I didn’t read all this but I’ll share a secret. I made most of my money just selling legendary.

And the journey of making legendary means you can play every part of the game. From doing map completion, doing wvw, farming karma and skill point.

So really, you don’t need to do the same boring farm every day.

Theory about gems to gold from other players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: laokoko.7403

laokoko.7403

No, gems spent in the gem store are destroyed. This is the way of the gems: they are created by buying them for cash and destroyed by spending them in the shop.

The way of the gold is similar: gold is created by playing the game and is destroyed in various gold sinks of the game, like the trading post fee, travel costs, commander books, recipes…

Yes, the gem pool in the gem exchange started with something to begin. I explained in my first post in this thread where that may have come from: 1 gem per newly created account into the gem pool, and 16 copper per newly created account into the gold pool.

I assume there exists in fact the possibility for Arenanet to manually raise or lower the contents of the gold and gem pools of the gem exchange. But that’s not necessary. The gem exchange works perfectly without such manipulation. The formulas I presented are able to explain every historic development of the prices fine. There is no need for manual adjustment. And upon inspection of the price development, there is no indication that manual adjustments took ever place.

I don’t think anyone knows how it works besides Anet. Most likely everything Anet says is probably true, but since they never really said that much, no one knows what is actually going on.

But I find it more of a player entitlement problem. They want quality entertainment, but is too stingy on contribute money. This game is possible because of the hardworking employees of Anet, and investors willing to take a chance on making mmorpg.

The laughable part is players keep calling game company evil. When the players are what causing the problem(being too stingy on paying real cash to the mmorpg industry).

Can you imagine the amount of player manipulation there would be with gem/gold rates if there was no “tax” because I can!

I don’t think manipulation will be that much, since if price spike, there will be more people spending real cash to trade for gems.

I played a few mmorpg with the same gem<→gold system. Quite honestly all of them are doing the same thing.

I don’t think the open poster says something wrong(besides it’s mostly theory). It’s the part where he make a drama out of it is surprising.

And unlike the open poster, I’m not mad at Anet, because I find them more than fair. The problem is too many players are unwilling to pay 10-15$ per month. Try to play more mmorpg, you’ll find Anet be a really good company.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet NCSoft’s strategy behind all of their titles = cash machines.

Quite honestly, NCSoft is probably the most honorable game company in Asia.

Players unwilling to pay 10-15$ per month are the problem.

Instead of complaining, try thanking those players that spend money so you actually have a game to play.

If you just compare GW2 pvp to other mmorpg pvp, it is actually really good already.

Try to just buy it through lfg if money isn’t the problem.

I find guild upgrade to be a bit too pricy. Either the player need some senses to know those guild upgrade aren’t really worth it anyway, or hopefully Anet heard enough complaint and might make some changes.

The trick is farm other things at the same times. For example you might need some item for the new legendary or if you want to finish some weapon collection, farm those instead.

No one is stopping people from doing dungeon. And since Anet pretty much nerfed all reward progress, dungeon rewards actually isn’t so bad.

Whats the point of having legendary armor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

laokoko.7403

Ok maybe i said it the wrong way.

I’m talking here mainly about stats swapping. Since most of different build requires different stats and different runes/sigils.

The main think i want to say is that curently stats swapping is almost useless. Im not gonna change stats to Berserker on armor where i have Melandru runes (maybe it would have some usage but you know what i mean). Same the other way, I’m not gonna use armor with Krait/Trapper whatever runes with Berserker stats.

That’s what I’m trying to say. Besides cool looking skins legendary items are not very special compared to ascended.

What do you think guys about Legendary Runes/Sigils? Should they exist? I think they definitely should but only for legendary items. So you can’t put those runes in exotic gear for example.

I can tell you Anet probably never intended for legendary to swap stats, but you wont’ believe me anyway. There are probably too many confusion since there’s no stats swaping before, and people are wondering why the legendary weapon they craft is soldier gear.

But if Anet is to let legendary having sigil/rune swaping it would be great. One set to rule all set means people will no longer need to spend addition money to craft more ascended gear if they own a legendary. I hope Anet do it, so I can just focus on legendary and no need to worry about making more ascended gear.

Anet already said they have something in plan like crafting additional “blank” legendary. What ever that means. Anet probably will add new ways for people to be more convenient. Just dont’ expect it to be cheap.

I spent like 20k gold and I don’t even own a legendary or care about cosmetic. Horizontal progression is a *.

If anyone wonders how I spent so much money. Altaholic is a serious problem. If I come to some senses I should realize I don’t need 9 permanent bank license and +10 agony ring on every character.

