1.) Backstab HAS a cooldown , its called Revealed !
2.) Anyone crying about getting hit that hard ( from whatever profession ) is running class themself, and therefore dishes out the same dmg.
3.) To cry about thiefs atm is really a l2p issue, compared to every other profession right now they got kitten !
Yes compared to the changes that EVERY other professions got thief was really left behind .
I am not talking about absurd builds that are flying around or the fact that a lot of builds can oneshot others .
Not really, if you play only pve then you don’t need the change, but in pvp and wvw this is really good, even if you have to keybind another key.
Using warrior’s elite can get me killed in some cases, so I usually use it when I’m stealthed and far away, but how many times can I do that? Not often, so I miss out on my steal because using the elite would kill me.

Never heard that using ANY weapon-abiliity (eg. autoattack) while whirling warrior’s axe will immediatly stop the skill ? Perhaps you should not play so much pve ….

If i now have a stolen item and steal is off c/d i can use it and instantly steal again, this will not change anything…

Why do ppl still care for the kittening leaderboard ?
There is really no great reward so who cares ?
The most important thing atm is to get good matches, so all that matters is finding enemies or enemy teams at your MMR.
Ingame rewards tracks are pretty much the same for anyone, sure if you win more you get em faster but it’s okay to lose here and there.
And as long as they don’t get their idea behind the leaderboard right they will not give out any good rewards either, so just be happy to get good games and stop bothering about the stupid LB … .
It would all be fixed if the ladder would display MMR …
Bountifull theft did take the full stacks & duration !!!
These x stability for y sec reapplied every z secs will also hurt bountifull theft + larcenous strike and all nullification sigils.
Headshot will be kittened up too, b/c you now no longer can steal a stability of a target and interrupt it after wards.

You should also try to play with smokescreen, this is imho. underrated when playing P/P.
well as long as there is not real reward for beeing the “best” we all should just ignore LB and play for fun.
It would be okay as 8v8 IF you have different objectives on the map, so the team would have to split up.
If its just a PvP version of capture a defended tower it would end up in a zerg, which imho is no fun.
But as always, different people diferent opinions.
I miss an arena 2v2 or 3v3 mode however, i know so many ppl that would come back only for this … really wonder why they do not add it.

Overall all good changes, let’s see how it plays out.
However I doubt that any of the meta builds that run CelestialAmulet+Mightrunes+BattleSignet will change to lets say ZerkerAmulet + OgreRunes + Air .
Even with the loss of ~150Power it’s still superior for their playstyle.
However we will have perhaps a new Sigil in the meta, Superior Sigil of Torment , its really very strong on certain speccs.
And still no-one will play with Traps , so sad that the devs do not understand the problem there…. (hint: let traps create a combofield ….. ).
The buff to Invigorating precision looks nice, however where / when would you use it ?
It’s useless in many worldboss fights b/c you cannot crit them .
It might have it’s place in certain situations where you would have to heal while dealing dmg, but i think it is still to low ( bufffood offers much stronger healing ).

