what’s the point on coming to forum and just taunting people. If you can speed run dungeon good for you.
If you dont’ want to share, keep it to yourself.
I dont’ even know what people are talking about bills/holiday/tax return. I just think it as Anet stop making money from box sales and most people that want to buy GW2 already bought GW2.
I always guest to jade query if I want to play with people.
If you still find jade query empty nothing I can do.
WoW came out what 9 years ago? They are still raking in huge profits I would like to see any other game do this
According to this report Lineage 1 does that easily and is almost twice as old as WoW (15 years) in 2 1/2 D perspective and is increasing rapidly in profits quarterly making more profits per quarter then major game and MMO Launches.
Lineage is like the asian version of wow. The game that start it all for asians.
They knew with a B2P plus cash shop that the box sales would drop off after launch and holliday season and transition into primarily cash shop. Coincidentally that’s about the time when all the various sales and Gem store bait started coming out every 2 weeks.
About 3 hours until the next mad rush for Gems.
No company can sustain rapid growth indefinitely, there are going to be ups and downs, and for the most part they can be anticipated. The fourth quarter 2012 includes the period immediately after GW2’s release, when they sold about 1.5 to 2 million boxes, in addition to the pre-sales from Q3.
Five or six months after release, of course the game isn’t going to sell as quickly… also people have less money to spend in January because of bills from Christmas spending, it’s winter in the northern hemisphere so their priorities are changing, and people, in the US at least, are waiting for April/May when they get their tax return money to make major or entertainment-based purchases. So spending overall goes down in Q1.
It’s pretty much going as expected, GW2 sold well over expectations and the cash shop is doing well. Please resume your normal “the game is dying” complaints.
How you draw that conclusion. All he said is Anet stops making money from box sales and turn to cash shop for their profit.
All Ascended weapons will probably take stacks of Ecto to craft. Invest while prices are low!
I have the same mentality with the scavenge hunt for precusor.
Better buy all the t6 material and lodestone since scavenge hunt coming soon…
Actually bad idea lol. Probably bake a while till they release new ascended item.
I don’t think there’s a definate answer. But if I’m going for a legendary, I’d get my ecto now. Hard to perdict the future.
I don’t think many people understand his question.
The question is if “every type of weapon” have the same precursor chance. Since for some weapon type there are more exotic version of it.
I don’t think anyone have a sure answer of that.
If the rate is same as cof. It should be around 0.5%. I did about 2000 cof path 1 run. And have found 10 of the jewel craft recipe. So I think you’ll find one every 200 run maybe?
I found the koda’s gift too, I actually have 2 of it. It was decent money making. Even so, there’s many undercutting going on, so it is not very consistent.
Well, if you do CM everyday for the next half a year you have a decent chance of getting the plague recipe.

This is why we cannot have complex raids in GW2. So many people act like the lack of a trinity is a huge improvement in game play, but that trinity exists for a reason. GW2 is fun, but many of the “innovations” are self limiting in nature resulting in shallow (and I’m being kind) PvE content that is more about numbers (or, in the case of dungeons, glitching the content) than about tactics. It’s a casuals game after all.
I wouldn’t use the word “tactics” to describe 50 people standing in a circle around a boss and rhythmically pushing buttons.
That’s what GW2 raid(world boss) look like right?
People always make fun about raid in other game, but GW2 take it further.
GW2 raid is even less tactical. And you can run in hit jomag 5 times in the head and come out with a world chest.
I was thinking more about the bosses that actually do stuff.
Running around, evading attacks, reviving teammates, compared to watching people’s healthbars or your DPS meter while the tanks are juggling aggro.
As boring as you make raiding sound like in other game. I can press the auto attack button and go afk in GW2 in most world chest event.
Not only that, I can slack as much as possible and hit the boss 5 times in the head and walk away with a world chest.
So if everything people make fun about raiding in other game is true. GW2 take it one step further.
And I think Ratty’s response summed up what I felt about instanced and non instanced raid. If jomag was an instanced fight with 10 people with no WP rush that might be an interesting fight. I understand you can scale the raid fight by the amount of people participation. But I don’t think it is easy to do. And if you visit the dynamic event forum, Anet obviously didn’t do a very good job and many people is complaining.

