wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Each daily is worth 1 AP, so if you do all 11, you’ll have 11 APs, just that only 5 count for the daily chest.
From a post on mmorpg.com based on a conversation with Colin:
“the team is also working very kitten finding a way to make it so that every profession has access to every weapon and their own weapon skills for those previously locked weapons. Engineer plus Hammer? Check. Again, there’s no specific timeline for this, but a new progression system is coming.”
Edit: LOL at the kitten…
There’s a post on mmorpg about the new GW2 direction of the game for the second half of 2013, and a few interesting bits of information that aren’t in the anet blog post:
“Whichever (fractal) one gets voted in, the other will very likely never be added to the game. Not only will this content be permanently added and chosen by us, but we’ll also be deciding which one is banished to the potential ether.”
“Colin also hinted that there are plenty of areas on the Tyrian map that are currently inaccessible and they just might have people working on these lands behind the scenes for the long-term content additions of Guild Wars 2. Whether they’ll come in these bi-weekly content updates or as a part of a larger expansion, time will tell. But he was sure to say that yes, the rest of the map is coming.”
“What’s more is that the team is also working very kitten finding a way to make it so that every profession has access to every weapon and their own weapon skills for those previously locked weapons. Engineer plus Hammer? Check. Again, there’s no specific timeline for this, but a new progression system is coming.”
“the mythical LFG tool is coming before the year’s end. It’s in playtesting at the office now, and has a whole bunch of slick functionality to find groups for all kinds of content… without taking away the need to socialize. It won’t just toss you into a group and portal you into content. You’ll join a group, sure enough, but you’ll still have to meet up at Ascalonian Catacombs or whathaveyou. The goal is to expand socialization, and help you find people who want to do what you want to do, and then when you combine this will all the rewards you’ll be able to obtain you should never have a reason to run solo again… unless you want to, which is totally fine by Colin” (I like this a LOT)
My thoughts about it so far:
Living world: nothing new that we didn’t knew already, I like the idea of periodical updates, but I’m a little worried about how good they’re going to be, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. A bit relieved that there are multiple teams working on it, so a team can have several months to work on each update (considering each issue created by a team can take over several biweekly updates to be fully released).
Progression Advancement: Liking what I’m reading on this one. This bit:
“We’ll begin regularly adding new skills and traits to the game for each profession to expand your characters and builds! You will be able to earn these new traits and skills by unlocking them.”
I know it’s a long shot but I hope that means the return of the skill vendor and signet of captures. One thing I loved of guild wars was having to go to outpusts outside of the general progression way in order to be able to buy a skill only an NPC there had available, or to hunt a mini boss that had an elite I wanted, or just see someone use a cool skill and ask where did he get it. I’d really want that back in GW2.
I’m also liking the ideas of the new rewards system, and specially the rewarding of running different dungeons daily, hope it makes other dungeons than CoF1 get more populated and easier to get runs for. Also I like the idea of removing magic find as an armor stat.
Crafting taken to 500, nice thing… new account bound gear exclusive by crafting, loving it, gives an incentive to crafting. One of the things I liked of WoW (yeah, I know comparisons with the W game baaaad) was that if you capped a crafting profession, there was usually one piece of great armor you could craft and was soulbound. You saw a character wearing it, you knew it had capped that particular profesion, I, for one, am glad that we’re getting that in GW2.
Legendary gear and precursors: no real comment, since I’m not interested in one to begin with. The ability to switch stats is a nice bonus, though, a non cosmetic only way to make legendaries more attractive without actually making them more powerful than other gear in game.
Won’t comment much on PvP and WvW as I haven’t really done much of either one, but I like the idea fo more map types.
And last, I hope the LFG tool comes out sooner than later, the website works well, but I’d like to be able to form groups without having to alt-tab (or use the cell phone app) and to be able to join groups directly from the tool without finding that when I try to join a group listed in the website, it’s either already full or decided to stop looking for more and disbanded, and a little dissapointed that they say “investigating ways to limit culling in PvE” instead of just saying that they’ll remove it/make it optional.
Everyone has been helpful so far, thanks!
I need only one more achievement to get the quartz node. Here is what is left for me:
- drinking minigame – you have to complete all the drinking minigame activities in order to play the guy in bazaar who gives you the achievement – correct or incorrect?
