No, deleting all characters doesnt reward you with a free world change.
I know there is a lot of critisism bout this, but world change was never supposed to be free and it is a free to play game. Changing your home server cost a maximum of 1800 gems. You can buy them with real money for 22,50 euro/us dollar. or use ingame gold wich cost your somewhere round 20-30 gold. There is however an option called guesting allowing you access to another world for free (though no WvWvW). So you could decide to farm the money and guest till then.

First of all… dont count on luck
Ye I know people brag bout how lucky they are.But i never have been.not in life and not in game. I need to work hard. Envy is the worse sin here.
So dont count on luck when farming for what you want. just farm, and be efficient.´
I think you know perfectly well how to be efficient. keep your goals your goals and never abbandon them and you will get what you want.

The source of magic are bloodstones. Altough the source of information on the wiki is unknown I like this phrase: ‘The original Bloodstone was a powerful and large stone that the seers created to contain magic that was not corrupted by the Elder Dragons during their last rise.’
So this is not only telling us something bout the source of magic (wich are the bloodstones) but is actually saying that the magic that we have access to is magic that is actually uncorrupted.
In other words it seems highly unadvisable to use the magic that is bleeding from an elder dragon, cause it seems to be corrupted magic. Better to kill the ED’s and their corrupted magic quickly :P

I never read that part of the forum anymore. The reason is that I don’t take it too serious. Yes there haver been some people who where banned for farming. But I also believe a lot of people get the benift of the doubt and/or are complaining while they actually where botting.
I have never worried bout it and have never been banned.

The rets goes through the portal as well, but automaticly by answering the question if they want to help with yes.
So yes, if done as described everyone ends there together and you fight as a team.
The group advertisements are mostly done in local chat and map chat.
I prefer local chat to not bother others, but unfortanally not everyone agreess.
As an alternate source also a website can be used:
http://www.gw2lfg.com/
Look for a group you want to join. make a note of the leader (left colom) and sent that person a pm in the game that you woul like to join. keep in mind that for ascalonian catacombs you need to be in plain’s of ashford and for Caudacus’s manor in Queensdale.
Also keep in mind that with this website you can join with people in other servers (and play and fight together), but only in you territory. So if you are in northern america click nortern america on this website on top, and if you are in europe click europe.

Explorer Ket ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer_Ket ) wants this. It is a renown heart-item. naming that giving it to Ket will fill in the renowm heart (most likely the one closest to where you found it). In this case it is for the renown Heart ‘Help Ket investigate the Ruins of Demetra’ ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Ket_investigate_the_Ruins_of_Demetra ).
You can find him near the ruins of holy demetra in Harathi hinterlands (almost bottom- right side)

I think you are talking bout dungeon’s. If you are new to dungeons I suggest doing either Ascalonian Catacombs (plains of ashford) or Caudacus’s manor (Queensdale) in storymode.
So join a group that is advertising for cm story or ac story outside the dungeon.
explain to the group that you have never done a dungeon and don’t really understand how to start them.
When the team is ready one member will enter and select the appropiate mode (story mode in this case). Everyother member gets a pop-up message asking you if you want to join in. if you confirm that you want to join in, you will be taken through the portal with the person that started the dungeon.
So in short: only one person (the leader) goes through the portal. The rest gets a pop-up message asking to join in.

1: Making a guild and just thinking you are going to get members isn’t going to work.
2: If you tried point 1, no offense ment, but please join an existing guild.
3: a guild is a group of players that have something in common. So the first thing you have to ask yourself is what does your guild has to offer.. The second thing you have to ask yourself is if you are in a group of people that has something in common. If the answer is yes, talk with that group bout forming a guild. If the answer is no then pls start meeting people. be social and friendly and just play the game. You will meet people and if they like you they will join you.
Only after you have a stable base it is worthwile to go activly recruiting as stated above. Important is that you have a website, speech-server and a common goal.

You only need to find the jumping puzzles, not to finish them. So getting in the cave/area is enough. as far as I know only 2 or 3 are jumping puzzles that start at the end of another jumping puzzle.

It’s not a design flaw (or do you mean you judge it as a design flaw?). The game armor is made for looks mostly, It’s not that your character is in any danger.

