wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
The why, I guess is up to anet… but personally the day I consider something I do just for fun a huge waste of time is the day I stop wasting my time playing video games…
Ok, the big question now is…. when are we getting to play a sandwichmancer?….
To get money, only the Orrian boxes so far.
Other than that, maybe buy cultural weapons for their skins if you want to.
In-game, no there’s no way, you can’t transmute medium to heavy or the other way around either. Your only hope is to try support, but be prepared to wait for a while, since AFAIK they don’t usually do that.
Actually because of this I have the unused ticket in my bank, still not sure which char I’ll going to use them on.
you can preview it in the pvp lockers if you want a better idea of how it looks on your character
that doesn’t really answer my question, like at all.
Is it dyeable?
Well, the poster above answered (no, it’s not), but you can also preview it in a way. Just preview the piece of armor on the PvP locker, then open the TP and search for dyes and preview them up to 4 times (so that it uses the 4 possible dye slots)… the parts that don’t change colors are not dyable.
I remember doing that to the CoF armor to see if I could change the color of the flames (wanted to make them blue for my guardian).
Off the top of my head, so probably missing some. Add anything else I might have missed on further comments and I’ll edit this post:
Actually removed never to come back:
Southsun event: one time karka attacking Lion’s Arch, followed by an attack on southsun shore ending on the big fight against the ancient karka. The southsun area was left as a permanent adition but nothing to do there until now. You can still see the corpse of the ancient karka on the cave near the lava.
Flame and Frost storyline: Some open world things to do like helping settlers and dredge/flame legion invasions, 2 solo instances, 1 group dungeon. There are rumors that the group dungeon might be coming back in the future, maybe as a fractal mini dungeon, but nothing further has been said about it.
Removed but will probably come back:
Halloween event: Open world events and things to find, 1 group mini dungeon, 1 explorable area, jumping puzzle, etc. Will most likely come back next halloween.
Christmas event: Daily mini dungeons, PvP area, jumping puzzles, new open world events. Also will most likely come back next christmas.
Super Adventure Box: Instanced game based on old 8 bit games, could be scaled from 1 to 5 players, open world events (the boxes, they were removed before the event was done, though). There were weapon skins (you can preview them on the PvP locker as “super weapons”) you could get from the SAB with baubles that dropped on it, there may still be some skins on the TP (haven’t checked) but they’re most likely VERY expensive by now. According to a dev post, the SAB will return more frequently than yearly because of the overwhemly positive response, new levels will be added (3 were available), but the skins might not come back, instead replaced by new ones.
The current southsun event will probably be gone as well once it’s done, there is going to be a new dungeon but we have no idea whether it’ll be permanent or not. Also note that some things added in previous temporary events (open world mini dungeons and jumping puzzles, for example) stayed permanently, so probably some things (like IMHO the stepping stones jumping puzzle) will stay after southsun is done.

The general idea of the game story is that up to 1 year before the game begins, the charr and humans were still at war, all races are fighting together right now because there’s a bigger threat out there (the dragons). That said, the war had been going on for over 200 years already, so the humans that actually killed Khan-Ur are long dead, the humans that did all that are basically dead, and while the war had been going on heavily in the ascalon territories, most of tyria was unnafected by it including places where human and charr had been coexisting peacefully for years already (like Lion’s Arch). To be honest after such a long war I really wonder whether it was still going on because of the original reasons or just because of inertia.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
NOVEL SPOILERSAlso, according to the novels, one of the reasons the Vigil was created was to initiate a cease fire between both sides, it was created by human and charr members initially, and the armistice talks had been going on secretly for a while. Queen Jenna comisioned the Vigil to retrieve the claw of khan-ur from the ruins of Ascalon so that she might publicly present it as a gift and peace offering to the Charr
Of course it’s not the answer. Everyone knows that the answer is 42.
The real kicker, though, is to find out what the question is… but then again some people say that if the question and the answer is known at the same time the universe will be destroyed and replaced by a much more illogical one… which might have already happened..