That being said, I cut down on my altaholic problem and is getting my first legendary juggernaut.

I remember in one of the twitch Anet says something like they’ll add function to create a blank legendary.

Check the twitch yourself. It’s probably in one of the twitch about legendary a while ago.

In order to further my Masteries, I have to keep repeating the same events.

Is this not the case? I’m not being snarky in this post (like I was in the prior one). If you have some advice that will allow me to avoid this repetition, please give it.

You can get by if you have alts. I’m progressing decently by playing alts in the new zones. I don’t really need to grind.

If you only have 1 character though, you kind of have to grind the exp.

Also you most likely will be farming money anyway. So just find areas where you can farm and get the exp at the same time.

I used to be very unhappy for being poor. Until I find the power of hallucination.

When I see a Ferrari, I stopped thinking I want it. I start to tell myself sports car are very uncomfortable anyway.

When I see people with a big house, I start telling myself who want big house anyway. It take too long to clean up.

When I see people with legendary, I just tell myself who would want some sparkly shinny item with so many particle effect that you can’t see anything. “Point to the big Norn warrior wearing twilight”. And the little asura that wear sunrise looks like a kid running around peeing.

Some people make the claim “I want my elite specialist now, so I can play the new content with it…..” I just tell myself, those specialist suck anyway. Really, who in the right mind use druid/reaper/dragonhunter to explore the jungle. Those spec is really bad at exploration.

Some people complain about the mastery grind. But really, why are you grinding for an auto loot which crash your game. A precursor hunt mastery which cost more than buying the precursor directly from the trading post. A fractal mastery which drop bad loot.

I listen to many small guild complain about guild hall grind. But really, I don’t even understand why anyone care. Why are people grinding for a npc repair guy or merchant, which every map have.

So you see, instead of thinking the grass is always greener on the other side, think the grass is always greener on your side.

That being said, I’m finally rich enough to afford legendary. I think legendary are really cool. After I got my druid specialist, I find it being really cool. But I never use it. After I finally reach mastery level 30. I tell myself everyone lower level than me is a noob, and everyone higher level than me have no life.

Cheer and stay happy.

Just this past year, I fall unconscious on the ground. When I woke up, I have no memories of what’s going on, or how long have passed. Fortunately when my body collapse, I didn’t suffer from external injuries. Since sometimes when people have strokes, the thing that killed them is actually their head bump in other object. I personally is obese and have some respiratory problem. That is probably the main cause. But just want to remind people resting is important.

Also if you going to play long hours of video games. Make sure to take short break to rest your eyes. I’m only in my 30s and I’m starting to have presbyopia. I notice I can’t use the computer for very long, until I started to have blurred near vision.

Lastly try to maintain a relation with family and friends. I personally is jobless and don’t have much of a social life. Most of my life is spent playing video games.

If you are a game addict, at least try to talk to your family and friend. I regret not doing that younger. Right now, I try to spend a couple hours a day with families. Contacting old friends. There is also this girl, I used to like. I can’t contact her directly, since she’s not too fund of me harassing her back in the days when she had a boyfriend. I’ll try to contact mutual friends and ask how she is doing.

The primary problem here is just people like the OP who want everything at their fingertips just because they see someone else who has something they don’t because they didn’t put as much time/effort into it.

not really. I just have better things to do than stand around and wait for hours at a HC because I have to wait for other players. Maybe you and Anet don´t value ones own time, but I do.

“Listen, every champ in HoT is soloable.”

I´ll give anyone 1000g if they can put up a vid of them soloing the Pile of Guano Hero Point (the fight with the vampire boss)

hint: nobody can because it´s technically impossible

I’m uncertain but I think it might be possible. I think you are misleading the boss heal so much that 1 person is surely impossible. It’s mostly because people are close to him. If there is 1 person or if the person run away or interupt the boss the boss might not heal as much.

I tried to solo it twice, once someone join up. I just tried again. and being a newbie I dodge out the plateform and can’t go back again.

I think there is a possibility the boss is soloable. I’m just not sure if you’ll pay up when the someone post the video.

And only go up there when the copter is up. There is no point staying up there at day time since no one can go up anyway.

The only other item in the game that is comparable to this is the preserved bee queen. It requires you to give up an ascended slot and take subpar stats. Yet it still sells for ~2000g.

This item is ascended can be given any stats you want and has an even better effect.

Anyone who expected it to be less than 2000g was just having unrealistic expectations.

But at least the queen bee is a drop! If you don’t want to shell out the money then you can farm for it…. there is no other way to get this except to dish out the money.

