wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I’d buy the heavy armor but… can’t seem to purchase gems with gold atm some kinda bug going on there. :oT
OR, ANET is removing gold to gems because of the lack of people spending RL cash for gems. -LOL
That’s now how the exchange works. AFAIK, contrary to popular belief, Anet does not supply free gems in any way, each and every gem offered in the exchange system was bought by someone and paid for in RL cash, then sold there for gold, which is why the price fluctuates, since it depends on how many gems are being offered and in stock Vs. how many people are buying them with gold.
Whether you get gems with your credit card or with in-game gold, Anet doesn’t care, at one point or another, the gems were already paid for in RL cash. Actually I’d even go ahead and say that they prefer you to buy them with gold, since they’re already paid for and they work as a gold sink as well (converting gold to gems and back to gold has a tax of around 35% according to wiki).
In my experience those guilds do exist and I’ve been member of some of them, but they’re either small guilds created by groups of friends that already knew each other (on or offline), or very big multi-gaming guilds where people can know each other from previous games or from guild forums.
To range is the act of wandering or roaming over a large area. Fantasy rangers are calls so because of their roaming and vagabond nature not because they use a ranged weapon. The most famous (and perhaps first) ranger wielded a greatsword. Perhaps the second most famous ranger wields 2 scimitars (though he sometimes has a bow)
As GW2 is a game with firearms, I submit to you that the second most famous ranger used pistols. The most famous ranger is clearly Chuck Norris.
What about the Lone Ranger?… he used pistols as well, but his armor could use a new dye job, IMHO..
Do they not suck?
beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, I guess..
Personally the medium ones make me want to start leveling my engineer again so he can get it..
Mesmers are now only going to be going shatterer. Just what this game needs more people going burst.
I saw the opposite.
Harder to reach the shatter cooldown reduction trait, but illusions have a 270% boost in health. Time for builds that rely on illusions being alive rather than sacrificed.
Same here. Actually my mesmer (scepter-pistol/staff condition damage) seems to have gotten a nice buff, but won’t say for sure until I’ve tried it (which most likely won’t be until tomorrow).
I’ll wait until I actually test around the changes, but overall I’m happy with the guardian changes, and I think my mesmer (scepter-pistol/staff condition damage) got a buff..
It would be nice for my Charr character also. I went to a lot of trouble to pick out a fur pattern I like and it’s not even visible. All the armor covers it up completely. Having the option to hide chest armor would be a plus for the looks.
If you’re light armor, use the feathered set chest armor shows some skin, if you’re heavy, then use the pit fighter, barbaric or gladiator chests armors, they all show lots of skin.
If you’re medium armor user, then yep, you’re screwed..
It can be a good idea for future events, but I honestly doubt they’d do something like this for this particular event, mainly because of the people that have already spent gold/money on coffers to get a ticket.
I undestand and agree that a way to get tickets that aren’t tied to RNG (heck, I’d even support if they had a ticket as reward for 100k zaithaffy), but adding it at this point to the event would anger those that already spend gold or money in coffers because it was the only way to get them in the first place.
I am considering buying all 3 books, is each a individual story or are they connected?
The fantasy books I like to read are by:
David Gemmel
George R. Martin
Terry Pratchett
Robert Jordan
Raymond E. FeistIs the writing in the same league as those?
I feel very much disconnected from Guild Wars lore/story, especially as I never played GW1, so would love to get to know the lore more over a good story…
Haven’t read the third one yet, but the first two ones are losely connected individual stories.
Ghosts of Ascalon deals a lot more with the world in general and the events tha happened on it, IMHO it’s very good for the lore background of the GW2 world. Edge of Destiny doesn’t deal with the lore as much, but it (obviously) tell you the story of the main characters in GW2 and what happened to them. The novels are losely connected in the fact that the events in Edge of Destiny happen before Ghosts of Ascalon (the novels seem to go in reverse chronological order), so in GoA you there are mentions and cameos of characters and events from EoD, but the general storyline is mostly independent.
