Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
I would assume it have to do with the fact that it would be hard (if not impossible) to check if they have been used or not before.
I actually get extremely concerned when I see these bosses, not because of poor balancing or something, but because, I have no idea how this boss got past the concept stage.
“So we have a boss where 20 people need to do the exact same thing at the same time”
“What if they’re randoms who have never cooperated before, some of which are lagging, cant see past spell effects and dust clouds, and just dont know what to do due to them being new or just not familiar with the event?”
“Nah, that won’t happen. Just do it. And test it on our top-of-the-line machines only without regard for low-end computers that are sure to participate in MMORPGS.”It’s CONCEPTUALLY bad. And that’s actually real soured me on the whole game unfortunately. There are people releasing content without thinking about whether it’s a good idea or not.
And after the cool ideas of renown hearts, dynamic events and the consolidated combat system, it feels like a completely different team is doing really bad ideas.
So what you want is basically single champs that can be zerged down without thinking?
There is currently a grand total of TWO of these kinds of fights (Tequatl and Wurm), how many of the hit it until it dies type of fights do we have?
50?
100?
200?
Is it really such an big issue that not every single thing in the game will catered to the extremely casual player? The vast majority of the game will still be fully doable by those players, while on the other hand the players that want real challenges have more or less 2 things to choose from.
But the lack of effort from the Pact to find her is indeed puzzling.
The Pact have nothing at all to do with Scarlet though.
They are created for one purpose, and one purpose alone, to combat the Elder Dragons.
One of my biggest complaints about this patch is that there is NO story. All we get is a 10 minute ‘story’ instance that tells us nothing we didn’t already know…excluding Kasmeer’s father and Taimi’s introduction, of course. This patch is nothing but two world bosses (that popped out of the blue) and a list of monotonous achievements. Where is the story?
And more information about Rox, and a rather big amount of information about Scarlet and loads of hints about the future.
There is even an achievements that pushes you to the story (and the UI for that matter).
Not sure if this has been mentioned but is it possible that after each group does the escort that 3 groups can become one big zerg and do each wurm together.
I believe you need to kill all three heads more or less at the same time.
This is the first of four parts of the final of the Scarlet arc. So still 3 more updates focusing on Scarlet.
After that we will see a feature only patch and then we might pick-up where the Scarlet arc ended.
But where should they draw the line?
Should I be able to play these big events with a computer from the 90s?
Well, seeing as she could have a secret hideout for MONTHS under one of the Order of Tyrias main HQ I don’t really think far fetched to assume she have other, bigger, facilities hidden around Tyria.
She does have the assistance of quite a few skilled groups when it comes to those things (the Aetherblades do use Airships and such after all). And she is quite smart.
So you would rather be stuck in queues unable to play at all for several hours?
This event is more of a hassle than Tequatl. People will complete this once, and then never bother again. And I think a lot of servers might not even be able to complete it at all.
Here’s something I don’t get: Last time I checked, Team Speak was an external program, and not a part of GW2. So why are these events being designed with Team Speak in mind?
And exactly that was said about Tequatl as well, and now I can complete it multiple times each day if I want to.
Without ever joining a TS server.
Didn’t we have more or less the exact same thread a few hours after Tequatl was updated as well?
Give it a few days and people will figure it out, just as with Tequatl.
Hm?
This update does have a massive amount of story. Both the instance in Lions Arch, but especially the Scarlet Hideout things.
Oe oh, EOTN brought great new areas, new heroes. Very overpowered pve skills(with their corresponding ranks), Lot’s of great dungeons and lots of good new weapons(ok after the weapon design contest). EOTN was a great expansion for me.
Oh, I have never claimed that EotN was a bad expansion, I am simply stating that the amount of stuff added wasn’t much more than we have seen with the Living Story model, but still took longer time.
Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North says hi.
Anet produces better work when they have had a reasonable amount of time to design and test it.
Factions and Nightfall were not expansions. They were their own games and were being developed even before Prophecies was released as far as I remember.
The only actual expansion GW1 had was Eye of the North. And that didn’t really add much more than the LS have done (and it took much longer time to release that as well.)