- race – getting in the top three would do it. Don’t think that is going to happen I’ve done more than 50 races and haven’t gotten closer than 6th place. Plus, I enjoy the race but if I continue trying this I will hate it and I don’t want to go there.
- jumping puzzles. I’ve done the two easy ones and have been trying for 2 days to do griffinrook run.
Questions:
Is anyone else in this same situation and would like to join a party with me to do the fractal kite? As best I can tell it would be the easiest one to complete of those left in the jp list.
Am I right about the drinking game? Do you have to complete everything to get the achievement?
The drinking game, yep, you have to complete all, since the achievement is to defeat poyaki and he won’t fight you unless you’ve defeated all other ones.
About the jumping puzzles, I found kites of iron very easy to do, just be sure to wait until after the screen stops shaking to jump and as soon as you’re done with that part, run to the kite to get it before fighting the veteran as he can throw you off, and while it took me some time, I also found Kites over Caledon relatively easy to do. If you check dulfy’s video on it it looks intimidating because the jumps are time sensitive, but bear in mind that anytime you activate one of the terminals it also acts as a checkpoint, if you fall (and I did, a LOT) you can talk to the little bot in the beggining and he’ll transport you to the last terminal you activated, and they’re not too far away from each other.

The Radiant Vambraces doesn’t look as good as they should. Why aren’t the whole gauntlet glowing? there’s a part of the gauntlet that’s silver and no glow, doesn’t match the rest of the armour and looks out of place. If they aren’t reworked, i’m pretty screwed for not chosing hellfire.
Because that’s the aesthetic choice? Deal with it until Anet releases a fully-glowing glove piece.
So you think Radiant and Hellfire look equally cool? Radiant look like tier 1.5 ascalon armour and Hellfire 2.0 CoF armour. Radiant need that 0.5 extra to be on par with Hellfire.
No, I don’t think they look equally cool, to me the radiant is really cool looking, at least for guardians, and the metallig looking part is a big part of it charm, at least for heavy armor classes. I’m using mine on both my guardian and my mesmer that uses the long sleeves heritage armor that covers most of it and looks like just glowing gloves.
On the other hand for me the hellfire looks ugly and feels like just another fire based skin, and personally I think the regular CoF armor looks much better and more detailed (plus is dyeable), the only thing that the hellfire does better (again, for me) is the particle animation, but the molten gloves also have particles and also looks better (for me) and is dyeable.
But that’s me, I know several people that love and picked up hellfire and using it on more than one character. I do agree that I’d rather if it was dyeable, and that goes for both, but so far very happy with the gloves, and I’ll keep an eye on more achievements to try to get to 6000 for the shoulders (don’t care about the helm, already have the zephyrite wind one that looks good with the glow color), and would have been nice to have different gloves for different armor classes, even if it wasn’t dyeable at least the metallic part should have been leather looking for medium classes and cloth looking for light ones.
Pffht… amateurs…
Sincerely: the order of whispers..
A quick anecdote here. Back when I was starting in WoW, rather late as it was several years after it was released, there was stitches. It was as close to a dynamic event as we had back then, when you finished a long quest chain at around level 35 (out of 60 that was the cap then), mostly finding some assorted reagents for a sephulcter trying to resurrect his dead wife (IIRC), he gave you a note to deliver to the mayor of a nearby town… the letter said his true intentions.
He used them to create an elite abomination (really big and ugly undead creature, common at higher level but was the first and only time for a while that you encountered one if you were playing alliance) called Stitches, he would spawn on the graveyard and slowly make his way towards the town, with guards going down the road to try to stop it and get killed, and once he reached the town it would be a huge fight among all the guards, other NPCs and players until he was killed or it killed everyone in the town, and until he reached the atmosphere and tension was great guards yelling orders, others running to try to stop or slow it, everyone in town getting ready… or would have been if a random level 60 hadn’t passed by on his way elsewhere when stitches was almost in town and one shot him.
Personally I’m happy that it won’t happen here, that there are no level 80’s one shoting all event mobs, groups events and bosses while I’m leveling, or that I can explore the entire world and still have even if it’s a little bit of challenge and posibility of meaningful rewards instead of just two or three areas where I’m supposed to play once I get to level cap. It’s actually one of the things that attracted me to this game, and I love how it works (though I’d like it to be tweaked as I said in an earlier post).
