Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
But it have been blocking progress to story since release as well, and yet there doesn’t seem to have been any issues until now.
Did people suddenly get much worse at jumping? Or was it simply the fact that they could find nothing else to complain about with the update?
Totally missing the points which were brought up.
1.) it’s not really about jumping puzzles, but ‘jumping’ in general which is now forced upon players who have difficulties with that.
2.) it’s not just about not willing to improve jumping skills, but rather about not being able to jump, due to several “limitations”
3.) it’s not about complaining, but rather pointing out that the current state of the game, is locking players out.
And yet this have been the case for TWO YEARS how come it is suddenly such an issue?
It is working as intended. You are supposed to attack him on your own while the NPCs “handle the stuff on the ground”.
re: How did you complete the Personal Story especially if you went with Priory? – I didn’t choose the Priory. Thank you for letting us know that’s a bad choice for people with jumping difficulties.
You missed the point.
There have been stuff like this (and much worse) in “required places” since release, so why is it suddenly an issue now?
How did you complete the Personal Story especially if you went with Priory?
Well most people that complain here have constantly stated that before this release it was always optional and did not hinder progression of the story, which is rather clearly totally false.
LS1 started out with the release of the game, TONS of zones to explore and things to discover, then the LS1 episodes brought new meaning to these zones, bringing us back to them to enjoy them in new ways.
Wait.. so LS1 is allowed to count all of the original zones in the game (despite none of them actually was created specifically for the Living Story) but LS2 is not?
That is rather silly.
LS1 had 1 permanent zone that was directly released due to Living Story, and that was Southsun Cove.
LS2 have also had 1 permanent zone released, and it have only just started.
People seem to use the arguments about this locking access to the Living Story, which it didn’t before.
Didn’t you play at Cutthroat Politics? That was very much part of the Living Story and it required you to get to the very top of the Sanctum. How come that wasn’t a problem (it actually required way more jumping and “skill” than the new map).
It was explained in the story that many of the corpses found sustained injuries prior to reaching the surface of Dry Top. Hence, they were slaughtered before the crash.
I am aware of that.
We do however KNOW that at least one of the victims were killed on the ground, since there were a witness to that one.
No hearts. No world bosses. One champion. Two waypoints. It’s a tiny corridor, nothing more.
There are several zones that doesn’t have world bosses.
Hearts were most likely not added simply because they are not needed (they were added late in development due to people not having a clue about where to go, and one would hope/assume people do know that by the time they hit level cap.)
It MIGHT become available down the line, but it would probably take quite some time, seeing as it was not created with the Journal in mind.
Only if they were account bound please? This character binding on LS is a whole new level of alt hate.
Achievements are account bound. They have always been.
The character binding of the LS is simply due to it basically being a continuation of the personal story, which was also progressed on a character basis rather than account.
Well, since the story marks itself as complete once you finish that part, yes, I’m pretty sure. Other things you can do around Dry Top are supplements to the main story as it is being presented.
It is the ending of the first CHAPTER. It is not the ending of the whole book so to speak.
well there are story achievements (hardcore) and zone achievements (casuals)
Several of the zone achievements are rather hard such as the JP and the diving one.
Because if it weren’t people would whine about being unable to access certain items?
People got over the Meta-achievement skins, no? It felt awesome to me when I finally had my Molten Gloves.
The meta-achievements are usually very easy to complete though. The challenge achievements are not.
and why are there only generic rewards for completing the hardcore story achievements?
Because if it weren’t people would whine about being unable to access certain items?
There is also a nice slip up with steam creatures themselves. In season 1 it was stated, that Scarlet reverse engineered the steam machines, while in season 2 the story tells us she has created them.
Bit of a contradiction, I’d say.
Was it stated by Scarlet herself though? As far as I remember it was just ASSUMED to be the case, never confirmed directly by Scarlet.
You mean the set that is simply another Ascended stat-set? And as such use the exact same system as the other Ascended pieces?
