You also required certain ranks of Sunspear in order to get past several points in Nightfall.

It is there because there are people that want something better to work towards. And thus they made a compromise.
You need to work quite a bit for it, but the difference is so small that it is in no way required and thus won’t effect those people that don’t want to work for those slightly better stats.

And if you truly believe this to be a case of bait and switch, drag them to court. If you are correct, you will win, and since people keep spamming about it being B&S one would assume they are quite sure that it is indeed the case.

It is common practice in Asia, and have been for YEARS, they even had time-cards for GW1 over there. And I have yet to see anything like that in NA/EU version of GW1.

The are REQUIRED to have something like this in order to have the game on the Asian market. You also have to keep in mind that ArenaNet is not responsible for marketing the game in China.

No official date yet.

And as for more players in the game it is highly likely that they will play on their own servers and not interact with us in any way (other than generating more money for the game), due the the game being quite different over there.

There will be a rather big difference between the Chinese and NA/EU version of the game, including (rumors) a rather massive decrease of WPs around the world, which would make the Teleport to Friend very useful, while for us we can simply WP.

Except that they won’t. At least not in the West, and adding something like this in the east is more or less required.

Seeing as the game does not currently support languages that uses the cyrillic alphabet there is really no reason for them to add support for it. It would just create frustration, and there is also the issue with people writing profanities in a text the GMs couldn’t understand.

If they would not post anything that had the slightest risk to get delayed they would never be able to post anything at all.

How is this thread still going on?
We have confirmation (as many of us stated when this was revealed) that it is for the Chinese release of the game, and yet people are still shouting about how much it sucks and how bad ArenaNet are.

The poster of this has very reliably brought us datamined info for the last 9+ months. Almost 100% of what he has posted has been implemented into the game. The only thing I haven’t seen implemented that he has found, is precursor crafting, which we know is coming.

Actually it is more like 60% of what he have posted have appeared in the game. And the fact that ArenaNet KNOWS people are data-mining everything, it is quite unlikely that they would put something like this in without any kind of announcement prior.

That is of course assuming that (if it is true) it will require constant payment. It is of course fully possible that it is either a 1 time thing or simply unlocked based on activity and/or gem-purchases.

If it does not require more than one payment (or doesn’t run out) it is in no way a subscription.

Why assume they didn’t just add it in there as a joke? They are fully aware that people are actively data-mining everything after all and it would seem quite silly to add something like this to the dat-file without even talking about it first.

There are a massive amount of stuff data-mined that have never been added to the game, even a year after they were first found.

If it was a Chinese specific feature I doubt it would be localized or written in English, and the reddit user who posted that has been pretty dead on with every item that has been data mined over the last year. Basically every item he has posted on reddit ended up in the actual game.
I do hope you’re right that it is to test things out in the alpha servers and gets scrapped though.

It is quite possible that the Chinese version of the game will come with English texts as well, for people that prefer original text and such.

And no, he have posted quite a bit of stuff that have not appeared in the game. And he also claimed that he would stop over a month ago and basically didn’t even play the game, so it is also fully possible that this is a joke on his part.

But there have been stuff in the dat-file for over a year that has not yet been added to the game. Not everything in testing (and this is from a testing-build if it is even real) does make it to the live game, even if the data for it remains.
They are also fully aware that people are checking the dat-file, so they can (and have I think) put in false things just for that as well.

Sadly I don’t have the testing-client, so I can’t check myself if it is actually there.

Lets not jump ahead of things now shall we.
Until we have confirmation this is actually a thing it would be best to assume that it is either a joke, or something added to the alpha test-servers just to test the waters, or even an offer specific to the Chinese Release of GW2.

If it is indeed a real thing, I have a bit of mixed reactions, but it would all depend on how it would work.

One-time payment? Somewhat okay with it, but borderline.
Sub? Not acceptable, and might turn me off from the game.
Time and/or gems purchase based? Probably the best solution if this is indeed a thing.

You are confusing Gameplay with Lore. And even there you are completely ignoring about 20 levels of personal story.

Nothing points towards them “only exist to destroy whatever dominant race”, and definitely not at a set schedule. They wake up when the magic of the world is high enough for them to wake up and consume it again.
If none of the races would use magic, I doubt they would even be targeted.

Zhaitan wasn’t destroyed off easily. Again, you are ignoring about 90% of the things done in the personal story (including those lines that you don’t do yourself. They are still being done, in-lore).
Nothing suggests that Zhaitan is undead. Its minions are undead, but Zhaitan itself is not. As for being made up of little dragons that is much more likely simply a description than an actual trait.

