Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
The article says: “When you unlock a dye after the feature pack is released, all characters on your account will have unlimited access to that color.”
Didn’t see anything on: "already existing dyes on one character will be account bound.
And just a few lines down from that they clearly states that if you have the same dye on several characters you will get an unidentified dye for each of those.
Which suggests that all dyes currently own on all characters will be put in a account-bound pool.
That’s what most of us were expecting; unlimited free swaps after purchase and/or transmutation. ANet gets their sales and we get true cosmetic progression. Doesn’t look very promising so far, but I’ll reserve judgement until the 15th.
Was it?
I can only speak for myself of course, but I never assumed that they would remove a massive source of revenue and simply give it away for free without something replacing said revenue.
But I suppose that might just be me.
Clearly the people that actually work on those kind of things disagree though:
Because it is not ready.
Simple as that.
It is quite possible we might hear something about it with the Mar 27Account-Bound blogpost though.
Unless you have an army of them, and wanted to unlock all dyes for all chars, the lowered demand will not be enough to cover the massive drop in supply. There may be a few people that will come ahead on this, but for almost every new player, this is a definite change for the worse.
Unless there are some changes to supply we haven’t heard about yet, of course (personally i doubt they wouldn’t mention them if there were any beneficial ones).
Keep in mind that there will be a rather big influx of new unidentified dyes at the day of the patch, due to all duplicate dyes turning into unidentified dyes.
There will also be quite a bit of them sold on the TP due to crafters and so on. And to be fair, dye drops in the open world is most likely not the biggest supply of them currently anyway, seeing how they drop quite rarely.
The regular version got turned into the Heroic version. Sort of like a Game of the Year edition.
The regular one no longer exists, but the price should be the same as the regular one would have been.
Did you play back before they introduced paid transfers?
But how will it be more common?
No one will be able to see that you have it on more than one character at a time anyway. The amount visible in the game at one time will be exactly the same as before.
How would they be more common when you still need to own them in the first place in order to use them?
You can only play on one character at a time anyway.
Actually, for anyone that will try to get dyes after the patch, the system (from the info we got so far) looks to be way worse than the current one.
That would depend on if you have many alts or not.
Someone with many alts will most likely benefit more from the new system, seeing as they only need to unlock it once, rather than once per character. And you will still be fully able to buy specific dyes on the TP.
What I claimed however was that it will be superior to the account-bound system we saw before release.
The one that required you to find seeds, plant, wait for 24h and hope for the best.
The reason being something like “We thought it was better that way”.
No the reason was that they wanted another avenue of character progression.
But seeing as they are adding more character progression now, they no longer need to have dyes as character progression, thus they can change it to a account-bound system (which is superior to the first account-bound system they talked about before release).
Wow, account bound dyes are REALLY EXCITING, I sure love it when broken promises are finally made up for well over a year later!
Better late than never I suppose, and I will give ANet a miniscule amount of credit for making transmutation stones actually worth anything with the 3:1 conversion, but it should’ve been like that a long time ago; again, better late than never though.
“Broken promise”?
Seriously?
There was one point MONTHS before release where they talked about account-bound dyes (in a system that was MUCH worse than the current one) but that was changed months BEFORE release, and quite clearly told. Including the reasons for it.
I can think of another reason.
Balance.
I’m glad they’ve decided to add a semi-wardrobe to the game. It’s not a real wardrobe since you still need transmutation items. Ideally, once you unlock a gear piece, you’d be able to apply that anyway you like, on whoever you like, whenever you like – infinitely. Still, for a game whose appearance system has thus far been in the Dark Ages compared with most other MMOs, this is at least a little something.
It still doesn’t seem to solve the ridiculous limiting of the town clothes system unless I’ve missed something, we still can’t switch up town clothes looks to armor and back again.
And what source of revenue would you add to the game in order to make up for the revenue lost without transmutation?
Hmm… I do have about 70 unused Laurels…
Well to be fair they will only be skins, while your two Legendaries will have Ascended level stats AND the ability to switch stats out of combat, so your real Legendaries will still be superior to the copies.
The transmutations charges is for using the skins in the new wardrobe.
Well to be fair it was extremely unlikely that they would remove a source of revenue without adding another source. They need to keep making money after all.
Very nice changes.
Quite nice that you can basically get Legendary looks on all characters without making multiple versions of said legendary as well.
Looks very nice overall.
I love that thought, Konig. “Ellen Kiel takes over Tyria!” That sounds epic. XD
I am rather sure Konig referred to Caudecus with that line actually ^^
Which seems like a much more logical thread (C have been trying to overthrow Jennah since release).