I would say that is actually a rather good thing. Can you imagine how much rage we would have if all of a sudden a specific stat-set had a completely new and unique skin and as such “forced” people into either using those stats or getting Transmutation Charges?
^ It is not random. The crystals are timed.
Yes, all but Zojaa turned up and had some voice-overs in Season 1.
No, no, i was referring to the victims that survived the crash,
but were killed on Dry Top when Destiny Edge 2.0 went around investigating.
Or did i misread that part?
Ah. Yeah a few seems to have been killed on the ground.
But that would also explain the more stealthy approach, since he didn’t want to get attention while doing it. A big explosion with probably attract quite a bit of attention after all.
Killing people with grenades on a flying airship while trying to be stealthy would be rather stupid.
When we fight him on the other hand he has no need for stealth.
“Kormir”
Yah okay, good one you guys. Next thing you’ll be telling me is that we lost the Guild Wars.
Well Kormir IS a god, and before her it was Abaddon. There have always been Six Gods.
And funny that you should mention the Guild Wars, because humans actually DID lose the Guild Wars (which were human-only btw) due to the Charr invasions.
It would seem like he/she/it somehow managed to get past the natural barriers and walk to the top-left corner (as seen by the placement of the character and the walked path) but yeah, the other corners seems like assumptions.
The content is unlocked account-wide, the progression however is character-bound.
I hope it’s exactly as you describe.
Uhh, also, your signature is wrong. There’s only 5 Gods.
There are very much Six Gods.
Dwayna, Melandru, Balthazar, Lyssa, Grenth and Kormir.
Most likely in two weeks since I seem to recall them saying they are going back to the two week release schedule.
It was all fun, until they released yet another super powered Sylvari as the antagonist. So sick of them by now…
I would assume that it is simply a very clear hint about the nature of Mordremoth. It would seem like it have manage to corrupt at least two Sylvari now.
Did you expect them to release all of Maguuma at once?
It is unlocked for the account, it is supposed to be at least.
It will not be available until you are level 80 though.
It might be this years birthday mini ^^
Yep, the post was something about how the writers were worthless when they miss something as obvious as Glint not dying in Dry Top.
I am fully aware about how ping works. That was however nothing that the guy I was mainly responding to talked about. The only thing he said was that he “couldn’t do it”.
And even with lag and such it would be fully possible with training. I have had several sessions with rather sever lag during the Bazaar, and yet have been rather able to time the jumps and such well enough to still manage to do it.
I also have a guildie from Australia that have no issues at all with those things, despite having high ping.
But I suppose if one have decided that they will never manage to do it they probably never will.
I would assume it is simply because they want people to experience the story rather than focusing on completing Achievements the first time through.
It will after all be ArenaNet they blame when they don’t understand the story due to not paying attention ^^
If you’ve ever had to play on the most minimally capable computer, you would know that jumping ability isn’t always trainable, it’s a software issue.
Actually if it is a minimally capable computer it would be a hardware issue, not software
If the computer fulfill the minimum requirements of the game (which might change over-time mind you) it should be fully possible to train it.
But since the player didn’t really seem to talk about having a bad computer but rather just being bad at jumping I would say that he could very much train up the ability.
IF the issue is with computer slowing down and such, lowering graphics to the very lowest should help quite a bit.
It’s not whether or not you “mind” or “like” them, it’s whether or not you can do them. If you can’t jump or do Zephyrite Aspects well, it effectively locks you out of Living Story Season 2.(Which is supposed to be for everyone at level 80.)
But you CAN learn to do them. That’s the whole point. Nothing is making it impossible for you to do it, other than you deciding that you can’t do it.
The fact remains that it is fully possible to train up jumping ability and as such this is basically a non-issue. Especially since it is permanent.

The point of the thread, is being forced to use jumping and aspects to progress in Living Story Season 2. It has gotten a little derailed by trolling.