Left hand:
WASD – movement
123QE – weapon skills
ZXC – utility skills
F1-F4 – class skills (I guess it helps I have big hands, I don’t have a problem reaching them without taking the hand off the keyboard)
Left Hand:
mouse (right click to look, left click to interact)
two extra buttons on mouse mapped to heal and elite skill.
I completed the 25 achievements in about 2 hours. Of course, reading Dulfy’s guide and having a friendly mesmer portal you on the stepping stones JP helps (don’t forget to tip or at least thank the mesmer)… and now I have both backpacks gathering dust on my bank because they don’t really fit the look of any of my level 80 chars (just like the fused gauntlets ticket)…
Hello there..
And further proof that you can’t please everyone.
Few days ago we had a thread complaining about the southsun story ending on a 5 man dungeon (before it was even announced), now they announce there’ll be both a solo and a group dungeon, and there are complaing about the solo one because dungeons should only be group based.
I guess it’s just human nature, some people complain about the RNG lottery boxes, yet others buy them in the hundreds to get their skins showing Anet that RNG lottery boxes are actually succesful, some complain about nothing for guilds to do, guild missions are added, so now there are complains about people feeling left out of content for not being in a guild, and so on.
Internet culture in general. Unsolicited whispers like this from someone you’ve never even heard about before register as mass advertising just as mail spam, and lots of people (myself included) would treat it just the same (in my case just a simple ignore if it’s the first time, a block if I receive it again), I wouldn’t call it lack of courtesy, more of a conditioned reflex caused by regular internet usage when it comes to unsolicited advertising.
Now, if you were talking to someone (maybe doing a dungeon together) and during the conversation you mentioned something like “Oh, btw, I noticed you’re unguilded, would you be interested in joining mine?” and they didn’t respond, then I would call it lack of courtesy, otherwise not.
The armor is soulbound on acquire and always has been. If you want any dungeon armor just be sure to purchase it on the char you intend to use it on, the tokens are account bound so they can be shared, the armor is not.
Lorewise, they both fit a warrior perfectly but for different reasons.
A norn would probably be the lone warrior seeking for glory, the way I picture them would be the one rushing to the front lines hacking at everything in front (and to the sides) of them, and nobody to answer to but themselves.
A charr warrior, on the other hand, would probably be a more organized type of warrior, more of a soldier type, part of a strict military organization, is is more likely to go to war as part of a highly organized group (their warband). Instead of seeking personal glory they’re more likely to seek glory for the charr as a whole and for their warband.
In the end it all comes down to aesthetics, norn when it comes down to it are bigger bulkier humans, so other than cultural weapons, the armors fit simmilarly. Charr on the other hand are very different when it comes to their posture and general attitude, and even in some armors (female charr wear male version of lots of armor, for example), and also in their animations. Some people love the fact that they run in all fours, other hate it.
My advice would be to check on a site like http://argos-soft.net/GW2ArmorGallery/index.php?sex=0&weight=3&color=10&race=1 how the different armors look on each race, so you don’t end up with a race that at 80, your favorite piece of armor looks like crap on it, and also make two temporary chars, one of each race, to get a feel of the animations and movement and see if you like them.
They didn’t say they were not going to make any expansion pack, they said they had no plans of an expansion at the current time, meaning that expansions will come for sure, just that they have no plans (or more likely, no plans they’re willing to share) yet.
And don’t worry, we still have 4 more dragons in the horizon (very possibly 5), 1 (or two) of which we don’t even know the names, at least one race basically all set up to be playable even with a perfect for now inaccesible starting area (the tengu), and a LOT of space in the map unexplored, both seen and unseen (the depths of tyria, where the stone dwarves and Primordius are supposed to be, a vast network of caves under the regular map), so we do have lots of space for future expansions..
Right, because it’s not like you can ignore it or do something else, or that other people might enjoy it or find it an easy daily.
Can’t please all the people all the time.
Some of us don’t leave WvW and we don’t need the flavor of the month getting in the way. They already waste enough space with pve dailies.