The writting is very nice, though of course it’s not nearly as good as the ones you mentioned, and sometimes it feels like some of the events or situations are forced to move the story forward or drive a point, but in general I’d say it does its work and were enjoyable to read.
Things like this make me think that there’s some kind of DR being applied to coffers, because I keep hearing of people buying and opening coffers in the hundreds or even thousands and not getting anything, while there are also lots of people that got tickets seem to be usually opening them as they get them, and getting them as drops as they play instead of buying them in bulk.
And actually, that’s my case.. when I saw that the skins were gated behind the RNG boxes, I just filed them as “nice looking but I’m not gonna get one”, kept playing as usual, killing the holographic mobs off projectors when I ran into them during regular playtime (one day I did farm them, though, so I could finish the schievement) and opening chests as they dropped… and I got a ticket off a chest dropped by a holographic mob (I guesstimate I had opened somewhere between 150-200 chests by then).
You don’t need to spam tab, just 1, it’ll hit stuff in front of you whether you have enemies selected or not.
I usually use staff on events with lots of enemies, just keep spamming 1 while running around the enemies, with the ocasional 3 thrown around.
If you transmute the item to a low level white items, they become account bound, at which point you can take them on other character and transmute to another item to souldbind it to them.
“soon™*”..

Haven’t used the TA armor myself (don’t particularly like it), but from what I’ve read on the internet, being a sylvari armor, which is grown over the user, some parts of it take the color of the skin of the user. Maybe it’s the case with the eyes, maybe they take the color of the skin or the eyes, or even the glow (in case of a sylvari) of the user.
My mesmer definitively wants that pistol (my guardian and warrior are getting jealous, he got the jade staff as well)..
+1 to this post.
I want to get Temple of Zephyr backpiece gear but NO ONE ever comes to Orr anymore.Hey Colin, i know in your other post you mentioned how Anet is gonna re-imagine Orr and make rewards more rewarding, make bosses more challenging to fight yadda yadda yadda.
But just in case that does not pan out, can we have variations of the Orr gear purchasable using guild tokens or fractal tokens or dungeon tokens or something?
To OP:
Unless Anet does some kind of living story in Orr, for the time being, you are probably NOT going to be able to get any gear or help at all.
Last I heard it should be coming when the loot revamp comes out in late summer IIRC. Basically what they said was that Orr right now is about how they want it to be, difficulty wise. Orr as it was at first was too easy, with event mobs dying to fast people were even having troubles tagging them. They revamped the difficulty, but there was bug in the scaling system that made events become too hard too fast, which is why people were complaining about unkillable champions in the penn/shelter camps, which is aparently fixed now. So, they now have the difficulty where they want it (or so it seems) but know that the rewards aren’t good enough to entice people to go there, which is what they plan on fixing on the upcoming loot rewards revamp.
If you want to fill all of the achievements, I do agree, some of those are crazy (specially the moa one, IMHO).
If you just want the wings, though, I don’t see it very hard to do. The only one I could say I did grind was the holograms, and I mean grind as in going to kill them if one was nearby when I was playing (I think only two days I actually did grind them after I was done with my dailies, but I usually don’t play more than 1 or 2 hours a day), that and regular playing netted me enough candies and firework to finish their respective achievements as well with a LOT left over (selling the candies, no use for fireworks). That’s 3 achievements done, the fireworks for the helmet, 4, and with the story ones I finished the 8 needed and still didn’t do the piñatas, effigies, moa racing, or any more story achievements they might unlock later (if there’s any).
I’m the other way around, personally I feel that high level characters should be made weaker when in low level areas. My level 80’s (one in all exotics with the odd rare, the other in full exotics/ascendeds), one or two shoots almost everything in the 1-15 level areas, tends to become more normalized the higher level I go, which is why the level 15 bosses (SB, frozen maw and the like) are such a joke now, usually if you’re not already there when their pre-events begin, chances are they’ll be dead before you finish zoning in.
