Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Also keep in mind that the in-game quotes are very much made from an in-game character, and unless said in-game character is all-knowing it is very possible that the is wrong.
Especially considering how little we actually know about the Mists.
Degrading comments? I was simply questioning whether or not the poster had actually paid attentions to the Halloween event, seeing as he claimed that it was “so kid-ish”, which is rather clearly not the case if you would actually pay attention to it.
I just find it silly to complain about stuff, when you clearly didn’t pay attention to it in the first place.
Adding stuff for the sake of adding stuff is usually not a good idea though. And you still keep ignoring the fact that they ARE adding stuff.
We have gotten way more stuff added since release than WoW usually gets within the same time-frame.
It is always easy to say how things should be and that people should try and risk stuff when you are not the one risking your money or your job. ArenaNet doesn’t have a back-up of billions of dollars to fall back on if one of their risks fails, so they need to play it somewhat safe.
Despite that we have seen quite a bit of risk-taking (such as Karka-invasion, new updates every two weeks, Living Story, no subs).
I also find it interesting that you keep bringing up WoW as an example seeing as they usually take quite long between their updates (despite demanding you pay them every month to even log into the game), and often those are catered for specific playstyles.
It sounds like you don’t actually want GW2 at all, but rather some other game to be honest.
They had dual-professions in GW1.
And it was a total nightmare to balance. Which was the reason they didn’t keep it in GW2 (it was planned before release, but they scrapped it).
Right now the professions are balanced around what they can and can’t do.
With dual-professions you could suddenly have a thief with the same armor and health as a warrior, but still be able to do massive amounts of damage from stealth.
Or the warriors base stats with the Guardians support abilities.
Or even better, a Mesmer with thief-clones.
You might not care for WvW, but those of us that do want at least some sort of balance in it, since it is after all partly PvP.
GW2 is already updating with new stuff much more often than all those games you have mentioned (and all MMOs I can think of to be honest).
I just LOVE Halloween events!
But would like to see it really dark & scary, the current one is so kid-ish…
Did you even listen to what was said during last Halloween (or the first one for that matter)?
Aye, one of the biggest issues with replayability is the fact that the majority of the Living World takes place in the world, and thus making it replayable might be quite hard.
Dungeons are easy, just place them in Fractals, but open world? Not so much.
How can people using something such as a hack or a glitch be considered “out of balance”?
It is clearly not intended.
No, for something to be a scam it would require it to not give what was advertised. Since it clearly isn’t advertised as Rich nodes, there is no scamming talking place. Since you get exactly what you pay for.
I would say “fractal manipulator- lets you pick what fractals you do instead of it being a lottery” and “gathering minion” could be considered borderland P2W, especially the first one. Seeing as that would give you a rather unfair advantage over those that don’t buy it.
So basically selling stuff that is unavailable in the game? You can’t get rich wood nodes, and azurite and toxic spores are not available as nodes at all at this time as far as I know.
Or well, I suppose you could possible get a azurite ore or two in the Molten Fractal.
Scam would of course require them to actually sell something while saying they are selling something else.
That is not the case. They advertise it as a Copper, Silver and Gold node, no information whatsoever about them being rich or not.
Several of the things you request in your posts are very borderline P2W.
The map is new.
People are trying it out.
There are already less people on it than it was earlier this week so people are already starting to go back.
Making it only available when all maps are full would make it completely impossible for the majority of servers to ever see it.
It does not effect the actual matches, thus it shouldn’t really have the same rule-set (such as only one map) as the actual matches. Especially not since it is all servers together rather than just 3.
I have seen a couple of movies showing New York.
It doesn’t seem to have that much defenses and such, so I suppose me and 10 other guys can just run in and take over the city?
In-game != actual lore.
There is more or less an army defending Lion’s Arch.
They also have direct access to all the capitals of the major races, which means that they could get rather big groups of reinforcements quite fast (unless the gates were destroyed before or just as the attack started.)
They are also aware that Scarlet might very well be planning to attack LA. So it is unlikely that it would be an easy target.
But then again. Why assume Lions Arch is the actual target?
I would assume that it is tied to the exploit, and as such they will not discussed what they did to fix it. That is a common policy when it comes to fixing exploits.
Supply and demand.
They haven’t added it yet because they need to make it balanced.
Making them cost too much to craft will make people buy them.
Making them cost too little and people that have bought or are selling Precursors will cause an uproar.
And indeed it was PLANNED for last year, but on the other hand they were also quite clear rather long before last year was over that it would most likely be pushed to this year.
I would say a safe bet would be the Feature Only patch coming after the Finale of Season 1.
Factions was released in April, in-game store (which required you to pay real money) was released in July and Nightfall was released in October.
That would put the in-game store release about 3 months from Factions and about 3 months from Nightfall, which would mean it was just as close to Nightfall as it was to Factions.