It’s very cool from you that you check peoples match statistics if someone thinks he might has a bugged account, so the information about all this in there, but you have to check “manually” .
I think the community would really really apreciate it if more detailed information was shown.
As the above poster just wrote, they added the games you previously ( since the beta-season started ) lost due to d/c to your lose games.
However they did not substract any points as this was already done when you received the disconnect .
It’s just to calculate the “right” win / loss percentages because there was a time ( bug ) when beein disconnected at the end of a match did not count the losegame.
I was confused by that action too yesterday as i at once had +5 losegames out of nowhere….
I think they want to lower the hurdle for new players to get into pvp .
But their way of doing this is just wrong .
Before the last Pvp-update you could easily figure out if ppl in your team to have knowledge of their profession, just because the good ones swapped weapons for buffing in the beginning – which is not possible anymore .
And for the inital statement about buildwars2, I was also to “rage” about that statement without further explaination from Justin.
This ( and the current mechanics behind the leaderboard + stuff that come with it ) just leaves us with the impression that PvP designers of GW2 don’t understand the issues.
There are many many posts in the PvP forum, also posts with great suggestions on how it should be done but they are ignored .
It’s so senseless to punish ppl who relog to another profession pre-match.
You (Justin ODell) even stated in another thread that you do not yet have enabled profession bleeding.
I know many of us do have a main profession, and play best with it, but its so much worse to have profession stacking in a “solo-q”-team than perhaps have someone “exploiting” his low-profession ranking.
Either disable the profession specific ranking or change it, so the win or loss will be added to the profession a player queued with, and not the one he is playing on once the match finishes.
best advice is to get to a store that has both mice and test them.
It’s about what “feels” better with your hand .
I for myself have to say it’s the naga, they sidekeys just fit better to my hand.
What sucks with the naga though ( perhaps with the Logitech too ) , you have to run / use their software in order to load your settingsprofile.
I don’t use any macros or stuff, but i use the sidebuttons => numpad keys mapping.
This ONLY gets loaded when i start the software, if i don’t run it , the sidebuttons are only mapped to the normal number keys.
For me this was a huge bummer, i also did not find any review where this was mentioned.
Sometimes if i boot my PC and want to play GW2 right away the profile is not yet loaded and if i join pvp then i find my mouse totally messed up , it takes ~1min until the profile is loaded and i can use the mouse at full potential….
“Traditional PvP” in your eyes is Gear to win .
And thank god Guildwars2 will never be link that.
If you want your Gear &/ Buffs affect your gameplay go into WvW, but that will be the most you will get.
There you can PWN undergeared and lowranked ppl, which seems to be what you want .
Aside of that you perhaps will find what you want in Wildstar, its somewhat like GW2 but Gear-to-win.
The way GW2 handels endgame / pvp is super enjoyable , you will look so much sexier if you play the game for longer than other ppl , or simple have more money than they do.
But in terms of pvp performance everyone is equal, b/c everyone can easily creatre any profession and equip every item / skill ingame.
Another really wierd fact , i recently met a person while soloqueing, who did ask every game in warmup what profession / build he should play – and he rerolled to what was needed most.
Meaning everytime -3 points…. It’s so stupid really, all he wanted to do was helping out the team.
And you do not even get any warning ingame that you will be treated like a person who does leave on purpose… really Anet has to do something about this stupid system as it works right now.

Today, yesterday everyday !
I play the game in WvW / PVE / PVP , in PVE+WvW everything is fine no D/C.
In PvP, most time in ranked games i randomly get disconnected from the Server !!!!!
Its so stupid, i am back in the game 20 sec later, play till the end, we win, i still manage to get ~ 100pt ( not that it would matter, but more than 0 ) but am punished with -3 for this !
WHY did they even implement this ?
4v5 games are mostly solved by the fact that you have to accept and chose a map before the game starts.
And when you wnat to implement a punishmet for ppl that leave midgame on purpose that dishonor them at the end of the match, if they are not there !
If someone decides to be AFK midgame b/c he thinks its a lose and does not see a chance to get any points at all fine, you don’t punish this guy.
Instead you punish the ppl that get disconnected ( for whatever reason ) but rejoin as fast as possible cause they want to play !
I’m playing a warrior with axe/shield and LB and trust me when I say that theres some thiefs that deal me more than 10k of damage in 4 seconds and that I can’t hit them ’cause of blind, hide and dodge.
Perhaps you should play some thief, and understand it’s mechanics then.
If he does dodge he cannot hit you, if you are blinded you should perhaps not stand in BP, you also have zerker stance which you perhaps should pop earlier and not when you are already blinded, this will normally force and D/P thief to backoff.
“Hide” does no dmg to you, and you might want to still AA while you cannot see the thief, you will wonder how many thiefs will be revealed dead by your feet …
It’s like i wrote before, if you did not play the profession yourself please do not judge it, you don’t have a clue what you are talking about.
This is hilarious. A glass cannon thief is complaining about getting hit for 9K Final Thrust. Guess what a Backstab will do almost that equivalent amount of damage. And Backstab has zero cooldown, easier to land and doesn’t require the opponent to be under 50% HP. So what are you complaining about?
So much missinformation in here….. Backstab has ofc a cooldown, its at least 4.x seconds in sPvP, because when your hit a backstab you are REVEALED and thus, cannot get back into stealth for the next 4 seconds !!!
Also, you know how much dmg a backstab does that does not flank ?

