And the expectation that a pug can 1 bucket burn dredge boss? Seriously how often does that happen? Maybe 1 in 10 runs? that is too high expectation on a pug.

I’m doing it 9 times out of 10 runs (when we roll the dredge facility obviously) in pugs (meaning i’m alone, with no buddies/guildies/friends in the party). Asking for meta party and gear checking. Works well. I even teach that to whoever want to learn it.

It all comes down to personnal experience, so we could go on this topic for hours, that won’t be usefull

Average pug do it in 40-50 mintues anyway.

Average is 40 minutes, with the worst case being 55/1 hour. Strangely, i got my worst run times with guildies, but mostly because we’re running around like headless chickens doing kitten. And yes, if they’re listening and up to learn something new (for them), i’ll teach them. If it doesn’t work first try, the second always works. It’s not pointless, since it helps improving the global skill level (and it’s good for everyone).

Fractal pretty much become the new cof path 1. Anyone still doing it is usually quite experience.

Many people(guidie) play together for the social experience. They are not actually your experienced fractal player.

Elitism is actually quite annoying. I don’t mind elitist player which is good blaming people. Like someone says “oh why don’t you put your ice bow near me”.

But the elitist player who blame other people for their own death is really annoying. “Oh I die because you didn’t aegis or condition removal for me”. That is one of the most annoying thing I ever heard. You can pretty much do fractal solo or duo. How is your own death have anything to do with other people.

While I agree with you to an extent, examples can include guardian not using aegis when channeling icebow 5 as the imbued shaman unbubbles. No reflects from guard on end of harpy boss, no blinds from engi/thief ect. It’s not necessary but when you invite someone of a certain class into the party you expect them to know their class mechanics, and rely on them to a certain extent, otherwise why have them in the party to begin with, just duo and then sell more slots for gold

Obviously people have problem if they dont’ do what they suppose to do. That I agree.

I’m just saying people can talk **** about meta, they can trait for meta. And they may think they are some freaking elitist who is really just a terrible skilled player, who die to every single attack.

And I understand every class is different. But the combat system in GW2 is designed to be self sufficient, so all class have the capability to do different things, just to a different extend.

Take for example, why are warrior’s even asking guardian for condition removal. If I knew a fight require condition removal, I’ll bring condition removal. It doesn’t matter what class I play. For warrior, I just slap a warhorn, and trait for it.

Who in the right mind fight mai trin without condition removal. Unless that person is actually good and block everything. And if you are a warrior asking a guardian for condition removal “in a pug”. I’ll actually question your common sense.

I have 9 permanent bank license.

I suppose it could work the same. But not many people is crazy enough to pay 700 gold for each character they own.

If it is cheaper people can just buy one for each of their characters.

many people range(boss fight) in fractal. So that’s not a big deal. And a bunch of people who probably should be ranging, judging by how they always die when they try meleeing.

For normal dungeon, it is a complete different story though. You usually don’t like see people ranging in normal dungeon.

I can honestly say, I dont’ really like bow rangers in normal dungeons, but for fractals I dont’ mind so much. I range very often myself regardless of the class I play.

I would still disagree, and I still don’t see anything that provides the evidence for your interpretation, even if I can see how it would be taken. I still don’t think there are any discrepancies between the blog post and the interview (which, as you stated, is also newer, and I’d say is also closer to an absolute fact than something that can be interpreted differently) either.

I won’t try to argue it further though, as I don’t think we’ll ever end up changing the other’s mind.

It’s in the blog. And when that blog release, everyone kind of agree the precursor will be tradable. That is the consensus during that time on the forum.

Some of the information people provide are outdated information or information on new legendary or precursor for the new legendary(which according to the developer won’t be tradable).

keep the infusion on the ascended armor.

If you really care about min maxing, you want different rune for different situation. Use a separate rune for your legendary armor. I would either use a wvw rune for legendary armor, or a defense rune on legendary armor for raiding.

And keep the ascended armor berserker and just apply the legendary skin on it.

no one consider legendary weapon a new tier. So I’m not sure why you think legendary armor is a new tier.

You might as well keep the infusion in the ascended armor and just use transmuation charge on it. You can’t change rune in legendary armor anyway.

I hate spirit shards

I farmed a bunch of spirit shards before the patch.

The reality is many people are rich in gold. Either because they flip TP, sell dungeon runs, toss maize balm around. But those activities don’t generate spirit shards.

I become rich because I did some good TP investments. I think many people are similar to me. That’s why they are short on spirit shards. My guess if you are really rich in gold, you might as place a buy order on legendary.

Only activity I make more spirit shards than I do gold is trading post flipping.

Even dungeons, fractals, world events, you’ll be making more spirit shards as you do gold. Every events give champ bag, and the rates is about once per seven bag.

If you are really rich in gold, you might as well buy legendary instead of using your spirit shards.

I’m pretty sure if you just create a group saying “LFM anyone welcome”. The group will be filled in a few minutes.

Weather the dungeon run is smooth or not is another story. I have runs when people spend 10 minutes to find the entrance of the dungeon.

Maybe custom guild hall for guilds with different size?