How did you do the dailies before then?… I don’t remember ever seeing more than 3 dailies dealing with WvW, and usually 2
Quote from Gaile Gray:
“We’ve been supporting Guild Wars for 8 years now. And many of our devs were involved in games for years and years before that. We’ve found that warnings are ineffective. That taking the time to send emails earns us arguments back and continued discussion for a subject that needs no discussion.
The 3-day suspension IS your warning. There is no lasting effect on your account, but this system has proved to be very effective, and our game world is regarded as a far more pleasant place to be than most game worlds, in part because we don’t fiddle-faddle around with offensive names and chat”.Edit: you can consider that the TOS, which you accepted, saying that you had read it and agreed to the terms, was your first warning.
I agree with everything that the post and you have said, but you need to realize that not every single name ban is offensive, justified, or even understood. If a name a blatently offensive, sure, ban em’. But that is simply just not the case with every single one.
They shouldn’t waste time on people that can’t follow simple rules. They have more important things to do.
But it’s not simple. Could you explain to me how a name like “Do It To It” is offensive and bannable?
Since you ask, it might not be offensive but doesn’t mean it’s not “warnable” (as it was said before, the 3 days suspension is a warning, not a ban).
The naming policy (can’t link to it, it redirects me to the spanish version because my browser is in spanish) directly forbids using names that refer to (paraphrasing from the spanish version) references people, materials or products protected by copyright, and as you probably know, “Do it to it” is the name of a single by the group Cherish.
EDIT: see if this link works for the naming policy:

It’s one out of 11 possible achievements, of which you only need to complete 5 for the daily rewards. So far daily achievements have always been a mix of all the different things you can do in game (jumping puzzles, WvW, mini games which now include crab toss) but in my experience there has always been at least 5 that can be done easily and quickly in regular gameplay without doing one jump puzzle, mini game or stepping in WvW at all.
I did tonight’s particularly quick, though, did 4 of them in the thaumanova reactor (daily kill variety, maguuman event completer with one fire elemental + pre-events, daily champion by doing the bonus boss event with the matrix key someone had, and daily recycler by salvaging the stuff I got as drops from doing those), then I had a choice of krytan killer (which includes southsun), daily gatherer or daily condition remover for the 5th one, ended up being condition remover which I finished quickly fighting a couple of drakes, but that’s because as a DPS/support specced guardian I had lots of condition removal options.
I think you are replying to the wrong thread.
The way I read it is that he’s complaining that the crab toss is buggy and laggy (can’t comment there, haven’t played it past the few seconds to get the achievement) and yet is part of the daily achievements, which is what I’m responding to.
Complaining about it being laggy or buggy I can get behind with (again, haven’t tried it fully myself, but I agree that if it is, complains are in order), but can’t really see it bad being a daily, since it is new content and one of the reasons for the dailies is to try to get people experience different aspects of the game, which is why WvW and things like jumping puzzles and crafting are part of the achievements as well. Now, if they made it 4 or 5 different dailies be crab toss related, I’d join you in the complain as well.
1) Would be nice to have, but not big of a priority IMHO.
2) Agree, not much of a big deal but would be nice to have.
3) Colors I agree, sort of what they already do with guildies and party members. IIRC you can see their names when selecting them. So far haven’t seen a game (outside of plugins at least) that lets me select nicknames fro friends.
4) I’d rather keep in the mysts. At least in my experience in other games you’d end up with PvErs annoyes with PvPers that keep requesting duels. Or at least if on the open world, keep it to a specific areas (the arena in the black citadel, for example).
5) agree
6) strongly agree. I’d definitively like to see an in-game LFG, even if it’s funcionally identical to the website with the only difference that it automatically removes listing when parties are full
7) Agree
8) TBH I’d ask for my money back on a mouse if holding a button while playing with it broke it down.
9) Not gonna happen… even if it’s technical feasible, it would be a nightmare to balance, and you’ll have new “FotM classes” all the time.