Personally, I feel that no matter how good your gear is, you shouldn’t be THAT much more powerful (or even more powerful at all) than a player of the apropiate level with the best gear for that level, so a level 80 in full exotics-ascendeds shouldn’t be more powerful when downleveled to level 10 than an actual level 10 in level 10 fine (blue) gear (since you can’t get masterwork greens until level 14). After all, a level 80 would already have a huge advantage in having all its traits and skill slots unlocked.
So you want them to revert a core mechanic so you can show off by one-hitting centaurs in Queensdale. Seems legit.
why not ?
and is it ok to let lvl 8 champion to defeat lvl 80 full exotic is that legit ?
I this game, yep, it’s legit, and it’s one of the reasons I like it, actually…

While walking around on the street, a bird flies low above someone nearby, you think “hey, he got mail”…
The developers said the Dragon Ball arena takes place below LA… but is it really below LA? I don’t know..
It’s a posibility. Several maps can be contained in one map, so you can get into them with no loading screen in between. One that pops to mind is the platform where you fight the steam creature boss in the thaumanova reactor (if someone has the key), the platform is actually located high above the reactor but hidden by the cloud cover… and the reason I noticed it was that for some reason the teleporter at the end didn’t work for me (lag spike, maybe?) and I could take a good look as I fell to me death from it..
I remember seeing some screenshots of someone that fell trough the world on the SAB and could see all the different maps including the rooms with the lava you were teleported to when you ran out of lives (there were 5 side by side, one for each player), and I think fractals also work like that, all fractals being in one single big map.
I doubt support will help you from what I’ve read since it’s user error (since it does say “soulbound on acquire”). That said, I do agree completely that it should be account bound (to prevent people just selling them on TP) and souldbound on use, and it’s actually one pet peeve of mine why am I able to buy sets I couldn’t possible use at all. I like being able to see the other sets on the vendor screen so I can preview them to see how it’d look on a different race, but I can’t see what use would it be to allow a light armor class, for example, be able to purchase a soulbound on acquire piece of heavy armor.
anybody have any thoughts?
Aside from changing your gear, which is costly & possibly time consuming, changing your traits will take ~3silver.
Theory crafting a new build will take you some time, but there is nothing you can do to ‘fix’ your build (if you even need to) until the patch notes are officially released.thoughts = just try to relax and breathe until we know what’s really going to happen?
In other games I’ve played, when they do a big skill/traits overhaul, the usually reset everyone’s build (or talent, or whatever is called) for free so you can rebuild as you see fit.
How do you have time to read the book on your phone but not as a hard copy?
I’m in the same situation. Since I already carry my phone everywhere I downloaded the kindle app there and have loaded it with books, and I just read a few mins here and there when in the bathroom at work, while taking a bus, on a line in the bank and places like that. The best thing is, since I do own a kindle and have it at home (best thing for bathroom reading), it automatically synchronizes, so if I’m reading a book on my phone, get home, load the kindle, it’ll take me to the point I was reading in the phone.
Chances are no, the book won’t be available on PDF, AFAIK most ebooks aren’t because they have more control over formatting trough different devices and digital distribution rights.
I’ll vouch for the kindle app, BTW, I use it all the time and works really well. Once you download it (it’s 21 megabytes on my android phone) you can purchase the book trough amazon from your phone or PC and it’ll download automatically to your phone.
How do you think it works? the effigy prefers to burn itself to the ground rather than stay there and see us dance.
The day the community is satisfied is when GW3 comes out…so that the whole vicious cycle can begin anew
When GW3 comes out you’ll see lots of posts talking about how anet destroyed guild wars with it and why can’t it be more like GW2 and stuff like that..
Actually, I’ll write this down somewhere so I can quote it when GW3 comes out..
Basically beneficial conditions applied to yourself and allies. If you’ve played other MMOs, think of it as condition = debuff, boon = buff.
