You get lucky on a single run and decide you got DR? Even without DR … 7 rares, 2 exotics and 3 globs is a ton of drops on FotM10. Average is 2-3 rares and 0 globs.
Furthermore, Mystic Forge is not influenced by DR at all…
Your conclusion makes no sense.
Like i said.. this has happens after "every single patch update so far.. not a single run . every single run I’ve done have after a patch i hit the jackpot.. After that each daily run is a worthless waste of time for drops! .. wait until the next patch.. Bingo Drops like CRAZY again… this is not some random fluke its FACT!
You got lucky several times and your reptile brain requires you to find a pattern. Even without any shred of evidence you commit to the first hint of a pattern and call it a fact.
You got lucky several times. By chance it was twice after a patch. That doesn’t make your theory a fact though, it is a guess, and a bad one at that. Not that I blame you, people always need a pattern, even when there’s none. It’s just human to see things that ain’t there.
Evidence is needed, not a hunch about some weird drops that happen once in a blue moon. Even if that blue moon coincides with a patch now and then. Your isolated experience does not constitute as valid proof.

Developers stated that the reason Final Rest hadn’t dropped was because people hadn’t farmed the event enough. Then a month later they say they had forgotten to turn the drop on. Today Final Rest is worth ~12g.
Draw your own inferences.
Not what they said. They upped the droprate from 0.00000000001% on a bugged event to 0.0001% on a working event. Your post is just needless conjecture.

The biggest problem really is the variable length. If I have two hours, you can bet on swampland/underwater/urban for a 30 minutes run. On the other hand, when I barely have 90 minutes, you can bet on cliffside, underground, snowblind. The fractals being a bit more deterministic in time required would fix a lot.
Sure, progression is a good thing and I fully support purely cosmetic progression just like in GW1. I even support AR progression. I can’t support stat progression because it’s against everything competitive gaming stands for.

Which are the coolest fractals designwise?
Imho, in no particular order
- Cliffside. This one is epic. The lore fits, the giant is awesome, the jumping gives a real sense of height and the bow at the end …
- Urban battlefield. Just makes me feel like invading ascalon. Somehow feels more like a first person shooter than MMO
- Swampland. Gives me Jumanji creeps. Especially the Mossman, the whole fractal just feels like a jungle.

I can see your point of view but you are not in the core audience for fractals. Fractals are targeted at the the players who are short of content and want something to put their time into, day after day. You can put as much time as you like into fractals going up levels pretty much until you hit your own limit. It can become the top level end game content.
Fractals are not designed to be quick and easy for players without much time, but inevitably those players want the same rewards as the players who do invest a lot of time working up the levels (as always). In this case the fractal rewards are account bound so you do only need one character at a certain level and you can share the rewards across your account. You can also get the ascended items through dailies and crafting so nobody is entirely excluded.
The cost in relics for the rings seems expensive but you get plenty of rings from the daily chests. The barter relics provide you with a specific ring of your choice if you are not satisfied with the looted ones.
As I said in my opening post… I can not and will not play GW2 as if it were a second job. I consider that a healthy position and I believe all content should be catered towards healthy play styles. That is my firm belief, I don’t think I’m alone in that. While progression in the form of AR, unique skins and leaderboards can be hard and arduous, the statbased progression should be relatively easy to achieve by people like me.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
And one of mine: Give players a “point” when they finish a Fractal, once you get 3 “points”, you can fight the Maw, much like how Domain of Anguish worked in Guild Wars 1. That way people with limited time can do 1-2 Fractals then call it quits for the day. Also, getting a very hard (and long) Fractal as your third wouldn’t cause a progress reset… (when you finally quit). To compensate, lower a bit the rewards for the first fractal, while increasing them on the third in row (again much like DoA)
The main counter to the above suggestion is repair costs, but, after the January patch those aren’t an issue anymore in Fractals, so there is nothing against it, or is there?
Totally support that. I will add it.