I doubt Evon’s interest in the past isn’t entirely…religious.
Coming soon, godly weapons, infused with the harvested power of the gods themselves!!!!
(available as a rare drop from rich godly coffers, for sale on any black lion trading company near you)..
That’s how that armor set is, the difference is that you’re looking at it from the side while the armor gallery image is from the front, so you can’t see the neck.
Actually it’s one of my pet peeves with armor, most sets leave the charr’s neck uncovered like that (makes sense in that set, not so much in others that are supposed to be much more armored). Maybe if you changed the helmet for one of the charr cultural ones (that also cover the entire head) you might get what you’re after.

https://soundcloud.com/arenanet/guild-wars-2-pale-tree here..
Credit goes to ElenaDragon, for some reasin the link posted didn’t work for me, though, so I did a search and posted the link it gave me..
I’d vote for it to go the other way around, I’d rather have the deleveling be made even harsher. As it is, if I go with my guardian or mesmer (level 80 exotic/ascended geared) to any level 15 or lower area, they demolish almost anything in two or three attacks, the more they’re deleveled, the more grossly overpowered they feel, which is why the events like the frozen maw are such a joke, unless you happen to be there when the preevents start, and know when to shoot at anything, chances are you’ll miss them because the level 80’s kill them so fast.
Personally, for example, a level 80 in best gear when deleveled to level 15 shouldn’t be that much more powerful than a level 15 in the best gear available for that level (which at that point is blue gear).
Is this supposed to be a good news? No one liked them… and i can assure you that for lev40+ EVERYONE will be skipping these two. So this is just two additional fractals everyone will skip like they skip dredge/shaman/cliffside. GG.
Funny, I see a lot of people screaming about wanting those dungeons back….
like the kind of people who’ve missed these and want to try them now… No one that was doing them/done over 5 runs of each cares.
I ran them both over 5 times. I am very excited to see them return. You don’t speak for everyone so don’t act like your opinion is the be-all end-all of what the community wants.
oh but i’ve spoke to a lot of people about these two when they were available, no one liked them. on this forum im not surprised to see so much positivity about these two mini dungeons because most people here are fanboys who go crazy even if they add something as minor as a ONE new mini pet… Both of these mini dungeons are far from ‘fun’ or great.
My guild did a dungeon event of AR (sadly I wasn’t there to go with them), and they loved it even if some groups couldn’t manage to finish it, and personally I heard lots of good praise from the molten facility (most people I talked about it said that they would like if all dungeons in the game were as good). Actually, the ones I heard that hated them, at least in my experience (of course, yours might differ) were the ones that were farming them constantly to try to get their respective rewards.
I don’t have the quotes handy but I do remember a dev clarifying some things on the forums about it.
IIRC Basically, the way it explained was that it’s account bount, you use the gift of quartz on any character, and then when you enter your home instance with any character (not only the one that used the gift of quatz), the quartz node will be there for you to mine, but once you do mine it, it’ll be depleted when you enter again with any character until the next day.
EDIT: found the actual quote:
Hey there Jabberwock!
I’d like to clarify this for you and everyone else: Once you have unlocked the quartz node, it will unlock the node for all your characters, though the node can only be mined once per day per account.
Additionally, the node will appear in all home instances (again it is the same node so only once per day).
This means you can log onto any character you want, go to any home instance you want, and mine your node.

Anyone knows if anyone is taking notes to publish a transcript of it later?..
Guild armor and weapons a ridiculously cheap compared to this, and this is for a toy kite. “Greed” has nothing to do with it. Compared to other guild-marked stuff, the kite skin is stupidly overpriced.
But the guild armor and weapons aren’t handmade by blind charr artisans with the finest silk and selected fresh canthan bamboo sticks (hey, smuggling them from Cantha isn’t cheap)..
5g less than a cultural T3 head piece for a fully optional fluff customizable guild marked kite… doesn’t sound too bad IMHO…
You can transmute it if you have a human alt that can go buy it for you, I think?
No, cultural armor can’t be used by other races in any way, the models don’t even exist (though human and sylvari would probably be able to share models). Actually there was a bug that was fixed sometime ago that allowed you to see your character naked if you previewed another race’s cultural armor.
I so want Abbadon’s Fall.