Personally never really felt I had to craft to level in any of my chars. first thing that come into mind is to explore the map a little bit, there may be some level 9 or 10 hears you might have missed, or maybe just some lower level ones you might have missed as well. Remember that zones sometimes don’t progress linearly, there might be multiple areas with renown hearts for a specific level. Also, explore around. Events, POI’s, Vistas, all of them give XP. You can also head to lion’s arch from your main city, take a gate to another city and explore other areas as well.
BTW, checking the list of renown hearts on each area (SPOILER: you can see them here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Renown_heart click on the area you want to see in the sidebar) in all areas there’s at least one heart for every level (sometimes multiple for each level) except for wayfarer’s foothills that’s lacking a level 9 heart (but has two level 8’s)
The first one… we don’t know. I do remember the forums used to have a darkened image next to your profile where some people speculated an avatar might be placed (picked from your own characters, maybe?).
And about the community, for all the negativity you see on forums sometimes, this one is still a LOT better than most other MMO forums I’ve been active on. Heck, you should have seen the Age of Conan one… and by reading the WoW ones (at least few years ago) you’d get the impression that everyone left in disgust and nobody is playing anymore…
Why I think would be a bad idea:
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=173
The other thing I can think of is bandwith, having to download art of every custom guild logo out there. We select from a predetermined list because it’s easier on the bandwith (it’s not the same to download a full image for each guild flag you see, for example, than to just download a number from the list of pre-determined logos).
The one way I see this happening is if it was added as a premium feature on the gem store.
And if anyone knows any good summoning magic so we can get a reply from an employee, that would rock
I’m on it, I’ll need three small sticks and 4 cc of mouse blood or maybe a fresh egg and two small sticks…
I agree with them making them character instead of account bound. For what it’s worth, you can see the mails here:
My biggest problem is that this was a holiday weekend… Who wasn’t spending their weekend with their father? Even Game of Thrones pushed their episode back a few weeks ago because of a holiday so more people could view it because they knew people would be busy….
That’s the advantage of when you become the father..
Copying animation isn’t that easy, it just depends on the underlying bone structure of the rigging (for example, kodan and norn seem to have the same bone structure because when using a kodan tonic and dancing, they do the norn dance), I’m guessing based on the way it moves both wings have different bone structure.
To add a side request.. can we have the option to stop the animation on the wings?. The shattered ones would look perfect on my guardian but the constant flapping is annoying, IMHO, if they were to just stand there, with maybe some secondary movement then moving, I’d definitively use it, as it is it’ll probably sit on my bank when I get them.
No way to get it by now AFAIK.
There was talk about old living world content returning, probably as fractals, but they specified that even if old content returned, the rewards were meant to be exclusive to the living world and they would not be returning.
BTW, if I could in any way, I’d give you mine, it’s gathering dust in my bank since it doesn’t really fit any of my characters.
Its a shame I cant gift/sell mine since I wont be using them (they don’t “fit” with any of my characters)
Same, my asura warrior in training is using the heavy one, but the light and medium are sitting gathering dust in my bank along with the flower and tentacle backpacks and probably soon to be joined by the shattered holographic wings (they’d be perfect for my guardian if only they weren’t flapping all the time).
Sorry about the off-topic, but something that I’ve been wondering lately… how do you keep track of how many coffers you’ve opened? I’ve seen people talking about “I oppened about X coffers”, but in several threads I’ve seen posts like CelebrityX that says exactly how many. Do you keep a counter or something?.
Going back on topic, one thing that I’d like to know is whether the DR is affecting the coffers somehow. I’m saying this because I got a ticket (no minis so far, though) with a guesstimate of between 150 and 200 coffers (based on the fact that I had 73/300 holographic things killed back then and I felt I was getting 3x more coffers from mobs), and well, I wasn’t really farming them back then, just getting them as I played, and opening them as soon as I got them, and I know of at least 3 guildies that got tickets while playing that way as well (granted, it’s a very large guild), while at the same time I keep reading of people buying them off the TP in the thousands and getting nothing after (I guess) opening them all at once. Just wondering a bit.