The main issue with measuring skill by reaction time is that it automatically makes people with bad connection unable to be considered skilled, and would thus be unable to access anything that is locked behind said kind of skills, even if they are skillful enough.

So far as we know the only one that has displayed any level of intelligence (at least to the best of my knowledge) was Kralkatorrik, who sought out Glint and killed her in a fit of vengeance for having been betrayed. So it could be that the Elder Dragons are in fact sentient, or at least nominally sentient. They are at least as intelligent as Crabbe and Goyle from Harry Potter.

Minions of the Elder Dragons fight each other, which would suggest that they are not friendly to each other.

Zhaitan showed quite a bit of intelligence as well, when attacking the Orders HQs and such. It clearly have enough intelligence to do calculated moves at the least.

So technically dragons are like the Reapers from Mass Effect series. Each cycle they awake, they destroy Tyria until a new race arrives. That being said how exactly did we kill off Zhaitan so easily? Wouldn’t he just regenerate and rise up again? It would make no sense to kill of dragons so easily now… are they stepping on their own lore now?

They don’t destroy Tyria. They eat up the excessive magic and then go back to sleep. There are after all races that have survived earlier ED cycles (but then again they were hidden by Glint).

We didn’t kill of Zhaitan easily. It took a massive cooperation between all the major and several minor races of Tyria including a full-scale invasion, starving and blinding it by killing off its food and spies. Using completely new and unique technology and so on.

So just because the actual fight against the mob Zhaitan is easy, doesn’t mean it didn’t take massive amount of actual work to get it done. It was very weakened when we faced it after all.

There is nothing that implies that Elder Dragons are immortal or somehow reforms if they are destroyed.

Yes, I watched all videos and read every interview, and thus I was fully aware that the game would not be exactly like their original intent were.

As for changes made after release I have been annoyed by a few, but since they have actually motivated them (good enough in my eyes) I still don’t have too much of an issue with said changes, since I can see how it is useful for the game as a whole.

If you had paid attention to a single thing other than just a video released several years before the game, you would have been fully aware about any things that might have changed (or had been clarified since people did seem to misunderstand things quite a bit.).

They can communicate all they want, but if the players don’t even bother looking at said communication it is utterly pointless.

Based on Reddit it seems like some people have started getting the backpack at least.

You are however completely ignoring the fact that they didn’t start at the same time, nor did they finish at the same time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that they are targeting different players. WvW Season 1 was primarily for WvW players after all so that one shouldn’t really count among those others.

Actually it is VERY easy to obtain Ascended.
It basically requires no skill at all, and is much easier to obtain than lets say Dungeon Exotics.

There is no word if it will be available again, but it is quite likely.

It did cost 1000 gems.

Besides, Lion’s Arch was already attacked. If they’re going to do something as predictable as her attacking a city, at least do a place that we’re not expecting. I also see really no point for Scarlet to attack Lion’s Arch. Then again, I really see no point in anything else that she’s done other than to solidify her character as a cardboard-cutout-villain.

She does however seem to be interested in the Mists currently, and wouldn’t attacking the city with direct portals to the Mists be a rather logical target in that case?
And no, the portals in LA isn’t just game-play, they are actual lore.

1: Send gold to the person wanting to transfer.
2: The person trades the gold for gems.
3: The person use said gems to transfer.
4: Problem solved.

A guild usually don’t have issues getting enough gold to help someone transfer.
Unless said guild consists of very few people or people that don’t really play the game.

Well, people have been complaining about that female voice more or less every single time they release a new trailer, so I suppose they simply decided to try something new and see if people preferred that instead.

Play the game and you will find them.
Either as drops from mobs or from open world nodes (these will come with mobs however, so get ready to fight).

And while “someone is trying to justify anets decisions at any cost” (I have never actually seen anyone like this tbh) there are just as many, if not more, that seems to have a compulsive need to hate everything about the game and the company as well, and instead of just moving on, have to spam these forums about it.

That would indeed be the case, if the majority of the players actually did use the gem-store.
I do however not think that is the case, and removing one of the thing that most likely generate most of the income is not really such a good idea.

Keeping players happy are important.
Being able to pay their employees is however way more important.

You have to keep in mind that server transfer is a way for ArenaNet to generate revenue, what you are suggesting would completely remove said revenue and thus lessen the overall income, which is not really something they would want to do.

Aye, I have seen that 400k concurrent users before release, but never seen specifically 460k, and it would be a bit wierd to say 400k before release if it were indeed 460k at that time.

Is it actually confirmed that said concurrency is actually from right after release though?