If anything, the PVE game is more alive than ever. Queensdale has overflows again, which has to do with Behemoth. These 80s help out lower levels though. Even in mid-level zones it is normal to meet up people while Orr has been revitalized by rebalancing some mobs. GW2 is the best PVE MMO in the world, and only becomes better.
As far as PVP is concerned … d3 being more popular on twitch means d3 is more popular, but that “argument” doesn’t hold any merit. Soccer is more popular than Cyclocross yet we all know soccer is the most boring sport in the world. On the other hand, A.net can safely ignore sPVP in order to make the PVE world the best there is. This seems to be the course of action. Furthermore, WvW is the meat and bones of GW2 PVP so I hope they can really implement something cool in march. We’ll see in 2 weeks. However, broken PVP has no bearing on most PVE players.
My objective conclusion is that GW2, just like every MMO including big names like WoW, Eve and Everquest, was released as a beta product. Did you really expect anything different? The whole charm of joining a new MMO is riding the bug wave, and in GW2, it has been a relatively smooth ride thus far. I repeat this one truth: other games were virtually non-playable due to bugs, lag and queues in the first months. GW2 cleanly avoided all that, which was already a revolutionary improvement.
Sales: online stores have sales all the time. GW1 had year round sales too… No ground for a conspiracy. The daily sales coincides well with the daily laurels. People now have a reason to open the gem store every day. That drives revenue, whether or not the sale is relevant to the player.

This is my take on the FotM dungeon after reaching scale 10 and my first pristine relic.
Who am I: I’m pretty much the definition of a GW2 fanboy, as my post history will prove. However I also have pretty limited time given my job, family, friends and other hobbies. I can’t and won’t play GW2 as a second job, I consider that a healthy position. Furthermore I see myself as a guy who learns extremely fast (which is the #1 requirement for my current job).
What I think of FotM: Yesterday I finally reached FotM scale 10. I like FotM, it is a fun dungeon with nice mechanics. It is hard and not predictable which I really like. I do like optimizing gear.
That being said.
FotM 1-9: FotM 1 through 9 are utterly pointless. I see no reason for them to exist. They give hardly any noticeable loot, no pristine relics, low amount of normal relics. Why I’m forced to do a useless dungeon 9 times is beyond me. After doing every fractal once, I consider myself a master in it given my learning skills. Relic gain is too slow for FotM 1-9 to reasonably lead to an ascended backpiece, which you need for FotM10.
Extremely variable time spent: while I do not mind the time spent in FotM, you never know how long it’ll take. Depending on the randomized Fractals, it can take between 30 minutes or 2 hours. There is no such thing as a “fast fractal run” which means I’m pretty much limited to doing fractals on wednesdays only when my fiancée is not at home. Ten weeks for a single ring???
Exorbitant vendor prices: The ascended back piece costs 5 stacks of relics. Two more to make it ascended, then two more stacks to infuse it. I currently have 2 stacks of relics after reaching 10.
A single ring costs 10 relics which is beyond stupid given I can only do 1 fractal a week under the current imbalanced times required. I learned the mechanics on FotM, give me my loot already …
Character bound progress: My main is an engineer. My alt is a guardian. Probably fractals would go faster with my guardian, but I’m not going through FotM 1-9 again. As said, they make no sense since I mastered the game by FotM 3 on my main.
Solutions!: Because this is constructive criticism.
- Reduce the cost for the Exotic back piece to 500 tokens.
- Reduce the cost for Gift of Ascension to 250 tokens
- Reduce the cost of rings to 3 Pristine tokens
- Put vials, globs and shard of mist essence on the pristine vendor for 1-2-3 tokens
- Put pristine relic on sale for 250 regular tokens
- Greatly reduce the HP of bosses in Snowblind, Underground, Cliffside fractals
- Make FotM progression account wide
- Remove the first 5 FotM scales. This makes you reach agony levels faster and removes non-rewarding initial levels. Basically make FotM4 function as FotM9.
All except the last 2 are basically vendor/number tweaks and could be implemented fast.
Conclusion TL;DR: Doing a perfect run should take about 40 minutes, independant of random fractals. In my opinion, smart casuals should have a realistic expectation of getting BiS gear through this dungeon. Currently, neither of these prime requirements are present.
EDIT:
And one of mine: Give players a “point” when they finish a Fractal, once you get 3 “points”, you can fight the Maw, much like how Domain of Anguish worked in Guild Wars 1. Hopefully the March patches will fix this.
You know at this point 6 months later that should not be the mantra we chant. It’s time for a change and it’s not going to happen so long as some people continue with the illusion that everything is perfectly fine with this game as I’ve seen in every post pointing out major flaws both with testing and with the patches. These people need to stop posting nonsense that everything is working properly and start helping those of us actively trying to improve the gameplay for everyone.
And yet your signature is about a useless PTR. You’re not asking for change, you just have an idee fixe that a PTR would solve everything, while in reality it solves nothing, as proven in WoW. Furthermore the problems in GW2 are relatively small all things considered.
Yes, after 6 months, we should be happy about a game that’s actively balanced, rather stable and updated regularly. The biggest P2P game out there doesn’t come even close to the quality of this game despite being 7 years old (and having a PTR)
I do understand some minor issues cause you grievance, but none of those will be fixed with a PTR since they’re so minor. Some people focus only on the negatives. It’s impossible to make them happy, not even a PTR will change that.

