Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Would give the players that already achieved the 12k chest an email with an item attachment, allowing them to unlock Radiant or Hellfire Greaves.
So people with high amount of APs basically get double rewards? I don’t really think that is something that will be appreciated by the players.
Doesn’t all the Living Story parts takes place in a completely safe area though?
Or do you get some more stuff after getting the Golem Parts?
Because if not, you never even have to leave the base (which can’t be attacked) in order to see the Living Story components.
I do wonder how people that talk about adding it to the 12k tier thinks.
How would that work for people (it is rather many by now) that have already gotten past 12k and already gotten the reward.
Should they be unable to complete the set, just because you want it to be obtained earlier?
???
Ehm yeah 3 pieces of armor till 9k AP…1 piece of armor at the next 12k AP.That’s not “exactly” the same is it?
3,000 Gloves
6,000 Shoulders
9,000 Helmet
12,000 Gloves
15,000 Mantle
18,000 Helmet
21,000 Boots
I would say that is exactly the same amount of points (3000) between all of Radiant/Hellfire items.
They can’t really add it retroactively to a lower chest of course, seeing as that would mean people would miss out if they had already opened that one.
How is the gap way too big?
It is the exactly same amount of APs that there is between the other Hellfire/Radiant skins.
The achievement rewards are long-term goals.
If you keep playing you will get them sooner or later. They will keep releasing stuff when people are closing in on the current “max”. Get used to it.
Denial of Service is when there a planned attack to prevent a web site from working. If Denial of Service is what is going on, please who planned it? All I asked for was somebody from Anet to give a realistic time frame for access. I understand there are issues going on. However a post three days ago is not an update. When it was released today. Am humbling waiting to see when I can get in and check out EotM
No one have claimed that it is a Denial of Service attack. Only that it is basically working the same way as one.
They can’t give a timeframe since they don’t know.
If they knew, they would have told us. And if they give a time-frame now and they don’t manage to fix it within that time all hell will break loose.
PTR
Unless the PTRs are exactly as many as the real servers and have the same amount of players (they never will) PTRs can’t do kitten about making something “DDoS-proof”.
PTR can find bugs and stuff (but most of the time don’t, since the majority simply play on them in order to see content earlier than others, rather than wanting to test), but that is not the issue here.
Why hasn’t this been tested out enough before of the implementation.
And how would you suggest that they test things like these?
The issues turned up because a massive amount of people tried to connect at the same time.
You can never simulate that with testing.
From where did this information come?
What is happening is a massive amounts of people trying to connect at the exact same time. Which is more or less exactly what a DDoS attack is all about.
How about an update here from Arena Net. EotM is huge failure if we can not get in. Somebody in the Know please share information or at least give a real idea of how long we have to wait. Two hours was hours ago.
What can they say that they haven’t already said?
They are working on it and trying to fix it as fast as possible.
Until we hear something else that is what is going on.
This is an issue of poor engineering, infrastructure management and myopia.
No matter how powerful infrastructure or how skilled engineering you have it is 100% impossible to be completely safe from DDoS, and this is basically a DDoS.
They recently added Dhuumstone finishers to the dat-file…. ^^
I would love to see all the solutions people have to DDoS attacks, because that is basically what is happening right now.
Please, give me the code/service/whatever that makes a server completely fool-proof from this kind of thing. After you have done that you can whine all you want, but before that I would suggest keeping quiet, since you clearly don’t have a clue about the issues at hand.
Except most sub mmos don’t sell you in game gold, i say most but idk any that do.
Which is a completely different issue. The person I quoted didn’t want a cash shop, and I corrected him/her/it by stating that it is very common for sub MMOs to still have cash shops.
And it is fully possibly to buy in game gold in more or less every single MMO. GW2 just makes it possible to do it legit.
If for the sub fee I’d get 1) quality over quantity monthly/bimonthly updates, 2) no cash shop ridiculousness , 3) more permanent over temporary content, I’d gladly pay even 15-25 Euros a month.
Subs are usually a good sign in the MMO market.
Oh, except for the fact that more or less every sub-based MMO still have a cash shop.
Next question – Why would the molten and toxic alliances support the return of former human god of death, or any human gods at all? Let’s have a better answer please than Scarlet being so super that she can get anyone to do anything.
Why assume she told them the reason for her actions?
And how is people being killed by invasion and/or terrorist attacks/weapons of mass-destructions different from people being killed by the Searing?
Where else would they end up? And why assume they will survive long enough to make it on to their final destinations (if said destination is not the Underworld).
Gwens mother was running around in the UW quite long after her death after all.
But back to the previous point, I fail to see how Scarlet’s chaos and destruction aids Dhuum in any way.
1. Civilians die.
2. Civilians get sent to the Underworld.
3: Civilians get killed again in the Underworld, due to being more or less unable to defend themselves, thus making Dhuum stronger.