You account prolly was used as a farming bot
I guess you have a support ticket for recovering access to your account. I would file a supportticket referring to the first ticketnumber (if you dont have it, explain how you recovered your account) and ask them if it is possible to restore your account.
I know they have a restore system in place, just don’t know if it is also for lvl progress.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I think the stone is very nice, cause you can travel from anywhere (if not in combat) to the hall and backwards. If I need to go afk for 5 minutes I often park my character in the hall of monuments. I know you can use the heart of the mists as well but the loading time for the HoM is much shorter (wich is specially good on return).
So even if you never played GW1 I think it has some good value.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
only very shortly played a guardian but really didn’t like it.
I started the game with an ele wich is a very nice class, but also very squishy. So at a sudden point in the game I decided to leave it for a while and not really knowing what to pick I decided: Hey lets try the engineer. It was pretty soon that I really really liked it and it turned out my lvl 80. I think the reason that you don’t see a lot of engineers has to do with the kits. They frighten a lot of people, but are very fun.

@mercury : so one player helping another player with their personal story isnt appropriate to the players helping players forum?
btw informing us of our deviation from your perception of the forum norms isnt players helping players therefore perhaps shouldnt be in this thread? Offtopic forum might have been a more appropriate place for you to slap our wrists.
No, it isnt helping another player to tell how bad you find it that the last story step is a dungeon. I isn’t helping the OP finish it. and like I said, the right place in my humble opinion is the right place. If you do want so don’t let me stop you. Just giving my opinion bout what is and isnt helpfull for the OP. And please be polite. So was I.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
People, pls. This is the players helping players section. there is a very long discussion bout it going in the personal story section. so please keep it there.
To the OP. The story ends by doing the Arah dungeon in storymode. it is in that way different then other dungeon’s and you need other people with it to help you on the way. It took me bout 15 minutes to find a group of people. First I advertised in Cursed shore LFG Arah story-mode. When I found one, that person took over and I went to Lion’s arch. He found someone else in cursed shores, and I found two more in lion’s arch.
It might depend on how active your server is, but on mine it doesnt seem to be a problem to find a group.

Well if you are looking for a guild on Gandarra just gimme a pm in game. I know my guild has a group of people going into WvW on a regular basis. Im pretty sure they are willing to take you with you. Though we are mostly PvE orientated, we really enjoy a bit of WvW from time to time.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I think it was you Konig that wrote a good article bout how to approuch lore, sort of starter guide, cant remember where (you name pops up in soo many places :P )
But you wrote there something in the lines of being carefull to not mix game mechanics with lore.
I think this is the case here. The game mechanics and specially the limits of desired specs (they want the game to play on low budget computers as well), makes that you can set reflections on and off. Cause of that limitation they gave the eye one solid reflection.
They made a graphical very advanced game. but there are limitations given the minimum specs. This has nothing to do with lore imo.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
You have dragon’s in many forms. In gw2 there was this bone dragon called Rotscale: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Rotscale wich has nothing to do with elder dragon’s
Also Glint is a dragon (mission is even called that way, as are her eggs called dragon eggs)
so yes Claw of Jormag is a dragon and it is very ok to call him a dragon.
He is however not an Elder Dragon. Elder dragon’s are unique and much more powerfull. the power is however in the term Elder.
So considering the term bone dragon, dragon eggs and the dragon’s lair in gw1 I would say that it is normal to call a dragon a dragon.
(ye I know bone dragon isn’t rotscale, but just a same skin, but I wanted to get old rotty in it cause I like him so much had had so much func with him).

It has been my home from day one and I really enjoy it. I don’t know how the population compares to other servers, but I keep meeting people on everymap. Just rolled a necro sylvari and caledon forest is pretty populated. had people withme for most quests and de’s.
also in the higher level area’s I always meet people. Most off all I like the atmosphere and the kindness off the people. Maybe we aren’t the best in WvW (not the worsed either).
Keep in mind Gandarra is unofficially a UK server, so mainly english. Though I’m dutch and never felt an outsider. My bad grammar is forgiven :P.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
It’s a popular route, so just follow someone who is doing it. otherwise, there are less enemy’s if you go round the heart area (to the east). dont try to fight enemy’s just run, throwing only things at tzhem to stop them (freeze, chains, minions, turrets). I have gone from lornar pass to fort trinity at lvl 42 without killing anything but just outrunning them all.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
bout the flamelegion…. I had a thought the either day (yip, one of those twisted ones).
I was hoping that in one of the future storylines there is a meeting of the pact, where they are discussing a way to accomplish somethign (e.g. kill and ED). None has a clue, but a whispers agent, who knows bout a flamelegion weapon and we have to restore peaceamong the charr. Think it would be an interesting storyline but thats just my twisted mind
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Well, being an ele means that I understand that you die a lot. I have an ele and it took time to master it.
Tip 1: learn to dodge. just not all the time, but when needed, if you see a gun aimed at you, or an ettin is swinging his club, then dodge away. beside dodging you can also move. Try to always be on the move (tip, the arrow keys left and right make you strive left and right, so you can use them during fights as alternate controls.
with good dodging and moving you can prevent up to 80% of damage taken.
Tip 2: use all your attunements. Ele has some powerfull skills with a long loading time, byswitching attunement you get a fresh set of 5 skills very likely all recharged. Do understand that water focusses on healing and freezing and less on dealing damage.
Tip 3: Wich weapon. Make sure you have all sets available, it’s just a staff, (trident but you can keeep it equiped all the time), 2 daggers, a scepter ands a focus.
understand it is not alway wise to go for e.g. the staff wich use a lot of AoE. This is nice in big dynamic event zergs, but imo very bad for personal story’s. AoE sounds nice, deal a lot of damage to all. But in the end the total amount of damage dealt might be higher, but the amount of damage per foe is lower. So when you are outnumbered 5-1 you might want to even the score a bit by quickly disposing on e.g. 2 off them making it 3-1. 5 foes with 10% health deals the same amount of damage as 5 foes with 100% health.
I hate switching weapons and therefor prefer scepter-dagger, wich is pretty balanced imo.
Hope this helps