I complain more about the general lack of activity in the middle, leveling zones.
Most people leveling just skip the mid level zone. Even if you try to play normally, you’ll out level the zone, and mid level zone is the one people usually skip.
Spent a crowded day in Lonar’s Pass recently.
Yep, level 35-45 zone. Find cave, hide, get people showing all up in my business.
I go to Harathi Highlands. Same thing. In fact there I get crowds of them like flash mobs running through and calling out events.
That zone just south of Lion’s Arch. There’s one event there with two drunk passed out norn, half the times I’ve been near it its been mobbed by players.
What level, specially, is ‘mid’ limited to?
Because I’ve yet to find the empty spot.
I’m just in Kissex hill. Leveling through dynamic event chain. And there are around 25 people doing it. Harathi Highland have a dynamic event chain good for leveling too. So that’s probably why people are there.
My point is people are only there because of the reward. The few dynamic event good for leveling will have people. And you really have to guest to the more popular server for that to happen.
I didn’t say every single dungeon path is fast. I’m saying there are many dungeon path which can be done fast.
And for HOTW, I’m only talking about path 1. AC path 1 can be duo(2 people) in 7 minutes.
If you check strife’s dungeon video. Many of them are under 10 minutes.
My point is many people claim all other dungeon path are “siginificantly longer” and give “much less” reward for the time taken. Which isn’t correct. There are many other short dungeon path and people still don’t do them.
I do believe people like open world content.
I’m just saying there isn’t much “repeatable open world end game content” in this game.
Really most people just do those daily chest event and that’s it.
People shouldn’t complain that people are running CoF. People should complain that all the other dungeons are a waste of time. This is all a matter of time versus reward. If dungeons were more rewarding, people would actually want to play them. But since most mobs in dungeons are a waste of time… why waste time on them?
Look at my post again. Go to the link I gave you. Go to other dungeon path’s speed run video.
Cof isn’t “that much” faster than the other dungeon path. Which is what you and many people proclaimed.
Even if other dungeon gives “exactly same” reward as cof. People will still cram at the same dungeon. At best people will do other dungeon to bypass the diminishing return. Why bother to do the other dungeon path when you can get the exact same reward doing the samething.
AC 1,2 and 3,SE 1 and 3 are all easy to do in about 15 min with a good group.SE 2 takes like 30-45 min depending on group,HotW 1 is about 20 min(because of the final boss),2 and 3 are around 30 min.
I can tell you if you try the pug for AC, it sometimes don’t go too well. It is much safer to go SE or HOTW.
I dont’ think anyone know the answer to that. You need pretty large sample size to test that.
I’ll try to save myself.
Actually, the problem isn’t that Cof is so fast. It’s that it’s so much faster than the next feasible alternative. If you had several dungeons in a 1 minute radius of each other people would switch off more.
Unless you LOVE running CoF 1 over over again because it’s fun, nerfing it will make the game better, not for the small percentage of CoF farmers, but for everyone else in the game.
I’ll ninja bump this old post a bit.
The reality is the other dungeon path is actually only slightly slower.
http://gwscr.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6
If you check Strife’s video, I think most of the video is less than 10 minutes. And he can probably do it even faster if he tried.
I suppose cof will always have an advantage because you can trade the token for lvl70 rare. But unlike what most people claimed, the other dungeon path isn’t that much slower compare to cof.
Like I told you guys already. If cof is nerfed, people just move to the next fastest path. I mean HOTW can be done in 8 minutes. Or if people willing to gamble token for precursor the other low level dungeon can be done pretty fast too.

ya I think crafting and dungeon or switching char at the end of dungeon(even though I hate when people do it)
I complain more about the general lack of activity in the middle, leveling zones. I suppose increasing event rewards world wide would help, but I expect it would just cause people to do repeatable events over and over instead of spreading out.
The reality is people dont’ even do them any more. They just use craft to level up or switching to alt at end of dungeon to level up faster.
Most people leveling just skip the mid level zone. Even if you try to play normally, you’ll out level the zone, and mid level zone is the one people usually skip.

Sigh. I would prefer to bring light into the darkness than huddle in my home over a feeble candle.