4: ???
5: Profit.
With a subscription they get a steady income, so I don’t see a reason to increase time-gating. On the contrary, with a subscription introduced, they could lower it. Make new and interesting content, and players will enjoy playing the game without restrictions.
Yes, they get a steady income, until the players have gotten everything they would like to get, and then they stop subbing because there is no more stuff to work towards.
Why do you think most sub-based games have lock-out timers on instances and raids, and requires rather many runs in order to get the stuff you want/need?
That would probably also include less time gating, maybe a bit higher drop rates… You name it!
That does of course go very much against a subscription.
In a sub-based game the company wants you to stay and pay for as long as possible, and as such it is quite likely that they would rather INCREASE time-gating and lower drop rates, in order to make people chase after stuff for longer and thus paying more money on subs.
As for adding subs to the game I would say no.
I prefer to support the game at my leisure rather than paying and then feeling “forced” to play constantly for said month. We also saw the reactions on these forums (and reddit, and other forums) when the Chinese subscription details were data-mined some time back. And it wasn’t pretty.
Well, seeing as Greens is often the highest ranking server in a match-up it would make sense that they are “dominating”.
It might effect it a bit for the first week or so, but when the novelty of the release wears off it is quite likely that many of the higher ranking greens would go back to the real fights.
We also have to keep in mind that a tier 5 green will most likely be much worse than a tier 2 blue and so on.
They most likely were testing it, and it ran into some sort of issues during testing, and decided to hold it off and focus on more pressing matters for now (such as Edge of the Mists, which clearly had a very set release date).
I read her comment more like: “We are still going to release this, but not quite yet” rather than “We are currently planning and figuring out how to implement it”.
Well it all comes down to not wanting to do something, correct?
At least based on these kind of threads. People don’t WANT to join a PvP map. Which seems to have more to do with the fact that it is a PvP map rather than that there might be someone trying to attack them.
Why can’t it be the same for PvP:ers?
Some PvP:ers don’t WANT to do PvE for one reason or another. But apparently those guys are not allowed to have issues with being “forced” to do PvE, but PvE:ers are very much allowed to have issues with being “forced” into a semi-PvP map.
True.
I always assume they (and the meta itself) will be removed with the next update, unless explicitly stated otherwise. I would say that is a rather good way of thinking. That means you will be sure to plan accordingly.
I remember back in the days when there were no dailies that counted for the meta. And you had to do the actual achievements for the meta-reward.
I don’t think pveers should have to do pvp, and I read people saying they’re going to camp achievement zones so they can kill pveers as a great example of why you should never force someone to do pvp, even if you, as anet clearly does, think it’s the best thing in the world. I have a huge problem with the “pound” mechanic, and will oftentimes disconnect, rather than allow it to happen, even if the result’s the same. I don’t like being hunted down when I’m clearly trying to run away, just so someone can kill me, and get a useless piece of loot. I feel like I’m being murdered, and violated. That’s my thing, but it’s still not a nice feeling, and not something anet should encourage by forcing people who don’t want to do PvP into PvP zones. And no, saying “Tee hee, you’re not forced to do anything. Gotta expect pvp in a pvp zone, bag of loot.” doesn’t cut it.
And yet people don’t see to have any issues whatsoever that PvP:ers “have to” do PvE in order to gain the vast majority of stuff.
Just because someone is a PvP:er doesn’t mean they don’t care about story after all.
And it’s “English”, not “American”. Seriously, you Americans have no clue.
To be fair many countries does actually teach American English rather than British English, so he is somewhat correct.
The Asura is Omadd, Scarlets mentor.
i was always of the impression that the elder races defeated the dragons, rather than wait for them to finish their party. otherwise, the dragons would have eventually reached the bloodstone, and who knows what would have happened then.
If they had defeated the Dragons why would Glint need to hide them? And if they had defeated the Dragons it is quite likely that it would have been much easier to defeat them again this time around, especially since most of the races from back then still lives in Tyria.
You would have to still be killed IN the underworld for it to benefit Dhuum.
Exactly, and unless the Underworld have changed drastically since the days of GW1 every single civilian that died from Scarlets attacks would be more or less a free kill in the Underworld, and thus it would benefit Dhuum greatly.
It is rather likely that they had no idea about the locations of the Elder Dragons (the Asura did build their kitten transportation-system around and used the power of Primordus to power it after all.)
Well, wouldn’t dying send you to the Underworld, and thus be in a domain where Dhuum could very much benefit from you?
Speculations is a double-edged sword.
While it is indeed interesting and fun, it quite often end up with people assuming speculations are facts and then whine when the speculations end up being incorrect and start claiming that ArenaNet lied and so on.
And now you got yourself another (or possibly even a double) infraction for posting it again AND commenting on moderation.
ill probably be hated for that, but i think Carbine has much better and solid team than Anet! still both games are fun! but id LOVE see housing and other customization features in gw2.