there is evil and evil, though the effect should and could be better, but if you always be giving the fist-response (you know the questions where you can answer with a heart, crown or fist) the npc’s will start recognising your bad attitude and treat you thatway. But in the end your actions, like doing dynamic events or personal story is for the good.
So best you can achieve is that people say, ‘ok he is big hero, but jeeeez what a jerk’
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
the game is designed for playing with regular keyboard and mouse. other input devices are working as long as you find your own keybinding. as long as the key doesn’t run macro-functions (one key causes several actions). Macro’s aren’t allowed (although I do have a feeling that they can’t do much bout it).
I use a keyboard (logitech g510) and a razer naga. Though the mouse can be used to do everything, I prefer to use the mouse for camera and skills, and the keyboard for navigation and dodging.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I did this jumping puzzle/vista/skillchallenge with no real problems, but my 4 partymembers had real issues, so I had to redo it bout 25 times to help them and only 2 of them made it, the other two gaveup for then. The problem is not your keyboard, but just that it is a very tricky thing. specially the last bit on the small vines, you must know exactly where to jump, once you find the ttwo-three spots and memorize them you have no problem. best is to look very carefully at others and aim for where their feet landed succesfully. This is NOT your keyboard. if all else fails, ask indeed a friendly mesmer to portal you there. cause of some tricky vista’s im actually leveling up my mesmer (some of my friends are not the best jumpers )
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
For a mostly English server I could recommend Gandara. I have been here since day and I’m really enjoying it. We are mediocre in WvW (win some/loose some) wich means any help is welcome, regardless of how experienced you are. PvE is pretty active and stable and chat is mostly friendly. I transferred to the desolation for one day (in the time you could transfer once per day) to visit a friend there and it might have been bad luck (wrong place wrong time), but chat in lion’s arch was a bit more agressive.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Who ever said that it is holy magic?? If it comes to explaining true powers of Gods ofTyria I have to be carefull cause the only way to explain it is real life religion. I am religious in real life in a way that I believe in a higher entity that is supporting and guiding me in life in a way it is guiding others. The name of that entity is of no importance to me. A muslim as much a human being as a christian. I do know there are some people claiming to have super powers cause of a god. I do not believe that. I do believe that they can do extraordinary things, but not cause of a God.
I think that this thin line of understanding the difference between believing in something and reality also exist in Tyria. So the Guardian magic comes, like all magic, from one of the bloodstones and therefor one of the schools of magic. In case of the Guardian it is very likely the School of preservation.

There have always been horses in GuildWars. The only reason we don’t see them is that they are hiding for us, afraid that some idiot inmediatly demands to mount them
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Konig,
Just to rectify your impression bout what I was saying. I’m not saying that we should be fighting an elder dragon or commander every step. Having one more epic worldboss in Flame and Frost would be nice, but it don’t need to be a dragon champion. Even if there is no new worldboss in it I don’t mind. I disagree that the game so far isn’t bout dragon’s.
Like you said the personal story is bout fighting elder dragons and specially Zhaitan. All dungeons except Fractal’s of the mists is bout reuniting the legendary dragonhunters team.
You are right that many of the renown hearts and dynamic events are not bout fighting dragon’s or their minion’s, but they are bout helping everyday life continue despite the eminent thread.
I’m not saying that I’m a big dragon fan. I really enjoyed GW1 wich had almost no dragon. But I don’t dislike the concept and story either. Anet took this road and shoulds stick to it in my opinion. So I still have hopes up that we will learn more bout what the other ED are up too. But we will have to see.

Hi and welcome,
First of all it would be nice to know your timezone. The worlds are devided in Northern America region and European region. this weekend (just coinsedence) some changes will be made, making it easier to play on other worlds, but only between worlds in your own region. due to the time difference I would recommend staying in your own region.
So please share with us if you wanna play with northern Americans or with Europeans.