I expect the next new, unique poster to be inundated with clever prose as well. Shame clever prose doesn’t fix anything.
well here’s one. I think Anet proclaimed to have 1500 dynamic events (I’m not sure how they count it because I dont’ believe there’s that many). Every events take like 6 minutes to finish. First of all, people dont’ even want to do them because they give no rewards. Second of all, after most people tried it once they dont’ want to do it again. What’s the chance anyone is doing the exact same quest as you.
Do you know how many times I post in map chat about an event and no one shows up? Plenty
With that attitude, you better be beside me when I’m asking for help in map chat.
I’m sure people will show up if it is an event “with world chest”.
Other than that, other event have like a respawn rates of 20 minutes. Which have like no purpose. So what if you complete an event, it respawn in 20 minutes and give nothing in rewards.
It’s what I generally do. I consider myself a roamer. I don’t farm, seldom do the world event shuffle, and join dungeons even if I don’t need to go there to help out.
ya I aint going to do an event which serves no purpose because it don’t give rewards and it just respawn every 20 minutes. If you felt like redoing the same event every 20 minutes when it is up till the end of time feel free.
I can tell you that you’ll find people doing the world meta event because they give chest. And queensdale is usually full of people right after daily reset. You just have to know where to look.

The reality is the GW2 open world is so big and have so many zones. And if they release more zones in the future, it’ll get even harder to fill all the zones.
And reality is I don’t find any reason to go back to a zone unless for world chest or doing guild event or map completion.
There’s nothing to do, so players log in less and less frequently until they quit.
I’ve been online for max 2 hours last 2 weeks.
Yesterday I logged in, had absolutely nothing to do, so I just stood in LA for 1 hour.
I’m kind in the same situation. I tried logging in to do something, but just can’t find much I “want” to do. Right now I’m aiming for my dungeon master and try to do more fotm so I can see what it is like at high level.
On the other hand, I’ll probably play this mmorpg for a very long time. Because it is so casual, I don’t felt I have to “keep up” and play everyday.
I’m not sure why people are so anxious to prove a game is dying with no evidence to back it up.
Ya but Anet won’t release it’s current player population. You can’t prove GW2 didn’t loss a significant amount of players too.
I’m not the one making the claim that the game has increased in population. Others are claiming it’s dying. In theory, they should have some proof before making that kind of claim. I’m simply saying those people have no proof.
Had I come on first and said the population is increasing, you’d have a point. All we know for sure is that Anet IS hiring (that’s a fact) and that server caps have been expanded (that’s a fact too).
Beyond those two facts, we know nothing. So in your opinion, does those two facts suggestion a dying population or a growing one?
The truth is even if population is increased a few month ago don’t mean it is now.
The only time Blizzard release their diablo 3 population is right after their pvp patch. That’s the truth.
And what good is the server cap increase? A few full server don’t mean the rest of the server is in good population.
The truth is there is no concrete number to back it up. Too much sentimental talk and no real fact.
I’m not sure why people are so anxious to prove a game is dying with no evidence to back it up.
Ya but Anet won’t release it’s current player population. You can’t prove GW2 didn’t loss a significant amount of players too.
I’m trying to get my dungeon master and maybe try to get into high level fotm.
That being said, pretty much every mmorpg in recent history suffer from huge population decline after it’s initial release.
I actually think GW2 is one of the few that have a stable population. Being B2P probably is the one crucial reason why GW2 is still holding on it’s player.
^ I think that probabaly better explained as personality. Some people complain way more than other.
You know there’s probably like 500 guildmates and only a few have gotten precursor. That don’t exactly mean precursor fall from the sky.
ya that’s why I say it depend on what class you play. A guardian auto attack with 1 staff get far more drop than other class.
How crowded the area is matters too since if there’s too many people it is hard to tag target. If there is too few people monster die too slow.
And quite honestly, all the people who say they can’t even get an gold an hour or can’t even get 20 items to drop in an hour are just farming at the wrong place. You have to follow the popular events where all the people are grinding the mob.
For starters, people exaggerate too much and are bad at estimation.
Other things which can effect farming efficiency is where you farm, how crowded the area is, and what class you pick.
There are raid-like events in GW2, you just need to look harder to find them.
Orr temples are like that, but there are other event chains that you can do with a large group.