Why would you buy a single rune anyway?
Divinity runes are the same bonus for each individual runes. Unlike other runes you don’t get better bonuses for each extra rune. So it’s good as a filler rune for extra slots if you don’t care for some of the later rune bonuses. Some people also just can’t afford all 6 at once :p
There’s also the case when you get a new piece of gear and for some reason don’t want to salvage/lose the previous one (maybe the skin doesn’t fit your look anymore but it still looks good) so now you need a single rune to replace that one as well.
something is weird in this game with the loot, i’m sure it’s just the RNG being derpy but for me recently out of all my guildies that i party up with (around 2-4) I always get the extra rare or the extra unidentified dye or in this case the weapon tickets. My first ticket came when me and buddy were doing an event near the shatterer spawn. He had more magic find and we had both opened about 30ish coffers and bam…weapon ticket. Then recently we had been saving the coffers up to sell until I decided to open a couple stacks. Got about 20 into one stack…bam another ticket. Laughed it off and went on playing for a bit, came back an hour or two later and opened 30ish more bam another ticket…friends are now kitten ed. Got on today at lunch and opened around 50 and bam…another ticket. Not to mention this weekend i got some wings off a kitten moa.
It’s not just with this though, it’s almost like everything we do i’m always getting better stuff or more lucky. Salvaging ectos they rarely get multiples and are lucky to get one or two…yet I can pull like 6 from 2 or 3 rares. It’s just strange, you’d think that rng would be in their favor at least some of the time…hell all of them are sitting at more magic find than me lol. I have no idea what’s up with it.
You are the living proof, that something get really strange with their RNG and DR system or maybe other things we don’t know about..
Are you a big gems buyer with real cash ? (just for curiosity)
I wouldn’t say i’m a big gems buyer, i’ve unlocked extra bank slots and bought a couple other things, nothing too extreme. We had a guy in our guild that would get everything a few months back, he hasn’t played very much recently so it’s like the luck has shifted to me or something, he didn’t buy any gems though.
I doubt it has anything to do with gems, just the way RNG works. I got a ticket after opening an estimate of 150 to 200 coffers (guesstimating based on having 73/300 holographic minions dead at the time, not getting coffers from all of them, and feeling that I’ve gotten 3x as many from regular mobs), but no minis, while other people claim to have opened thousands with no tickets but several minis, and I’ve never bought gems with RL at all (though I did buy some with gold to get some transmutation crystals when they were on sale).
Even before getting the ticket, though, while I don’t like RNG with purchased items, I though it was an improvement from the way southsun worked, where I never even saw a box at all (I didn’t wanted the weapons, though, they didn’t fit with any of my characters), here while the chances are still very low, the coffers drop like raindrops.
If they do another RNG round, which I believe they will considering how profitable seems to have been for them, personally I’d rather them keep the way they drop now, but significantly increasing the chance (or make it a sure thing) from the gem store version, or just plainly offer the tickets for sale directly.
Why would u delete a character
Sometimes you find out a char isn’t working for you. Personally I have an engineer that’s level 20 by now, but I’m not really finding it fun to play, so I’m thinking of deleting it and creating maybe an elementalist.
I already have a mesmer and guardian at 80, so I wanted a medium armor profession, but the engineer was the only one I though would be interesting but not really having fun with it for some reason, and don’t really find appealing the other two medium armor professions.
The solution would be to simply let the Ele and Engineer use the secondary weapon slots on the character but disable weapon swap during combat. This way you could swap with one click once you are out of combat. Not much programming needed on ANet’s side for this.
It’s not just an ele and engineer problem, I find it annoying on my guardian as well.
The build I’m using is a hybrid support/DPS thing, so when doing dungeons or heavy group content I usually use greatsword and staff (specially like the staff for events with lots of people on it and lots of mobs to tag like pent/shelter in orr), but for boss events I usually switch the staff for scepter/shield, so I can attack from range (and also in other occasions). When I switch back to staff, usually the shield ends up on a random location on my bags instead of the invisible bag I have for that.