It’s probably not a fair assessment. The drop rate is so low, You can probably run vine wrath 24/7 for a year and it probably still wont’ drop for you.

You can at least farm 24/7 for a year to make enough money to get the Nightfury.

That being said, both are on TP, it take less money to farm for queen bee.

Give me concrete numbers for your examples. Links, statements, official responses. How do you know the hardcore community is 1%? Stop the parallels with WoW, even if they would copy paste the raids from there it would still be totally different since this game does not have a hard, forced trinity.

It was originally posted by a developer during wow 2.0. During the panda expansion, I believe it is stated again on an interview. You can also check wowwiki.

Before Wrath of the Lich King came out, less than one percent of the playerbase actually experienced Sunwell.

I was actually the 1 percent that done Sunwell but wasn’t able to finish. When the guild leader says they want to extend raiding time to do Sunwell I told them I wasn’t able to commit and was kick out of the guild. This left a trauma for me that I quit mmorpg for a while.

This is ridiculous. Why are Anet catering to 1% of the population.

Hardcore raiding never works. It was shown less than 1% of the people actaully experienced Sunwell pre-wrath, the percentage of people completing it is like 1 in 10,000.

The percentage of people raiding in LOTR online is so tiny, they actually decide to remove it. And just look at Wildstar, it was shown hardcore raiding is a total failure.

Please, Anet, stop listening to the hardcore people. This was the first game designed for casual players. Now players need to grind “ascended armor” for a prerequisite to raiding. And the painful “attunement” process called grinding your mastery and experience before you can even try it.

This is unacceptable! I was kicked out my WoW guild because I can’t devote 50 hours a week to raid. And when I find out about GW2 I thought I’m finally free of this curse! But no, Anet is turning this game into a hardcore raiding game too!

the point of the stat change was because originally, legendary weapons like exotic, have specific stats, to you would have to transmute it to get the stats you wanted. A net later change it, so you could pick your stats with out having to transmute it. After all, getting one was not easy task. The point of a legendary is not to be able to have one set to rule them all, it’s so you can show off. The stat change was a QoL feature, that’s why they have not added the ability to change sigils already. if you where meant to be able to swap them freely, then they would have added it by now.

As I said, it would make legendary equipment must haves, and that’s not what they are about.

I see your point. I still disagree though. What’s wrong with making legendary equipment more desirable? It’s still going to be much, much more difficult to acquire than simply getting multiple sets of ascended equipment. I’m still going to spend the same amount acquiring the sigils/runes to unlock those options for that piece as I would putting them on separate setups. You could swap builds without manually swapping out armor and weapons in your bags, but you’d still have to change the stats and sigils on each piece of gear. Just as time consuming. Really, the only advantage would be less transmute charges used, and less storage space. It wouldn’t be must have because, for game play purposes, having multiple sets of ascended would do the same thing, just with more clutter.

I could be wrong, but as someone who likes small, graceful, less flashy, more realistic skins it seems to me like making legendaries desirable for something other than the over the top effects and oversized skins would be pretty nifty. Since any actual stat difference would be an abomination, that leaves making them mechanically different/interesting/useful.

I mean, wouldn’t it be cool if you got some benefit from having two Incinerators vs one Incinerator and one ascended dagger transmuted with the Incinerator skin? Other than the AP for the achievement? I think it would.

well you know if rich people dont’ want to pay for extra sets. I dont’ know why poor people need to do it.

I think that’s where the dilemma come from.

But one thing is for sure, if anet is going to push people to using multiple sets, it became really annoying “and expensive” to get multiple sets and carry them around.

You are wrong, BrotherBelial is right. You are viewing legendary weapons from todays situation. Back in the beginning of the game and for over 1.5 years legendary weapons came with predetermined stats.

So if you wanted a berserker Twilight, you had to transmute the legendary skin onto an exotic (later ascended) beserker weapon to get the best in slot for your build again. That’s why arenanet implemented the stat changing. There, small history lesson for you.

ya but if you search the forum. All the legendary owner will tell you Anet added stats switching as a QoL service. And since it is a QoL service, they might as well add rune/sigil switching too.

If you think Anet added stats switching because of historical reason, that is totally your opinion. But as far as I can tell, legendary owner will tell you otherwise.

the point of the stat change was because originally, legendary weapons like exotic, have specific stats, to you would have to transmute it to get the stats you wanted.

People who own a legendary would totally disagree. They believe Anet made legendary that way as a side benefit. And since they added the benefit, they might as well give them the rune/sigil switch ability too.

It is totally not because there are people who spend 2000 gold for a legendary and transmute it into a normal weapon. Because really, who would do that.