And suddenly not counting Eye of the North is quite silly. If you are going to compare something you should compare it fully and not just ignore the bits that doesn’t support your view.
Uhhm they haven’t. For the most part GW1 focused there income on expansions. It was much later that the cash-shop was introduced and still had a much smaller impact on the game.
Interesting how your “much later” refers to something that was released just a few months after their 2nd campaign (Factions) and before both Nightfall and Eye of the North.
So clearly it wasn’t added “much later” than the expansions. In fact it was added before the majority of them.
Is it unreasonable, though, to expect developers to be able to win their own game?
I would say so yes. Seeing as they are developers rather than testers and/or balancers. I know quite a bit of people that are rather good at playing the piano, but they are completely useless at making their own songs and so on.
Same as with people that are rather good at writing plays but can’t act at all.
Norn could ride Dolyaks. The Charr would have some type of mechanical mount. Choppers?
Norn are way too big to be able to ride Dolyaks.
Keep in mind that when Dolyaks were actually used as mounts it was by dwarves, not “giants”.

It is rather unlikely that the devs are part of the group that high level Fractals are aimed at, and thus this is a rather silly request.
Fairly sure those were all in existance before i took a year’s break from gw1 to try a different game, they certainly were not added in the 2 years or so i spent back in gw1 before gw2 released
And lest we forget, gw2 was announced not too long after eotn, so they were sitting on it for a very long time regardless of whether i recall dates correctly :P
War in Kryta was released after Eye of the North (about three years after even) and Eye of the North was released less than 5 years before the start of the Beta of GW2.
War in Kryta was the first of the Beyond content, with the other things I mentioned added after that, which means it was very much within the time-line of 4 years prior to GW2 beta, where you claimed they did nothing at all.
Statements like this leave me speechless. And probably infracted for stating so.
Hate to point out that the things you claim were greater than the sum of the original campaigns and expansion took place in those zones for the most part, and in the case of Z missions.. used the original content. Without the 3 campaigns and expansion, none of what you listed would have been possible at all.
Really hard to make an argument that add ons to existing content were somehow greater than all prior content combined.
I never claimed that they were greater than the sum of the original campaigns.
I talked about it being greater than the sum of everything added BETWEEN (as in, the time from release of Prophecies to Faction and from Faction to Nightfall and from Nightfall to Eye of the North).
well they did sit on this one and basically ignore gw1 for about 4 years before the betas fired up iirc
Yeah… except for War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, Winds of Change, Embark Beach, z-quests (mission, pvp, vanquish, bounty), Langmar quests, profession overhauls and so on.
Which is basically more than they released between Prophecies – Factions – Nightfall – Eye of the North put together.
now theyre going to be reworking armors, runes, and sigils. This is something that shouldve happened before launch.
If they were going to hold off a game until it was at perfect balance they would never release anything at all.
Balancing takes time, and it changes with every release, so either they will have to spend years for balance and never add anything at all after the game is released, or they would have to use the current system.
The novel Destiny’s Edge makes specific mention of the main characters coming across a field of wild horses.
Technically they only see it via an Asura gate, and we have no idea where it is. It is quite unlikely that it is on Tyria (the continent, not the planet).
I would say that was a rather logical reaction from Kasmeer and Marjory.
I was under the impression that a mated pair was more or less a married couple. Which would make the reaction logical if they are talking about marriage.
Or simply the absurdity of the question completely out of the blue.
It has taken a lot of items out of the game.. You can’t go on the hunt for mini’s, dyes (specific colors) skins and so on. That has all been turned into a gold grind.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Risen_Hylek
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Tequatl_the_Sunless
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Twisted_Watchwork_Moa
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mini_Cobalt_Great_Jungle_Wurm_Head
I see at least 4 mini’s there that are fully possible to “hunt for”, and I believe there are 2 more of the Wurm’s head (seeing as it have 3 heads not just one).
There are also way more unique skins to find out in the world (either traded for tokens, crafted or found as drops from specific mobs) than there have ever been in the gem-store.
I have yet to see a single item being “taken out of the game” just to be put in the gem-store, so please give us a concrete example.
How can they “fix” this though?
There will always be one side that will have less people playing.
Or are you suggesting that they lower the map-cap so much so that it will be more or less impossible to be outnumbered?
So basically make character trading extremely easy?
This belongs in the suggestion forum.
Which was removed about a month ago So suggestions go to the area which they effect.
Just making up new super-enemies can be quite hard though.
Just look at how much these forums hate Scarlet.
So until they actually have a good new idea for new super-enemies they should probably take their time with the Dragons.
It is quite interesting that people seem to name Waypoints as a reason for breaking immersion, especially since Waypoints are an actual part of the lore and exists for the characters in-world.
That doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t traces (such as magic and such) left though! (And no, I don’t really think this is a likely or even logical theory, but who knows? It could tie in with the voice in Scarlets head being Lazarus )
Silly theory incoming!
Lion’s Arch the site for the biggest battle during the War in Kryta, which resulted in rather many dead Mursaat and Jade Constructs.
What if the is trying to get access to those?
Keep on twisting the truth, it’ll look the way you want it to no matter what.
How is it twisting the truth though?
Firstly the quote was made back before Ascended.
Secondly even if we do count Ascended, you can get those in several different kinds of ways. So you are not really forced into a specific playstyle to get them and thus the quote still holds true.
Well they did change EotM from being match-up based to color-based for one.
I would say that is a rather major change based on feedback.
I do think classic WvW is gonna be a ghost town for non top servers like mine (CD) from now on.
Hm?
We had queues on several maps yesterday and we aren’t really a top server (AG rank 12) so I don’t really think that will be much of an issue to be honest.
Oh?
I am rather sure that you never need to do Dungeons or WvW or DEs in order to get the most powerful rewards. They are made by crafting (and/or drops from several different kinds of places).
I understand that but even losing 10-15 people for our server is debilitating at times. We don’t normally get que times except peak every now and again and its pretty much a ghost town.
The map have been out for about a day.
People always spend some time on new stuff.
The REAL WvW will still take place, and those people that actually play WvW for the sake of WvW will play on the real maps.
When they are ready to do so and most changes are more or less set in stone (to avoid the spamming of “OMG THEY LIEEEED!!!!” if something changes.)
That does indeed sound like a bug. If not those 1000 Aetherblades that need to be killed for the achievement is going to take a rather long time ^^
Tactical thinking?
Serious question, how many birthday rewards do people get? I’ve seen people recommend them in other instances as if one would have an unlimited amount of birthday gifts ready to use for any situation, it makes me wonder how exactly they work.
You get one per character, so if you fill out all free slots you will have 5 of them when all your characters have turned 1 year.
Overall story does not necessarily mean Season One story.
It is fully possible that we will get more information about it during season 2 (which would make quite much sense if season 1 ends with Dragon(s).
This is so bad. My server is so poor is WvW. How am I responsible for empty WvW zones?
Well, that argument might have worked before this release. But now you have Edge of the Mists, which means that no matter how little people you have on your server, you will be able to get somewhat decent sized groups there and farm for WXP/Badges/Whatever.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
I didn’t miss it.
But you met the ones that were not of your race in a public gathering, where they talked to each others more or less. Not something that would make them remember you specifically.
Or do you remember every single person you have ever met? Especially if you met them during a situation that most likely was rather emotional.
Maybe it’s a little too high, but the problem is the inconsistency of it.
First piece is 3k
Second piece is 6k
Third piece is 9kSo why isn’t it 12k? It jumps all the way to 21k. I agree with other people a full set should be 18k. I’ve have 4k hours played, and been playing since launch. I only have a little over 10k ap.
I’m not an ap hunter, and I don’t care to be. I play the game because I enjoy it. I’m not going to log in every day to grind ap points. If it doesn’t change then whatever. The armor isn’t the best looking anyways.
So those that have 20k APs will miss out on the set then? Or will they get rewards retroactively and thus basically getting double rewards?
Hm….
I guess I won’t be getting legendaries after all, as I simply don’t do that much WvW. It’s just not my thing.
shrug
Well that halves my desired ‘to do list.’ Sad really, since it’s the long term goals that tend to keep people interested. However, forcing people into a mode of play that they don’t enjoy is not the way to go about enticing people to stick around.
And yet you have been forced to do dungeons since release if you wanted Legendaries.
The fact remains that Destiny’s Edge would not have gotten back together without the player.
That is of course assuming that the player have done all the Story Mode dungeons, because THATS where the story about DE being rebuilt is being told.
Not in the Personal Story, not in the open world, not in the Living Story, but in the DUNGEON story.
And the defeat of Zhaitan is basically part of the Dungeon story-line, even though it also ties into the Personal Story.
To be fair unless you are a human or Charr you wouldn’t really have had much contact with them before. You are basically one of those countless faceless heroes that helped in the battle of Orr in their eyes. The main contact with DE is after all in the story mode dungeons, rather than the Personal Story.
Remember back when you actually had to play WvW in order to get the Badges needed for the Gift? (It would probably take about the same time to gather 500 Badges from WvW as it would to rank to lvl 30).
Also keep in mind that Legendaries are supposed to require all parts of the game.
One could also turn it around: Why should I be forced to grind dungeons that I dislike in order to get a Legendary?
And technically it might even be possible to get to rank 30 without even doing WvW, due to the ranks being buyable with Laurels.