For example if you choose a guild hall for (size 5), the material require is lesser? But your guild are now limited to a size of 5. That can help stop complain from small guilds.

That being said, I don’t think the requirement are that much anyway. Small guilds are complaining about guild mission before. And there are 1 person guild doing bounty or rush by himself. The cost isn’t even that much.

A 5 man guild can farm for 4 hours and have enough money to pay for market resolution 1.

Obviously larger guild have the advantage. I think it is more of people in small guild felt like they are paying extras when they could be in large guild and dont’ pay as much.

you are not complaining because upgrade extractor is too expensive. You are complaining because you are too cheap to pay a few gold to buy a new sigil or rune.

If you can’t even afford to do that. I doubt Anet will ever be able to make money of you.

Its not a case of me being to cheap that’s not the point, I have plenty of gold and I can buy gems if I so choose, the point I was trying to make was Anet has outpriced their product, far beyond what it should be (in my opinion) and there for restricting their sales, they would sell alote more at a reduced cost and potentially make more money.

so how cheap do you think the price of extractor should be. And the price of gem fluctuate too. you need to take that to consideration.

I think you have a point. It might be more convenient to the players. I never get why people dont’ just buy gems and convert them to gold. And for your situation just buy the sigils or rune instead of buying an extractor. But since you are asking. You probably never thought it is the same thing.

The question then becomes, what is the true purpose of extractors? I have the feeling that it’s to keep demand of upgrades up which helps keep the price up. That encourages salvaging, which destroys excess items and possibly crafting which destroys excess raw materials.

  • Think of the extractors as “agony infusion extractors” rather than rune or sigil extractors.
  • The mystic forge mechanic is setup to create a new item, not to upgrade the old ones. That’s why it can’t preserve existing runes or sigils.

I think the OP offers a fair point: if there were a rune/sigil extractor that cost closer to 100 gems for 6, then a lot of people would buy them instead of feeling that they “wasted” a high value rune/sigil by using it in karma or ascended gear that couldn’t later be salvaged.

No doubt that is true, however it would also decrease demand for those pricier upgrades and it might be that ANet is ok with ‘meta’ gear being significantly higher-priced than off-meta choices.

he could do the same thing by buying gems and converting them to gold and just buy a new set of sigil or rune from the TP.

He’s not helping Anet making any money.

It’s breaking a core precept of GW2 legendaries:

Prestige and QOL advantages vs. gameplay advantages.

No, it would be a QOL advantage. As opposed to me carrying around five sets of armor like I currently do, I just have to carry around one, and four extra sets of runes. Saves a full 20 slot bag. That’s quality of life improvement.

Well, if you dont’ have to craft 4 other sets. You save money on 4 other sets too. So it is no longer just a QOL advantage.

Many people act like they are complaining about QOL when they just dont’ want to spend money on additional ascended set. Since they think they deserve to save money since legendary is so expensive already.

I dont’ think Anet want people to be kittened that they wiped over and over again.

If Anet want to make dungeon hard they already can do so. Just have horrak shoot cannon the entire fight while people have to try luring mai trin to lightning. Or have molten duo both start at phase two.

I do pug and occasionally people keep wiping at molten duo. Or almost everyone is downed in Mai trin. The average player is not all elite pros. I suppose I’m part of the problem as I’m one of the person dead too sometimes.

That’s why a “hard mode” for each dungeon/raid is a good idea. Players who don’t give a kitten about a challenge can just take the story mode and have it easy, while others who want a challenge can get a more difficult mode (like some of the living story achievement fights) and get bonus rewards for it. They advertise HoT raiding as “challenging content” as a whole, but from their current content there’s nothing that comes even close to challenging so everyone is understandably sceptical. Challenging content = something you need an organized group with voicecom to complete, not something you can manage with pugs even after a few wipes.

everyone will be demanding to get better rewards. Eventhough besides the first week of learning phase, they’ll face roll the content anyway with their premade group.

i would absolutely hope for fractal 100 is something like almost impossible to do though. It’s up to Anet if they actually want to make hard content that very few people can do.

I didn’t watch the whole video.

But you can prep the same time you attack the boss. For example you can have warrior put down banner while other people is dpsing.

And I think one big point is many people really can’t play. So the less time they are in boss fight the less time they have less chance to die.

If not just use exotic gear. Which everyone should be able to afford. If you can’t even afford exotic gear, you probably don’t deserve to raid, consider you probably need some mastery level to raid anyway.

exotic gear is already really cheap. I think that is all you need for raiding.

Besides berserker gear which is 6 gold. the other set is like 1 gold. You can get a full set in 1 hours of farming.

try to learn crafting on a new character. You gain level at the same time. I gained 11 level from huntsman getting it from 1-435. Which took 13 minutes.

With a lvl booster and new year firework you get +60% exp.

The first thing is you can actually buy dungeons. So most likely you can buy raids too just like you buy arah or fractal.

The second thing is Anet might add alternative way of getting legendary armor. Or they haven’t finalize weather legendary armor will be raid exclusive.

And the final rewards might even be salable. I remember Anet talking about some fractal encryption box that will be salable after completing high level fractal.