I don’t want do defend thiefs or anything, but you ppl saying a glass thief does the same dmg and has so much more abilities to hit and run are just wrong.
I see so many good players and streamers play thiefs and fail horrible with it, b/c its not as easy as ppl tend to make it.
Granted Final Truest often fails, but S/x warrior, specced for dmg has more dmg than thief, but it’s also another playstyle.
You can perhaps in theory get more dps out of Backstab but you cannot run such a build in sPvP.
The times where you ran D/D 25/30/0/0/15 with assassin signet (the old one) are long gone.
In the old leaderboard Top Teams were on the top, no matter how many games they or other ppl played.
But right now, mr noname can come out on top , cause he will be around 50% win, and not beein a great player does make this even more possbile, cause the mmr-algo tries to find a “perfect” game.
Thus a medicore 24/7 player will be on the top in the end.
Ofc the Top-Teams could still be on top if they would play that much too, but they don’t.
Leaderboard is a grind now, more than ever.
I agree the only “good” feature in the new leaderboard is to award ppl for playing a game to its end even if it seems lost.

However since we now get random -3 points for a disconnect this new feature somewhat loses its glamor.
I never leave games, never did in the past and when i was kicked ( or got a bluescreen ) i rejoined as fast as i could, and often enough one still won the map.
But now, you cannot rejoin and get punished hard … getting -3 if it’s absolutely not your fault feels geart you know.
This has nothing to do with the leaderboard in the first place, but
It was clear from the beginning what would happen with this system.
Also, what would a sorting by win% change at all ?
You would see ppl that queue as team on top, no matter how good they are, because the algorithm tries to find the best possible game for them.
The system is just flawed, really hope they will come to the same conclusion in january and start to implement a system like in WoW arena.
Not based on players and professions but on real teams.
I mean Anet stated the rewrote the whole backend and now have the tools to play around with settings where they did not have that ability before.
However somehow its been worse at least the leaderboard is so useless, how could they not foresee it ?
You “support” your team as a thief by knowing where to be at what moment.
Mapawareness is very important as a thief.
You “support” by dealing dmg and interrupting keyskills on enemies, either with /P#4 or traited steal.
You can also “support” by rooting the enemies, either by speccing into panicstrike or by using devour venom.
Another way to play thief supportive would be by taking venomous aura, however i personally feel that i support my team much more by dealing dmg in the right situations than by sharing venoms.
I have a christmas wish @Anet , PLEASE show us our MMR , would help so much !
playing this as zerker and its find too, might be stronger with a condition setup, but against certain professions that have good condi removal zerker version is really good.

D/p thief with equal skill would always win guys,cause stealth. What you describe is Bad D/D ele vs thief who can play … can say the same.
Ofc you will want to use steal when he has prot up and left water, but a good ele knows that.
He can dodge your steal, he gives you enough pressure so you have to perhaps use steal before to take out some pressure and get the fight in your favor.
D/D ele has redicilous burning ticks and also poison, and a thief does not have any poison cleanse outside heal and SS with Meta D/P build…
AGAIN, the OP was asking about D/P meta and not S/D nor a variation of D/P => so thief will lose given equal skill !

How would we determine your league? By that, I mean, do we place you in a league based on the MMR at the start of the season? 10 days after the season starts? Or, do we let you move between leagues as your MMR goes up and down throughout the season? Do we let people pick their own league?
For the beginning make it simple, top 100, top 500, top 1000, rest ?
What sort of implications does this have for matchmaking? Do we only let people fight others in their league? If yes, this could cause long queue times, especially in the upper leagues. If we let people fight players from any league does the current odds of victory point handicapping still fit?
Keep the algo you have right now, seems okayish if there are enough players.
This means you can move between leagues in season and the mm algo does not need any change at this point because ppl from different “leagues” can play vs each other.
How does this affect rewards? If we rewarded the top 150 players, do we now only reward the top 50 in each league? If we split rewards by league, doesn’t that imply locking people into a league at the start?
Well this is something you have to figure out , but there is still some time.
I personally liked the WoW-system, where you could achive titles ( items ) once you reached a certain “Rank” .

Depends allot on the exact spec your using.
One thing that can help allot is having boon steal trait.
Love that trait when facing elementalists, That protection you just popped ? Mine now. Those 12 stacks of might. Mine as well. + now I have vigor so I can dodge & evade even more.
Other then that It can depend allot on the exact variation of the P/D build you use.
But assuming decent skill on both sides I would expect the thief to either win or run away & never die.