10) Fully agree. The guild I’m on actually has done two massive kickings – reinviting (second one was to consolidate two guilds into one) to remove inactive players.
11) No, thank you. There are already enough third party places to re-create your build, which isn’t hard to do, if you want to discuss them… and personally I had a bad experience with people demanding achievement, gear and build linking before allowing you to get into a party in other games, I’ve already seen a little of it in this game (“link your zerker gear or get out!!!”), I’d rather not give more tools to allow that.
12) Would be a good idea, and probably not too hard to implement with the dummies that already exist in Lion’s Arch and in the mysts. Just don’t allow to see other people DPS, for the same readon than the above.
13) Yes, please!!!
14) I’ve done that a lot already, no idea why you can’t. Then again, I’ve usually done it in guild groups, maybe it’s limited to guilds or something, no idea.

Also there are several achievements that aren’t available there. Without the omelette and without actually playing crab toss you should be able to reach 24/25 achievements, just wait until the other ones become active and do one of them for the tentacle backpack.
All of these I disagree with, but rather than a simple “no” I’ll be constructive and suggest alts:
Personal shops – perhaps just changing this idea to “player trade” like GW1 and most other mmo’s. granted this may cause a lot of spam in map chat, however in the case that you loot a precursor that you don’t need you could do a player to player trade swapping for the precursor you do need, this in turn helps you out by not having to pay the trading post fees!
Player housing – just bring back guild halls with the ability to purchase npc’s and upgrades that give minor guild boosts all over tyria!
Travel – no mounts, but the boat idea is nice, for example it could take you from LA to Orr via southsun with different dynamic events happening on the boat during the travel, if you fail an event the boat sinks and you are washed to the nearest shore with a “disorientated” effect that lasts for 10-minutes. Just to add a bit of fun to the game!
I don’t think a personal shop would work that well into the game, mainly because what would you sell that isn’t more easily and conveniently available with the TP. Also the lack of player trade is meant precisely to prevent people from avoiding paying the TP fees. Gold sinks as necesary to prevent inflation, specially with so much gold being introduced into the world with things like CoF P1 farming.
Player housing, I agree would be a nice addition to the personal instance in your home city, plus guld housing would be a great thing to have. Actually I liked how Age of Conan did it in the first place, basically you reserved your guild spot and an instance was generated for every 3 guilds, so you actually had neighbours building their guild keeps in the same area.
On the travel area, I like that idea of boat travels with the posibility of events. Actually in Age of Conan (to bring the game again) had something like that. To travel to the first expansion area you had to take a boat, but there was something like an event (a random quest) happening on the way and you had to succeed in order to reach the new area, if you didn’t it sent you back to the dock. Some of the events were a giant squid attack where you had to man the boat’s cannons to kill, crew getting sick so you had to swim to a nearby island to gather herbs for a medicine, a mysterious wind preventing the boat to go any further, you had to go to the island again to find the source which turned out to be a wizard you had to kill, and so on.
Yeah, I guess I’m out for trying to get the Consortium Negotiator acheivement. I did all but 2 with the Settler buff (23/25) and now I don’t have enough (non crab and non JP) achievements to do under the Consortium buff. Rats.
Probably those are the ones you’re missing. IIRC there’s one achievement for completing events with the consortium buff, then you also get an achievement for completing both settler and consortium achievements.
Right now you can get 26 achievements, including the one about participating in crab toss but not any other crab toss achievements.
What about a check something like every four hours of game time, just to see if a person has gotten a rare in that time, and increase their chances if they haven’t until they get one?
Just thinking aloud here, but it might be hard to code too.
IMHO that would not only be hard to code, but easy to exploit as well.
I say hard to code because too many variables involved. What was the player doing in those 4 hours?… exploring, farming heavily, which kind of mobs he was farming, how many were being tagged (for example, a mesmer that has AoE skills on cooldown Vs. a guardian wielding a staff that AoEs in autoattack), was he doing events, which events, on which area, at which level and so on.
