Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Actually, the way it was worded: "we’ll be opening up more opportunities for players to win the right to wear this prestigious set. "
It sounds more like it is going to be the reward for other tournaments, rather than through some other method.
I suppose that is a matter of opinion.
I read it as it will, some time in the future, be available in other ways.
But time will tell.
Because tournaments only happen once in a blue moon and require you to not only be good at PvP, but for your team to be good at it too. Dungeons are always in the game and it usually only takes 10-30 minutes to complete a dungeon. You can also get dungeon armor through spamming hot joins in PvP if you really don’t want to do a dungeon.
And the very thing you quoted did make it sound like you will be able to get them in the future without joining Tournaments. So how is it any different?
Most dungeons does not take 10-30 minutes to complete, and even if they would it takes a rather high number in order to get a full set of armor.
And it was added to sPvP rather long after release, so why was it not unfair before that, but now that the things are specific for PvP it is super-unfair even before it is released?
Edit: Found this on the website.
“For now, this armor set will only be available to our All-Star competitors, but in the future we’ll be opening up more opportunities for players to win the right to wear this prestigious set. " https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/your-vote-decides-the-guildwars2-international-all-stars-teams/Still very unfair.
How is that any more unfair than forcing people to do dungeons in order to get dungeon armor for quite some time?
When does a thread become a necroed thread anyway? Is 5 months and 30 days OK but 6 months and 1 day NOT OK? It makes no sense from an ethical perspective to allow one and not the other.
They have to draw the line somewhere though.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
Not really, most people love EOTM design and they are just disappointed because it doesn’t count for normal WvW PPT, therefore having no objective to pursue the “Karma train” became the objective.
Are they?
I seem to recall that people specifically didn’t WANT it to count for real match-ups simply because it mashed all servers together into one and the fact that even before that it would give massive advantages to those that already had more players than their opponents.
So you think it’s ok to delete the post or give an infraction to someone because they wondered why 1 year after being told “The orbs are coming back” they haven’t?
From the look of it different people bumped those threads. In your opinion free speech has a 1 year time frame?
Isn’t that just the thing though?
The vast majorities of the necros are made by people that do it knowingly and often posts rather irrelevant posts to the thread in question, which would make much more sense as a new thread.
It is usually people that have been complaning for quite some time that do necro the threads to “make a point” after all.
Another thing to keep in mind is that free speech is not really working well in a PRIVATELY OWNED forum. They own the forum. They make the rules. Accept it or move on.
^ Maybe the issue is that during testing people loved EOTM but more or less as soon as it was released people were whining like mad about how much it sucked and how it wasn’t WvW and so on?
Maybe that made them decide against player-testing due to the fact that it apparently didn’t give a correct image about what people actually wanted.
Oh no! If they shutdown the forums where would we go to communicate with the dev’s about all the upcoming changes to WvW? Oh wait…
It is so cute when people seems to imply that they never listen to feedback.
Every single change made to WvW after release was based on feedback and stuff demanded on these forums.
A progression system in WvW – WXP ranks added.
A new map – EOTM added.
A way to play WvW while maps are queued – EOTM added.
A way to join EB JP without queuing for EB – Make OS a separate map joinable from everywhere.
Able to see queue-size – Add said information to the interface.
A place for GvG – Remove stat-bonuses from OS.
How is this not listening to feedback?
They most likely added it this way in order for people to be able to focus on the story the first time around.
Which makes sense seeing as it is rather common that people complain about how the story is badly presented and doesn’t make sense, due to them not actually paying attention.
3:
The amount of negativity and toxicity was massive as soon as he posted the first time.
It is not something that suddenly game with his lack of posting. But rather the reason for his lack of posting (most likely).
The thing is that if they ever tell us about something they are planning, people take it is a solid promise that will never change and will be implemented the very next week. And as such they have stopped telling us about it, to annoy the massive amounts of spam when things change or are not released at once.
We HAVE gotten quite a bit of stuff in WvW, since release. But we have to keep in mind that developing stuffs in WvW most likely is much harder and take more time than PvE, especially since it is very likely that the WvW team is much smaller than the PvE-team(s) due to more people playing PvE.
Well, at least they did give us a warning.
The main issue with too much necroing (except for the fact that it is extremely silly, and doesn’t help anyone) is that it might very well end up with ArenaNet simply shutting down the forums, instead of having to spend the extra time to lock thread upon thread upon thread due to completely irrelevant necros.
Which is why anet will loose me and possible others as their miniature customers.
So why are you still here after the Mr. Sparkles thing?
It took quite a long time after it was released at cons until it was made available (for a limited time no less) with the gem-deal.
