for those of you who don’t recall dyes were originally going to be account bound and after they added a certain monetization manager to the team they became character bound(so they can sell more dyes), they also told the people literally begging them in Beta before the game had launched to keep it account wide that this was the plan for character progression, to make them more individual and that they would not be account wide.
id really like to see what their justification is this time, because clearly it cant be player feedback, as they paid no attention when they got it before the game launched.
what is wrong with the devs that they cant plan long term, we keep seeing systems changes again and again complete 180s while they trot out “we are learning and listening to your feedback” like its some kind of talisman that protects them from looking incompetent.
Oh, you mean that change that was made about 6 months after said certain manager was hired? So clearly said manager didn’t do anything at all the first 6 months then?
They were account-bound in some of the betas. And they were arguable WORSE than the current system.
It was basically:
Find a seed.
Plant a seed.
Wait 24 hours.
Get a dye.
And funnily enough I remember from beta people that “begged them” to change that as well. So clearly they did listen to the players. And in retrospect I would say the current system is quite superior to the early one.
Things change. The market change. New technology and ideas turn up.
The system being talked about for the Chinese version is not even close to the system we had over here originally, so clearly they have done some major changes which might very well end up being better than both the first and the second version of our game.
Keep in mind however that many of the “stealth” changes are made due to exploits and such, and thus they will not discuss it.
They are controlled and owned by the Arcane Council – the asura government.
Kiel negotiated with them lore wise to reduce the costs.
I wonder if she negotiated in the same way as she did with the Fractal…
Oh right, Kalavier, you just remind me of something.
ASURA GATE ANYONE?
I simply can’t belive that PACT is unable to set up a temporary asura gate on the filed if they need to recall the units to Fort Trinity in case of sudden attack on that said fort.
And let’s not forget that ALL of the orders keeps have asura gate that are conected to Fort Trinity, even if they can’t send out their Airships they still can send out the troops.
You mean and use those Asura Gates in Lion’s Arch that was destroyed within seconds of the first airships showing up during the attack?
In lore Asura Gates are quite a bit more complex than shown in the game. It requires people (specifically Asura) on each end of the gate, setting complex settings and so on.
And it can’t really be opened unlimited either and thus sending an army like that wouldn’t really work.
Especially not if everything was over in a day or two.
That didn’t stop the orders in going into LA and clearing out the Risen.
You mean those Risen that was specifically part of one of the Elder Dragons armies?
And thus indirectly the Elder Dragon itself.
And thus well with in the purpose of the orders objectives.
A key word here is WANT. Which would suggest that they haven’t quite figured out how (or even if) they are able to add it into our version of the game in a good way without kitten off too many people.
So it was basically people overreacting and shouting about how ArenaNet is destroying the game and how much the Chinese version will suck, as usual?

So, they add it back for a day or two, then we will see people that complain about missing those extra days as well and so on.
And in the end we will end up with everything needing to stay in forever, because otherwise “someone might miss it”.

Just because something is similar to the real world doesn’t mean it is identical.
The fact that they allow friendship between different races for one would be a rather big difference from the real world during that period and so on.
The people in Tyria is basically not as narrow-minded and silly as the Earth counterpart.

Just because Zhaitan was defeated doesnt nessasarily mean that he was killed. We won and severely weakened him to the point that he is no longer a major threat. Obviously he still has some influence since his minions still roam oar, which shows that he isn’t actually dead even in current time. The members of DA could possibly be busy just cleaning up so to speak, making sure that Zhaitan stays dormant. I mean really do any of you think that these dragons can actually be killed given the entire history and lore of the dragons in this game? They always come back eventually no matter what.
There is nothing that proves (or even suggests) that a Dragons minions dies when an Elder Dragon does though.
They lose a bit of coordination and such surely, but they still exists.

There is actually a NPC in Lion’s Arch explaining all this.
He basically says: “Since Scarlet had nothing to do with Dragons, it was of no interest to the Pact, since the Pact is specifically for hunting the Dragons. And we now sent some people when it was made clear that Scarlet did indeed had ties to a Dragon, thus we are here now”.
And it doesn’t have to be all gore, blood and splatter to create issues with the rating either

Yep, Zhaitan was defeated in 1325 AE
Scarlet’s minions started turning up in 1326 AE.
The defeat of Scarlet (and current day) is 1327 AE.
So basically two years after the defeat of Zhaitan.
EDIT: It was later clarified that it does not take place at the same time (in that very thread)
What Regina means is that for players who are currently going through their Personal Story, the LW timeline will seem to be happening at the same time. Technically, they happen at different times in Tyrian history. Personal Story predates the current Living World season by approximately one year.
So when you’re playing your Personal Story and are in an instance with Rytlock, etc. the assumption is that this is happening “in the past” whereas LW events are happening now.
Our hope is to provide better distinction of these timelines within the game, but that would come with the release of a planned feature that we’re not ready to discuss in depth just yet.