And I say easy to exploit because if such mechanism is introduced, it’ll be figured out quickly enough, and you’ll see people idling in (for example) penitent camp, that is a popular farming spot, while they do something else and waiting until the time runs out and then start farming with the equivalent of higher magic find.
RNG is working as intended, I’ve had days where I do all dragon events, for example, and get only rares from bonus chests and no ecto, and other days I’ve done only two, and gotten one or two rares off regular chests and several of them salvaged for 3 ectos each.
My vote is for the 1st one. I like the Asura cultural gear for light armor personally.
I’m working on my engineer look, and while we are looking at armors, I’m just curious what people think of this armor set-up? (Color subject to change)
I am liking it the more I look at it, so I will more then likely do it no matter what lol. :P
(I just wish Charr horns stuck out of all head pieces)
The pieces look great together, but the fully white pieces look odd to me, the feel I get from watching it is a figurine that hasn’t been fully painted yet, the other colors look good together.
I’ll always say that the more skins the better, but if you’re looking for them, the TP will show a very limited selection when it comes to skins, specially if you limit your search to rares and exotics, when you’re bound to have about three options of skins available (crafted, dropped ones that share the same skins, and “named”). You won’t find there most of the armor you can buy with karma, for example, or dungeon, order or cultural armors. Also once you’re 80 usually people get one piece or armor for stats, and another one for looks, and nothing wrong with using low level or blue or green gear for looks.
Check the link pixelpumpkin placed to see the different options available, and my suggestion would be to also go to the hearts of the mysts, to the right of where you spawn there are several PvP Lockers, there you can preview all the different armors available in the game, just look for the medium armor section. They’ll be all grayed out unless you play lots of sPvP but you can still right click and preview them on your character. Don’t forget you don’t need to wear a full set, you can also mix and match different pieces from different sets for a more unique look (there’s a thread here where people post mixed gear looks), once you find a good look for your char, write down the names of the pieces of gear you used and check on a site like argos or http://www.gw2armor.com/ to find the PvE name (PvP and PvE names are different) and what you need to do to get it (fill a specific heart to unlock the vendor, do a dungeon for tokens, and so on).
http://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWarsDyeJob this is a nice place to get some ideas from.
Since you’re a mesmer, I’d go for #1, I’d go for #2 if it was an elementalist heavily into fire damage, though.
In general:
- Hotbars for putting consumables or quest items (though to be fair the only time I’ve really missed this was last night doing the achievements in southsun and having to open the inventory to find the sample collection gun)
From WoW:
- A LFG tool. Note that I’m talking about the burninc crusade/early Lich King style LFG, not sure how it works now but back then you just tagged yourself as LFG for specific dungeons and had to talk to people to get a group invite, I’d just want something like the website already does but in-game.
- Switchable dual specs
From Rift and Age of Conan
- An appearance tab allowing you to put gear to use their looks. I know it’s not gonna happen because of the transmutation crystals, though.
From The Secret World
- The unlocking of skins/clothes for completing specific tasks during the game.
From GW1:
- Having to hunt and capture elite skills from mobs in the open world, and skill vendors that sell different skills trough the world.
- A dervish…
You can also just ask nicely if you can participate, just out of courtesy. I’ve done that and I’ve gotten a temporary guild invite, so that I’d get the commendations as well (and also so me finishing the course counted for them), but of course depends heavily on the guild’s recruitment policy. Still, even if you’re doing for fun, doesn’t hurt to ask first.
As much as it sucks for you I have to admit I’m happy you came to this conclusion.
Hopefully if enough people refuse to buy RNG boxes they’ll stop selling them and offer the items another way.
That’s the big elephant in the room. You see this and other threads full of “I bought 10 boxes, got nothing”, “I got 20 boxes, got crap” “I purchased 30 boxes, didn’t get the skin I wanted” and so on.
I dislike RNG as much as anyone, but I’m not a loss in that front because I don’t usually buy stuff of the gem store in the first place… but you get people saying how they hate RNG, but only after buying a bunch of the RNG item and not getting lucky.
