The problem with this is that if they do, they would have to move the whole schedule, which would most likely be rather annoying/time-consuming and it would also kill those sites that shows when events happen.

A DDoS attack has absolutely nothing to do with viruses. Basically some idiot in his mother’s basement takes it upon himself to use a program to bombard the servers with information till the server can’t handle anymore, which will cause said server to crash. There is no way to block it or prepare for it.

Actually it does.
DDOS usually uses infected computers in order to boost the power of said DDOS. It is rather hard for a single computer (or even a small group) to work fast enough to crash a server.

For people that actually do play hardcore WvW these changes ARE big. It will increase the ability to coordinate massively and might very well change the dynamics of the game quite a bit.

For pugs or people that mainly do casual WvW however, I can understand why it would look like a small insignificant change.

My “ire” comes mostly for the 3-week blog post schedule to say absolutely nothing new. For that, why don’t they just spend these resources in making more features? Why WASTE the time in making useless blog posts?

You are assuming:

1: That the majority of the player-base actually watches all interviews and so on and thus knows everything about this already.
That is not the case. For someone that does not follow the forums/reddit/twitter/facebook this is completely new information.

2: That writing the blogs are done by people that would otherwise build new features.

3: That building new features takes as little time as writing a blog post.

4: That people will accept being told nothing at all about the Feature Pack before it is released.

sometimes i feel that they have all moved away from Guild wars 2 and are concentrating on Wildstar..

i feel this because of the lack of communication and Dodging the questions in interviews

Wouldn’t really make any sense at all though. Seeing as Wildstar is developed by Carbine Studios while Guild Wars 2 is developed by ArenaNet, which are two completely different companies that does not share employees.

Do we know that? If I remember correctly they once consulted with some sPvPers about skill balancing but to take that and propose that some kind of hidden council of players exists seems a bit far fetched to me. Why hide that kind of thing?

There were quite some controversy back in the days when one of the users of said hidden forum did post screen-shots and quotes from said forum. Which would very much indicate that said forum did (at least at that point) exist.

Why not hide it? If it were open people would whine about not being allowed to see what was going on in there and not being a part of it and so on. It would also making quite a bit harder to hold a NDA if people were aware of which users had access and so on.

It probably wouldn’t, you’d have some members saying that it was ok and others saying that it wasn’t but I think the main reason for having this kind of group would be so that this kind of discussion (and any outcome from it) would be had before the feature was implemented so that it could feed into the design of that feature. As it is any discussion or feedback is too late to affect anything now.

But that is only the case because you are assuming that there are no such group. Which we already know that there at least were at one time and nothing suggests it is no longer exists.

If there exists a player feedback device that did not throw a fit over 300 gold per commander tag color, that feedback device is not working properly.

Why?
It is a completely optional improvement that will not change the dynamics of the game.
Just because YOU don’t see a reason behind it, doesn’t mean others don’t.

Fact remains that even on these forums in open threads people have been stating that they don’t have an issue with the cost. So why would a closed group be different?

If this exists and is active, either the players are not giving the right feedback, Anet is not giving enough detail to get the right feedback, or the feedback that is being given is being ignored.

And who are you to decide what is right feedback?
Right is a matter of opinion. Something that you feel is right might be the completely opposite for a couple of other people and so on.

why on earth are they doing an interview than ? literally , the only thing the community learned from this interview was that anet has some skill in dodging questions and their incompetence when it comes to knowing what the community wants

And they did tell us stuff that have (more or less) been announced already.
It is fully possible (and even likely) that they would have told us much more if the interview was done a day or two before the Feature Patch when all the blogs were revealed.

Had they announced something new in said interview, there would be a massive kittenstorm on these forums about how they don’t use their own site to announce and reveal things and so on.
But then again, the same thing seems to happen no matter what they do.

The fact is that we KNOW that they at least at one point after release DID have a player-based feedback group. Which may or may not have been scrapped after some people in said group started spreading secret and NDA:ed information from said group.

If they really had decided to never re-open SAB, why wouldn’t they simply outright state it?

I seem to recall them saying something about features not being released during Living Story updates either, and seeing as we are having a Feature Patch quite soon we are getting more features. Why assume that this, which is said in more or less the same way, means the end of SAB when it quite clearly didn’t mean the end to new features?

You don’t NEED a commander tag to play WvW. Heck you don’t even need a commander tag to command. Sure it helps, but it is in no way required.

If he is a good leader it would be rather easy for him to get people to sponsor the tag (it is happening quite often already).

Coming back from a long time away from the game or just starting it up is not really a position to command from anyway for that matter. A good commander needs experience and good understanding of the CURRENT WvW, not WvW from 1 year ago.

But then again, some parts of the community is up in arms about every single thing every announced or talked about.

It is mainly the same people writing in all of those threads complaining about this change after all, so I wouldn’t really say the community overall (not even the forum one) is up in arms about it.