More people -> more visibility -> more bought copies -> less queue times -> even more people -> more money
Toxic people are there anyway, so I don’t really se the point.
Not necessarily.
People might be turned off by the very toxic environment. And it will not lessen with F2P, quite the contrary. Just look at games like HoN, LoL and DotA2.
While more player and more money is good, the risks of this making them lose out on money probably outweighs the possible benefits.
I would say no to this.
The behavior of (some parts) of the PvP players is already bad enough. Adding the ability for every troll on the internet to join it for free will just make it worse.
Nope.
They had a preview release. They just had it change over a week.
This is the first time there is no preview release, probably becuase it’s just the 2 world bosses that drop greens and blues.
And it was a preview that showed us absolutely nothing at all about what would be released.
It basically said: The queen will have a speech, come here and listen.
It wasn’t until the actual release that the real page was released.
They are also tradeable now, so check the Trading Post.
Oh yes, everything is considered art today, 100 years ago it would have been marked as it is, utter trash.
I find it bit ironic that you keep bumping up a thread you feel should be removed.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
I would guess it have to do with the fact that more and more people decide to stay away from the forums, due to the sheer amount of whining going on everywhere. And thus it seems like the whining itself is increasing.
Ah, sorry, I of course mean the Queens Speech.
I am not talking about people not wanting to get spoiled (and lets be honest, people will be spoiled even if they don’t look on the page), but rather ArenaNet not wanting to spoil the main part of the release.
We didn’t get any information at all about the Queens Jubilee update either.
I would assume it is simply because they don’t want to spoil anything.
If people do not play a particular event that rewards a particular item then oh well. Reward items are to reward the players for supporting the game by playing the game at a certain time and doing the prerequisite achievements. People who play after the living story event completes, or who just flat out chose not to play, are not entitled to these rewards.
Of course. And there would be no problem with that. IF we had been told at the start that it would be the case.
Suddenly adding rewards that would be completely impossible to certain players due to requiring no longer available achievements would be a very bad idea.
Will most likely be the case when we get Legendary Armor, seeing as that is how it currently works with Legendary Weapons.
The gear will still be the gear with highest DPS, so what would you want to change it for?
And lets be honest, most people went for Zerker because they knew it was much stronger than everything else and should have known that it would be nerfed sooner or later.
Rewards players for playing the game.
And kitten those people that decided to not start playing at day one you mean?
Or those that didn’t bother with the early parts of the Living Story?
Sounds like a rather bad idea (even though I personally would qualify).
Hiding current rewards behind something that can no longer be completed is never a good idea.
Then they should be permanently banned from the game and learn their lesson. ArenaNet have banned exploiters before and they will do it again. Players will understand that they don’t stand a chance against the law of ArenaNet.
But how can anyone prove that they have done that?
Maybe the guild had some issues, and thus decided to split up, and in order to “work things out” they decided to have a bit of warring between each other.
Said warring ended up with the guilds figuring out that maybe being together wasn’t so bad after all, and rebuild the original guild.
Should they be banned for that?
I know it sound a bit far fetched but no one can really claim that they would be lying, and thus ArenaNet can’t really ban them for anything.
You shouldn’t be able to call a Guild War on any guild you are a member of, even if you’re not representing.
Leave the first guild. Create two new.
You should only be able to be in one Guild War at a time. Also. In GW2 guilds are account wide.
So your current guild split into two smaller guilds, declare war on each other and manipulate and get rewards that way.
The difference being that it takes 3s and 3 clicks to reset your traits. People have invested hundreds of gold and quite a lot of time to get their armor a certain way.
I can understand that if all you do is play video games all day having to regear isn’t all that big of a deal to you but not everyone has the time to play 10 hours a day or even 10 hours a week.
But what if the skill being changed makes me want to change build completely, including different stats? Is that really any different?
No, the insides of the Tower are no longer available, seeing as the tower is destroyed.
I’m sorry I didn’t know there were rules and steps on how to play the game. If so isn’t kindness and helping the biggest rule therefor it shouldn’t be a problem if a newbie enters soloQ
There are no rules, but the fact that Tournaments actually effects your leaderboard position and so on, would suggest that maybe you shouldn’t join it if you don’t know how the different maps work?