Trehearne should help us there, so we can see him and Kormir side-by-side.
and maybe trehearne finally dies
:DTHAT would be satisfying^^
I think i could stomach to see him one last time if it is to see him die. He stole personal story and nice looking sword from me i hope he dies in terrible pains. And i hope there will be achi for dancing on his grave.
He dies and then rises into godhood changing history forever… so now divinity reach is filled with statues to trehearne..
I would argue that simply travelling from the boat up to the airship up top does not qualify as a jumping puzzle. It’s simply travel. With new skills. It’s not hard, it’s not confusing.
That is not entirely fair. I know several players that have a very hard time jumping. One of these players, just cannot get the knack of the new high jump skill. She still hasn’t gotten passed the four jumps to get her to the upper level. She is very frustrated. We are going to portal her up tonight because she has such a hard time with jumping.
So saying that it is not hard, is incorrect. It is not hard for you.
As for it just being travel, that is also not true. You have to use these skills to ‘travel’ throughout the bazaar. So it isn’t simple travel.
I would just suggest that you realize that not all peoples’ skill levels are as good as your own.
I was having troubles with the last jump on those high jumping platforms (I’m assuming it was a bad connection that night since I went trough it with no problems the night before several times on other characters). There’s one trick there, there’s a lightning aspect near some stairs very close to that point (near where the fire spirit shows up). Using that instead of the high jump makes those platforms trivial to go trough.
Some comments on it. Yes, it does require jumping puzzles to complete the meta achievement but IMHO it’s not that bad. For example:
Kites of the Night: The parachute is in the second room, basically starting from scratch you need to do an escort event from a nearby tabern, then get into the forsaken halls, escort inside (which doesn’t even need a fight, you keep enemies at bay with a torch you pick up), then pick up some items to open a door, and a room where you have to do one jump to get to the parachute.
Poor man’s kite… the parachute is very close to the entrance, you don’t even need to do a single jump. There are some mobs there but you could even run in, grab it, and run out.
That’s 2 of them done, then you can do strangers from the sky (see a cutscene), voyage to the bazaar (just take a ship), Ascent to Zephyr Traders (get to the top, I’d say the wind jumps might be tricky, but if you grab the lightning aspect under a nearby stair they become trivial), diverse trader (talk to some merchants near the boat you arrive on) and Kokoochoo the Incredible (just be there when he does his hourly show) and Sanctum Sprint (talk to the sanctum sprint guy) will put you with 8 achievements done.
Like Clockwork can also be done easily, it’s just harvesting quartz from the nodes all over the cliffs, and go to an achievement point in queensdale in 8 different days, parachute pilferer you can do it just by exploring around, so that’s 10 achievements done with barely any jumping at all.
From there you have 3 you can easily do at sanctum sprint (complete 25 races, pick up 500 crystals, and use all pickup items, which you can do at the same time).. and yes, there’s a bit of jumping on sanctum sprint, but for those three achievements it doesn’t matter whether you finish first or last so you can take your time, and most jumps there aren’t really hard in the first place.
So that leaves you only 3 APs where you might actually have to do some jumping (assuming you don’t get lucky at least once on sanctum sprint and finish top 3, in which case only 2 will be left), out of which one is in fractals so you might do it if you do fractals in the first place, another is from the drinking minigame if you prefer that to jumping puzzles… and IMHO, some things, like getting to the googles, are rather easy to do.
That said, I undestand some people will have problem because of latency that they can’t do anything about, and while it is very unfortunate, it’s the inavoidable nature of online games, you’re subject to how good your connection is… and that comes from someone that used to play WoW regularly on the euro servers from the americas (Venezuela) with a less than optimal connection so the minimun latency I had was 400 ms, with 1000+ not that rare in the first place.

I so want Abbadon’s Fall.
Trehearne should help us there, so we can see him and Kormir side-by-side.
Does Abbadon’s Fall refer to the actual GW1 mission, or when Abbadon was defeated and trapped in the first place?
…I dont want to vote in some wackjob charr who invades the skritt on allegations of WMD’s, or who passes “temporary” legislation that will never be undone that allows the Order of Whispers to read my kitten mail.
What makes you think we…eeer.. they don’t read it already?
(BTW, you might want to see a doctor about that skin rash already)…
4200ish as of last night (didn’t check after getting the bazaar meta), playing since release… so it means that tonight will be the last chest I get for a while (sniff).