The characters heard the roar though, and they are not stupid and thus can draw the conclusion (which they basically did in the latest release).
I am quite sure that Underworlds WvW is technically already dead. And have been for months.
I don’t understand why we would go after Mordremoth straight away.
Because it woke up more or less in the backyard of two of the Major races capitals and it got supercharged from the Ley-line?
The problem is age rating.
They are stuck behind rather strict guidelines as to what they can put in the game due to those.
There is nothing whatsoever that suggests we will see more patches between Maintenance patch tomorrow and Feature Patch though.
Hotfixes? Quite possibly, but updates? Quite unlikely.
On the other hand we HAVE seen multiple hints that the Feature Patch is coming within a month or so, which would suggest it not really being much time for other patches.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
There will be a small epilogue to the first season of the living story, and the removal of glory from PvP.
That is basically all there is. We have been told multiple times that it will be a very small update, rather than a big one.
After that we will most likely not see any updates for a few weeks, until the Feature Update comes, and after that we will probably go a couple of more weeks until the release of Living Story Season 2.
Every single game – every last one of them – is competing with Guild Wars 2.
Not directly.
try to wrap your head around this, it takes an uncountable amount of heat and air power to lift that drill.
better yet, that thing is enormous and they didn’t even see it coming……WTF?
they see little crabs coming miles away but a huge drill bigger then any transportation or building in existence is to small to see?
We know Scarlet could use portals.
So technically she might just have teleported it in just above LA.
Or simply flown over the clouds and thus been “invisible”.
Or why not simply use an illusion to hide it? Which she has done before.
This would most likely suggest that your account was compromised as early as February 2013, and thus why they rolled it back that far.
As far as I have understood it, they always roll-back to the point before the account was suspected to have been compromised (by ArenaNets logs, such as a weird IP or something like that) the first time.
To be fair the airships probably require some sort of fuel. Which would suggest that they couldn’t really have Airships constantly patrolling the skies over Lion’s Arch. They had no idea when (or even if) an attack would come after all.
And it is quite likely that most of the airships were still around Orr defending against the champions of Zhaitan.
This is just in: Canach is Caithe’s brother!
To be fair Canach IS Caithe’s brother.
Just like how every other Sylvari is their siblings.
No, they do not ban on the spot. They investigate first. Especially considering it is more or less impossible to see on the spot if someone is actually botting without following them around for quite some time.
I keep wonder why people bring up EverQuest Next as coming this year, seeing as no release date has ever been announced (nor implied) and as far as we know they have not even entered Alpha yet (and definitely not beta). EverQuest Next being released this year is about as likely as The Winds of Winter being released this years.
As for the other two, both of them have subscriptions, and is built completely different than GW2 so I wouldn’t say they were even direct competitors.
Funnily enough in GW1 people didn’t really like the random mini-system either.
Because it was basically: Either you get unlucky and get a completely worthless Mini (or one you already have) or if you are superlucky you get one that is more or less invaluable and could get enough money/ectos/whatever to get more or less whatever you want in the game.
Now everyone gets the same thing, rather than hoping that the RNG (that people love to complain about) will give them something good.

And then go to the left for 4 more chapters.
It was posted on the official twitter and facebook as well.
That thing is Mordremoth, one of the Elder Dragons.
So it is likely that we will start to work towards destroying it.
We will probably get a bit more information in the patch tomorrow.
Might be true.
They should be leaving quite soon though. So that might simply be the case. They are alerting us that they will no longer be available in a couple of hours.
Almost every set available in sPvP is also obtainable somewhere in PvE.
They will however change how those things work in the future, and allow people to transfer skins directly from PvP to PvE, no information on how it will work yet though.
I would assume that they keep the same price seeing as they are no longer available.
It is the same as with the other items that can’t be obtained outside of sales.
1: It is much harder to make stuff in-game.
2: I think they are able to bypass the rating if they do it out of game, which makes it possible to have more “mature” content in those stories.

