Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
The problem with that is that once the living story is complete players can no longer play that content
The living world could contain elder Dragons but at most It will be limited to one of them with the very last Living world chaptor being a replayable final encounter with it
because of that the only way to fight the other dragons would be the personal story
If they kill off multiple Elder Dragons with the living world it would make newer players down the road feel very left out that they missed it
1: Put the Elder Dragon in a Dungeon.
2: Make the dungeon permanent.
3: ???
4: Profit.
The easiest way to do it was have it like it used to be and let players know it’s in the past.
That might however not be as easy as you think.
It would require them to store multiple versions of Lion’s Arch for one.
Devs have already stated dragons will be part of personal story and not part of the living world. The living world will show that there are more dangers in Tyria other than the dragons.
That is not specifically what they have said actually.
What they have said was that there would be no dragon last year. And that their original plan was to save Dragons for the personal story.
It is however fully possible that they have decided to “scrap” the personal story part and simply add it all via Living Story.
Or simply building a new Personal story with the Living Story.
And lets be honest, there have been loads of complaints about more or less everything in the Personal Story, so I don’t really think they might be willing to spend as much time, money and resources into that model when all people will do is kitten about it.
Why do people keep throwing around the 18th as a date for the feature patch?
We have heard this date several time, in combination with the words MAINTENANCE patch.
Not feature patch, and thus we really shouldn’t assume that they are the same.
And as for them not telling us anything: Because people will rip them apart if something that was announced doesn’t get implemented due to changes and/or bugs.
I am Preeety sure the only dragon confined under the ground is primordus The location and style makes no cense for mordrimoth at all sorry.
And I am preeeetty sure that Zhaitan and Kralkatorrik also were underground before they awoke as well.
Why not wait, like little less than a week, and see what Season 1 actually leads to?
P.S. forums are not a vocal minority….that is the common excuse of people that deson t want to accept ideas different from their being the real minority.
So you are claiming that more than 1,75 million people uses these forums?
Because if not, then it is not a majority.
The vast majority of the posts made here are from the same maybe 50 posters, while in the game I see new players more or less daily, which would amount to WAY more people than those 50 of us posting on the forums.
Because it isn’t technically a bug?
It is working exact as they have coded it to work.
It might not be the ultimate way to get it to work, but it is still working as intended, and thus not a bug.
Wrong. People have been asking for a LS recap tool IN GAME.
Atlas is an external feature, a brief sentence here and there about past updates scattered across the map, but it still doesn’t adequately present the story in-game, like those blog stories.
Not specifically.
Mainly they have asked for a feature, be it in-game or out of game.
And I would assume that this is simply a temporary version, since people have been demanding to get it right now, while waiting for an in-game version to be completed.
Would people rather have nothing at all? I can almost guarantee that if that would have been the case we would have people whining about them not adding something they have “promised”.
You know, they dont really need any special voice actors for the job, they could just record few developers voice acting, its not that hard to act some short sentence, infact many game companies used their own developers voice acting for some less important characters in their games.
And then instead we would have people complaining about how their character suddenly doesn’t sound like there character anymore?
You are aware that people on these forum have been more or less demanding something like this for about a year, right?
They don’t add stuff that are asked for: People whine.
They add stuff that have been asked for: People whine about them adding it.
They really can’t win, aye?
One could of course assume that basically attacking an enemy base would be considered a group activity, don’t you think?
I am even rather sure that the events for said camps are clearly marked as Group Events, and as such, are not supposed to be done on your own.
Not everything in the game is supposed to be solo. It is a MMO after all.
Or they could just do as every f-ing other game, and give the players a list of overflows, and the ability to pick the one to go to. No need for taxi parties or any of those over-convoluted workarounds…
Oh?
I was under the impression that more or less every kitten other game simply didn’t let you play when the server/map/whatever was full.
A good GM is an invisible GM.
The problem with that (which is evident with the current issues with Personal Story LA) is the fact that the game (currently) don’t really allows multiple versions of the same map, and thus replaying open-world Living Story parts wouldn’t really work.
Uhh… Duh?
Just because it is not easy does not mean we should stop wanting something.
Of course not.
But people are complaining about this atlas, due to it not being “good enough”.
Would you rather have nothing at all for another year until they have managed to fix a good in-game version?
We have seen the effects of SOMETHING dark tied to the jungle. Sylvari NPCs in Caledon suggest that the jungle wurm activity and the Nightmare Court’s husk servants originate from a “darker presence” than the Nightmare Court. It is possible, of course, that these effects are simply radiating from the sleeping dragon, though it suggests at the very least the possibility that it’s already awake.