The problem is those people that enjoy the raid in other game won’t necessary enjoy the raid in GW2 because they are pretty much completely different.
I think it goes in this order, slow to long. SE p1, HotW p1, SE p3, AC…
if you are going by pug with average experience and average ability this is it.
AC pug is usually pretty bad. Unless you are one of those guy who claim they can duo ac in less than 10 minutes.
what’s there to do in the open world. puzzled my mind.
You know how most players always say they enjoy open world content. Yet they rarely do them. Must be pretty hard making world content people actually want to do.
Except for the world meta event which drop chest. I dont’ think people do anything else.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I think it is just a way to regulate item price. If promotion isn’t worth while there’s nothing that need to adjust.
^ ya but this is the thing. In those 20 man or 40 man raid you have a cap in number of players. So it become a problem when a guild can’t get enough people or a problem when everyone wants to go.
Take for example my guild, we could have 100 people online during peak NA time and 80 people online during peak AUS time. That means not everyone can join the raid.
There are obviously more things you can play around when there’s more people involve. For example encounter where everyone have to be in perfect spacing. Rotating skills to keep stability up or rotating guardian full heal etc etc.
You don’t necessary need to make those gigantic 20 or 40 man raid, even 10 man is fine.
That being said, even the dungeon in this game isn’t very interesting. I havn’t done arah 124, and CM3. Out of all the other dungeon there’s only a few boss fight which I find interesting. The Lupi, SE path 2, and fire elemental in fotm. I think every boss fight should be like those 3 boss.
That being said, I’m not sure how the developer can desgin interesting dungeon content when the 5 man entering dungeon could range from 5 tank to 5 berserker dps.
I just creat new character and use it as mule.
The most annoying things are the soul bound item. You can’t even put it on mule. It get really annoying when you have many alts and enjoy trying new build.
is cm path 3 hard? just did path 1 and 2 today, don’t seem too bad
very high population is probably just an arbitrary number so Anet can get more money from server transfer.
Or a PR way of saying GW2 is very successful.
I don’t think it mean anything.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I suppose not all people have the time nor dedication to do hard or long content.
Problem rise when people expected to be rewarded for hard content. Other casuals dont’ like the idea other people can get reward which they can’t get.
I suppose the fight isn’t hard if you know the strategy. I only done the dungeon once. Killed the flying boss easily, and the second boss I was dead half of the fight. But my guildmate finish it easily. Something about stacking under the boss and autoattack.
i found 2 kodas gift and 10 ashes of effigy recipe.
That being said I did maybe 2000 cof path 1 run in my life. So expect the drop rate to be low, maybe once every 200 run.
And if you moved around a bit, yours probably wouldn’t either. It’s only when you do the same thing over and over that the drops increase. Maybe you think most people prefer to play the game this way, but you represent a very small subset of the population.
You can move as much as possible. The reality is if I just farm on the few specific spot I’m still making way more gold than you.
The problem is only a few activity in the game actually make money. That’s why I never felt Anet bother to nerf farming. Because it is so kitten boring very few people will do it.
So your honestly saying you make the same gold when u played for 12 hrs each hr?
You always have cof. Just saying it.
And the gold stay the same from hour 1 to hour 12.
I don’t know what’s so funny about making 10 gold a day. Even with DR, you can probably make 5+ gold in the first hour. My guildmates sometimes claim they can make 8 gold in an hour from fish oil event. That being said, I havn’t played much after this patch, so I dont’ know if orr is being nerfed more.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Flip? The tool is bound.
The backpack isn’t right?
Maybe, just maybe it is the desginers job to make a dungeon which is not cheatable.
And it is the players job to use “strategy(you call it cheat)” to beat the content.
However most of the discussion has been “remove DR” and “increase all drops”. Which I disagree with.
What’s funny is I dont’ even know there’s DR. Or I don’t find it very noticable.
I dont’ farm that much in orr, I mainly farm cof. I think one of my friend says he get 250+ gold in a week when he farmed orr. If there’s DR, how he farmed that much I’ll never know.
Before I discovered about cof and orr, I was farming grawl or troll in frostgauge sound. I farmed like 10 hours for a couple of week there and I never notice much diminishing return.
Quite honestly I never felt Anet is trying to stop people from farming, nor do they care.