Advantages of character slots:
- Cheaper if you only one 1 character slot (evens out if you count 5 slots that come with a new game, though)
- No need to log with a different login/password to switch characters
- Shared bank (easier sharing of items between characters)
- New achievements count towards the maximun done (so you get new chests)
- Can use the weapons and armor unlocked already in the achievements and PvP Chests.
Advantages of new copy
- Extra banks space.
- Ability to mail items to other characters (but can’t share account bound items, like skins or dungeon tokens).
Personally I’d go with the character slots.
and we human? well, i’ll stalk some norn than^^
You get some chest showing armor for as well..
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pit_Fighter_Armor
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gladiator_armor

Such options exist (pit fighter, for example).
If anything, and for the sake of equality, I’d like to see some equally top less female armor. But of course “equality” is usually just a word people like to throw around when they need some token to leverage their lacking argument.
There are several topless female armor in the game already…

EDIT: clicking on the link doesn’t work, but copying and pasting them does.
My Elementalist just rolled his eyes and decided to stay Fashionable and wear his Heritage gear…
+1, I’m quite disappointed that they completely ignored the fact that Light, Medium and Heavy all have different appearances and use different materials.
The Hellfire skins are a joke for Light armour wearers, there isn’t a single thing they actually look good with. You can put them with CoF gear dyed red and black but even then the hellfire skins look shockingly out of place -_-
I don’t know, I like how it looks on my mesmer with heritage set (norn male, though, might look different on female).
I wasn’t planning on using it on my mesmer (they look great on my guardian, specially with the wind zephyr helmet), expecting all sorts of clipping between the radiant gloves and the heritage coat’s long sleeves, but so far no clipping that I’ve seen so the metalling parts of the armor are hidden and it just looks like his hands are glowing. Now if I could only dye the glow purple, but I know it’s not gonna happen.
5, 2 of them level 80.
Sylvari guardian, main, first level 80.
Norn mesmer, level 80
Asura warrior, currently level 55, slowly heading its way to 80
Charr engineer, 25ish, found the profession kinda boring so far, so I’m contemplating deletion to make an elementalist, ranger or thief, haven’t played it for a while.
Human Necromancer, level 3, currently living on Rata Sum and working as a bank mule.
just farm it from labyrinthine cliffs ? after the living story the airship will depart. cliffs will stay.
Did the devs say that already?. I had the impression that the whole area would be off limits once the event is over.
Depends on your level.
If you’re, for example, level 10 or 15 and he’s starting, he might catch up to you, the first 20 levels go faster (each level slightly longer than the next one), but from 20 to 80 it takes about the same time for each level, so asuming equal gameplay if there’s a level gap after your friend hits level 20, it’ll remain about the same until you reach 80.
That said, it’s not much of a difference, if he’s on a level 5 area, for example, and you’re level 20 and go play with him, you will be downleveled to level 5. You’ll still have an advantage because you’ll probably have more skills and slots unlocked, but won’t be like other games where you’ll be constantly 1 shoting things that kill him.
He doesn’t mean the books, he means like this:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/community-news/short-story-the-trek-of-the-zephyrites/
There have been small stories like these in all the living story issues so far, and while I really like them I’d like them to be available in game as well, even if it’s just your character finding a book and reading the story there. This last one, for example, could have been a mail from a contact at the durmand priory talking about a certain document you might find interesting (with the obligatory “show me where” link).
As far as the books go, at least the story of the first two ones is in the game, in a VERY condensed form, in the different bits of personal story and in the dungeons story mode.
While I do believe the story could be improved a little bit (The Secret World spoiled me in that sense), I do think they’re good enough and the world does seem alive. And also, it’s what I think would happen if the situation was real.
The big baddie are the elder dragons, but in reality only one of the dragons, Zaithan, was a real and present threat, and by the time the living story starts he’s supposed to be dead.
Primordius is underground, hasn’t been heard of since he awoke except for the localized destroyer incursions (probably thanks to the dwarves still fighting him in the depths of tyria), Jormag is up north and the Norn have settled into their new home, Kralkatorrik is to the east but hasn’t been heard of since he awoke, his influence is mostly contained within a small area, and bubbles, well, we don’t even know its name.
The way I see it, it makes sense that when there was a war that actually reached the main city in the land, everyone banded together to defeat that evil… and once it was taken care of, people start focusing on smaller things, like in this case festivals, trade agreements and thigns like that.