And well, from Anet point of view, anytime they introduce an RNG item to the item store they get a few people complaining on the forum and maybe on chat, and a massive increase in gem store purchases of that RNG item (or at least it’s the impression I get from what I read on other posts and other people), the only conclusion they could draw from that is that the majority of the people (or at least the majority that spends money) love RNG items, and to be honest, if I was in their position, that’s what I’d think as well.
Talk is cheap, the only way Anet will stop adding more RNG items to the gem store in the future is to convince them that the huge majority doesn’t want them, and the only real way to convince them is if people do not buy them in the first place… and TBH seeing in game so many people talking about how many boxes they’ve already tried, and so many showing off the skins they got off it makes me think it’s really not the case, as much as I’d wish it was the other way around.
The founder of the guild I played with in WoW died back in 2007… he was 60 years old at the time, but knowing him (I knew him for about 10 years before we started in WoW), if he was still alive, he would still be playing today.
And in GW2 I’m member of a rather large multi game guild directed at the older players, minimun age is 25, there are member right into their 60’s, and I know of at least one other similar big guild in the server.
A scythe…. attached to a dervish on the other end..
And I’d let necromancers using it… but only when the dervish is busy crafting..
It is gambling from a practical point of view, but it isn’t from a legal point of view simply because you’re not getting anything that has a monetary value, or that can be converted into money, which is why things like collectable cards aren’t legally considered gambling.
Actually I remember reading a novel about a place that went around gambling laws by giving different colored teddy bears instead of money for winning… and across the street there was a completely unrelated pawn shop that would pay money for teddy bears, the amount of money depended on the color.
I won’t be buying chests, but that’s nothing new for me, I haven’t bought anything other than some transmutation crystals off the gem store, and that was with gold bought gems.
I doubt largos will become playable anytime soon. I like them as a race, and would be cool playing with one, but there are some disadvantages I see to them becoming a playable race.
One big defining role of the Largos as a race is how mysterious they are. One big factor about it is the fact that we don’t know how they look like behind the mask (the model looks like a sort of blue skinned elfish humanoid, but that might be just a placeholder) because they never show themselves without it to outsiders, so adjustements would be needed with the many versions of open face head armor in the game.
Their starting areas and probably most of their areas would be underwater, which I’d really like. Thing is, underwater combat in most professions is severely lacking when compared to regular combat, it would need a massive overhaul if underwater areas are added to the game.
Another defining factor of the largos as a race is their ability to stealth. Thing is, most professions have a defining factor to them (rangers-pets, mesmers-illusions and so on) and stealth is the thief’s defining factor. If they allow other professions to stealth would first cheapen the thief as a profesion (IMHO) and could make others OP.
Tengu is the most likely first new playable race.
The have a story with GW1 already (you had tengu sidekicks, for example), they have a starting area already set (behind the wall) and that is connected to low level areas, and their body style is very similar to the charr, so the armor customization would be easier for them (bulk of the work will be to get head armors to work with the beak).
Some disadvantages I see for other races, at least for first expansion:
Largos: Big part of what makes them interesting is the mysterious aura around them, and a big part of that, other than their attitude, is the fact that you can’t see their faces, it’s always obscured by their masks. It would clash with many of the head armor styles that are open face. Also I’m generally against giving profession defining skills as racial traits, would become OP with some other professions, and a big part of the largos is their ability to go stealth, something that is usually a thief thing.
Kodan: They’re a personal favorite of mine, I’d love to play one. The main issue I see with them becoming playable races would be the starting area. According to lore they’re very attached to their floating cities, and the reason they are in the game areas at all was that their cities crashed against the ice when Jormag awoke, and that is on a level 80 areas. All the areas with kodan presence are higher level. Might be for future expansions, but would need lots of development for a first one because all armors need to be adjusted for their different body type and all new starter areas need to be developed for them.