I agree that people don’t always listen but when nothing is said there is nothing to listen to.
New guys don’t know the basics
One could however suggest that people that don’t know the basics maybe shouldn’t join ranked matches in the first place?
Buffing stuff is always harder than nerfing.
When nerfing something you don’t need to take other things into consideration as much as if you buff.
If you on the other hand buff something, you need to change the rest of the game to accommodate said buffs, in order to stop everything from being trivial due to players being stronger but content not harder.
Is it really surprising that non-professional streamers are not acting like professional streamers?
They are developers after all, not PR-people. They are not employed to be good streamers, they are employed to make a game.
Personally I prefer the more personal streams than those boring strict, everything planned in the slightest detail kinds.
WvW is PvPvE.
While it does have PvP it is based around your PvE character, with your PvE gear, PvE level, PvE skills and PvE traits.
This is an entirely different thing from a trait change here or a skill change there. It’s changing an entire stat. Learn how to scale.
How is it different though?
If they change a skill that is “required” for lets say my Condition Based build, and suddenly make it “useless”, I wouldn’t want to have my Condition gear anymore, and thus I should, following your logic, be allowed to change it for free.
Most likely not.
The achievements for last Wintersday were not available this Wintersday.
I have to agree with this. Although, I’d say that the free stat change should only be applied to ascended gears…. I don’t have ascended armors, but I think had I, I would feel extremely cheated, if the gear I made was no longer optimal for my play style.
So every update where they change a skill or trait that might make my play-style (and thus my stats) no longer optimal I should get a free stat-change?
Well turns out it not an overreaction at all. They actually have to give people the option to change stats on zerker pieces now. No ifs or buts.
Why?
They are not removing any stat (true, they are changing one, but it is not zerker specific) and thus no real reason to allow change of gear.
Or should they allow everyone that have said stat on any of their gear to get a free change?
If
/13 char
Oh, but didn’t you know?
If they do anything that does make zerker as “useless” as any other stat combinations they are destroying it!!!11! ?
Could you also do something about these godkitten ques? It is getting insane on fridays waiting for more than an hour to play the game I payed for. And dont begin about that map update because that is not solving the que problem.
What can they do though?
The queues are there for a reason, if they could have unlimited amount of players on each map I am quite sure they would.
Good job people.
We get someone that will work on communicating with us and at once you start attacking him and complaining, and claiming that they don’t care and so on.
Why do you think Devon stopped posting in the first place?
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
Open world GvG would improve the game, populate the game world and make it feel more active. I don’t see why it would hurt the game. WvW is a zergfest over and out, it’s not for everyone that enjoys free roaming PvP. Open world GvG would be for those players that enjoy free roaming and zergless PvP that happens on random.
No, it would not improve the game.
It would hurt those of us that want to keep PvP out of the PvE world while only help the tiny minority that want the ability to PvP everywhere.
WvW might be a zergfest, but it is PvP.
PvE is against mobs, not against other players.
You also show lack of understanding of WvW in your posts.
What you are requesting is fully possible (and do happen quite often) in WvW. You are not forced to run around with the big mega-zerg after all, and most organized guilds don’t.
Ah, that might be the case.
I don’t know, just reporting what I have read on reddit ^^
One would have thought that Josh would have corrected people if this thread was incorrect though ^^
Open world PvP is something that will not, and should not, happen in GW2. If you want big PvP fights, go to WvW. It is available to everyone from lvl 2, so I don’t really see why they would need to add stuff that would hurt quite a big part of the player-base, when said thing already exists.

The issue with putting those things in the store itself is that it would take way too much space and just clutter up the whole screen. Especially in the case of BLCs seeing as they have a rather high amount of different drops.
FYI this is not a preview at all. This is a discussion and preview for the next balance update, for which there is no proposed date yet.
They did however say they would preview the upcoming patch if they got more than 500 viewers on ESL Weekly Cup #12, which did indeed happen. So it does seem like we will get some previewing later today.
People seem to forget (or ignore in order to “validate” their “arguments”) that we had more or less no details at all for the Queens Jubilee update, and yet it had rather much stuff when it was actually released.