Except it doesn’t. This achievement requires 149 people you don’t know to basically not be stupid/afk/trolly. World events are bad, especially with server imbalances this game has atm..
No it doesn’t.
The time I managed to do it we had several free spots on all three knights.
People should keep in mind that the cost in gold is never considered (nor should it) when they price something in the gem-store.
Thus discussing the price for using gold to get it is quite pointless.
It is a premium service, it have a premium service price.
Simple as that.
We could compare it to other MMOs and their prices for changing the name of a character:
WoW (which also have a required sub of €12.99 per month) €8.00
LotRO: €10.00
GW2: €10.00 (which partially or fully can be obtained in-game).
That does of course depend on how much of it will actually change for WvW.
Another thing to keep in mind was the fact that people weren’t really that happy about having no changes during the first season of WvW.
So they should basically never ever change anything whatsoever after the release of the game?
Older players still have all those things from the “good old day” and unless they stop playing they will always be ahead of new players.
The feature update will either land on the 18th, or not till after WvW season 2.
It will not drop on the 18th, they have made this clear multiple times.
There is also nothing that would stop them from adding it during WvW Tournament.
And at this time it looks much more likely that it will drop around April 15th than May/June.
Yes, and you suddenly leaving a party during a match-up ruins the game much more.
They can CHOOSE to play without you, but if I play and you suddenly disconnect from the game I can’t choose to not play 4v5, I am FORCED to do it.
And how would they be able to make a difference between someone disconnecting and someone just inactivating their internet when losing?
If you don’t have a stable connection/power/whatever it might be a good idea to not join ranked matches until it is solved. Since it does hurt everyone in a game when there is a 4v5 match.
To be fair it is supposed to be a MMO. Making every single Achievement available by solo-play would be quite silly.
And why do people think they don’t give more information than this?
I’ll explain it to you.
IF they give more information, and they decide to change/scrap something due to it not working well enough, there will be a massive kittenstorm about how they lied and so on. Just like every single other time anything have been said and changed for some reason.
The community have no-one to blame but themselves for this situation.
One thing to note is the fact that if they don’t earn any money from the gem-store (or too little money) NCSoft might decide that GW2 is no longer worth investing in, and thus closing it down.
So buying from the gemstore is very much supporting the devs.
Mursaat is one of the Elder Races, I would think they predated Asura, or at least Rata Sum
The reason Asurans and Skritt are now living above the surface of Tyria is due to Primordus being (wait for it) a direct threat to both races (Asurans being a major race.) Also note Primordus has minions throughout majority of the Tyrian continent.
The reasons Norn have migrated to the Southern Shiverpeaks and founded Hoelbrak, and also the reason other races have come in contact with the Kodan is due to (wait for it) Jormag directly putting pressure on these races, and is even turning every day norn males into Svanir, which even live inside of Hoelbrak.
Oh and on top of all this? The Charr were pursuing Ebonhawke on the daily before (wait for IT) Kralkatorrik came through and decimated most of the region near Ascalon. They are now fighting Branded on the daily due to this. If you read the "Edge of Destiny"book you will also note an attack on Ebonhawke by the Branded that was almost lost, but was saved on the brink of destruction.
Also note that Quaggan, Krait, Largos, and even the Karka have become a present force due to an underwater Dragon putting pressure on their underwater homes.
So give me a break dude. This was pure publicity to create hype and stir up players due to the release of a “New Dragon” which was already fairly confirmed to begin with.
Just because the other dragons were not a “direct threat” to Lions Arch, they still all have been prevelant in Tyria, just not as much as Zhaitan.
I’m happy about Mordremoth being awakened, but for the past year we built up something that could had been released in half the time.
I should have been clearer.
They are not a direct threat to the major races RIGHT NOW. (Which I am also quite sure that I have stated multiple times in this very thread).
Where is the current ongoing attacks on the Human, Charr, Sylvari, Asura and Norn capitals from Jormag, Kralkatorrik, Primordus and Bubbles?
You are also confusing waking up as actual planned attacks, which is not really the case.
Zhaitan didn’t really attack Lion’s Arch when it woke up and by doing that sent a massive tidal wave that wiped out LA. Same as Kralkatorrik not attacking the Charr when it flew over Ascalon and branded it.
It was responsible for it, but it didn’t do it on purpose, and its forces aren’t really actively trying to push into the Black Citadel.
I have never claimed that they were not prevelant, I have claimed that they are not direct threats, and as such suddenly attacking them would seem quite silly from a story point of view. But by instead awakening a Dragon in the backyard of several races (which WILL make it an immediate threat) it does makes much more sense for a continuation of the main story.
But that is not really the case though.
There were 3 or 4 different tries to organize the community (and especially the WvW part) on UW, and every single time these tries failed, due to more or less the exact same thing, so clearly there is some sort of issues there.
Nope. Elona: Beyond, the ranger rework, smiting prayers rework, and Paragon rework will all go unfulfilled. Which is a shame because we were told GW1 wouldn’t be abandoned, but, here we are.
No.
What they said was that GW1 will not be shut down.
Nothing more, nothing less. And that is exactly what they are doing now.
They put it in automation mode simply so that they could keep it up with as little costs as possible, and thus keeping it up as long as possible.
Good luck on recruiting.
A word of advice to potential joiners: There is a reason all of the WvW-focused guild left Underworld. And it was not due to losing.
I think it has more to do with the fact (as they stated in the live-stream about her) that they aren’t really allowed (with their current rating) to show situations where children are put in perilous situations.
Killing her would most likely include such a situation, so the only way they could do it would basically be off-screen, which would make it quite pointless.
This feels a bit like those semi-racist comments: “They all look the same to me”, even though that hopefully was not the purpose of the OP.