I’d like for the items you equip/unequip to remember their position in your inventory, and if that position is available, for them to return to it on unequip.
Depends on how it’s done. An in game tool has potential to be much better than the website because it can interact with the game better. Things like not showing groups started by people you have blocked, for example, and deleting groups from the listing as they become full.
AFAIK no, there’s no way to exchange them at all. One solution if you want to wear them both is to infuse one and leave the other uninfused (not that big of a loss statswise unless you’re playing high level fractals and need agony resistance), that will make the game treat them as different rings and allow you to wear both.
Just start passing the word that the 20 dragon ball games do not count towards the meta achievement (it was just reduced to from 10 to 8 achievements because of that) and there should be a lot less AFK players in the games.
No bug, the dragon ball achievements don’t count:
Reducing “The Dragon Bash Experience” meta-achievement required total number from 10 down to 8. The Dragon Ball Achievements do not count towards its completion.
from today’s patch notes
Check some guilds you can join and don’t be afraid to ask around. Rude people will be around (so I don’t use a term that will be turned to kitten), but don’t worry about them, if they get too annoying they’re just a block away, and in my experience there are always some very nice and helpful people around.
Also you could try to join a guild, the one I’m in, for example, has WvW slow nights where people are encouraged to join in WvW even if they don’t know the first thing about PvP to show them the ropes, and dungeon events where we pick one dungeon and go on several groups while we’re all together in mumble and explaining the dungeon as we go along (if a group goes faster than others we just wait until the rest catches up) and things like that, and I’ve heard of several guilds that do things like that as well.
I like how dailies change every day, encourages me go to different parts of the world to complete them and try things I may not have tried before.
If they were 5/46, there would honestly be no challenge, there’s always an easy one to try, even if I’d try not to I know I’d end up doing the easiest ones to get them out of the way.
Heck, visit a daily laurel, kill 1 or 2 mobs (which is how long it takes for my condition damage mesmer to complete daily condition applier), craft some some cheap items, eat them if it’s food, salvage or mystic toilet if it’s not, dailies done in under 10 minutes every day.
Need? No. Want? Possibly.
There is nothing you need that is from the gem store.
This. You don’t need the gemstore but you CAN. And i understand that many people don’t mind about skins in the gemstore and that is not a pay to win because they don’t give you more power…but i repeat, this i a SKIN GAME BASED. End game raid gear of wow, rift, tera etc= new skins in GW2. And you can’t find raid gear in rift, wow, etc store. Ye, i can don’t mind about the skins in the gemstore, but i think its not the right way for a game of this type, especially when no permanent new skins obtainable throught the game, like dungeon or wvw, were added since the 28 august.
I do agree that I’d like more permanent content (including skins) to be added to the game, but there are some new skins added after release. There’s the guild weapons set, for example (1 of each weapon, my guardian is using the greatsword, staff and shield from those, plus backpack and back banner), there’s also the fractal weapons (again, 1 of each), some others that were added to the existing bosses (final rest to the shadow behemoth chest), plus several temporary skins are bound to keep coming back from time to time (the seasonal event skins, for example, and maybe the SAB ones as well).
It’s a bug, I’ve had it happen before, but it’s a client side thing, other people didn’t see it, and went away after I closed the client and restarted it.
And TBH I really wish I could have kept it permanently..
I’ve opened maybe under 1000 Dragon Coffers. Bought with gold 300 of them.
*4 mini
*2 ticketsDon’t open them fast or all at once. I’m not sure but DR of lag might affect what drops.
That might be true now that I think of it. I got a ticket (no minis so far, buy a guildie gave me one
) after opening an estimate of between 150 and 200 coffers, but I always open them as soon as I get them, which makes me think it might be the case of people that have bought 1000’s of them at the same time with no luck.
