Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
Swtor. People can hate that game all they want, but they made player characters the focus, while their companions really were secondary to you.
Well to be fair SWTOR is a single-player game with some multiplayer components and always connected to internet requirement.
Personally I prefer to have my character speak in a voice of my choice, which isn’t really possible with the pre-voiced dialogue (unless you turn off the sound), but that might be only me.
And not making decision?
I would say we are making decisions rather often.
Because it’s not fantasy anymore. It’s a Sci-Fi game.
It is very much fantasy (even if it were mainly Sci-Fi it would still be fantasy, seeing as Sci-Fi is basically a branch of Fantasy).
Yes, yes it is.
Because it sounds like that is exactly what you are saying.
Scaling does not resolve anything.
I’m asking for content that revolves around cooperation. Not just to be able to do something with other people.
So you basically want content that locks a somewhat large part of the players out?
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
The achievement is permanent.
The next update comes in less than a week.
That is way faster than most other companies when it comes to bug-fixes.
But the story instances aren’t solo only, the scale with groups, just like Personal Story. So your point is moot.
No one have ever in this thread said anything about putting story in dungeons. But putting MAIN STORYLINE CONTENT behind a grouping wall would probably not be a good idea.
You can buy full sets of armor with Karma, in Orr.
So, if they added events without talking about it, how do you know they haven’t added any?
We actually know for a fact that they HAVE added quite a bit of events since release.
I seem to recall that the first Halloween patch added at least 50 new events.
But to be a bit more constructive:
How would you suggest they make it more living?
Well to be fair you CAN do all the instances in groups (like Personal Story).
I don’t think forcing people to group in order to do story content is the way to go.
Just look at all the rage with the battle against Zhaitan in Personal Story.
In my opinion, they should’ve never created DE 2.0. They could’ve just used DE 1.0 as our sidekicks, and gave us a choice as to who we want to use for that episode. This would’ve made a stronger bond with the player and his DE 1.0 sidekick, and also creating conflicts, all while still maintaining the “hero” status. Imagine having Rytlock or Zojja by your side doing the Living Story. They could’ve been utilized so much doing it this way, by exploring their past and getting more details about DE 1.0 and their missions.
It would also make it more or less impossible to have the episodes voiced at all, due to the voice actors for DE usually being quite busy.
It would probably be both cheaper and easier to get the PC voiced again rather than getting the DE in for every single update to do voice-work.
Color me upset. GG Arenanet. I love GW2, but what you’ve done to the Charr/Ascalonian lore since GW1 sickens me.
Yes how dare they have Charr as anything but stereotypical monsters with no kind of rational thinking!
I’m wondering where everybody is getting six or eight episodes? We were told that Living World season 2 started with Gates, in fact those two episodes are labeled such here at the website, so I don’t think we’re looking at an ending just yet.
Because people assume that mid-season break is in the middle of the season? And since we would have had 4 episodes before the break, it would make sense to assume we would have another four after?
I personally don’t think it will be only 8 (unless they name the whole season the Rise of Mordremoth and then season 3 will be about handling it).
(edited by lordkrall.7241)
It is rather funny when people try to bash ArenaNet while they themselves don’t know the facts…
^ Would make sense, seeing as the article does not mention that part itself.
ONE part of the Mists is the afterlife.
Not all of it though. The Mists are basically the fabrics of the world.
So you basically want to make Guild Wars 2 a completely different game?
Might I suggest that GW2 might not be the game you are looking for?
Hmm interesting. This seems to be the only article that even talks about such a break, so a clarification would indeed be nice.
^ Well to be fair people have been wanting a solution to the “ghost problem” since release more or less.
It also works with the personal story, seeing as that is locked in time, so even if the ghosts go away in the open world they would still be able to take part in the story instances.
Hang on just a moment. Adelbern is the one who started the curse. So wouldn’t the rightful king be whoever is the rightful king in the eyes of the ghosts?
That would depend on the nature of the curse.
It has never been fully explained if the curse was tied to Adelberns power. The power of the Sword or the power of the area itself.