Personally, as I haven’t finished the crystal grabbign achievement yet, I use that time to go back the track picking up more ctystals..
Did you check the map?? Everytime I’ve had to stand there more than a minute, it was because there were other people still falling off the track and only halfway done.
A better idea at that point would just be to Ladder-Split it. Send everyone who finished in the first 5 minutes to a matchup with others who did the same, Tourney style. Then leave the Beer Leaguers to limp their way there in the 8-10 minutes it usually takes them… (might end all the whining about the First-Place achievement too)
Not to mention that usually when you start the first sprint, the game joins you to a game already in progress, so if the timer is still going it’s probably because one or more players started the race as you’re finishing it.
Awww, really? I can’t ever go for both? That kind of makes me sad. Oh well – guess I need to think harder about the decision when it comes around for me.
We don’t know that, all we know is that we get a choice of which one to pick up at 3000, 6000 and 9000 AP, maybe if you pick one set you’ll be able to pick the other one at 12000, 15000 and 18000, or maybe it’ll be a different one. We’ll just have to wait and see.
They said it will probably be back before april. Also there’s this tweet from june 10th:
Lord Vanquish ?@Lord_Vanquish
What is that racket?! Just when I get some peace and quite, Moto decides to build more World!
https://twitter.com/Lord_Vanquish/status/344187954924773376
Spoiled rotten brats these days. You people wouldn’t survive a day in the MMO’s of old, like Everquest.
snicker oh send them back further. Back to original NES with pac-man and bubble bobble. If they bought it and didn’t like it, their only option was to go spend more money on a different game. Stores didn’t buy games back, and you sure as heck didn’t have any say in what you “actually” got.
In my experience that’s normal for all MMO official forum communities. If you go by them, all MMO games suck, all games are dying all the time, all devs are clueless idiots, and every player would know better what to do with the game, no matter how positive the reaction might be elsewhere. The only exceptions I’ve seen are usually for lower profile and lower population games, like The Secret World.
And actually, I have to say that in comparison, these forums aren’t that bad… you should have seen the Age of Conan forums shortly after release (shudders).
Just because people act like that on forums doens’t make it right. It doesn’t make it ok, and it kitten well shouldn’t be considered acceptable behavior. However, nothing will change if nothing is even attempted to curtail it.
I agree, but until a way to whack people with a wet trout for real trough the internet is created, anonimity and an audience will conspire together to keep forums the way they are. All we can do to try to keep doing constructive responses and discussions so that the signal of noise to ratio decreases at least a little bit..
.
The most “thievly” looking dagger, IMHO, is the whisper’s secret dagger. It even folds when you put it away, so it would be easier for a thief to hide it..
http://dulfy.net/2013/03/11/gw2-dagger-gallery/#55
There are a several daggers that IMHO are perfect for thieves with dark motiff around them, but that said, I do agree (as I’ll always do) with wanting more designs..
I’m not sure that the majority is complaining. I’ve seen no one in game say anything but positive stuff about the rewards. Granted, my server is TC so the community there is pretty mellow.
I was speaking in regards to the forum community, and it does feel like a good chunk of them are whining about one thing or another. If not the rng, its the content. If its not the content, its the skins, or the freebies. It goes on and on and on. Self-centered, narcissistic…clears throat, I’ll simply stop there, it’s impolite and immature of me to label people/call names. However, I will state that this attitude seems to be a growing plague among the forum community and should be addressed by the moderators, and simply asking/reminding people to be polite doesn’t seem to be working.
In regards to the community in the game itself; yes, in pve is does seem to be much healthier/polite/positive. I’ve heard a few state that they personally didn’t care for the skins, but they liked what Anet was going for at least.
In my experience that’s normal for all MMO official forum communities. If you go by them, all MMO games suck, all games are dying all the time, all devs are clueless idiots, and every player would know better what to do with the game, no matter how positive the reaction might be elsewhere. After much rage (and 62 attempts at Spekks Lab!) I got all the kites at last.
A question though, can someone play another’s game via Remote Desktop? I am guessing however that the game would run very very badly.
As you said, the game would run very badly if it was doable at all. It would first add heavy control lag to the server lag which would make any precise movements very hard to do, but also the remote computer display would need to update about every frame which would tax the bandwith of both computers, as remote desktop is usually designed for mostly still displays with smaller areas of movement (mouse).