Yes we have seen something, but it is most likely way to little for it to be an actual awake Dragon.
The effects that we currently see in Caledon looks more like the effects on Svanir from Jormag, than the effects from Branded in the Dragonbrand.
I like it, I just do not like it being on a website as opposed to a functional tool found in game. Surely that is not hard to understand?
And surely it is not hard to understand that adding something to a website is much easier than to adding something to a massive game?
Same here.
Might be browser related.
I am using Chrome and works fine for me.
People on these forums are quite funny.
First it is all like: “Give us something so we can see stuff about earlier Living Story parts! Give it to us NOW!”
Then they give us something exactly like that. And then it is all about:
“We don’t want it LIKE THIS! We want it in THIS way!”
Have people ever stopped and thought about the fact that things actually takes time to develop? Maybe they decided to do something like this for now, until they can add it in a good way in-game, due to people screaming about wanting it right now.
It was added a week or so ago, so if you have already redeemed it it is unlikely that you could do it again.
She is in the drill.
The cutscene is out of character, not something our character sees, seeing as we were not actually there.
Taimi bases her comments on what she have heard from refugees at the camp.
She has never entered LA since the invasion. And none of the refugees was large (or flying) enough to see Scarlet at the top of the drill.
Simple as that.
I know the dragon on the image appears in the starting zone for the Sylvari. But Mordremoth him/her/itself is already awake.
There is actually NO official information whatsoever about Mordremoths state at this time.
We do know that it is connected to Maguuma, which would mean that had it been awake, we would have seen its effects by now, and we haven’t (as far as we know) and thus it is very unlikely that it is awake.
If a Dragon is gonna come out of there it won’t be Mordremoth.
Why not?
Mordremoth (and Bubbles) are the only two “unknown” Dragons, and as far as we know Mordremoth is the only one that is not awake at this time.
Thus it waking up here does make quite a bit of sense.
Indeed, they are fully aware that people do data-mine, and as such I found it rather weird that they would include such information (if real) in the dat-file, especially that early.
But time will tell.
Personally I think that while the basic story might very well follow what they have released, it is likely that it will play out differently.
If you actually did read this entire 15 pages thread… i’m sorry to say that you’ll get no surprise. I know i didn’t get a reaction at all, i expected something like that. However if you are really into gw2 lore and how the world changes, you might have hype for a few minutes after discovering what’s happening.
To be fair the actual datamined information (I checked it myself in order to confirm its validity) doesn’t really say much at all though.
So claiming that people who have read this thread won’t be surprised seems quite premature.
Most (if not all) other MMOs require you to pay for transfer, this is not something unique to GW2.
Something that is (almost) unique for GW2 however, is that unless you want to do WvW (or play with people from other region) you don’t have to transfer, since you can guest for free to any other server in your own region.
RIGHT NOW. (See, this is the main point. The economy is living, right now it is like this, in a year it might be the other way around)
What would happen if they decreased the amount of materials needed, and then next month there was a massive influx of Tailor materials which will lower the price massively?
Then we would suddenly have something that would be both much cheaper AND easier to craft than the two other crafts, because it was made easier MECHANICALLY, which is never a good thing in a living economy.
That isn’t the issue. Blade Shards are easy to come across.
The problem is that the Light Armour ascended crafting material – Bolts of Damask – is insanely unbalanced in comparison to the Medium and Heavy ascended crafting material. That puts a significant time, money and resource gate for anyone who is a light armour wearer and wants to craft the ascended version of the backpiece.
I am aware of that.
But what would happen if they added it to require less, mechanically, and it suddenly, for one reason or another, decreased in price rapidly?
That would suddenly make it MUCH cheaper to craft it with Tailor due to it requiring less materials.
And to be fair, you don’t actually HAVE to craft it with Tailor if you don’t want to, since the back-item is not armor-class specific, a Armor-smith can make it for your Mesmer and so on.
It is after all only the Gift that requires crafting, the back-item itself does not.
What does that matter?
So what it costs 5x more then the other crafters.. its ok you can wait longer and pay more because there is no time limit… what type of logic is that?
The logic in that is that if they mechanically made it require less material it could end up being massively unbalanced the other way around, seeing as material changes prices daily.
The main issue here is that they are using the live version of Lion’s Arch for personal story missions. Which is a mistake, but might simply have to do with space. Having a seperate version of Lion’s Arch for PS would require them to store two Lion’s Arches on the servers after all.
You seems to be under the impression that
1: They will be unobtainable after two weeks.
and
2: That you won’t be able to craft them after the event is over.
Doing a run per day in LA Under Attack will get you more than enough of the potential limited material (blade shard) to build and upgrade several of those things.
The only thing you must craft is vision crystal.
The only thing that must be farmed is shards.
Everything else can be bought. Item assembly is the forge.
This means any crafting at lvl500 will be sufficient.
You also need to craft the Gift.
Which requires lvl500 in either Leatherworker, Tailor or Armorsmith.