That sounds like a really fun way to spend an evening, but I think I’d really prefer to actually be playing the game instead, just in a different area.

I think it depend if the reward is only from final boss or if there are mini boss on the way that drop them.

If the rewards is focused on the last boss you can just join a group pay them some gold and be out in a few minutes.

Did the reward structure need a revamp? Certainly. It’s not surprising it was changed. But now, being rewarded for completing 3×15 minute maps is going to be the same kitten 40+minute runs is just breaking my heart.

It will be 1 5 minute map, and you’ll get rewards. Which is pretty dumb.

The turns what is supposed to be their end game dungeon experience into a carnival fairground ride where everyone gets a ride. Hardly what one thinks of when we’re talking end-game.

You might be forced to do speicific levels like level 64 since it’s the daily for that day.

You didn’t read did you

So instead of 50,40,30,20,10 for each reward tier, we have the above.

See how the daily reward chest actually changed …..

you don’t even know what the daily achievement(s) is. How can you make judgement.

All they said is it is separate into 3 difficulty level. They never even say how or what or how many you have to do to complete the daily achievements.

You are presuming the daily achievement is like doing 1 fractal in the category in 31-50 and you can get great rewards for it which isn’t necessary true.

Did the reward structure need a revamp? Certainly. It’s not surprising it was changed. But now, being rewarded for completing 3×15 minute maps is going to be the same kitten 40+minute runs is just breaking my heart.

what’s the different between 3×15 minutes maps and 1 40 minutes maps?

I think the problem is elementalist is just too good. Make every other class seemed useless.

You should be able to join most of the pug. But from time to time, there’s always “that” group which says, “LFM elementalist only”.

PvP meta: 4 elementalist and 1 thief.
PvE meta: 3 elementalist, 1 guardian, 1 warrior.

Yes, I am collecting skins. But I am also generating exotics for my future 80s.

Buying it would be an option but it would be an annoying one. I have plenty of ancient wood and ori. Mystic coins I have coming out of my ears. It would seem silly to just buy the item simply for lack of a single mat.

How is being short on spirit shards a good thing? It is not like they are taking up inventory in your bank, they go to your wallet.

Because you for some reason are rich. And you don’t farm. Tell me which farm generate money faster than spirit shards.

you make even slower gold from eotm, silverwaste, world boss, orr. For dungeon you probably break even.

If it is a cheap exotic that use eldrich scroll, just buy it directly. You won’t save much money anyway. Only use your skill points on expensive exotic, those are the ones you’ll save some money.

I do not create legendaries but I still need them to do anything with the MF that wants Eldrich Scrolls (which uses 50 spirit shards). A good example is mystical weapons.

are you collecting all the skins? How many weapons do you own now that use Eldrich Scrolls?

you should probably just buy it. saying you are short inspirit shards is like saying you have too much gold. Most people would probably be happy they are short in spirit shards.

I bought like 80 cores for 15-20 gold. I lost like 1000+ gold.

I don’t mind it so much. I just wonder why it is so inconsistent. Like the core would only cost like 200 gold per backpiece. While the hallowean skins is still like 4000 gold and Anet have no intent to make it cheaper.

What is the last game you raid in that you run 50 times and it dont’ give you “anything”. 50 times is like a whole year of raiding which dont’ drop anything.

WoW, because a repeat item doesn’t count (because WoW is gear focused, remember, so an upgrade that you already have is worthless), and there are plenty of runs where I have gotten absolutely nothing, whether due to lack of drops or, before the personal loot system, because I lost the roll.

You can go a long time without drops in WoW, whether dungeons or raids, whether gear or pets/mounts.

To this day, there are people that have never seen Invincible from WoTLK, and they’ve been in the game since WoTLK, and doing ICC at every chance.

50 times is like 1 year of raiding. If you ran 1 year of raiding without getting anything and is still content. You are a better man than me.

Then it’s a good thing I didn’t say anything like that.

Also it was admittedly in the 30s, but that’s still about 7 (7.5 I think) months where I obtained zero shinies and zero progression.

Was still not fun.

I’m just saying the percentage really matters.

I was happily running fractal since I have a 10% chance of getting a fractal skin. Until I have fractal sword left and realize the chance of me getting that specific skin is 0.5%.

All I can say is the grass is always greener on the other side. You are complaining about exclusive skins, while there are probably tones of great skins you can buy from the trading the post.

And the people running the hard content are probably complaining about the gold they make is too small, and they can get similar if not better skin from the TP if they run silverwaste.

Your point on what. The cough cough great exclusive rewards those hard content gives.

Then what would be a great exclusive reward for fractals? What will it take to satisfy people that want challenging content and unique rewards behind challenging content?

Cause so far it seems the answer is NOTHING. Which begs the question why ANet should even bother.

What is it you imagine when you hear the words unique rewards and challenging content. Because I will tell you right now, whatever it is, it is NOT what ANet is known for producing.

Since I spend 3 hours in a aetherblade pug. Just give me 30 gold instead of 1.5 gold. I dont’ care about the exclusive rewards. I get better rewards from buying in the TP anyway.

Dont’ tell me you care about people getting exclusive rewards in aetherblade or wurm bug you. Because you don’t.
