and how much is cashshop so i suppose that is left for speculation.

Tbh I see more mixed groups on LFG.com than war/mes groups.

Yes. Until one looks at the CoF listings. There it is all CoF p1 warriors and 1 mesmer, or CoF p2, warriors and guardians.

They need to make the encounters rougher, with some anti mobility effects and a few mobs that apply confusion. And for CoF p2, they need to fix it so you can’t skip the entire dungeon.

Completely wrong. If you can’t find a non war/mes group you’re doing something wrong.

I can find one easily. In my guild.
But not on gw2lfg.com – that’s overwhelmingly warrior + mesmer zerker when you filter for CoF Explorable.

Fortunately I don’t PUG this kind of content often. Fortunately my current 80s are also a warrior and a guardian, and next up for me is a mesmer. BUT none of my characters are zerkers – which I consider a flawed build.

A look at this screenshot shows the place needs looking at, given how tailored the intent of the PUGs for it are.

That is just silly. Just because there is many warrior/mesmer group don’t mean there is not other group too. So I’m not sure what you are upset about.

It take me roughly the same time to find a warrior/mesmer group or a normal group.

Why are dungeon equipment soulbound on acq?

I suppose the main reason is it don’t really matter. And it make no difference.

What’s the different between saving the token or armor in the bank. It is the samething.

That’s the thing. You can’t save the armor in the bank because it’s soulbound on acquire, meaning it’s going to be on the person or just rotting on storage since it can’t be taken out by any other toon.

I think the reason is most people know better they just save the token until they actually want to trade for the armor to use. So it aint like all my god a big problem.

in Suggestions

Posted by: laokoko.7403

laokoko.7403

roles actually imply there’s a different between the person in the group. Tank have to be tank because they absorb more damage. dps is dps because they do more damage. etc.

Now you said yourself all the class can do everything. So where their role coming from. All you said is make the boss fight more interesting, that’s all you said.

And both of your example implies of boss fight which everyone should have speed buff and snare and stun. Roles imply everyone should be doing something different. Your example dont’ imply that.

That being said other game have cc with longer duration. The funny thing is this game actually dont’ make you cc boss. Since most boss in this game have a buff which make them immune to cc. Other game actually make more use of cc.

What make other game more interesting more than anything is the min/maxing. This game don’t have that. Or at least try not to have that. IMO many of the dungeon content is actually not bad. The problem is many of the content is trivilize by maxing dps(aka berserker gear).

I mean I was doing an AC path 1 group. And people start complaining about how difficult the burrow part is. And one person complain he did it like 20+ times and still can’t get pass it. But in reality a berserker elementist can duo it.

^ So in your opinion every dungeon should have the “exact same length” by the minutes?

I already told you AC1 can be done by 2 people in 7 minutes. HOTW1 is 8 minutes. Most of the dungeon path done by strifes video is under 10 minutes. There is indeed a few dungeon which take almost 20 minutes, but “most of them” is under 10 minutes. You can check the dungeon video in the dungeon forum.

The point is the difference isn’t big.

The dps between warriror and other class isn’t big too. It’s already shown in video theif can speedrun in comparable time. If you theorycraft an elementist could potentialy sub for a warrior to do comparable if not more dps because of conjure weapon. The truth is even if warrior can do it faster. The difference wont’ be more than 20 second for cof path 1. That’s the reality right?

Now if you nerf warrior and buff other class. The reality is other class will actually do more damage. Because there probably isnt’ much difference in dps in the first place.

People always think warrior do like major damage because they hit for like 40k. The reality is they don’t they hit for like 4k-5k 8 times.

personally i don’t mind those people farming cof p1. They can grind their brains off to get 1k gold per week for all I care. What really bothers me is the imbalance of reward vs time of other dungeon paths coughfotmcough.

People can also do AC1 (duo) in 7 minutes. Hotw1 in 8 minutes. Most of Strife’s dungeon video is under 10 minutes.

I suppose cof always have the advantage because the token can be trade for 70 rare for ecto. And berserker is one of the most popular armor.

But the difference is actually “not that big”. They can try extend cof a bit, forcing us to kill the bridge mob, or make the rolling rock go on before mesmer can blink. But the reality is difference isn’t that big.

I dont’ think the dps difference is even that big.

I mean there’s a video of theif group doing faster or equally fast as warrior.

There’s only 2 place you are dps check and even if your dps is 2 times slower you should be only slowed by 20 second at most.

The reality I think is most people have alt, that is especially true for people who do mindless farm all day. So people have warrior or mesmer to group up with. That is probably more of a saying as proof I’m a dedicated farmer.

Also, this idea isn’t excluding anyone. Almost every profession has some version of swiftness, CC, vigor, snare. So it isn’t about excluding professions that don’t, it’s about having professions use skills they don’t normally to create a strategy.

yes they have it. But some profession do certain things “better”. That is where the problem rise.

The problem I find dungeon is certain class or certain build have easier time compare to other in certain situation. For example most dungeon encounter is so much easier if you just have everyone in full berserker and maximize dps.

It’s like almost every class have projectile reflect, but guardian obviously do it better right?

Now nothing wrong with your idea. My question is should the “difficulty” of the content be designed by the “idea group makeup and build” or “the weakest group makeup and build”.