And I say if it was doable at all in the first place, GPU cards work by using overlays, which means that basically the OS draws a black space where the 3D accelerated images are going to appear, and then sends the pertinent graphical information to the GPU, which then draws the 3D content on top of that black space before sending it to the monitor. Since remote desktop works on the OS level, on the remote computer you’d only see a black area where the game should be (actually I tried it with RealVNC on my home network) unless you disabled all 3D acceleration on the GPU level, which would make the game run very badly, if at all.
Radiant, though not sure yet if I’m going to use it, I’ll see when I get it. I already got the zephyrite wind helm for my guardian (with silver/antique copper colors for his armor), so they fit his design, while I’m not really a fan of the flame armor style. I really want the pauldrons, though, but still 2000 AP to go to get them.
According to the wiki, it’s a once time deal!

Yeah, I saw that, which made me wonder what will come after 10’000 AP.
boots at 12k, pants at 15k and a chest plate at 18k.
Just guessing, but that guess seems to be consistent with what is up to that point.
Or maybe you get the same weapon choices again so if you picked up radiant you can start getting hellfires ones.
Name one other company that has “hundreds of skins” in their game for armor choices.
Any decent game, where the developer releases modding tools, gets hundreds and hundreds of skins all for free!
The modding community makes them, and many modders are far better at armour/weapons design than the fugly crap Anet’s so-called professionals have come up with since game launch.
Go to any mod hosting site and see for yourself ..
Name one MMO that has done that?. It’s easy to do for single player games, but it’s just something that MMOs with centralized servers can’t do by design.
As for random res, one I do remember recently is fighting a centaur veteran on my low level asura warrior at the end of an event chain in harathi hinterlands. I had managed to solo my way there, and had killed most centaurs around before the big fight except for the ones that were with the veteran, but the fight had taken too long and had gotten him to a little over half HP when the centairs started respawning, and eventually I went down with only the veteran still alive.
Since it was the only enemy around I couldn’t kill him fast enough to actually rally, and foolishly I hadn’t taken any nearby WP on my way trough the event chain, so I was saying that was it… when out of nowhere a mesmer, guardian and ranger show up, the mesmer pops illusions and starts ressing me while the others distracter the bad guy, I go up and we team up to finish the event and kill all centaurs around..
It wasn’t much, but it felt really epic at the time..
That’s the same for all the cultural armors. You don’t get them for the stats (which are only rare) but for the looks, then you use transmutation crystals to apply them to the gear you want. I’d rather if they sold them as skins instead of gear, though.
Something more like…?
Maybe more like this one..
Fantasy, as well as sci-fi, has been used several times as a framework to tell stories about real life situations and experiences.
The discworld series, for example, is high fantasy comedy, and the books have dealt with insurance companies, mail systems, free press, banking, religion, politics and so on. A Song of Ice and Fire (AKA Game of Thrones) is fantasy, yet you have politics, religion, trade and all sorts of stuff on it. The Black Company series of books are also set in a fantasy book, but the style and stories would feel right at home in a gritty war novel, just to name a few. And well, if you go to the basis, The Phantom Menace (I know, not the best example, but since star wars is considered a mix of sci-fi and fantasy) is all about a trade dispute.
Where are people getting the idea of lower waypoints?
Basically some people datamined text from the DAT file that might be from the next update, some of the text mentioned the election and the promises of both candidates. The text said that basically Evon promised reduced prices on the BL keys and the use of the fractals technology to further investigate the motives behind the molten alliance (the molten facility dungeon), while Kiel was promising the reducing of the WP travel prices and the use of the fractals technology to gain further insight into the aetherblade pirates (aetherblade retreat). Also one of the items they found there was a vote coin that presumably will be used to cast your vote.
Of course, as a dev mentioned, just because it’s on the data files isn’t proof that it’ll be like that, it might be older content that either wasn’t developed further, or that has changed dramatically since it was written, but so far datamined contents have been mostly accurate.
That said, VOTE FOR KIEL!!!
Buying all the temple karma armor from the first temple I found open on my guardian instead of actually buying the stats I wanted.
Purchasing gems with gold thinking price was going to go up because of new items in gem store, prices went down next day and have remained mostly stable since then.