Yep.
That is usually how it works.
Patch hits week 1.
Week 2 we get update in Gemstore.
Week 3 we get Patch
Week 4 we get update in Gemstore.
And so on.
I seems to recall them confirming that SAB will actually be permanent, back when all the worlds are completed.
Bringing it back every month AND adding more stuff to it everytime is most likely not possible, since that would most likely take too much resources from the “real” updates.
I would say Gems.
Gems seems to keep going up in price, so it is quite likely that the price is even higher in a few months.
They haven’t, I just lost all hope in living story. I doubt good new permanent content will ever come without an expansion.
So content will magically be completely different just because they give it the title expansion and slap a price-tag on it?
Unimportant in the context of the other dragons, they have all had a profound effect on the world, all except for Bubbles obviously.
It is fully possible that Mordremoth have had rather major effects of the world as well. We just don’t know it yet.
And its awakening will very likely effect quite a bit as well.
Indeed.
It was changed on Friday though, so not something that they decided to change today ^^
Only an expansion would do Palawa justice, the Living Story would not be adequate enough to tell that story in a way that players would want.
Jungle Dragon is fine, it is a lesser know unimportant dragon I see it as the perfect Living Story filler. I would rather we get such a dragon in the living story rather than ruining good stories with the restrictive development time the Living Story requires. For example good things like the Crystal Desert, Palawa Joko, Dominion of the Winds and Mursaat, should be kept on the back burner for now, till we start getting expansions.
“A lesser known unimportant dragon”?
It is just as much of an Elder Dragon as Zhaitan, Kralkatorrik, Jormag and Primordus. There have been hints in the game since release about SIX Elder Dragons.
Until the awakening of Mordremoth we only knew about five of them. So clearly it is important enough to be counted among the other EDs.
And how do you suggest we get past Kralkatorrik in order to get to the Crystal Desert?
I think we would fight Abaddon, it would be probably a remake of the fight from GW1.
I actually really wanted Abaddon as a fractal. The fight from GW1 was the most anticlimatic thing I’ve experienced in that game. Abaddon was built up to be this really powerful god who’s been pulling the strings all this time, and when you fight him….. he’s a giant wuss and all you do is kill trashmobs. I wanted that fight redone.
No.
They confirmed several times that it would be his first fall. Not his “death”.
What we saw in Nightfall was his “death”. The fall takes place many years before that.
A change is not necessarily a mistake just because you disagree with it.
ArenaNet do have the actual numbers after all, so they are most likely quite a bit more qualified to balance the game than most people on the forums.
The fact that players voted for some nonsense science mumbo jumbo over getting to see a being like abaddon (and probably other dieties in the game) and his fall is beyond me. How could ANYBODY want the first over that?
Cheaper waypoints.

^ It has more to do with the fact that if they bring them back, they are kitten over people that threw away the items after the merchants went away, due to knowing that they would not comeback.
This, why does it have to be such a closely guarded secret, either yes it will be out for the start of season 2 or no it won’t be out for the start of season 2. Its really that simple.
Because if they say one thing and some issue turns up that will not allow it to be released by then people will rage like mad.
A bit like how people raged like mad when it wasn’t released with EotM (and that wasn’t even confirmed to be the planned release date).
They won’t help you, seeing as you basically give access of your account away, and thus are no longer viable for help against “hackings”.
They do rollbacks IF you were hacked and lost stuff. You were not hacked, thus you won’t get a rollback, simple as that.
They can’t really rollback every account because they claim that their sister, father, wife or dog deleted stuff from it. Those people shouldn’t have access to the account in the first place.
I simply think that we wouldn’t have had Scarlet in that Fractal.
She was in the Thaumanova one because she was actually there.
She was not at the Fall of Abaddon.
What is high level balance change?
High importance? or for high character levels? I had forgotten about that detail on slides, but now you really confused me.
A basic rundown of some highlights more or less.
It quite clearly stated HIGH LEVEL preview of balance changes in the stream.
Which would imply that it is NOT the full patch-notes, but rather some parts of it for each class.

And what about celestial ? MF dissapeared and critital take a lot harder hit than on zerker gear…
And it will get a +6% increase of all other stats to compensate.
That is more than enough.
Its 100% that dyes will become account bound and only obtainable via crafting or gem store.
Anet are sync’ing together NA/EU & China. All the changes needed to NA/EU are being made via the 15.4.14 features patch.
I would love to see an actual confirmation on that, because I must have missed all those changes from the Chinese version coming here.
Yes, but that is an issue with SCALING not lvl 80. What I said was they shouldn’t take lvl 80 characters into account when working on low-leveled zones, since that will simply make them too hard for non-lvl 80 characters, which the zones were made for in the first place.
Scaling IS an issue right now.
But changing the power of lower level characters but not the power of mobs in said areas in favor of high level characters is not really the way to go.
Doesn’t this end up making the lv1-30 zones even easier for lv80 characters?
Quite likely, unless they tweak the downscaling a bit.
But then again, lvl 1-30 zones shouldn’t really have to take lvl 80 characters into consideration anyway.
Dungeons are locked in time.
Never assume datamined information is 100% true or will end up in the game.
Just look at the ending of Season 1 Living Story.
It is completely different from the datamined version.
Ah, I remember back in the days when MMOs got updates once every third month or something like that at most. And that was when people paid monthly for them. And yet people didn’t really complain about the lack of updates.
They have to.
Otherwise, max level characters will steamroll and ruin the event for everyone.
And if they do people that are on the actual level of the events will be unable to do them.
I have yet to see max level characters being able to steamroll Shadow Behemoth or the Shatterer.
To be fair they can’t really balance low-level stuff around max-leveled and max-geared characters.

So basically what people want is cluttering the whole map up with NPCs that trades stuff that are no longer obtainable?
Because that is basically what would need to happen. They would need to be permanent, or else someone might miss turning them in.
given that or face ridiculous unlock requirements such as
RNG trait book drop from arah p4 end boss 0.0002% chance
or 100g from trainer i know what most people will go for
To be fair it does sound like it won’t be drops as such but rather something gained for doing a specific thing. Not a chance to gain something for doing something specific.