That is a rather bold statement, seeing as Carbine haven’t actually released anything yet.
If we are going to do a direct comparison that would be between pre-launch ArenaNet and the current Carbine. And I think quite a few people would claim that there is a rather big difference between pre-launch AN and current AN.
uhmm, i really don’t care about the lore part, it’s still breaks immersion.
what’s more immersive:
- teleport everywhere in a magical way
- ride to your destination on a mount
ill go for the mount any day.
For something to break immersion it would have to not fit into the world. And thus would have to in some way or form, break lore. Which WPs don’t do.
No, this thread shall not fall!
(It was on page 2, shame on you sPvP people!)
sorudo:
You are aware that WPs are actually in-lore, right? So they shouldn’t really break immersion at all.
Mounts on the other hand isn’t really used by most of the races, so that might very well be immersion-breaking.
Not bugged.
Working as intended.
Firstly, very few people actually watch the livestreams, so it is not a great way to convey information.
Secondly I too am not entirely happy that living world content has crept into WvW, Scarlet has no place in the Mists and PvE content should be kept in PvE. I do not like Arena Net’s trend of forcing her badly written character into every little piece of content.
Personally I am looking forward to the map, but most definitely not the Living Story content tied to it, the sooner the Scarlet arc is over the better.
Which is why he conveyed the information on the forums as well…?
Had you paid attention to the Living Story until know you would have been fully aware that Scarlet have been looking towards the Mists since last year, so it is not something new. We KNEW she were trying to enter the Mists, so it is not really surprising that she actually does it.
Quite a bit of people actually prefer to have a story reason for a new map turning up instead of just logging in and suddenly have it available with no explanation.
As for forcing her into every content: Do you really think they added her into EotM as an afterthought? It is very likely that they planned to tie the Edge of the Mists into the living story long before they even announced the map itself.
This will however make tactics and such more or less impossible. How are you going to work together if people uses different channels after all?
From experience people tend to speak a language most of the people in the map understand when on overflows, so I don’t really think it will be much of an issue.
Fun fact: many posters have blasted the infinite tools because it’s nearly impossible to recoup the price of the tool through normal use. It costs so much that the money you save by not buying tools would take years to pay for it. So they add value to the tool (a few copper every four or five strikes) which should reduce this calculation a bit, and people blast the infinite mining pick because it offers more value. Pretty interesting…
But that is not the main issue people have with the new ones.
The main issue is what it might mean for the future.
Sure, right now it is a “worthless” and easily obtainable item being added, but what if they would have added Azurite instead? Which is very hard to come by at this time.
-The player demand for multiple sets of armour isn’t there anyway. This is not a point. Dungeon gear assures us of this. People tend to only want one type of gear, which is why EVERYONE is ’zerker.
So having the ability to switch stats would be completely pointless then, since in your mind no one would use it anyway?
Lordkrall – maybe you have a faulty memory.
Legendaries are meant to be cosmetic only – a grand achievement with no gameplay benefit. They are already going to be Account bound instead of the normal character bound. There’s no reason squelch a good idea just to keep Legendaries different. The fact that legendaries can already do this is proof that it is easy to implement. There is no reason not to extend this to all items for the reasons listed ahead.
And this is a very good thing.
Oh, but I don’t find it a good idea. And I used an argument to why it wasn’t a good idea.
You might not agree with it, but it is still an argument none-the-less.
I don’t think anyone have ever claimed that it is not easy to implement. But if we do think a bit farther about it, the idea itself is quite stupid (in my opinion).
If you could get any stats on any weapon-sets (why should only Ascended have the ability after all? Why not Exotic? Why not Rare? And so on, if one set (outside of Legendary which are special cases) get it, why should not all?) people would simply craft the cheapest one and then have access to all others as well. Which would most likely hurt crafting and the market quite a bit.
I think you have a faulty memory when it comes to GW1.
In order to change and maximize (which is the case here, since everything would still be fully doable with Exotics or even Rares) you needed to buy a complete new set of runes and so on, and quite a few of those were quite expensive.
As for the change itself:
While the idea is good it is quite likely that it will be implemented with the Legendary gear, just like how you can change stats on the weapons now.
Adding that to another tier would remove more or less the only special things about Legendaries, which is most likely not a good thing.
Quite interesting that you link to something that proves quite fast that Scarlet would not be classified as such.
Yes, you can get buffs via food and/or skills.
But the game is balanced around that.
Adding a completely new source of buffs would require quite a bit of rebalancing and would most likely end up with people without months being at a disadvantage due to buffs being nerfed in favor of another source from the mounts.
Sure is, when there is a zerg standing around kill everything that you set up it’s easy to counter…
Build arrow-carts?
As already stated. It is very easy to counter it, so there isn’t really much of an issue.