I don’t know where they stated it out of game, but in the game when reviewing evidence in Edge of the Mists, Marjory talked about the Molten Alliance beginning their attacks a year ago, which matches up pretty much exactly with the beginning of Flame and Frost in real life.
While that is indeed true that doesn’t really say anything about the time-line in the game.
People have to keep in mind that they can’t really balance stuff based on player-controlled things.
Yes, today it is much cheaper to do it with Leatherworker than with Tailor.
But what about in 1 month? Maybe the materials would cost much less and thus a lower requirement tailor recipe would suddenly become MUCH cheaper than everything else and so on.

Anet have stated that two weeks IRL is two weeks in game for the living world which helps support the real time theory. Story instances are not included in this theory because it breaks it and I have no explanation.
Where have they stated this?
Stop following me. =)
Link me to where they said after LS season 1, and I’ll concede. Until then, you pulled that out of your kitten . I believe they said it simply wasn’t ready for end of 2013.
Here:
Due to the size and scope of the final four story releases in season one, the next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-2013-the-year-in-review/
Arenanet said that all giant feature patch is coming after LS update, March 18th. They said date of the patch in their article about Glory. Obviously the new story will not begin right after the patch so expect the bigger things then, including SAB
They didn’t say Giant, they said big. Which is a rather large difference.
And no, on March 18th there will be a MAINTENANCE build, nothing else.
No, for reals…yeah, two months past 2013 and no whispers about it. Its not like they weren’t ready to deploy it. They were not even close to the mark.
Or maybe they simply overestimated the playerbase and thought that we would understand that “no features until after LS Season 1” means no Precursor crafting until after LS Season 1?

Seems to be a little of everything based on people on Reddit.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1yctcy/any_hints_as_to_which_previous_rewards_are/
Oh, but you quite clearly claimed that you should be able to play as you want and be rewarded for it as much as grinding LS content. And some people want to play by just standing around in towns and chatting, and thus, going by your logic, they should also get the same rewards as grinding LS content, right?
Yes I am bitter. I will be bitter until they give us incentive to play the way we want to play(which is what they said we could do) and be rewarded for it as much as we would be if we grinded out zerg LS content. I want to log into Timberline Falls and just play DEs and get the same rewards as if I were grinding out the LS zergy content. Until that day where I can play how I want to play and not feel like Im missing out on resources and reward, I will be bitter.
So you will basically be bitter until you can stand around talking in [insert town here] and get Legendaries, full Ascended gear and all achievements? Because that is what you are saying.
Some people want to play the game like that, and by your logical they should get the same rewards as those that actually play all parts of the game.
Do we really know that?

Because the attack was extremely sudden, well-planned and fast. Knowing that an attack will come is quite pointless unless you have a clue about how and when.
As for the Pact: The Pacts only focus is Elder Dragons, they are also still fighting Risen in Orr and rebuilding their forces, they did after all lose massive amount of manpower and resources during the campaign in Orr.

Aye, I personally think this is something that has to do with Season 2 rather than Season 1.
Time will tell.
How do you know it is guests?
I would guess that almost all servers have overflows right now. I know for one that AG have had it more or less since patch.

Page 1 of this thread.
Which were stated AFTER the release went live AND corrected by the very same person shortly after.
Nothing stated BEFORE release said anything at all about EVERYTHING from Lion’s Arch moving.
And the Patch notes says MOST not all as well.

Read it again, you’re wrong.
Please point me towards the place that says that EVERYTHING from Lion’s Arch would move to the Vigils Keep.

- Stated publicly that all LA services could be found at Vigil Keep temporarily
They never said that though.
They said all ESSENTIAL LA services could be found there.
And the only essential LA services were MF, Dungeon-traders, Portals and Activity guy.
All of those are in the Vigil Keep, free for use by everyone.

I’m so frustrated with this game, and mostly because of the gem store BS. I miss the old ANet. They were SO much better before they sold out to NCSoft.
You are aware that ArenaNet “sold out to NCSoft” long before GW1 was released, right?
Material promotion
Any other question? i have at least other 3 things that crafters frequently do with the forge.
Far from “regular” crafting routine though. I find it rather unlikely that people run back and forth between crafting and MF several times per day in order to upgrade some material.