Stone Dwarves: I like this option as well, but I don’t see them as playable for a first expansion mainly because they probably are in the depths of tyria fighting primordius and its minions. I’d say a while depths of tyria focused expansion would be a bit too ambicious for a first expansion, though I’d love to see it (though I’d rather see cantha and/or elona first).
Ogres: They are very interesting for a playable race, but as with Largos, I’m against giving defining profession traits to a playable race as a whole, since it would either cheapen that profession if other professions can do their “thing”, and it has the posibility to create OP builds, and if you read the lore a huge part of ogre culture is about pets, to the point there the social status of an ogre is mainly defined by how powerful its pet is.
Isn’t there anyway for us gamers to make a petition against using RNG system in GW2 ?
Yes, don’t buy them.
Unfortunately, during the flame and frost stories, I kept reading how people got their tickets after opening a lot of boxes, which leads me to believe that sales of keys and/or RNG boxes increase a LOT when they introduce them, so from Anet point of view, GW2 players (or at least a significant amount of the gem store using community) do like RNG.
If nobody bought them, they wouldn’t be affordable to keep introducing RNG based items, and they’d find other ways to introduce them. Experience tells me that people do buy them.. and a LOT.
I’ll always agree with more armor options, but that said there are at least 10 closed face heavy helmets in game (not counting the ones that barely show the face, like the AC heavy or the cultural ones, that the sylvari are the only ones without a cultural full face helm).
I’m actually on the opposite side, there are several heavy helmets I generally like the design for my sylvari guardian (the ones from CM and CoE, for example), but I don’t like that don’t show the face.
Personally I found the MF dungeon very enjoyable and I’d love to be able to see it again (actually same goes for lots of other seasonal things like the mad king mini dungeon, the clocktower, the christmas mini dungeon and so on, but those will probably return every year). Wouldn’t really care about the achievements, but I’d like to keep the instances going.
Maybe there could a new instance that allows you to visit places from the near past (after all, the mysts are supposed to allow to visit different worlds), add some lore about how in a particular lore Roxx and Braham failed to destroy the weapons facility and you go in to make sure they succeed, and put there the temporary instanced content that is added to the game after they’re over. It could also be used to re-create some of the dungeons from the original GW as well.
I know what you mean by human female mesmers lol. I made 2 mesmers. One was asuran( now level 66, pretty sweet). I tried making one really different. I made a male human mesmer. Made him the biggest and widest possible with a shaved head and a beard, it was just too much lol. All the light armor made him kind of flamboyant lol. Had to delete it.
Or not flamboyand enough!!!..
Change human to norn and you’ve basically described my male norn mesmer..
Thing is, you can’t play all 8 professions without purchasing gems (either with gold or with money) since you’d need to unlock more character boxes. Having actual rewards (like extra magic find) for someone that plays all 8 professions would be seen as borderline P2W, and I think it’s something Anet is trying to avoid so far.
Personally I just play whatever I feel like playing, right now I have a mesmer and guardian at 80 that I play mostly about the same (also depends a lot on the dailies, I favor the mesmer, for example, if it includes aquatic slayer or conditions applier, while I go to my guardian when it’s attacks dodged or conditions dispelled), with a warrior and an engineer I play from time to time slowly leveling, usually after I’m done with the daily if there are no dungeons groups in the guild at the time (though I’m honestly not really “feeling” the engineer, thinking about deleting it and making an elementalist to try it out).
AFAIK, as long as you get a bronze participation reward, you get full chest rewards. The fact that most of the times you get green and blues, and haven’t gotten an exotic is basically RNG working as intended… and actually if you’ve gotten 3 in chests since release you’re already ahead of the curve (I’ve gotten a grand total of 1 since release).
There are two things happening that people define as lag. One is graphical lag (which I’d consider more of a performance problem), the other is actual server lag. The sugestions you’re giving are great for increasing performance (I specifically would love to have 1 and 2, or at least a particle slider, and 4), but would do nothing for server lag, which is the one I see most complained about.