Wouldn’t that have made you leave as well? Seeing as it is basically the exact same situation (as far as we know).
And what about the seasonal mini? What if you can’t play at a certain time, or simply started playing after they were gone forever?
This is not the first, nor will it be the last, time they have released limited available minis.
And yet before megaservers some events were completely impossible to even do, due to lack of people.
I for one prefer to have badly scaling events to impossible events. But that might only be me.
You are aware that necroing old threads just makes you look silly and will not help in the slightest with your goal, right?
It is much more likely that they will simply shut down the forums completely, rather than having to do extra work due to some people necroing threads with completely irrelevant posts.
Your post is also blatant lying.
We have gotten multiple WvW updates since release.
Some of them bigger than most PvE updates.
I think the main vines or at least the veteran ones should count for plant slayer. Tendrils are merely off shoots.
Not if they are Dragon….
Or maybe, just maybe it is a bug?
You also seem to imply that you did play a bit after leaving WvW, which would count-down the timer, seeing as it is always active while you are logged in on the character.
Depends on how long the track is.
If the track would take twice or trice the amount of the regular tracks I would say it would be rather fair.
Actually this game was made with the ability of CHOICE.
Every single part of the Personal Story (except the last one) had the CHOICE to play solo or in group.
Most most events out in the world have the CHOICE of playing solo or as a group.
Hopefully they won’t add it to the Gem Store and if they do they should add it the same way as Mr. Sparkles.
The better way would be to add it to a reward track in PvP, which makes it obtainable by everyone, but still requires PvP to get.
Not sure why people are so eager to put Anet’s failures on NCSoft. Is it out of loyalty to GW1? .. NCSoft already owned Anet when GW1 came out.
Probably because NCSoft is the “boss”. They decide how much money ArenaNet gets to work with and how much time they get to spend on stuff before release and so on. And as such, it makes sense for people to complain about NCSofts involvement.
Which is rather silly, seeing as the very same people seems to talk about how awesome GW1 was, and yet GW1 would never even exist without NCSoft.
Just a side question, since our character “already knew” the name of Mordremoth, do we also knwo then ame of the Deep Sea Dragon? How is it called?
Yes. Yes we do.
It is called Bubbles, Destroyer of Worlds.
To answer the question in the title:
Because LS1 was a test. They were experimenting on stuffs that had not been done before, and as such they didn’t have a clear line about where to go.
They got loads of feedback during that time and as such they could change stuff to work better with the player-base.
As for the post: The lore of most things in the game was probably decided upon more or less before release or soon after.
But having lore for something doesn’t really mean much, seeing as writing lore most likely take way less time than building a map. Or programming a new kind of fight. Or creating new mobs or events.
I find it rather unlikely that they had plans for adding most of Maguuma as early as release. Since that would basically mean that most of Tyria would be available right at the start, with very little to expand and build upon.
And every time someone brings this up and complain about it. They get yet another reason to never tell us anything at all about anything.
Good job.
Well, feel free to give us a video where you and one or two others takes down the Shatterer or Claw of Jormag or Tequatl or the Evolved Wurm
Asmodeus, please, enlighten me: how is doing events in which there are 1 massive legendary mob with 2-3 players fun?
Yes, the Charr account.
Doesn’t that also fit rather well with the story of the HUMAN that was murdered by Adelbern around that time?
I seem to recall them saying it will be possible to obtain them in the future (probably through some sort of reward-track or something I would think).
And to be fair, what else could they have given them? If there had been no rewards people would have complained just as much.
No matter what they do people will complain.
Show us all that evidence please.
Play GW1.
It is made rather clear there during the duration of the Campaign.
Claiming the mad Adelbern was created specifically for GW2 is quite silly. Unless you want to claim that GW2 was already planned when Prophecies was released.
Adelbern WAS mad, long before GW2 was announced, and it is show rather clearly in the Prophecies campaign and the Titan Missions.
He was broken by the Searing.
So busy that the whole Anet team is working on it and every other aspect of the game is left behind.
And it is comments like this that stops the devs from posting on the forums.
Good job.
I was under the impression that Mordremoth wasn’t known before now, so it really shattered my immersion when my character suddenly named him and the biconics reacted as if it was common knowledge.
Well we have known since release that there were 6 Dragons.
Zhaitan, Jormag, Kralkatorik, Primordus and two not named ones.
One which is Bubbles and the other which is Mordemoth.
So the number of Dragons have always been consistent, but they should indeed have given us an actual source for the name.
And I think they did, in the original S1 ending, but didn’t think about fixing S2 when they changed said ending.
Yes, but what if it was just a day or even less than a day since the attack on Concordia?
THAT is the point. Time in-world is usually not the same as time in the real world.