Definitely try on your own. You have five slots, so you can try out five of the eight professions, and keep one(s) you like, try out the others just to make sure. I think ele could fit you alright, but your stipulation about ‘not doing much damage’ is gonna bite you sooner or later. GW2 is a lot about being able to take care of yourself, so being able to kill relatively quickly will become important.
Ye, Thats what was holding me back in naming ele (my engineer is my only lvl 80, followed by my lvl 64 ele).
Ele has a great punch but really needs to kill quick. the positive side is that you can do that as an ele. the negative side is that some enemy’s only have to look at you or you are dead (ok, figure of speech but still). Ele has weak armor and a low healthpool.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
first of all, why third party?? this forum is great and so is the official wiki (wich is fully edited by players btw, Arenanet only delivers the platform) so for info on how to play the wiki is the best resource. for getting in contact with developers this forum is a very good place.
besides that:

hmmm, first of all pls dont bump after less then an hour. Secondly I wanr you I’ve never played WoW.
Having said that understand this is a totally different game build around very different principles. So best advise I can give is to jump in and try it.
But to give you a solid answer, if you look for the mechanic I think the engineer is your thing.
a: nice cc specially on single targets (my engineer with shotgun can keep a melee enemy at distance for the whole fight).
b: due to being medium armor they can take a good punch
c: they are the special ops. Its hard to explain to a newbe, but an engineer can do a lot of things that are specialisations. this comes with kits. e.g. there is a healing kit, basicly transforming you in a medic. There is also a granade kit, letting you throw granades to the enemy.
So maybe take my advise to try different things on your own, but start on the engineer
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I think that Martin’s quote is indeed very incomplete. as for the mounts and cantha, Ye we knew that. But like being said it is hard to believe that there will be no involvement of elder dragons in this several months story arc. If that is the case I will be very dissapointed. I do understand it if we won’t defeat another ED yet. But In myopinion the live and changing world that has promised us has to tell a story and I was under the impression that the story concerned ED’s and how they influence the world. I can understand that a single event like cursed shores didn’t envolve direct dragon influence (meaning that many players have a feeling that elder dragon’s have something to do with it, but we can only speculate bout it). When it comes to a several months event I would expect more clues then just some speculation what the other dragons are up to.
Hope Martin used some bad phrasing cause gw2 should all be bout dragon’s. some side story’s are nice, but if we are going to face a story that takes several months it should be bout dragons.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
As a gw1 player I was really exited to be playing as an asuran. In the bwe3 (only beta weekend I had access too) it became clear to me that I actually dislike the asuran’s (bunch of irritating wiseguys).
So I created a silvari – elementalist wich I played up till level 50 or so and still really enjoy. due to other reasons however I lost interest for a while and started a human engineer wich I brought to the end of the game at lvl 80. The main reason for picking human then was that i never tried it. It was ment to be a temporary sidestep, but I loved it soo much, I kept on playing her and she ended up as lvl 80 first.
After that I have created a mesmer (human) wich I am now lvl-ing up. The ele is still there at lvl 64 now. I decided to take it slow with her and use her mainly for helping others

hmmm, and others. I think this however is a misconception. just the fact that we dont encounter them doesn’t mean they are immuun.
To quote Trahearne: ‘Undead quaggan! Zhaitan will use anything that falls prey to his servants.’
you have to understand where they live. It is very possible that Zhaitan corrupted a few, and wast keeping them out of sight for tactical reasons (centaur feed are not very good for coastal invasions or guarding the swamplike terrain of Orr).

Hate to be a downer, but I think they said they’re not making new zones for this, or at least right away. They specifically mentioned Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills, and they’re making it so the ‘unloved’ zones have incentives to be visited.
That said, yes, it’s most definitely related to Jormag/Flame Legion. But I doubt any real progress towards them is going to be made
this is indeed a prelude as the title is saying. given the fact that somewthing big is happening in the north and this quote:’ is the prologue to a multi-stage narrative that will bring big changes to Guild Wars 2 in the months to come.’ this looks like Flame and Frost is going to be all bout Jormag.
Thanks OP for spotting this. can’t wait

as for range, the distance that Tixx flew in his airship was impresive even though he did stop a few times.
Also keep in mind that the pact now has access to Elona (cause the order of whispers has, they might not share their knowledge on how, but they do share info and resources).
We are however waiting for the next part of the storyline, so basicly time is standing still (except for an Kraken invasion). We don’t know what Anet has in store. but looking at gw1.
in 1072 AE the events from both prophecy’s AND factions occurded in the same year in lore but in real time more then a year had passed.