Basically the general idea is, if the game and your skills are responsive (as in, skill happen when you press or click on them), but you have slow FPS, then it’s computer performance that is the problem, but if you click on an ability and takes a little while to process, or you see things suddenly stop moving (specially if the FPS remains somewhat smooth), then it’s a server lag issue.
1) Use your Bank. If you deposit items into your bank, you could take them out on the alt character and use them (assuming that they aren’t Character Bound to your main character).
2) Mail things to a guild member, then have them mailed to your alt. This is how I can get the weapons that I wanted whenever I start a new alt and I’m stuck in the beginning instances.
Ahh so I wasn’t a complete idiot at least lol.
One question though: where are the banks, in Rata Sum for example? The only time I’ve seen a bank tab pop up was when crafting.
From where you arrive in rata sum, go down a level. There’s a triangle shaped room with banks in one side, traders on the other, and guild stuff on the other. I have my mule char parked there for easy access to them all…
Harvesting plants is the best way to get them, but RNG can be a pain. You can also buy Unid Dyes with Laurels from dailies and monthly.
That said, it’s a lot cheaper and easier to buy the dyes you want on the TP. Or you can just buy dyes that are below 1s and then play around to see what looks good. Look here for a list of dyes: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dye
You don’t even need to buy dyes to see what looks good, you can just preview directly from the TP. One thing, the dyes will look different depending on where in the armor they’re applied. There are 4 dye slots in the preview window, corresponding to the up to 4 “color zone” each armor has, if you preview a die, it’ll go to the first slot, you preview again (or preview a second die), it’ll go to the second slot and so on. You can also right click on the slots and remove preview dies from there, so you can create color combinations there and see which dyes you want before buying.
Then again, there’s also the fact that you need 250 unidentified dyes to create the gift of color, needed for the bitfrost legendary staff. That alone is one sure reason why I’d never get it, unidentified dyes are like bubble wrap for me, I just could not have any if then in my inventory without clicking on it.

The earring are meant to be acquired via guild missions, they’re worth 5g and 12 guild commendations on the trader (you can get up to 6 commendations per week account bound if your guild unlocks and does all 6 mission types) plus they have a chance to randomly drop off the chest you get at the end of the mission. I remember reading a post shortly after they were introducing basically saying that the laurel earrings are an alternative, but the main way to get them was through guild missions, and that the laurel cost was intentnionally high.
BTW, if your not in a guild, or your guild doesn’t do missions, ask around. I’ve had guilds give me a temporary invite so I can get a reward off their guild missions after asking nicely if it was ok if I participated, they really don’t lose anything for doing it, but depends really on their recruitment policy (for full disclosure, the guild I’m on doesn’t do this because it’s a multi gaming guild and the policy says that all recruitment, even if it’s temporary, is done trough the website and while it’s rather large and active, very few people have the ability to invite, but if your guild happens to be around when we’re doing the mission and can unlock it, we usually stay around to help).
I’ve had 3 keys drop from random mobs since release. As it happens, one dropped for me yesterday, and a guildie got one yesterday little time after I got mine. RNG at work.
When a new build is released but nothing changes (a maintenance build) the game downloads 48 megs that is the size of the new executable for the new version, so usually when you see a download that size it’s because nothing changes.
In this particular case, though, what changed was that they fixed the lost and found items that were missins on some servers, most likely a server side change which is why nothing new was downloaded on the client side, other than the new version of the executable.
Same, I’d put the vote to 3 (hey, if there are 3 trolls, well, they’re majority, leave group and form new one).
I support not being able to kick people during boss fights, if you made it all the way there, at least wait until the fight is over (or your group wipe) before the kick. Honestly I can’t really see a good reason to allow kicking people during boss fights other than trying to deny them the rewards from it.
And also +1 for allowing the party to remain after the group creator leaves the group, but probably that’s because I fell for the whole group dissolving during a dungeon when the leader disconnected that happened before, plus I’m one that had to run for a RL emergency (baby waking in the middle of the night crying) right before being able to loot a chest at the end of a dungeon and thankfully it was still there when I came back.