Just because there are two weeks before releases, doesn’t mean two weeks pass in-world.
Sadly it only works in town and outposts though.
Well, we are there.
We are a commander of the Pact.
And as such, the Pact have sent people to investigate. Right?
The fact still remains that we have no idea how long time have passed in-world since the defeat of Scarlet.
It could have been months or it could just have been a couple of weeks, which would not be enough time to scramble the Pact.
A good argument for injecting some life into GW (update/balance/development/content-wise) would be the Hall of Monuments, as some GW2 players actually do purchase the original for the HoM points, and forcing hero-way onto them start on can leave a bad aftertaste while giving a very inaccurate impression of the game as a whole.
But to be fair the HoM rewards were originally made in order to reward people that played GW1 before GW2s release (I even seem to recall that they did state at one point that after GW2 was released you would no longer be able to get more rewards via GW1, but they seem to have scrapped that idea).
The Seraph was not heading west in order to investigate rumors about a dragon. They went west in order to investigate the bandits.
But when they were there the Dragon made its move and as such they were “forced” into action against it.
You also have to keep in mind that for all we know all of S2 have only taken a day or two in-world, and as such the Pact most likely haven’t been able to scramble their forces yet.
We actually know for a fact that we are going to inform the major race leaders about the Dragon in the coming release. Which would suggest it has been a very short time since Mordemoth made its first visible move.
Is it actually confirmed that he is smashing the sword in the tomb though?
We see him enter the tomb, but is there any actual confirmations that the next clip takes place down there?
Yes. That must be it. They’re all faked.
I did not say that.
But people did ask if it was legit ex-employee feedback.
Based on the fact that anyone could write a review without ever having even lived much less worked in the area I would be a bit careful about assuming everything on the page is legit.
One thing to keep in mind on that page is that anyone could technically write a review, without ever having worked at the company. Which would suggest that it CAN be manipulated and give false information.
Did she actually state it as a fact though?
I read it as it was a THEORY. And to be fair it could make sense, seeing how the Dragons does seem to be rather far from standard fantasy Dragons.
I would think that one of the issues here is the fact that they scrapped the original ending for S1 (partly) due to it being spoiled by dataminers, which could very well have given us the name. And then simply didn’t think about it.
It is not like it is the biggest issue in the world.
Agreed. The jump from an apparently hunter-gatherer culture using wildlife as siege engines to the most advanced industrial society on Tyria has always jarred credibility with me. Particularly since Humans, in the same time frame, apparently built a town and a fort.. and not much else.
I am rather sure that the same have happened to civilizations on Earth during 250 YEARS time.
Not all ghosts. In novel “Ghosts of Ascalon” the “Claw rescue team” meets a friendly ghost who has not gone insane. In fact, he even helps by stopping his ghastly crazy comrades for some time.
Wasn’t that because said ghost was created by someone dying BEFORE the Foefire rather than being killed by it?
The reason I believe that Logan should do it is because of this family connection with his great-grand mother, Gwen Thackeray. That to me is a strong enough bond between the present and the historical Human Ascalon.
But Gwen was basically a normal person in Ascalon.
She had no power, nor did she have any real connection with the nobility. She was just an annoying kid that got caught by the Charr and then held a grudge for the rest of her life trying to kill all Charr she found.
Yes, it is one of the foundations of WvW. The ability to work together against a common enemy.
The fact that it is Rylock and not Logan Thackeray the decendant of Gwen that we first met as a child in the fields of Ascalon is a traverse in itself for many GW(1) fans including myself. But what else can we expect from the Arenanet writers who believe that the community would accept a non-human Ascalonian to complete the needed ritual redemption of their long dead past.
But as far as we know Gwen have a grand total of zero connection with nobility of the human kingdom of Ascalon, while on the other hand it is fully possible that Rytlock could be related to the former leadership.
Adding Gwen into the equation for no reason other than her being a somewhat large (and annoying) part of GW1 would be silly.
I love how about 4 months is a very long break nowadays. It is after all shorter than most releases in other games AND we did get releases during that time as well (Feature Patch, Festival of Four Winds).
As far as we know, he had severed his connection to the Dream, much like Scarlet, and as such become sensitive to the influence of Mordremoth (based on the current speculations).
Scarlet didn’t have any direct contact with Mordremoth either, until it was in her head (or whatever it was).
Which is why I wrote “useless” instead of useless.
People DID however repeatedly complain about how their second identical Legendary were becoming useless with the Wardrobe back when it was announced.
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
He might have been affected when they got closer to Mordremoths location, which would be around the time he started killing people.
Because it was added specifically for people that did craft two identical Legendaries, one which is now “useless”?