But if they translated the subtitles for one language, shouldn’t they also do it for every other language where the game is available? All of a sudden they have hundreds of different languages that they need to hire people for.

It is also rather unlikely that people would be content with only translated subtitles and would demand translated voice-overs as well, which would require hiring a massive amount of people to do the voice-work.

I am assuming that they (having the numbers and such) have figured out that removing the gold sink from buying multiple tags would hit the economy too much, despite the increasing the price. And as such they added an alternative gold sink to try and keep it more balanced. Simple as that.

Nope, you need to login to the game.

The current episode does seems to be unlockable until the Feature Patch though, which is on September 9.

If you miss the window of free unlocks you can unlock it from the Hero Tab for 200 gems at any time you are logged into the game.

Yep.
If you miss the window when an episode is available you will need to buy it for 200 gems to have access to it.

You could also join someone that does have it unlocked if you only want to see the story.

Translating a game takes time and a rather large amount of money (especially since it would most likely also require voiced lines to be translated), and as such spending said money (and hiring new employees for that very purpose (since they release new stuff all the time they would need constant translations)) might not really be valid unless they can guarantee that they will earn more than it will cost.
Which is extremely unlikely.

Even if the italian population of GW2 would double, that is most likely still not enough money to actually earn more than it would cost.

We get it. People dislike when stuff doesn’t happen exactly like they want it to happen. But the fact remains that ArenaNet sits on the numbers, they have a better understanding of the economy of the game and stuffs like that than anyone of us here on the forums.

Maybe they simply figured out that making the tags account-bound would remove such a high amount of gold removal even with the increased price that they had to add alternatives?

And please, don’t talk for the community as a whole, since you quite clearly don’t speak for everyone.

Keep in mind that you also get rather many rewards during the course of the episodes and should consider those parts of the same reward when comparing it to lets say Living Story S1, seeing kitten mainly had only one reward for completing the meta.

Since the armors skins are in-game items there shouldn’t really be any issues with that.

As I said before, there is nothing special about the Ascended Armors. They only require time to be crafted, nothing else. On top of that, most people were hugely displeased with their aesthetics and instantly reskinned them.

But it does require exactly what you wanted the PvE exclusive set to require. As stated in your original post:

I wish Anet would introduce an equally prestegius armor set, that could be craftable through PVE rewards and activities. I wouldn’t even mind paying 100 pristine relics per piece.

The Ascended Armor sets require either getting lucky and getting chests from specific content.
Or being crafted, which require doing multiple types of specific content.

They exist even if you don’t like them.

- make it accountbound
—- refund all tags above 1
—- remove the compendium (refund not used ones) and make it a purchase by talking to the NPC instead. When already purchased for your account, he will of course state that. This is to avoid issues with purchasing multiple items that are per account. Not to mention the compendium is so redundant as an item.
- option to change between colors

And thats what they could have done to enable colors and accountbound. No price increase. No refund issues. Of course I’d still complain that we want icon change, name tagging and private switch… but I would be happy with the changes regardless.

Does anyone disagree?

So, people should not only get refunds for everything over 1 tag, but they should also get the account-bound tag for a third the price of the new ones?

I can see quite a few people complaining about that to be honest.

I made Tome of Rubicon waaaaay back when it was introduced. I bought an entire stack of Ancient Bone and I think the most gold I had before that was 70. Imagine if I tried to make it now, good lord.

I wonder if they will ever be able to do anything at all that will not lead to people complaining like mad.
Heck I am almost certain that even if it was added and given for free people would still find something to complain about.

The price is steep, but it is in no way impossible to get.
300g is rather easy to get nowadays, especially when we no longer have repair costs, which basically means that the only thing that drains money in WvW is upgrades (since you can get siege with badges).

The problem is that there need to be gold sinks, and I know that I personally prefer a gold sink like this than something that would be “forced” upon my for simply playing (such as repair costs).

We always hear about how there have been no new armor-sets since release, despite we getting a full one at the very least and a rather large bunch of parts for others.

Personally I see the reason for this.

They are decreasing the gold sink that is Commander tags (despite increasing the price) quite a bit, since it is rather usual for commanders to buy multiple tags to put up depending on situation, now they only need to buy one.
So for every commander that would use more than 3 different characters the gold sink is decreased with the new change.

And as such another gold sink would be needed to counter-act this. While I agree that 300g might be a bit steep, I think it is good for the economy of the game overall.

One thing that they should do however, is to allow everyone that does have a tag prior to the update to choose which color they want after the update, so that they could organize between different commanders on the server.

The problem with having a flat price for it would be inflation.

100g today is MUUUUCH easier to get than 100g at release.

So unless they actively changed the price based on the current value of gold (which is exactly how the TP works) it wouldn’t really work out that well.