Title says it. A lot of skills these days are getting telegraphs because of OP problems. Steal does many things when traited: daze, rip and steal boons, stealth, and damage
It seems to be unblockable as well.
No other profession has a skill that can do this much crippling damage to a player. Mesmer has moa which is unblockable but it is also an elite.
At least give steal a tell so people can dodge it , maybe even a slower teleport that shows a trail or how about change the skill so it can only be used in melee( makes perfect sense to add a tiny bit of realism into a fantasy game) . So far its just luck and uncanny anticipation. Anet nerfed point blank shot, so why not this?
As you already stated, it has to be traited, and with all what you ( and others who QQ about steal ) say , we have to spend 12 of 14 points to get all these effects …. !!!!!
Steal is fine, its a thiefs ONLY F-Ability, if you play a specc that relies heavily on Steal and you miss it you are kittened..
And there are so many things that fly around in the fights , blinds, blocks, random dodges and Bugs, noone can say that Steal will always hit !
In a 1v1 a thief can for sure get close to 100% hit with steal, but its not an easy task either, if the nmy knows what he is doing, he can use his defensive abilities and predict the steal.
A thief has so play like this all the time, either you dodge what will be coming or you are done…. play a thief and you will understand it.
And for your comparison to point blank shot, its a weaponskill on a low CD , and you do not have to invest any traitpoints into it, so well drop it .

Thiefs F-Ability is so boring in comparison to other profession’s F-abilities, and un-traited it is really really bad !
A ton of damage comes just from dagger autos, and dancing dagger bounces also do pretty decent damage. Even in single target scenario, staggering steal, infiltrator signet, and shadowstep gives you more than enough gap closers to land your heavy hitting combos. It’s a complete myth to think that the weapon set is useless in between mug/CnD/backstab combos.
I’ve also read the rest of your post, but i want to take this statment to show the problem a D/D thief has.
Autoattacks from dagger are really nice, but what do you think will happen if a thief just jumps in an ongoing fight between even 2ppl .
Often enough you just die from random AE/procs etc.
You dont have invulns or protection, no stability, regen and if you want to deal dmg you are fullzerker with 14.xxx Hp and no toughness.
I really don’t know where you normally fight but the guys i fight ( mostly in tPvP ) focus a thief instant , and if you dont manage to get your burst out in 2 secs you are dead / cc’ed or have to retreat.
And for 1v1 situations D/P is also much much better than D/D , because you need the blinds and the option to get into stealth when you need it, D/D would only work against professions with a companion b/c if you try to land a C’n’d on a decent player you will not get it off ( blind, block, dodge ).
Blind & Interrupt is much more of use as the cripple from dancing dagger or the dmg from cloak and dagger.
I really tried some or your builds yesterday, only in hotjoin, and its like i said.
Sure you can join an ongoing battle and nuke someone out, but you can also do this with D/P.
But as D/D you lose the chance to fight players on your skilllevel in 1v1.
You lose also the “support” ability you have, areastealth and blind.
I agree that 2/0/6/0/6 is currenlty one of the strongest speccs for WvW , i run it also if facing anything condiish or more than 1nmy.
But also here i have D/P as second set, because if you “fail” one C’n’D can be in a lot of trouble.
But this specc does not do good in sPvP because of the much lower stats.
It does not hurt at all, ofc, you can run it as condispec but thats better done with P/D.

Why do you think EVERY thieef out there, who does play at least in the top 1000 in leaderboard (+ all streaming thiefs and all thiefs from top teams that were broadcasted ) plays either D/P or S/D ? Perhaps sometimes S/P ?
Well, let me tell you why, cause D/D sucks and is not even close to beeing viable.
With D/D you have exactly ONE chance to nuke your target, when you have your Elite up and steal is ready.
And this 3 abilities ( C’n’D , steal , backstab ) have to hurt !
Not going into CS as D/D thief is even more fail, cause you lose the 100% critchance on you “killshot”. You will also lose a lot of critchance, and critdmg which is what makes a Backstab hit so hard.
Sure you can run with Superior Sigil of Intelligence as i wrote but your B/S will still hit for less.
And 6 into trickery works with every build, as i also wrote, but as D/D you will not gain ANYTHING over D/P when you not specc into full burst .
You will even lose your ability to gapclose , b/c you don’t have access to shadowshot, and you don’t have a ranged interrupt outside of steal which is one of your burst openers.
If you are in EU please please let us duel and you will understand why D/D is bullkitten in PvP .