And several other releases over the years have FORCED swift reactions or color-vision. Things that can’t really be trained up (in case of colorblindness).
Jumping on the other hand CAN be trained and made possible.
So it’s ok to alienate more of their playerbase because they’ve been doing it before?
Not really. I was simply talking about raging because a SINGLE RELEASE has a part that someone have an issue with is silly when the whole game has stuff that some people have issues with and always will.
It will be 100% impossible to do something that no-one will have issues with.
No. The notes came from the Journey that they made and were written long before they crashed.
It even have a date attached to it.
Nice try though.
I have to agree with the people who dislike having jumping and aspects forced on us as the only way to progress in LS S2. I have no jumping ability, and this will effectively lock me out of LS S2. I started a thread about this in Living Story /Discussion, which may get moved here. Not trying to be redundant, I just posted it in the wrong place.
What about people that have slow reaction times? They have been having issues with more or less every release.
Or people that are colorblind might have had rather major issues with quite a few segments due to not seeing AoE circles and such.
It requires very few uses of those skills.
With the same logic they can never release anything that requires timing, or fast reactions, or hearing, or color-vision or reading. Since there will always be people that can’t do some of that.
So, now with yet another Sylvari seemingly influenced by Mordy it might be time to accept that the Sylvari are very much tied to it (or might even be minions).
Look, i’m just saying. If they say they’re going to release it on July 1st, they need to take into consideration the rest of the world. As I stated it’s already July 2nd in Australia. Regardless of where they are based, they could have done the work yesterday, but they put it off. When they launched an MMO they began catering to the world. Not only the Pacific coast, because it’s not just played in the Pacific coast.
So which time should they cater to?
If the cater to Australia it will basically be released one day before in parts of the world.
Yes, they could have done the work yesterday, released it at midnight and then have us wait for any fixes for game-breaking issues until they got back to work later that day.
Or they could do as they always do and release it rather early during their workday so that they have most of the day in order to fix such issues as fast as possible.
Actually you have no stats to back that up, it’s just your opinion (which is fine) but don’t present an opinion as a fact. People disliked them too.
I went into the LS2 right away and was presented with this (IMHO) jumping/aspect crap, tried it and left.
Will try it again after all the guides come out so I don’t have to waste my time with silly jumping to access the map further.
+1 to OP
I have never present it as fact. But if you actually look at these forums (which for some reason are always an acceptable source when it comes to people disliking stuff) the majority of posts about them were positive.
I also said SEEMED which would suggest that I based it on what I had seen not stating it as an absolute fact.
Actually they got far from complaints about the Aspects, people overall seemed to love them back at the Bazaar (both the first time and the second).
A little tip for the future:
If you type /wiki Obsidian Shards in-game you will open the wiki-page for that subject.
But they don’t run the game on Pacific time. They run the time on GMT. That time zone is 4 hours ahead of the East Coast. It is currently after noon on the east coast. So it’s 4 pm GMT and still no sign of a download at all even though it’s July first for a chunk of the world. There’s part of the world (like Austrailia) where it’s already July 2nd and still no patch download.
The updates are based on their local time which is currently about 09:30 in the morning.
They can’t really have a time that would be “right” for the whole world, so putting it on their own time makes sense, seeing as that is when they work.
A good GM is an invisible GM.
If they were visible people would simply avoid breaking the rules while they were there and then just start again after they leave (a bit like how people lower their speed when they see a cop, but then go right up again when they are out of their reach).
Speaking of… when are we ever going to see that precursor scavenger hunt? Or 500 Chef? Or 500 Jewelcraft?
I mean, it’s all very well saying it’ll come “eventually” or “soon”, but talk is cheap.
Actually Precursor scavenger hunt was announced scrapped last year and replaced by Precursor Crafting, which is currently awaiting reward restructuring.
As far as I know they never actually confirmed lvl 500 Chef or Jewelcraft, but I would assume it would tie into the precursor crafting.
