EotM was added as a WvW map as requested by the WvW players. Not counting that because you no longer feel that it does what it was suppose to do does not mean it didn’t get added.

People are complaining about stuff being added since release, and yet now things added since release doesn’t count because it was either a long time ago, or you personally don’t like it?

Yes the progression system is the WXP-system, which was, once again, something requested by the WvW-players.

Last time I logged in to WvW was earlier today. I am mainly a WvW player so I try to play it at least more or less daily.

Adding progression tracks did very much take efforts. It required balancing, it required coding the system altogether and so on. So claiming it took no effort is blatant lying.

Are you trying to say that the store that was added years after it launched was the primary focus and that it made them more money then all the boxes sold? I remember when the store launched and all you could get was more character slots and the expansions. Then when they made it so you could have a pvp character with everything unlocked for balanced arena pvp they started selling skills in the store. I will agree that is an advantage for PVE but everything was on an even playing field for PVP. Are you saying there is not more in-game advantages in the current gemstore? Day one in Guild Wars I could not pull out my credit card and buy what ever I wanted including the best weapons in the game like I can in GW2. Trying to make Guild Wars sound pay to win when GW2 is 10x more pay to win is silly.

Years after? The in-game store in GW1 was released July 28, 2006 which was only a few months after Factions and only about 1,5 year after release of Prophecies, and before the release of the last campaign and the expansion.

And no, PvP in GW1 was not an even playing field. You still had to manually unlock the vast majority of skills, or you could take out your credit card and buy them all, thus bypassing the grind for either faction or in PvE-playing. A new account that just started playing had only a very basic skill-bar unlocked in PvP, not everything as you seem to imply.

How is being able to buy the best weapon in GW2 by trading gems for gold any more of an advantage than to be able to pay money to unlock the skills in GW1? You are also ignoring the fact that you could buy mercenary heroes in GW1, which basically made it possible to create AI-parties that were 100% impossible without paying.

I get that people dislike Living Story.
But can’t you at least be truthful when you complain about it?

There have been multiple maps added in sPvP, they have also revamped the whole reward system and added the reward tracks.

WvW have gotten a completely new map with new systems, a completely new progression system which is still added to. Changes to the borderlands maps also happened.

Dungeons: New dungeon was added, and have since been updated with both new rewards, new instances and new systems. They have also added a new path to one the old dungeons and completely revamped another one of them.

Sure, you can dislike the current direction of the game, but completely ignoring stuff just because it doesn’t fit in your argument won’t really help your case.

I hate it when people use that lame excuse. Yes they do need to make money and they are making tons of it.
Arenanet already showed they could make money off just selling the game with out a real money store or a subscription needed. Now they are doing the same business model plus they have the real money store. They should being doing extremely better and have plenty of resources to invest in the game and not just the store. The only reason they wouldn’t be making that money now is because people are tired of spending money on a stagnant game. If they want to be stubborn and keep saying we know you really enjoyed the game at launch but that is all the content we are ever going to give you except for the LS and gemstore, then the game is going to die. The game already is getting a bad reputation on the internet. How bad does it have to get before some positive change happen here?

If the bold part is referring to Guild Wars 1 you are missing the fact that it did have a in-game store for the vast majority of its life. Which contained actual in-game advantages no less.

How so I wonder? Unless they ping it no one else will know they have it. I wouldn’t think there would be 300 plus role players in game whose story includes a white coral ring.
Maybe role players are the answer. It just seems odd that it would have such a high price for something that’s barely cosmetic.

I would assume people might use it for gifts or as wedding rings or something. It is not unusual for people to pay silly amounts for completely useless stuff in-games just in order to make certain things more special or something like that ^^

its not a question of they need to make money, that’s a given, its a question of what path do they follow to make that money, and its appeared for a long time as tho its all about the easiest way to turn a buck off its player base. GW1 also had to make money, they went about it a different way and that’s what made Anet the initial success it was, the anet of today is a somewhat soulless version of its former self, and I know what your gonna say – that they have 5 times the employees of the initial Anet so they need to make more money to pay ppl…well in that case they should’ve of released 5 times the content, but theyre not doing that are they? not when there’s an easier way to make money through the cash shop.

Indeed. GW1 went with the whole buy actual power for real money instead.

Comparing a lobby-based game with an open-world game is also quite silly, since the costs are completely different.

It is also quite likely that it takes way more time to create and release content for a game like this compared to a game like GW1.

You also have to keep in mind that their original plan was new campaigns every six months, a plan that only ever worked on time. And quite soon after the original release they saw that it would not work and thus abandoned it.
If it had worked so well as people here love to claim, why didn’t they use the same model for GW2?

You are also aware that we have had updates more or less monthly (at least) for most of the games life, that did not focus on gem-store?

At this point we’ll need a patch only to fix the bugs introduced with the feature patch

Bug-fixes are added when they are done.
If they have a certain bug two days before a patch, they will add it to the patch, not wait three months until the next Feature Pack.

The real problem is: in 2 weeks we’ll have a patch for halloween, then the LS.
When they’re going to fix every bug introduced with the feature patch, ’till another feature patch?

You are aware that they usually do release fixes with the Living Story patches as well, right?

I have yet to see a single patch that did not involve some sort of rebalancing or fixing.

But it will effect other parts of the game as well, will it not?