My main gripe is that agony resistance doesn’t carry over to ANY player spawned/controlled minions which in FotM10+ hurts the player a lot, more so for ranger since x % total our of dps is our pet.
We’re aware of and working towards a solution for that problem. Agony Resistance on summoned creatures and pets is something we are trying to do.
Kinda funny how the exact same problem existed in GW1 yet you didn’t predict it in GW2.

Well it is possible that there’re two moons – and they’re on complete opposite sides of Tyria, rotating in the same or nearly the same path.
This is virtually impossible according to physics. Such a resonation makes for a very unstable orbit. For the same reason it’s impossible for an “anti-earth” to exist on the opposite side of the sun. It is a theory that pops up often in layman’s brains though it doesn’t have any scientific merit.

While is sounds like a cool idea, the problem with it is that tattoos in GW2 are by every indication a specifically norn feature.
This was done primarily to make norn stand apart as something other than just “big humans” and as cool as it would be to get a few tattoos on other races I doubt it’s going to happen.
Norn: big humans
Asura: small humans
Charr: hairy humans
Sylvari: planty humans
Can’t see the problem. All races are currently humans with a quirk.

75 fractal relics gives you +5 agony resist. Probably the best upgrade for any ascended item currently and cheapest to boot.
Limiting the infusion power to +4 is deliberate to keep them optional.
I would put the 20% gold on your amulet though … it’s like a permanent gold fountain. Beats any stat upgrade.

During the first 3 months of launch GW2 experienced a huge botting problem. This is no secret. During this time the bots flooded the economy dramatically increasing the price of gems. While the staff did a great job of smashing all the bots, they never removed all of the gold produced by the bots from the game. Why haven’t they done so? With gems being literally worth more than the American dollar, people are spending a lot of real world cash on gems to then convert them into in game gold or spending them in the gem store for upgrades.
Not to burst any bubbles but almost everything is worth more than the american dollar.

The +5 agony resist is an omni for 75 fractal relics and fits within every possible slot. That is enough for almost every purpose.
You can add +5 to a defensive slot but imho there are two main builds:
- glass canons that forgo all defense: take offensive
- more balanced buidls that have a nice amount of Tough/Vit. Take offensive for the incremental damage increase, since you don’t die anyways with good play.
Which stat to take is also up to personal choice. I would recommend +precision to trigger more on-crit effects. In the end, that is more useful than raw damage.

GW1 tactics: “Don’t ball for puppy’s sake! Spread out, don’t stand in AoE! It hurts you!”
GW2 tactics: “Don’t spread out for puppy’s sake! Ball up, stand in AoE, it’s safer that way!”
Am I the only one who thinks that is ridiculous?
We’re two. The purpose of AOE is not to deal damage but rather to control an area. Removing the AOE limit achieves two goals:
- zerging becomes far less effective because a single siege engine rips through them
- positioning becomes more important, especially in small skirmishes
Both lead to more tactical play.
Every skill is effective against an idiot. AOE is no exception, and balancing should not be done around idiots.

I wonder if it could be that the Flame Legion enslaved the Dredge? Sometimes the Dredge doesn’t seem to be the standard type of villains and I always make a point of it to only attack Dredge that tried to attack me.
Could be the moletariate is imploding due to corruption, economic stagnation and oppression. The higher echelons of the moletariate would need an enemy and an ally to justify a war economy. An attack on the southern korea shiverpeaks seems logical. Allying with theocratic Iran flame legion could be justified with enough propaganda.

Depends on what’s in the meteor. Usually it’s just ferrite with high carbon and a bunch of radioactive isotopes. With a bit of luck it has traces of Rhodium or Platinum which could make it slightly more valuable (and slightly more cancerous)
If you want to pay 600 times the price of gold for a dirty iron jewel that gives you cancer, be my guest. The only reason people pay for it, is because it comes from out of space. Apart from that, not really special. You could make a jewel like that from household stuff (bar the cancer, that’s unique for meteors)
The only reason why meteors used to be so popular back in the iron age, was because of carbon content. It was an ore that melted into steel instead of iron. But that was 4000 years ago.