D/D is only viable in PvE . Its the Specc with the highest DPS in bossfights.
I know there are ppl pretending they do play it as roamer in WvW too, but this will only work unless you face someone who knows how to fight a D/D thief, then it’s game over.
In a WvW Group i can also still work as D/D , but you are heavily carried, basicly waiting for your group to open and you go in for the killing blow, moving out right after and just deal Dmg with Shortbow.
Problem with D/D is, your backstab needs to hurt, and i mean really hurt.
For that you have to invest into critical Strikes, ( well dunno, could also perhaps try Sigil of Intelligence… ).
This does not leave much room for any supportive traitline.
So, i belive currently you can only play it in PvE bossencounters as 6/6/0/0/2 specc for highest possible dmg, in every other part of the game you are better of with another weaponcombination.-
1) random doge , 5/8 classes have vigor , the current topic is teef trait that gives basicaly unlimited randm doges (intentionaly speled wrong cz much wow)
3) Agressively charge in like a sizer , probably eating RP + nightmare = 3+3=6s fear….. then press agility signet to refil dogemeter and dont even waste a stunbreak
well, two things here ( perhaps you should play thief, you might will understand then why this professions has these traits in certain builds … ).
Signet of Agility removes ONE condition, a nec can cover his fear with other kitten, so its not guaranteed that it will pull of fear, and even if, its only fair cause 6 sec CC is basicly an i-win button.
And for 1) , unlimited dodges ? lol.
Feline Grace is one more dodge, thats about it.
The “unlimitedness” comes from the synergy between Feline Grace and Sigent of Agility, and if you play that bar you have to trade something.
Which is either ShadowRefuge or ShadowStep.
How many professions run (can run ) with energy sigil and get its proc for free, b/c of weaponswap spamming ( ele, ng, warrior ). Its basicly the same as felince grace.
If a thief decides to take feline grace, he will most likely go for 6 points in acrobatics and trade in a lot of dmg.
Thiefs do not have any passive defense, the only defense there is, is moving out by time or dodge before you are hit.
prices went up a lot ofc, but it took some time.
However, you have to bear in mind that we got much moar candy corn this year !
On the other hand they’ve introduced the candy corn gobbler to take out some candy.
It’s hard to tell what will happen, but given the supply atm of both candy corn and tot bags i think it will not go up as much as last year .
Well, steal with any other specc, that does not have ANY steal buffing traits is rather bullkitten for an ( our only ) F-Ability — don’t you agree ?
Steal without traits:
- 900y-range instant cast to target
- 35 sec CD
- steal an ability from your enemy

I know you play also thief often, but i really dont understand why you create that topic about it ?
If you ( as thief ) fail the steal, for whatever reason ( blind, block , dodge, los, bugs… ) you are really kittened , because the specc you mentioned ( 4/x/x/x/6 ) relies really very much on it .
Before Anet thinks about changing anything on steal, they should offer some other spec-possibilies that do not rely so much on traited steal.
I often play around and try new speccs, but the thing is, no matter what weaponset you play, you nearly everytime end up with a spec which has 2/x/x/x/6 because you need it.
It’s so much stronger that the other possible specs, and thief does have a special role in sPvp too, which does not offer much options for anything else.
You cannot play P/D full SA troll build in sPvp, well sure you could, but it does not help your team at all.
You will not be able to kill competent players in 1v1 on far nor can you hold home with it.
You might kill them but the point is not ticking for your team the whole time, which will make your team lose.
There is really no other role for a thief as roamer with high DPS, and since all the Burst-Builds / Abilities got nerfed hard, you will not benefit of any D/D 6/6/x/x/x build over a trickery build.
The dmg you can deal with a full trickery build is enough and you get all the goodies too.
So as long as this is not addressed in any way, nothing will happen.
Same error for me, and the loop will prevent us from playing now, cause the game still tries to port you to that map , no matter which character you choose, or what you do , after 1 minute the game tries to port you to that map.