They can’t play it and possible not LS2 either, instead they (new players after the expansion) would play a bit different Personal Story that then goes into shortened version of awakening of Mordremoth (S1 and S2), after defeating Zhaitan…
They can, with the current system, play every episode of LS2 even if they start playing a year from now (although they would have to pay a small sum for it).
How is the current system (Mordy attacks in S2) any different from your system, other than the fact that you system forces people to face Zhaitan first?
Since I haven’t seen it posted yet is this thread:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/07/22/flameseeker-chronicles-introducing-guild-wars-2s-dragons-reac/#continuedAnd to curb some of the hype (possibly before it gets out of hand)
To be fair the hype seems to mainly have to do with Ascalon, which would not require a new part of Dry Top ^^
But yeah, overhyping is not a good idea.
I have a suspision that before the end of season two, we will find out who “E” actually is…
It have been outright stated that we will find out E’s identity during S2.
But was Adelbern ever the rightful king of Ascalon?
Currently gold sellers don’t get blocked either. Heck, Anet could block 100% of all the spam messages, if they simply filtered out any sentence that contained the word “PVPbank”. I’m staggered that they haven’t done this yet. Just filter out the name and URL they keep spamming. It’s not like they can easily change their URL every single time Anet updates the filter.
And that wouldn’t do anything.
Sure it would stop them for 20 minutes until they figure out which word is banned, and then they change their spam and we are back at square one.
It is extremely easy to redirect URLs and such nowadays, and doesn’t take much time or resources.
The only thing it would do would be to take time and resources from ArenaNet for something that won’t really fix anything.
Except we already have that problem. We have Zhaitan representing death, mordremoth as life, Primordus as fire, Kralkatorrik as earth, and then the unnamed underwater dragon and Jormag both representing water. All of the classical elements are represented except air, because water is represented twice. One could say Jormag represents air, except that his powers are always represented by frozen water.
Why assume they most fit the standard elementals?
Zhaitan – Death.
Mordremoth – Earth/Plants
Prímordus – Fire
Krally – Crystal/Wind (it is more wind than Earth I would say, due to the Lightning that keeps coming up near its crystals)
Jormag – Ice
Bubbles – Water
if there isnt a ban list then there isnt a ban.that the rule in online games
I have personally never seen a list of people that got banned in any game I have played, and I have played rather many online games.
Isn’t the map limits exactly the same as it was before the mega-server?
Guesting does effect where you end up, but it does not guarantee that you will end up with the majority of the guested server.
Might actually be a good idea.
People do seem to love shouting about GW1 after all, so a forum for that might clean up the main forums quite a bit.
Have people ever played Dune and Dune 2? ^^
But why to people feel the need to react to a SINGLE SENTENCE in a multiple paragraph post instead of actually comment on the majority of the post?
Fact still remains that they only ever managed the six month release schedule ONCE in FOUR major releases, not every release, as the OP tried to imply.
The main problem is that scaling doesn’t work as well as we (and ArenaNet) would like. And as such it would either be way too hard for upscaled characters anyway, or it would be faceroll for lvl 80 characters. And none of those two situations are good, which makes the current version the best one.
It is supposed to be the new end-game after all.
Technically, he was right. However, splitting that hair is a useless point. These campaigns offered many things other games’ expansions offered, and in some cases, more.
And yet the main point I was trying to make (which everyone seems to ignore because I dared to call the campaigns for campaigns rather than expansions) was that there was only ever ONE of their releases that hit the 6 months apart mark, rather than all of them, which the OP suggested.
I can almost guarantee you that we could easily found stuff long before Mass Effect that did more or less the exact same thing. But I suppose that doesn’t count?
A little play on semantics there, not worth the all caps. Yes, one expansion, and 2 “Campaigns” that were essentially as large as traditional mmo expansions, but standalone.
Declaring “Blatantly False” is exaggeration, and based upon a very narrow interpretation of a box label.
The blatantly false part was more to the second part of my post, about how they didn’t actually release new campaigns every six months except in one case.
People always keeps tossing the whole one expansion every six months when they talk about GW1.
This is blatantly false.
Firstly there was only one expansion, that that was released MORE THAN TWO YEARS after Prophecies.