The reality is very few people spend “all their online time” doing cof path 1 spam or orr farming (pent/shelter, fish oil, lyssa, which ever Anet havn’t nerf yet). If everyone is making 5 gold every hour, what do you think the economy will be like?

I mean, I make like 50-80 gold a day when I farm. Am I suppose to make those type of money when I dont’ farm. If that is the case I should have like 10,000 gold in my bank.

I don’t even think anything you said make sense.

Take for example orr farming. There are really like 50 people farming orr. So what good does splitting those people up do? Give 2 more people per zone?

You know why Anet can’t fill every zone of every server with people? Because there is no solution. There simply not enough player to do that.

And no, Anet have no intention to make every player rich by equalizing rewards. Only reason they don’t mind people bunching up for farming is because really not that many people even farm.

Anet has the figures. There is 0 evidence. Why? Blizzard tells people how many subscribers they have. Anet thinks its better not to give this kind of information out for GW2. Why do you think that is?

The big difference is other game have to disclose their sub number(income) to their shareholder. Anet don’t “have to” do it because their income isn’t closely tied to their active players.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Basically it is impossible to fill every zone of every server, there simply isn’t that many players.

And Anet can only reward people for doing tedious boring grind (which farming is). Else everyone would be millionaire and there isn’t even much use for gold in this game.

And the reality is anet dont’ mind 1% of the players get rich from flipping, or 10% of the player get rich from farming. As long as they have the other 90% poor so they might use the gem store.

The reality is if you look at your friend or guild list, most of the people isn’t even farming. And no removing clumps won’t make the world more lively because if you look at your friend/guild list most people arn’t even clumping.

Regardless it is impossible to fill every zone of every server.

I dont’ think you really need to ask because simply speaking you make like 1 gold a run. The rest depend how long you play and how efficient your group is and how many “down time” you get. I would say if you can average 7 run in an hour that’s pretty good.

If you just rely on gwlfg, there could be many down time. Having a friend list of cof farmers do help.

If you learn to flip, you can probably make some extra here and there.

After you know how much you make a run, it depend on how fast you can do your run and how many down time there is.

On the losing population thing, if it has why did I spend 2 hours in overflow last night when I went to Southsun Cove? Never got into Southsun Cove on my server…just overflow…

Also, in the peak overtime, in the evening or at weekends why do I always after queue for WvW maps?

If the game is losing population then it needs to lose a lot more so I am not always put into overflow or queueing ALL the time…

There is no way to prove anything. It’s like people say wvw is always full. Even if every server have 1000 people doing wvw, with 40 server that is 40,000 people. That is very far away from 3 million.

Only thing you can say is you don’t have a problem finding people to play with. The reality is no one knows how many people still logon monthly unless you work for Anet.

It could be anything from 500k to 2.5 million. It is practically impossible to make a good estimation on the retention.

That is exactly why right? because everyone gather in the zone to do the new event.

If you spread out the event in every zone, it become harder to find people. Same idea as people guesting to the populated server. If you try the less popular server and go to the lesser visited zone, I assure you it is harder to find people.

Yes they’re in every free game. But the difference is those other games likely have new content added to them in addition to the RNG boxes. All we get from month to month in terms of new weapon or armor skins is from the RNG cash boxes. That’s a problem.

I thought they announced plans for an expansion pack? That’s really where I’d expect new armor/weapons.

They also said there’s no expansion this year. That being said there is a mace/shield/bow/arrow skin being sold directly without RNG. Anet is doing both. And I think that is clever so they can make money from both crowd.

anet have no other way to generate income beside box sales and cashshop, and most people who wanted the game already bought it.

Last time I’m going to bring this up, then I’ll leave you guys to acknowledge or ignore it to your heart’s content.

In Guild Wars, players lined up to purchase items from the cash shop. Because the items weren’t hidden behind RNGs chest, the players got exactly the items they wanted. And ArenaNet got the money they needed. It was a win/win. It was both customer friendly and profitable at once. This method may be profitable, but only a fool would argue it’s customer friendly.

Maybe just Maybe, Anet think their make “more money” from the RNG chest.

The reality is Anet dont’ want to sell the item for 10$, they want to sell it for 100$. And maybe make a few buck from those people who tried and fail too.

I’m not saying what I said is correct, but you can’t honestly tell me your method make more money, because you are not a market researcher.

But I’m sure Anet have made enough testing and A/B split test to see which method is the better method.

And the reality is Anet is doing both. They actually do sell item skin directly in cashshop from time to time too. They just want to milk those with impulsive behavoir and spend hundred of real US dollar for a piece of skin too.

Missing the point. It’s not that they’re adding things to the cash shop. Myself included, TONS of people love to support games they enjoy playing and have no problem investing real cash into game items. The problem is that it’s all behind the gimmick of the lottery. Which is bullkitten.

The more you spread out the population, the less people you’ll see.

Anet dont’ want to reward people for every activety they do. Primely because they want to push the gem store. People either need to do those tedious cof path 1 farm, world chest, or orr farming. Or pay cash to enjoy the game how it is intended.

Though you gotta give Anet props for wising up and making separate chests for item rewards. Can’t farm personal story for those, I guess so hey they’re thinking!

Legitimate question for anyone at ArenaNet: why do you guys invest so much time and effort into making weapon assets that 99% of the players will never use?