Those people doing SAB will not be running dungeons or doing sPvP or WvW. There will also be yet another influx of those weapons/backpacks from SAB out in the world and so on.

I think having Charr as a playable race was the biggest failure ANet made in regards
of creating new armor. At least i have the feeling we would have much more skins
now if they didn’t had to bother with the Charr.

Or Asura or Norn.
The only ones that actually have the same physics as humans are the Sylvari more or less. Sure Norn are quite similar, but they still need to work on them on their own rather than just increasing the size of the human armors.

1. its 2000g, even if you broke the rules and bought gold (perhaps ending in a ban) it’d still cost you a small fortune.

2. there are only 18 remaining on the TP,
as each one sells the price goes higher and higher.
i’d wager there are less than 100 in total in banks waiting to be sold, and there are hundreds of thousands of players.
once they’re gone they’re gone.

they are far more prestigious than these “legendary” weapons you’ll see 20 people standing around with in the cities.

but lets face it, they’ll probably ruin it and trivialize the halloween skins just like everything else.

You are aware that you are able to “buy gold” in a legit way, right?

As to your point two you show exactly WHY they should be brought back.
Having something that is tradable but no longer obtainable is usually not a good thing.

Complaining about clipping in GW2 while referencing GW1 is quite silly. Despite the fact that GW1 only had one race to build their armors for, the clipping there is quite massive, after almost 10 years.

And just porting armors over doesn’t really work either, seeing as they would have to completely rebuild them and change them to fit all races, which is quite large amount of work.

you can’t play from GW2 but you can sell from GW2, if they sell GW1 trough the gem store then you can end up with GW1 accounts already linked to GW2 and Anet has quite a big profit from it in the end.

It is however rather unlikely that they would want to sell something in the in-game store of a game that is not used in said game.

And no, I don’t think they will get any more profit than they currently do from GW1, might actually be quite the opposite with people raging about some people being able to get it completely for free.

I must say: I do not really see the point sending an email telling me I can get my now rewards there and there. Sending the rewards directly via this email would have been the better solution.

Which they did during the first tournaments, and there were issues with it with people not receiving the correct mail (or a mail at all) which created massive kittenstorms. So clearly that didn’t work out well either.

The ideal solution would be to make the rewards be able to be received as soon as you earn the achievement. They give out chests through the achievement system once an achievement is gained why can’t it be done in this case?

And how would that work with the current system where the reward is based on placement in the finished match-up?

To be fair (even though there seems to be some weirdness with the changes) the orb in Fort Trinity have always magically appeared over there, no matter which story path you choose. Same with basically everything in Orr, it happens even if you go with another solution.

And the fact still remains that you don’t even have to buy it even if you miss the free period, you can join someone else that have it unlocked without any sort of issues.

Can’t or won’t put the effort in?

Anyways, overall I think they’ve managed rewards better this season if we look at how the rewards were handled previously, but previous management of rewards hardly set a good precedence.

My friend was saying he thinks he forgot to collect his reward last week, despite doing what was needed which sucks for him.

People can say its your fault you didn’t collect, which is true however that doesn’t change the fact people feel annoyed and frustrated with missing out over something that could be managed better by ANet.

Can’t with the current setup. But then again, why waste the effort when people would still find something to complain about no matter how they did it?

I would think that they simply CAN’T save the rewards at the battle-historian, seeing as you can transfer server in the middle of the tournament and as such it would probably kitten up the whole system if someone transferred.

Sure they could use mails, which they did earlier, and there were massive kittenstorms every time due to some people not getting their mail.

And to be fair it is very clear in-game (and outside for that matter) that you have one week to get the rewards.

There are now references to events and actions in the aftermath of the removed chapters, which the player never experienced. So those chapters need to be restored.

To be fair that was the case before as well.
I still had the Orb in Fort Trinity even if I had never seen the Orb before and so on.
The other parts (and I assume also the now removed parts) happens even if you personally don’t play them.

All x options does seem to happen during the invasion of Orr, despite which one you choose.

Well, guilds have been updated to fully support the Megaserver system now, so what server s/he is on really doesn’t matter. They’ll have access to everything now either way. :P

Depends on the guild.
If they are a WvW-focused guild it is rather useful if everyone is on the same server.

K… let me rephrase, a gemshop item that is the MAIN way of getting sprockets into the game is a horrible idea. My reasoning for it being the main method is because in a home instance you collect a few per day, but with the pick you can collect as many as you want.

But it isn’t the main way.
The main way is killing Aetherblades and mining the Sprocket Node in the home instance. Sure the Node only gives a couple each day, but at least you are guaranteed to get them.

If you trust your computer’s integrity and to not get any keyloggers or something. There is programs you can download to use. Like WinAuth. I use it for some games and it works fine.

Other options outside of smart phone is a tablet or iPod touch that offers app abilities.

That would however basically completely remove the whole point of the Mobile Authenticator.

I think Anet should consider putting in a VIP system, much like how China has. I’m more than willing to pay extra money for extra benefits. People willing to spend X amount each month helps NCSoft/Anet’s bottom line, and would be completely optional. Players who don’t want to participate can still play the game as normal. It’s a win/win situation for all.

Did you see the reaction on these forums when the VIP-data was data-mined before they announced it for China?

People think you get a better deal when you go F2P or B2P with a cash shop. You don’t when it comes down to it.

This is one reason why.

Cash shops are a freaking corruption of MMO’s.