Secondly only one of the releases had the stated six month gap, and that was between Factions and Nightfall while the time between Prophecies and Factions was almost exactly one year, and the time between Nightfall and Eye of the North was about 10,5 months.

Not naturally, though.
As far as we know.
But the fact still remains that being corrupted by one Elder Dragon does not give you immunity to another.
Sorry to disappoint but E is a male. I remember reading the side story for Marjory and it was mentioned that this E had a deep voice. I think it’s an unknown character, but we yet have to see.
Yeah, because in a world where you use magic to become invisible or completely change your appearance it would be impossible to simply alter your voice (which is fully possible to do even in the real world), right?
This could have been the case. If not for the fact that we have had creatures corrupted by multiple dragons in-game since release.
All parts of Season 2 are replayable.
I dont think she’s lesbian. I think she’s a trisexual, you know, will try anything. Reason being? She freakin flirts with every single person she talks to, regardless of gender or race.
To be fair there are people like that in the real world. They are flirty with everyone, but yet have no interest in the vast majority of them. That is simply how their personality works.
Don’t forget in GW world there’re ghosts and Mist. It can be very likely that durman priory could have summon Scarlet’s spirit back to Tyria to jack information from her.
It’ is also very likely that the Jungle Dragon could have turn her into his champion and fight us once more., consider how much connection she and the Jungle Dragon are.
We don’t know what happens when a Sylvari die though.
Another thing to keep in mind is that we saw no Norn, Charr or Asura in the Mists (and the Charr hit by the Foefire outright died, while the Humans become ghosts, which might suggest that Ghosts is a strictly Human condition).
Would be a bit weird to have two Dragons with very similar powers (both Mordy and Tree have powers connected to plants and nature.)
well the shining blade aren’t getting anywhere near the maguuma in the foreseeable future. they’re the queen’s guard now. and so far, any corrupted sylvari were in the maguuma in order to be corrupted.
on the other hand, there’s that whole talk about “leaders will die”.
Well to be fair we do have some new information of that Locket, and it would be fully possible that it somehow got to Maguuma and the Shining Blade went their to get it back.
As stated previously I also don’t like that one specific group has answers to everything. Players/character in game could at least entertain idea that Asura or other race in spotlight may be mistaken in their believes, like it was shown with Humans or Chars.
But for some reason it was totally okay that the Humans were 100% correct about everything in GW1?
We don’t KNOW if the Asura point of view is correct or not. It might be correct AT THIS TIME but in a couple of hundred years be confirmed to be faulty.
Just like how it is and always have been in the real world.
Let me tell you: you’re wrong. People hated the fact that the Karka event was a one time occurence and they couldn’t get the reward when they’ve missed that event. All the others participating who got the reward… I know no one who gets rewarded with exotics and says: “I hate this, give me greens and blues!!”
About the rewards for completing the story once, I fail to see how this is a problem. They just have to make sure that this is a one-time reward which can’t be farmed and which is account-wide. That’s all.
But not everyone got Precurors, while many others did, which was rather hated. Some didn’t even get useful Exotics (I for one got 2 lvl 76 daggers on my lvl 80 Mesmer).
So you should only get rewards for doing the story on one of your characters then? Do you really think people would accept that? People are already complaining about how bad things are for people with alts and so on. Limiting the rewards in such a way would not be liked.
But why assume that the Eternal Alchemy is true? It is fully possible that in 250 year it will have the same status as the Human Gods have today.
It is also possible that the machine doesn’t show us the Eternal Alchemy at all, but we are just assuming it is.
tl:dr
I think they skimmed through. If they played more attentively they wouldn’t use nearly same graphic for Realm of Torment and “Pale Tree + six Elder Dragons”/“Eternal alchemy”.
Why not?
Maybe it is actually done on purpose?
why is it not possible to give everyone a guaranteed exotic once for completing an episode? If the problem is named trading post, then simply make it accountbound. Why not? They did it for the ancient Karka, everyone loved it and the world still worked fine.
Because getting a guaranteed Exotic for as little “work” required to complete the instances would not be proportional to the time it takes to get them in other ways?
And no, people hated the fact that the Karka event gave away exotics (and precursors) at such a high rate.
